Can't go wrong with the steaming hot clay crock bowl full of soft tofu stew! They have so many varieties and you can have it with no spice or super spicy, it's awesome.
I really like their jok bahl (pigs feet) a nice combo of meaty and gelatinous goodness wrapped in one.
My hubs likes their seafood pancake. Their banchan (side dishes that come with every meal) is pretty tasty as well.
Usually when we go they give a complimentary bowl of their house-made pumpkin porridge...naturally sweet and a nice way to start the meal there! -

I miss Ktown's BCD... this is the closest substitution and sadly, this place just doesn't have "it".
The jap chae is greasy, the kalbi is fatty... yet I come back all the time. You win by being open 24/7 and serving alcohol. -

Delicious, super satisfying, and love everything about this place!!
I can't count how many times I've been to this restaurant! I've ordered this at many other korean joints.. but BCD tofu is hands down THE BEST!! Always silky smooth and bubbling hot. Perfectly spiced with delicious broth! For those who can't handle spicy, you have the option of picking the spiciness of your dish. They give plenty of sides and are glad to give you more, if you wish. The waitress ladies speak Korean and Chinese.. I thought that was cool.
ALSO.. service is extremely fast! The wait is never too long. Awesome meal for dinner OR even more awesome after a night of drunken craziness -

I don't find myself craving Korean food, instead, I often have cravings for this place. Does that make any sense? Yes, but only if you knew how much I love Book Chang Dong, does this statement then become logical.
Situated right on Northern Blvd, surrounded in a sea of other Korean restos, yet in my tunnel-vision devotion, I will only see BCD. This is my go-to place for the heartiest soft tofu stews, "soondubu jjigae". Their menu has over 10 varieties but, I especially love the beef and kimchi flavors. Their deliciously crisp seafood pancakes "Pajeon" is second to none, and their flavorful and fresh, "Japchae" (stir-fried sweet potato noodles with sesame oil and veggies) is expertly made here. Though prices are slightly high, it is worth it for the quality of its fantastic, Korean comfort food, for the restaurant's plain, yet, open and comfortable space, and for its decent service.
If I've eaten here over 50 times, I'd still come another 50 times more, even if new places crop up beside, around, or nearby it. I'm all about change and whimsicality, but this is an exception. I've tried other places for tofu stew, but BCD remains in a league of its own as my favorite Korean restaurant in Flushing. This is why my thoughtful bf brought me here for my birthday last year for an informal dinner with some friends. To top it off, we had freshly made cupcakes that Jimmy brought from Sprinkles (isn't he the sweetest!?!). So, with that in my treasure trove of memories, no other place can quite hold a candle against my beloved BCD. -

This place never dissapoints me. It's always here when I need the crave in the middle of the night. Or coming back from a party and all you want is some soondooboo! I like that it's never crowded & it def. hits the spot on the cold winter nights! Their seafood pancake and bibimbap (hot) is also good too!

Review from Thomas M.
Really awesome Korean food at a good pricepoint, Book Chang Dong offers a variety of Soon Doo Boo as well as Korean BBQ, and other staples like Bops and Japchae.
As noted by others, the Seafood Pancake is a must order... the texture is amazing and the seafood is fresh. It's perfectly fried and super tasty... but order just one. It's more filling than you think and you want to leave room for a Soon Doo Boo.
Soon doo boo here is good, very tasty, and they can modify the spiciness according to your preference. DO NOT ORDER the very mild soup. It's basically salt and water. I had the seafood soon doo boo and it was legit, came with shrimp, tons of clams, a mussell and even a few pieces of oyster. Also you crack your own egg into it and with the soon doo boo coming in at $9.95, it's a very reasonable price.
Great spot if you have a car/live in flushing. Otherwise it's a bit out of the way to get to. -

Elmhurst, NY
Tasty food, but terrible service. When my friends baby puked, the waiter said we have to pay 20$ to clean and if I chose not to pay he can give me a rag and Clorox to clean it up myself. First off, how much can a 8month old throw up? It wasnt much nd it was mostly just water than the baby drank too fast. Literally looked like someone spilled water. I spoke to one of the cleaning crew and asked him if I can offer him $5 for the clean up and he said of course, you shouldn't even have to pay. I gave him the $5 for tip and the waiter definitly received no tip from me.

