If you want to find cheaper books to buy, come here. But come here quickly because they run out of their books super fast. The employees are very helpful and really know their merchandise.

A problem with them is when they buy back your books, they will rip you off. One of my books was only worth five bucks when I paid like 100 for it. I think not!

The prices are pretty close to those at CSUEB but sometimes you can get a book or two cheaper. Only problem: the rude owners who follow you around like you're going to steal something. They don't allow you to be on your phone so you can't compare prices.

They buy books back but usually its for less than I find at CSUEB. Shop around.

Good buyback prices.  Same stock as CSUEB.  Friendly service.

I came here to sell a book I ended up not needing, and got the best price around by far.  I almost made back all the money I spent on it in the first place.

Looking around for books I needed, the staff was very helpful and helped me to find what I needed.  Unfortunately, they didn't have the books I needed yet, but for some reason neither did CSUEB.

I'll be back to sell books and hopefully buy some next time.

BEST BEST BEST place to buy books.

Minus one star for how much you get back when you sell
Minus another star for the return policy

Good place to get your University books for cheaper.  They have majority of the books for CSUEB, and it is conveniently located next to the campus.

You can call them and ask if they have the books in stock before you make your way there.  They do not give prices over the phone, but totally understandable since the internet has so many cheap prices.

Go buy your books on the first week of school, because they do sell out quickly, and to avoid having to wait for them to reorder.

They also pay fair prices, and sometimes more than Follett does on campus for book buy back, so go there and check to see how much your books are worth first... because most likely they will pay you more.

Friendly staff, and always helpful, making sure you are finding the books you are looking for.

This place confused me when I first walked in. I guess I missed the arrow pointing to the left instead of looking for how to get to the counter right in front of you. They did take back a old edition which was cool, and for a pretty fair price. The other book was a bit low though so I kept it. Had to deal with the employee over her laptop though which I find kinda annoying considering the counter was already pretty cluttered. But since they take back books the school isn't it is OK for quick cash when you need it.

Not horrible and not amazing either.
I basically was asked to set my bag at the front. I was nervous because I had a lot of things I didn't want stolen. Hmm oh well...
I remember it was kind of messy when I was there, but it is the beginning of the quarter of course it is. I also felt like the owners thought I was a theif or something. They were watching on people like hawks... Must of had bad experiences in the past. Anyways I found a reasonably priced textbook I was looking for. They also gave me a free notebook with my purchase.
Overall it was an alright experience.

Books are almost always cheaper than the bookstore, and they'll do buyback all year round.  Definitely call first to see if the book you want is in-stock, usually they've got used copies whereas the Pioneer Bookstore will always have new copies at higher than amazon prices.  Sure college textbooks are expensive, what are you complaining about.  The difference is that they sell for cheaper here.  Buyback usually gives you a fair amount back, given that the textbook market is continually changing.  unfortunately, they can't control the economics of the textbook market, and those damn publishers always seem to release a new edition every year.  Your fault if you're holding onto textbooks for longer than a year.

i've never bought books from here, but have done plenty of selling. they usually are cheaper that CSUEB, but not always. the good part--if CSUEB doesn't accept the book anymore due to a new edition, BOTR will. The staff normally is friendly, but when it's high traffic season i.e. beginning or end of a quarter, they will treat you so shabbily! This lady insisted that I leave my purse in a cubby by the front door. I told her i couldn't do that because i had my wallet, my cell phone, my pda, my ds, my camera and my ipod in there. besides, all the other stores that require you to check your baggage never take your purse. I felt that it would be unsafe to leave everything near the door where someone could grab it and run, but the lady insisted. i was so tired of her attitude that i told her i'd only leave it if she watched my purse and stood by teh door. She did..lol. their prices for books are only about $0.50 to $1 cheaper than the pioneer bookstore, so you might want to just get the books on campus.
