I love an "old fashioned" feel for a book store, you can get bunch of books and walk upstairs to get a cup of cappuccino and browse thru them. Nobody will rush you out, and staff is very knowledgeable and helpful to aid you in your selection.
They also feature local Long Island culture and history books as well as local writes. One of my favorite is Alyson Richman "The Lost Wife".

If you're ever stuck in Long Island, or hate a good majority of its residents, this may be a reminder that not everything in Long Island is bad.

Awesome bookstore, located in a Long Island town that doesn't suck. One time, cult actor Bruce Campbell did a signing here.

Do you like to caress and sniff miles of worn, crusty, wonderful used (cheap!) books?

    I do.

Do you like to find literary journals that can't be found anywhere else on Long Island?

    I do.

Do you miss independently owned shops?

    Well, yeah.

There is no reason not to walk in here. If you haven't done so yet, consider yourself in for a treat.

absolutely love this place.  easily the best bookstore on the island.  great prices on a lot of books, every once in a while they will sneak one past you, but just know what you are looking at/for, and you'll be fine.

A little expensive, but they have a good amount of books. I would recommend joining Borders or Barnes and Noble online. They give you discounts and notifications on sales. I recently found out that they serve Bubble Tea at the little coffee shop inside. They also have a lot of book signings. You can sell your book there if it's in good condition! Let's see...

    Great Staff.. Yes

    Wonderful Guest signings... Yes

Amazing charm of a old smelling book... Yes

Nostalgia of not reading on a kindle and actually turning a page... Yes

Is this a Barnes and Noble, super giant box store that you can't find anything in... No

Hmm, so why do I still occasionally find myself in B&N? More than likely cause I'm a jerk and forget that I hate it there. Anyways Book Review is a fantastic Huntington location that draws some really amazing Authors and big names, this is one spot to check out.

In the electrified digital age of Kindle readers and the internet, holding and reading a book might seem quaint and old fashioned. But to those bibliophiles who find solace in the written tome, it can be heaven. I love this store in Huntington Village. I think it embodies everything an independent bookstore should be.

There are books new and old on just about every topic imaginable. There are always great finds on the 75% off tables, and some real gems located in the older print sections. If you wanted to start a library in your home, this would be a great place to start with that.

They also have literary events all the time with various authors and public figures. Really anyone notable who has written a book has made an appearance here for a book signing or even a meet and greet. I have been meaning to attend one of these book signings one day in the future.

The Book Revue also has a nice magazine section. It's small in size, but there are many interesting periodicals to be found there. They also have a really extensive children's section which is pretty cool. Literary is important especially for the young and impressionable.

You can also stop in their cafe and enjoy some coffee, tea, or other light refreshments. And before you ask, it's not a Starbucks mini location! Hallelujah!

The atmosphere is very laid back and simple. The place does have that sort of book smell you can only find in an independent book seller. It's not that homogenized sterile feel of those other guys whose names start with B. I think music is playing, but truthfully never really noticed it if it was. It's a nice relaxed vibe in there and the people working there are friendly, helpful and book lovers themselves.

Personally this would be a great place to take a date for a coffee and maybe a book signing. That is if you tend to like dates at these kinds of places. If you don't have a date or a friend to go with you, don't despair, it;s a really great place to go by yourself and find that special book you will enjoy.

We love the internet and eReaders are wicked cool, but nothing beats the real deal. Getting a book for a great price and spending the money in your local community. So stop by the Book Revue one day, grab a coffee and stroll around. Check out the posters on the windows to see who's coming to visit for a book signing.  You'll really enjoy yourself.

What I love most about this place is that they ALWAYS have excellent book signings.

I have met so many cool people here, both signing their books and just standing in line waiting to meet the authors.

I used to live right down the street and I would stroll over all the time but I don't get over to it as much these days.

Parking is mostly in the street or in the various lots scattered around Huntington village.

I only discovered this place last summer. After going to one of their events and browsing through their book selection, I fell in love. My book purchases are always under $10! It's homey--summer reading according to local school's lists, classics scattered throughout, and the promotion of anything and everything long island.

Just got back from a reading/signing of an old friend's 1st book http://www.genpopbooks... and I can't say enough good things about this bookstore.  They have a great selection, they are super helpful, and the place just has an excellent vibe.

Being there amongst all the books and the readers will instantly make you realize why the e-book will never catch on.

Always bustling, tons of books with a large selection in a variety of topics, friendly staff, great discounts, and quite simply the place that is a part of every true Huntington resident's life.  Every time I am back home I am making a stop at the Book Revue.  I can't help it!  There is no place like it.  They bring in some of the most esteemed authors from all over for signings/talks.  My mother still is over the moon about having met Dick Francis, her all-time favorite author, just down the road from our house.

This is no hole in the wall little book store.  It's the real deal.  Happy reading!

Book Revue is really the best of both worlds - an independent bookstore with the selection and amenities of a big store. I used to love strolling the aisles and always found the best buys there. And they really do get the best signings - I worked at the Barnes & Noble in Huntington Station and they never got the quality authors and personalities that Book Revue did.