Review from Grace L.
This was my first stop when I went on vacation in New York. When I first stopped in, I wasn't really a fan of the set up. It seemed kind of darn in there, but I'm there for the food, not the setting.
The service was alright. I guess I'm too Southern thinking I'm going to be greeted with a smile when I walk into a restaurant. When we walked in, she just asked us how many were in our party and sat us down. The whole time we received service, there was not ONCE a smile. It doesn't hurt in life to give a smile here and there and make your customers feel welcomed.
The food was really good though! I ordered the Spicy Beef Tofu Soup. It came out bubbly hot, so I was careful to stir my food around so that it could cool down. I was also given an egg to add in, so I thought that was cool, even though it was a super small one. My friend had ordered the duk-boki (spelling?), and I thought it was only alright. I feel like I've had better in Atlanta.
I feel like this place is good for some food to warm you up on a cold day, and a perk is that it's opened 24 hours, so if you find yourself up at 3 in the morning, I would suggest you to come here, other than that, I would kinda pass. -

Healthy, clean and not heavy.
Another go to late night spot. The soon dubu always hits the spot. It always comes out piping hot, the broth is rich and full of flavor. It's comfort food at it's best and the banchan is a plus. The only bad review I would say is that the service is sub par. I really believe in the myth that Koreans get better service then others, so make sure you have a fellow Korean order for you.
Must Try:
Spicy Seafood SDB - perfectly spicy which make it addicting, tons of seafood and tofu
Seafood Pancake - a bit oily, but full of seafood -

It's good, but I've definitely had better Korean food.
You can never go wrong with the Spicy tofu soups. The flavors are pretty decent. I've tried the kimchi tofu soup and dumpling tofu soup. Not bad, not bad.
The spicy rice cake is not that good. The rice cakes are extremely large in size, not too used to that. The flavor is just mediocre.
The service is typical NY service. Not great. Servers don't smile, are pretty standoff-ish.
The one great thing about this place is that it's open 24/7! You can go here at any time of the day, or night! -

Really great tofu soup with deep intense flavor that you can't find anywhere. However, service is rushed, unfriendly, and sometimes downright rude. They also wipe the tables down with dirty rags. It's a place you go purely for the food. Don't look, don't ask!

Def my new Korean spot, lol. It is a bit out of the way for me, but always well worth the trip! I love getting dol sot bi bim bap (I think I spelled it correctly) and the bbq chicken = HEAVEN!!! I finally decided to change it up just a little bit the other day and got the jap chae with a chicken soon du boo and of course the bbq chicken! That was seriously the best dinner I've had in a while! Love this place!

Review from Kent C.
I've been coming here ever since high school. A lot has changed, the prices are a lot higher, and there's a lot more on the menu. I do usually just stick to the soon tofu, but their other dishes aren't bad either.
The best thing about this place is their soon tofu though. It's seriously jam packed with tofu and super filling. No matter how hungry you are, basically 1 bowl should fill any appetite.
My gripe is that their stuff isn't spicy anymore. It used to be really spicy, I guess it just became too commercialized now, but still some of the best soon tofu you can find. -

How can you not love 24 hour soodobu at your beckon call? Though we usually do come on normal dinner hours, it's great to know that if you did have a craving for some tofu spicy soup, you can always come to BCD.
My favorite soodobu has to be the mandoo (dumpling) one which you can order the spicyness/mildness to your liking. Love the rice that comes with because it is nice and sticky which soaks up all the saucy/soupy goodness. I also always wonder where they find those small eggs they give you to drop them in your soup to cook. I can never find eggs that small in the supermarket.
We also always order the seafood pancake and LA galbi which is great to share. The selection of banchans is not much but I still love the potatoe one the best. The BBQ is cooked in the back so it comes on a hot sizzling plate. The LA galbi (short ribs) are always delicously prepared and goes great with rice.
There's a lack of decor in here (no frills joint) but if you just want some good soodobu, you don't really care about the decor, as long as I can satisfy my tofu craving. -
Review from Chris M.
Open 24 hours, this place is the perfect late night stop after a night out.
I usually come here after a night out or after a snowboarding day trip.
The soon dubu here is delicious. There are many different combinations of ingredients you can pick from and each is under 10 dollars. Also, you can adjust the level of spice to fit your taste buds.
Moreover, they have other traditional staples of Korean bbq as well - from the seafood pancake to the always delicious kalbi and bulgoli. If tofu is not your thing or you're just not feeling it that night, you can also try the kimchi fried rice with and egg or the bibimbop - the rice and beef in the stone bowl.
Happy eating, suckers -

