We happened to see the sign for this bookstore while driving by.  A used bookstore?  In Yorba Linda?  That I hadn't already found on Yelp?  Why yes, it is!

This place is run by a nice lady and a beautiful bird that I believe is a sun conure.  I don't think the sun conure liked us very much.  It was so quiet while we were browsing that we didn't even notice it until we went to the counter to pay, at which point it squawked at us until we left, despite my efforts to talk to it.  I think birds tend to have that opinion of me--I like them more than they like me.  Just ask my mother-in-law's bird, who hates me.

Anyway, this is a nice little used bookstore with a huge sci-fi section, and I judge all bookstores on their sci-fi section.  The store is small but well-organized, and the selection is impressive for its size.  They really seem to cater to the reading requirements for high schoolers, so definitely check this place out if you need books for school.  As soon as I walked in, I saw books that brought back memories of AP English (some fond, some not so much).

Prices are 50% off the cover price, I think.  I was able to find some really interesting things that I hadn't seen before, and after digging through a few shopping bags full of books, my husband was able to find an entire series he wanted to read.  We left happy, and the bird was probably glad to see us go.

Used bookstores are like precious little jewels out there waiting to be discovered and I am so happy that I discovered Books Redux!

If you've never been into an authentic bookstore (B&N and Borders do NOT count) then you have no idea how much you are missing. Books Redux has the magic that makes independent shops special and it's right in the heart of Yorba Linda suburbia. The books are organized, the place is intimate, the owner incredibly knowledgeable and helpful, and the historic scent of aging paper pervaids the air. It's a reader's heaven.

There are a lot of books here, so be prepared to take your time to browse the shelves and turn some pages. Even if you're not super excited by old books you might be surprised by what you will find that you HAVE to have. If you're looking for something to do to pass the time or are hunting for a special book, be sure to stop by and check out this store. Let's keep independent shops like this open! Long live banned books!

Enter at your own risk...because you'll be happily browsing in here for a long time.

A small door hidden in the corner of a small strip mall, Books Redux is a book-lover's heaven. The 'doorbell' is a brighly colored bird who is surely well-read. The owner was instantly friendly and helpful. She was sure to ask whether we were there to browse or were we looking for something specific. Our answer: Both!

This place is a mix of a few new books at a discount, used books, and potentially collectible books, all waiting for their very own book lover to claim them.

Books Redux is tiny. The shelves are full and there are a few stacks of books waiting for their spot on a shelf. All in all, it's charming and just cozy enough to welcome you for an hour or two of browsing time.

We're hooked! We're going back, just as soon as we can read the small stack of books we brought home with us.

Absolutely one of my favorite used bookstores.  I just love being able to walk into the store and the scent of the old books just flows into me.  In case you can't tell, I'm really into books, the real stuff, not the digital stuff that are taking over now.  I found this place by accident after my appointment at the dentist's office right next door.  It made the appointments much less painful since I could look forward to browsing through shelves of books right after.

In any case, all books are 50% off their cover prices, which is a great deal, considering the general quality of the books.  It's quite cluttered, and while it would seem difficult to find what you are looking for, the owner has a great idea of what she has in stock.  I guess somehow it's ordered chaos, and she can find anything you want that is in the store.  Not only this, but she is extremely knowledgeable about books in general.  Seriously, I just had a random question about a really old sci-fi novel that apparently didn't have too many reprints, and she was able to tell me about the entire series that the novel came from as well as the most recent book in the series.  It boggles my mind that she just had this knowledge at the top of her head. Not only this, but she was able to direct me to a bookstore that did have the book I was looking for.  Nothing but respect for this owner.

It's a great place to trade-in those books that you've already finished and don't really feel like re-reading.  This store gives you an opportunity to get credit, and when you've accumulated enough, you can pick up something else worth reading.

A few minor problems I have with this store is that you need to spend at least $10 before you can use a credit card, and it's difficult to find newly written books as this is a used bookstore.  But these are practically non-issues the majority of the time as I can easily walk away with $20 of purchases.  I just hope that this place lasts a long time.

Not only are my family members all bibliophiles, we're also packrats who feel the need to own the books we read. And thus, we have three rooms in our house that have at least one wall covered or stacked with books.

