One of the best independently owned bookstores I've ever been to. Heck, one of the best businesses in Morgan Hill. I had a book signing there a couple of years ago. They could not have been more accommodating. They have an excellent variety of books, magazines AND toys for the little ones. Their ice cream/coffee/treat counter is pretty darn good too.
I also like to browse the front of the store where they have the bestseller lists and staff picks with little labels on the books. Very helpful.

Eclectic, cool (literally - there is an ice cream parlor inside), great for perusing, fantastic customer service and a business very worthy of your support. I have come to Booksmart to find unique, intelligent gifts for the kids.

I've been here lots and lots of times, and each time I'm greeted with a smile and a helpful worker. They have an amazing selection of books and are organized in a way that is easy to find what you're looking for. And if you can't, there's someone at the counter to help. Besides the books they have a great selection of toys and fun nick knacks, jewelry, and gifts. As if that's not enough they have a little eatery where you can get coffee, ice cream, even some lunch. What keeps me coming back though is the friendly staff who always makes me feel like I'm a favorite costumer. I went looking here for a book I could use as a guest book for my wedding and Cinda helped made the great suggestion of using a book of classic love poems. It was perfect and I even had some guest writing in poems of their own. This is a great spot to go gift shopping at.

This is a great bookstore for browsing, going in to find bestsellers, periodicals (especially the paper,) kids books, reference materials and the like. The small restaurant just adds to the friendliness of the place, and have no problem with the toys and candy sections either.

Fantastic, friendly staff, always willing to help. If they don't have the book you need on the shelf, they will order it and have it within days. Great sandwiches and ice cream too!

This store has everything! I love to wander in and browse all the sections., even though my kids are grown. There is always something fun to see. It's a great place for unique gifts for friends and family.
The staff is always helpful. They happy are to look up anything for you, and to order it, if it is not in stock.
Plus they have coffee and ice cream! :) -

Love, Love, Love! Booksmart! Cinda and Brad have made a little haven in the middle of Morgan Hill. There are lots of books, toys, and strange things to give as gifts. I love the microbes! They make great key chains. If you are looking for a book club or a class for kids, you will find it here. Plus there is a cafe!
The people are super nice! Come in and browse. You are sure to find something you like. -

Booksmart is a hidden treasure in Morgan Hill! I was in there today to purchase some birthday gifts, and when I couldn't find "just one more book" to add to the pile, the lady that is usually behind the counter found a perfect one for me--based solely on the pile of books I had already decided to purchase!
Booksmart has really expanded their offerings since they moved from Monterey Road to 2nd St. Aside from their good selection of books, they also now have unique gifts, lots of fun, fluffy and educational toys for children of all ages, and a cafe that features some really good ice cream!

Very impressed to have stumbled upon this fabulous bookstore right here in Morgan Hill! It's really a nice place... decorated nicely... clean... and a fair size for a small town. It even has a cafe inside! :) And, ice cream too!
I purchased a few books, and my son bought a Webkinz here. They also have some Webkinz accessories.
They have educational toys for children, and puzzles. A great spot to pick up a unique birthday present for a child.

This independently owned store is definitely a treasure. The people who work there are very knowledgeable and friendly, and they carry a wide array of books, toys, etc.
Their most recent additions include a children's area in the back and a cafe in the front. This is my favorite place to go to buy gifts for people (it's so easy to find something for just about anyone), and there's a wonderful wrapping station inside the store as well. I love it!
If you're in town, don't miss this gem. :) -

OK, I first found this place because I needed a Notary Public, but now I've checked out the whole store.
Got some ice cream for the kids: small but good selection. The staff is very friendly and helpful. And they have a back section that I hadn't seen when I was first there that is crammed with toys. Lots of wooden toys, a few cheaper plastic ones. Really a lot of good stuff. The downside is that most of it seems above-average on price. I bought a couple of small things and a book because I felt like I should help support the community, but I'd go broke buying toys for the kids at this place. I let my little kids check out toys for about an hour. The ice cream is lower-priced than Baskin-Robbins, though.
It's really a nice, clean, cozy little place, and fun for the kids to roam around in the toy section while the adults check out the books.Listed in: My Neighborhood

Shop here!
This is a great specimen in a dying breed: the independent bookstore.
Morgan Hill has no need for a huge chain store when we have such a cozy little place like this that we can call our own.
And as an added bonus: The staff and owners actually know their stuff! This place knows books and they truly love their product. To walk into a Barnes and Nobles means that you most likely will have to extract information out of either a computer search engine or a teenager who just needed a summer job. The crew at Booksmart will help you out, talk shop if you want, and just generally be really cool.
We here in Morgan Hill have something special in this place and we should all do everything in our part to help this place out.

Support this great place!
As many local people know, this store has moved and the owners have operated many businesses in town - they now have them under one roof at this fab new location.
Wonderful bookstore, neat cafe, and beautiful selction of kids games, toys, and books. I would have loved to have had a place like this growing up.
The bookstore has a large selection of books and magazines, unfortunately they have sacrificed a little bit of space for the other options instead of books - so you can't always find what you are looking for - but they will order anything for you and it always arrives fast.
Great place for browsing and serious shopping - and wonderful staff always on hand to help out. -

I do love this bookstore. It is a bit more expensive because they don't give discounts like the mammoth stores, but it is worth it. They have a notary available (call first) and they have all kinds of kids toys. They have a cafe and the staff is very friendly. Shop Morgan Hill!