Oh how I love tofu houses! With a wide selection of hot tofu bowls, BCDS is one of my favorites. While the service can be erratic, the food more than makes up for it. I recommend the Mandoo Soondubu (beef dumplings) and get it spicy! Wash that down with some Soju and an O.B.

Review from Grace C.
Better quality than the NYC one. I came here about a week and a half ago and I wasn't very hungry and I find the tofu stew (soondoobu) to be quite filling and considered getting one of my favorites, dduk mandoo guk (rice cakes + dumpling stew?) but it was something like $13! Maybe I'm exaggerating, but it was definitely overpriced. Stick to what they are good at. Don't spend superflously on something that they're not known for. $10 for a seafood tofu stew on a cold winter day. Yes!
Warning: If you can't handle spicy at all, (i'm weaksauce) I wouldn't get the medium, i'd get mild. -

Best tofu soup that I've had in a while. The price is pretty reasonable for the amount of food that you get. I ordered the tofu with beef but very spicy. There wasn't much beef but a lot of tofu.
The tofu itself had nice flavor. However, the soup to me was a little salty but still delicious. The tofu also wasn't overcooked and uber soft; just right imo. You can cut right into with your spoon and it'll stay in one piece not like other places where it would just crumble to pieces.
I'm definitely going to be ordering a seafood pancake and their grilled squid when I come back. -
Review from Jimmy C.
My girlfriend loves this place so I got a bunch of her friends together and made them come here on her birthday, as a surprise. I said stuff like, "if you cared about her" or "if you were a true friend, you would come" type things. They came.
One friend said it was mad ghetto and Jimmy, you should find a better place. That was lame city and she ended up not coming.(http://24.media.tumblr...)
Contrary to what this lame friend of hers said, this place is actually GREAT for an informal birthday dinner. They've got this square shaped seating area near the entrance that can accommodate like 15 to 20 people (plenty of seating on all four sides). We didn't need all that space but if you had that many people, they can accommodate you, is what I'm sayin'. If you do plan on bringing a lot of people, I would suggest you call in advance. You don't want to show up expecting to sit at that area and then find out you have to split up your group. Call anytime, they're open 24 hrs.
Usually people come here to get the tofu soups with the rice and the kimchi but they've got barbecue too and according to the Daily News newspaper or whatever, Korean food is the hot shit of 2012, so don't just bring your Asian friends, bring your Whites, Blacks and Browns! (http://articles.nydail...)
I've been there a bunch of times and the ladies who work there are pretty funny. They all look like Korean moms with their perms. I remember one time I may have spent a little too much time trying to decide what I wanted, while she was waiting, and she gave me a dirty look and told me to hurry up. Ha! That's the full-on Korean household experience right there! So you get a lot for your money: Authentic Korean mom food and authentic Korean mom oppression. -

Where do you go when it's 5am and you're craving food? BCD!
My friends and I came by here after a long night of karaoke at Main Street for some late-night/early-morning food. I love the banchan (small plates) variety here, and the mandoo (dumplings) and pajeon (pancake) are not bad either. We also had some bulgogi (marinated beef), which was flavorful, but I've had better. Of course, the soondubu (soft tofu casserole) is always good, although I wasn't able to eat all of it because I'm not used to eating at 5am.
I will go back again, hopefully during the actual daytime this time. -
Review from Abraham B.
Manhattan, NY
My first visit here left me with a really good feeling of coming back soon. You have to get the tofu stew (soondoobu) but the attention paid to giving you more banchan (side dishes) upon you finishing the plates is pretty awesome. They offer 4 levels of spiciness and I personally got to taste both the seafood and soft pork stew and both tasted really well. the texture, temperature of the stew, time it took to serve all just impressed me all around.
I also had the chance to try the seafood pancake and kalbi(short rib) which complemented my whole meal perfectly. Portions are large and the prices are really fair. Come here with friends and you're sure to enjoy your dinner here. And conveniently not too far from Flushing plus a lot of parking nearby. -