But recently when my uncle moved, he gave us boxes and boxes of books. We shifted through the collection, weeding out ones we wanted to read, but after the exhaustive job, we realized that my uncle had given us nearly two hundred books (former best selling thrillers, fantasy, and science fiction paperbacks) that we suspected we were probably never going to pick up. Not knowing what to do and apprehensive of the clutter, we just piled these into stacks figuring that we'll one day donate them to the library.

So these books have been gathering dust for some time now when I discovered Books Redux.

Books Redux is a modest little second hand bookstore that both buys and sells books. Of course, I should correct myself and say that Books Redux is a second hand bookstore that sells used books and offers store credit for your old ones. They do not give you cash for your goods--just credit.

The tiny little shop is crammed with white shelves overflowing with books. Stacks of books are piled on the floor congesting the already narrow walkways. The collection is modest and of what you'd expect from a second hand boo store located in the most suburban city possible--lots of former best sellers, coffee table books, mandatory school readings, and those must-read literary works.

Though each section might not be extensive as one might desire, they do have most sections that a larger bookstore would have, including cookbooks, art books, and some rare/collectible books. Most books are priced 75% of the listed price, except new books that are charged in full.

Anyways, so during my last visit to California, my mother and I been shuttling some books here to exchange for credit. They take two shopping bags worth of books every Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays. If you give them a day to calculate how much credit to dole out (it depends on the book, the condition, and availability, but expect anywhere between 50 cents to 50% of listed price), they call you back and tell you how much credit you now have at the store.

So after having exchanged the books that no one was ever going to read, I've gotten enough credit to buy a Joan Didon's "Year of Magical Thinking," a hardback on the works of John Constable, and some series installment for the younger brother.

I am in no way impressed by the store, but I think this is a great shop for its location (Does Yorba Linda even have a bookstore?). It's a great alternative to the Borders and Barnes and Noble that tyrannically rule over Orange County cities. Plus, anywhere where I can turn in the copies of Dean Koontz I got for free for a copy of Ms. Didion is fine by me.

Little shop tucked away in the corner. Unless you're looking for it, you might have a hard time finding it - I thought they had gone out of business like everyone else in this recession but she's still there!

Great place to go if you love books and have hours to spend, pouring and shifting through shelves and shelves of books. Shelves are crowded together and bursting with books, so watch out when you walk around. It just gives the place some character, not necessarily in a BAD "bursting" way.

Also a great place to unload books to make space for more - though she only accepts 2 bags at a time (think Trader Joe's bags).

Let's hope to God bookstores like this don't die out. We can't let them. I hate to see people badmouth this place, even mildly like Sienna. These bookstores are a dying breed.

They probably make very little money. You get to wander a labyrinthine system of ceiling-high shelves stocked with books from architecture to zoology. There are classics from Petrarch to pop fiction (Patterson). There is a book club with the latest selections on shelves up front.

The shop gets its inventory by giving customers credit for books they bring in. The selection is amazing considering the source.

While I was there a fetching young woman sporting a tattoo on her leg asked if they took Reader's Digest books. They are the least wanted of anything a used bookstore might consider.

Later, I joked that Reader's Digest books are a "toxic asset," puffing out my chest at my witticism.

The proprietor responded that the books are on the "no-fly list," lest I think I had cornered the market in Reader's Digest quips.

Even if you aren't a book nerd, the shop has a fabulously attractive bird. Stop in and have a look.  It's right on the corner of Yorba Linda Blvd. and Imperial Highway.

I love this little shop! How can you resist a store with it's own bird cage and a counter worth of Hoarders? The young adult selection is great, I can't seem to walk out without books in my hands.

I've been on the hunt for Happy Hollister books, and one day, I turned the corner and BOOM, 6 of them sitting on the shelf saying, "Hey, here we are! We've been waiting!"

Yorba Linda, the land of corporate chains, plentiful in churches and green street dividers...let's just say that I love that something like this exists in Yorba Linda, of all places.

I opened an account in high school (we're talking 1999 here), didn't go for 6 years, and they STILL had credit on my account...even after moving locations!

    Love it.

    The parrot here is awesome!

The lady who runs this place is really a cool person, and the way the credit works here, although it forces you to spend, ends up being more worth it than, say, selling your books on Half. What most impressed me was the amount of organization at this store. The lady who runs this place obviously knows about books and cares about them enough to make them accessible to people.