It's worth checking out - as others have said, it is part of the heart and soul of Huntington. I never went into town without stopping in at Book Revue!

One of the best places in Huntington village. This bookstore has expanded to the size of the larger chains (2 stories) and still managed to keep it's local, small-bookstore feel. I also like the little coffee shop / cafe here called **Van Houtte http://www.vanhoutte.com where you can grab a sandwich, soup, bakery treat and a coffee or - my favorite - fancy latte like coconut mocha and mint mocha (hot or iced).

(Update: as of last Sunday 5/16/10, the Van Houtte cafe switched owners and now it's Seattle's Best Coffee. Even the the menu changed slightly it looks very similar and I still got my fave the mint mocha - service at the new Seattle's Best was excellent just like it was at Van Houtte).

Featuring book signings by famous authors regularly. The municipal lot on New York Avenue near Gerard is a good place to park. This place is a town treasure!

Children's book dept is great and they offer a selection of 1/2 price books - let the kids play in the wooden "truck".

I give this place five stars for existing and having a good selection, but I have to take off a star for the unfriendly staff. Really, is it too much to ask that the people who ring up one's purchases might say "hello" or "can I help you?" or "thank you" or even make eye contact? I'm not asking to have a cozy chat about books with the staff, but basic civility would be an improvement.

the space itself is nothing to rave about.  it kinda feels like an impromptu weekend book sale set up in huge vacant storefront. it just doesn't have that warm, cozy feel an indie bookstore should have; and the awful neon lights don't help.

having said that i LOVE this place.  so many great deals for the casual reader or crazed bibliophile.   the set up is my favorite: used copies on the shelf right next to brand spankin' copies of the same title.  sometimes you want a new copy,  sometimes you'll take the dog-eared $2 copy.

their selection of fiction is huge.  their history, religion, travel, sci-fi fantasy stock is equally as impressive.

but the best are the remainders.  and we're talking new, relevant, interesting, desirable remainders for 50% off;  great new paperbacks and some handsome editions of classics. and the staff i interacted with was super friendly and as excited as i was about my finds.

    i got 6 great books(5 new) for $28.

and apparently they have tons of authors that stop by on book tours...if you're into that kinda thing.

definitely worth the visit to Huntington

One of the best (and largest) independent book stores in a sea of chain store replicas, Book Review is like heaven to me.  I have heard famous writers, poets and cultural icons speak there, I have hidden in a comfy chair and read, I have loitered, and I have fallen in love with characters in far off places.  My inner nerd is happy.

I love this store.  it has a fantastic selection of books that you usually don't find in the big chain stores.  I do love the book singings (got a book signed by Caroline Kennedy!) as well as book readings.  It makes you feel great also to support a local store instead of the 'big chain' ones.  A great coffee shop with inside and outside seating.  Also great bargain bin and last time I walked by, they had a box with free books to take!  Superb!

This bookstore has been a staple in my life since a very young age.  Now that I am older the thing I appreciate the most about this store is its uniqueness - It is so refreshing to go into a bookstore that isn't a chain and rather has its own feeling in downtown Huntington.

There isn't much that hasn't been said. An independent book store with great books, a large selection, a nice cafe and book signings that certainly bring in some big names. I'd give examples, but you only need one: J.K. ROWLING. Yes, I got the first three Harry Potters signed in 1999, in what I think is her only book signing tour of the US to date. If I recall correctly, It was her only stop in all of New York. Small town Long Island winning out over the city. It was a beautiful moment. I will cherish the memory, and this book store, forever.

I'm a book addict, and this store is my obsession.  I love the sleepy little cafe town it's centered in.  Of course, since I have impulse control issues, the only way to curb my compulsions is to frequent it once a month. Otherwise I can do some serious damage with my debit card.

My review will probably add nothing new to what has already been said, but after stopping in here I felt this place deserved another 5 review.  I like that it's not just a strictly used bookstore, so if you're looking for newer titles they will be there as well.  Luckily I had lots of time to go through all the books on the second level and find some great deals, I picked up 3 new books and 2 used and spent less than 30$.  I don't know what else to say except that I wished I lived closer so I could go here more often, helpful staff, great selection, and it's open enough to browse for a while without being annoyed by people.

What can I say?  Book Revue is one of those book stores you just don't come by often any more.  No wonder it is a Huntington landmark.

Prices are fair, nice feel, comfortable atmosphere, and a great place to grab a cup of coffee and kill some time.

Staff is quiet, and not intimidating (not up your rear like some larger chains), and have never had a bad experience.  The selection is more than descent for the size and they make an effort to keep their customers coming back.

If you are in Huntington, definitely check out Book Revue.

The Book Review of Huntington is one of the best bookstores around.  The chain stores are boring and all look alike.  This bookstore is a stand alone and it certainly does and also stand apart.  I would rather buy a book here than anywhere else.  There prices are comparable with the big chain and box stores.