Fresh Meadows, NY
I used to love this place. My 4ams were spent in this place beasting on soups with the rest of my drunk crew. They are open whenever I have a Korean food crave..so no complaints there. BCD was nice and cheap.
The prices have been steadily increasing for the last couple of years. Anyone who had ever been here knows the decor isnt something to marvel at and customer service resembles something of a fast food restaurant. I don't believe in paying $16-20 bucks for kalbi/bulgogi when I can pay the same at a different restaurant with better side dishes, better decorated restaurant, and better service.
Still a decent place to come at 4am and whenever a late night Korean food crave attacks. -

3.5 stars - Great place to go to in the winter for a wonderful warming meal..
Looking for a hearty korean meal, BCD Tofu is the place to go. This is a no frills place with great food and decent service (waitresses speak korean/chinese/english so you'll have no problem ordering unlike other korean establishments in the area). Their free appetizers are rather simple but always fresh and tasty. I always get the seafood pancake (fried well without it being too greasy), bulgolki or kalbi and their soondubu (loaded with ingredients of your choice, silky tofu and tasty broth with your choice of spiciness).
I've personally had a better experience with the Flushing location as opposed to the Manhattan one. Wait is shorter, food comes quicker and taste-wise, both are basically identical. -
Review from Elsie W.
Yeah so, the Manhattan BCD is better. Hands down.
Service here is great. There's really nothing to complain about. It's just that the BCD in the city is so amazing there is nothing that can be compared to it.
I had the oxtail+beef tofu as per some yelpers' recommendation, and it was lackluster. There wasn't a lot of meat (more like there was very little), it was mostly tofu, which I suppose is the point of it. My friend ordered spicy and I ordered mild, but they both came out the same color and same spiciness.
Prices are fantastic (under $10) and we were full, so I was happy about that. -

Service was terrible-Food was Horrible.
the soondubu tasted like legitimate MSG soup with red dye.
the best soondubu around the area (that's not really in the area actually) would probably be the BCD in Fort Lee, NJ.
Avoid! Avoid! Avoid! -

My go to place for solid Korean Tofu and if I want Kalbi but don't want to cook it myself.
Prices have gone up but generally Korean food is expensive anyway. Service is friendly and fast. -
Review from Haru S.
Flushing, NY
I've always been a fan of tofu. So naturally, I'm a big fan of sundubu (soft tofu in a spicy red soup with other ingredients of your choice). I usually just get the kimchee sundubu but sometimes I'll go for the haemul (seafood). The sundubu here is pretty tasty in comparison to the others I had tried in Flushing. I love the rice that comes with the sundubu. It gets crusted and crunchy when they cook it. The Koreans call it nurunji (crunchy rice). They pour hot water in it and you can eat the mixture with the banchan. They don't give you a huge selection of banchan but I like the dishes they serve. The sprouts, potatoes and cucumbers are my favorites I think.
The place isn't the cleanest place but the food comes out quick and I think they're open 24hrs. I've had the bulgogi here and wasn't a big fan. Stick to the chigaes (soups). The sogogi bokumbap (beef fried rice) was pretty solid. Not awesome but good and filling.
Last time I was here I got a kimchee sundubu and the beeff fried rice and the bill was a bit over $20. Pretty solid deal for the quantity and quality of the food. Been here a bunch of times.
They have valet parking but not at all hrs. Not sure what the exact schedule is...
I'm a fan.Listed in: Beyond Umshik: Hanguk in…

I love the tofu soup here. BCD makes the BEST soondubu ever! Each tofu soup is about $10 dollars. They also have alot of other Korean dishes..Kalbi, seafood pancake, etc
This place is always busy. the service here is not as good. But you get your food fast.
I also love the little traditional dishes they give you
Will definitely return again! -