I love this place. You can go and get free ice cream on your b-day.
The selection of books and workbooks are great. They also carry all kinds of Usbourne books, great books. I'm a homeschooling mom and really love all the resources they have. My kids love the educational toys too. Their food is yummy and the staff is so friendly. Great place to just hang with a book or friends. -

this place has almost everything...
books, ice cream, food, coffee, art supplies, even toys .
everyone is very polite. i take my son 4 yr old there when we go for walks they are very nice when he counts his change to pay for his ice cream.
they have tables in doors and outside so you can sit and enjoy a book and coffee or catch up with old friends. -

Ah, this is like a little haven in Morgan Hill! I'm sitting right now in the cafe, where a group of locals are participating in a poetry reading :) The cafe is cute, with an ok selection of drinks (out of chai, but that's ok; I got a Sweet Leaf tea and the BF got a white mocha). The book selection is great; this is a sizable place, and a great place for kids, with a whole section in the back. And can't complain about the Wi-Fi! So glad to find this place... Not many coffee places to choose from, but I'm really enjoying the atmosphere here.

Im not too big of a reader, but I have to say, their ice cream is to die for! The bubble gum and vanilla! Ive never tasted such yummy ice cream, too bad they closed a little to early!

I give this book store 5 stars for excellent customer service.......and I didn't even buy a book from them! My duaghter is going to the Inauguration next week and I thought it would be nice if she wore a sweatshirt with her hometown on it. So you ask......how did I end up at a book store?
Initially I went to Walgreens, htey had sweatshirts but all were way too big. Then I went to Make it Mine Embroidery who also sells MH sweatshirts, although the posted hours were 8:30a to 5:00p M-Th, the store was closed at 2:30p!!! Guess they don't need the business. My last attempt to procure a sweatshirt, the MH Chamber of Commerce.
Explianed to them what I was looking for and why and was told by the gentleman there that they didn't have a sweatshirts right now becasue they were all in storage. You would think that the Inauguration of the first african american president would warrant a phone call to get a sweatshirt out of storage! Oh, well, guess they don't need the business either. At least the man was kind enough to refer me to Book Smart, thinking that they may have a sweatshirt or two from last years Centennial Parade. Unfortunately, they did not, but this is where the 5 stars come in.......the owner of Book Smart, Cinda, took a moment to make a phone call to the chairwoman of the MH Centennial Parade to see if she would be able to sell me a sweatshirt!
Now, thats customer service!
In the end, I was able to get a transfer of the MH Centennial Logo to make my own sweatshirt.......it feels good to know that there are still benefits to living in a small town!
Next time I am in the market for a book, Book Smart will definatley get my business!!! -

This gem has survived many a recession because of its worth to our community! No matter your genre, Cinda can find something you will enjoy reading because she's probably read it! Customer Service is first-rate and genuine. It's also one of the best places to find a toy or art supplies for your children. The food's pretty good too. If you want something hearty & satisfying, check out their Morgan Hill mushroom soup. Both Brad & Cinda are a huge reason Morgan Hill is as special as it is, actively participating in the planning and development of our city as it grows from fields of cherry orchards to a warm city of culture and refinement. I recommend you join Brad's mailing list to be informed about special events that offen occur at their store and in town.

Great local bookstore! Huge section for kids, good variety for adults, nice comfy cafe with ice cream and drinks. Will definitely make this our regular book destination. I feel so much better supporting local business than going to Borders or BN...

Wandering through the dark and lonely main drag (Monterrey) of Morgan Hill, I almost gave up trying to find this store. I was glad that I persisted. The store was full of local people who seemed to rely on this store to recommend and order books. The stock is full of children's and teacher-oriented books. There is a cafe and a toy store with unusual items. A real find amongst a downtown full of half-empty stores

Knowledgeable, friendly, lots of books, service for anything you might need...they have it all. Love the new location. The owner is absolutely the best. And the store feels like home -comfortable and welcoming.
They will spend however much time I need when I want help finding just the right book. They'll order a book if necessary with quick turnaround. A great place too for gifts for children. And looks like the cafe is doing well. Notary service too.

Great bookstore. I have been going here since they were on Monterey Rd. The owners are very nice and the staff is very knowledgeable. I go in there many times not knowing what I want to read and they will always give you there opinion and leading me in a certain direction. The atmosphere is comfortable. Very much Morgan Hill's Gem!

The best book store ever! I wont shop online anymore. It is places like this that makes Morgan Hill a good little town. Where else can you get someone to order a first edition for a Mother's day present, a box of plastic insects for my 3 year old and a scoop of ice cream for my hubby.

Prices are a bit steep but does have good selection. Things are organized kind of weird here. I went in recently to look for a kids book and could not really figure out what the system was. They do also have a nice selection of toys in a back room. Staff was helpful & friendly.