Great stew. You have got to get the spicy ones. If you can't handle the heat, they have several levels of varying heat. The higher the level, the more chilli powder gets thrown in. I love the flavor of chilli so it's awesome.
The seafood pancake is also great.
Haven't been here in about two years, but will be visiting soon. YUM. -
Review from K D.
New York, NY
I've been here countless times. From lunch time, to dinner, to the wee hours of the night you can technically count as breakfast.
The tofu never disappoints me. Three simple words: OX TAIL, SPICY. No matter how sleepy, how hungry, or how inebriated I am, They've never failed to bring me my bubbling hot bowl of deliciousness.
Their kimchi fried rice is out of this world as well. Certainly if you're in no condition to avoid burning yourself on the tofu soup, I'd recommend this dish instead.
Do be forewarned that their service is acceptable at the most, and sometimes quite terrible (especially in the late hours). But really... if these servers work double shifts all day every day to keep this place open 24 hrs for me to enjoy, then a little attitude problem is okay with me! -
Review from John L.
Another Asian treat for me today. I did dim sum's in Chinatown and for dinner I got Korean in Flushing.
We have been coming here for a couple of years now. I love there piping hot soondubu. We also got the bbq short ribs and bbq squid. Both of them were absolutely Delicious. Good to the last drip of sauce.
Today was perfect for the soondubu as it was nice and cold out. Oxtail is my favorite.
What a nice day to end it with Korean food.
Back to Long Island I go. -

24-hour Korean restaurant would be a good place to hang out at late night!
Being a true Korean, this restaurant makes good enough Korean food! One of the waitresses was very funny she made jokes with us. awsome!
I will come back to treat my friends with nice Korean food. -
Review from Lili K.
Came here for lunch, and each tofu soup is priced at $10. This is a couple bucks less than the one in Manhattan, but yet again, the Manhattan one is much better in taste, and ambiance.
The side dishes were pretty dry, as if they'd been let outside for awhile. I got the dumpling tofu soup which was pretty flavorless as well, so I could only eat half of it. Bland... -

Do you ever wake up wanting soup? A nice warm comforting meal on a cold day? Or maybe you're hung over and need something to wake you up!
BCD is the answer!
This place has great soupy foods. There most famous is obviously their Soon Du Bu (tofu) but I also like their Kalbi Tang and some other thing I forgot the name of. But the soups are always have a clean and light taste to them (Korean cuisine is usually simple).
They have some bbq for the meat lovers and they're not too bad at all. Overall a great satisfying and comforting meal if you come here. Also its open 24 hrs! -

Elmhurst, NY
I wanted me some tofu! And I got me some here, at BCD.
So, the restaurant has two cold spots (read: avoid sitting there during the winter) the seats closest to the front, and the seats next to a covered up door and a side door towards the back of the restaurant.
The mini dishes were okay. I was actually a little disappointed. They served some pickles/cucumbers, kimchi, potatoes, and bean sprouts. The service was also a little standoffish. I wish I had a korean friend with me so I could ward off some of the unwelcoming looks.
The jap che tasted really really oily, which also means it tasted pretty good. The noodles were a little on the chewy side, otherwise cooked perfectly and salted well. The tofu soup was good, nothing spectacular. I was happy that it came out piping hot and my egg cooked all the way through. The mushrooms were the regular black top mushrooms you can buy in a can from the grocery stores, no shittaki or anything special.
Overall, a good spot for tofu soup if you are craving it. -

My friends are crazy about soft tofu...me, not so much. But whenever I do come, the service is ALWAYS horrible. I remember one incident where the lady was putting the ban chan down onto the table and asked her nicely for a diet coke. She never responded so I assumed she didn't hear me. I asked again and she gave me an attitude saying she heard me the first time. WELL MAYBE YOU SHOULD ACKNOWLEDGE IT THEN! Ugh!
The bulgogi is pretty dry and flavorless. The LA kalbi is well...the same as the bulgogi. The soft tofu is pretty standard.
I do love the noo roong ji thought.
