Very nice. Wifi. Power for computers everywhere.
As usual like at all libraries, no IMAP, nor POP email. -

If you are trying to find a quiet place to study, avoid this place at all cost. Most of the middle school aged students do not know how to be quiet and respectful.

This library is surprisingly impersonal for how small it is. Staff is pretty stand offish and generally unhelpful. Computers are usually all taken, but its a quiet, chill environment. I dont know if its still there but there used to be a little book store outside before entering the library and the two ladies who run it are always so sweet and helpful.

Thank you for being a County Library.
The place is small. But hello! open Sundays 1pm to 5pm and I have a book review due the next day, and I don't have a book yet. :D thank you Sunnyside Branch.
Your location is superb.
Next to Rohr park so if you feel like jogging 3 miles you could do so.
Want fish tacos? TJ oyster bar is across the street.
Han's and Harry's is down the road.
I used to come here when my internet at home was being uncooperative, bring my laptop and situate myself at a table.
You see the usual kids ab(using) the computers at the library to check out their myspace or playing some game on http://Nickelodeon.com. What gives?
Aside from that they have magazines, if I don't feel like spending $5 on one at a grocery store.
So yeah, yay for being a county library my card works at ~50 other locations :D -

The community room at the Bonita-Sunnyside Branch library is great for having public film screenings and community forums. Space has capacity for about 100-150 standing, 60-70 seated (that's with generous walking space, not smooshed space!), there is a large projector and A/V setup, and a ktichen area to stage small catering and/or hold snacks in the fridge.
The parking lot is fairly large, and landscaping is nice- building looks pretty new and is in same complex as the Bonita-Sunnyside local museum!
I think you can have the space on weekdays until 10PM, but don't know about weekends. Will try to find out about rental fees, but I think they're pretty reasonable as it's a public library.
As the event was later in the evening, I wasn't able to see the rest of the library (you know, the part with actual books) but from the looks of the Community Room and outside space, I'm sure it's quite nice too! -

I hereby offer the final star. After visiting Sunnyside a number of times over the last 6 weeks, I have decided that it is absolutely perfect. While each person's needs vary, mine are all met in this fine establishment.
What possessed me to change my mind? I was lobbied by a special interest group but it really came down to one thing. Visiting other libraries. The more I visit, the better Sunnyside gets. At this pace it could very soon get a sixth star!
How would I like my library? Sunnyside up, please!Listed in: My Neighborhood, Libraries

Let me tell you a little story, I know you all are probably sick of my stories. I have decided to go back to school and get my Masters RD (reg dietican) anyway I have been hanging out at the library so much they think I work there! (happened another time when I use to be addicted to the YMCA) so my kid, forgot to turn in his book and got a $5 fine. I told him he had two options pay it, with his allowance or explain himself. His brain started ticking and he then decided he would rather have $5 in his pocket, (or in ten year old more candy in his mouth when I am not looking) He stood up like a peacock and explained himself. The wonderful delightful librarian lady attentively listened to his little story of how he forgot to turn it in, and waived the fine. Same thing happened to me, a fine of course, zoom, fine waived!
This little gem of a library is clean, peaceful, almost zen like. Comfy chairs, wide desk, computers to use. A wonderful selection of books and videos fill the shelves and the staff is friendly and inviting if you live in the area go! If not it is worth the trip (plus they are open up everyday unlike the city libraries). -

this is a small county library. i dont do the studying in the library thing anymore so i cant really comment on that. i do go there to pick up books that ive requested online to be delivered. its been about 10 yrs since ive been in a library but with the economic situation buying books brand new is a luxury i cant really have right now, so i borrow. i love that you can have a book delivered from one county library to another. wow! lol. also there is a quick check out. holy cow was i so confused the first time. ive always been pretty tech savy but i guess i didnt figure the library was so into electronics. i love that i order my books, they get delivered, i get notified, i go there, walk in, grab the books from the self, walk to the computer and check out and im DONE!!

This place has bad service! I went there once to try and return a book but the lady said I needed a library card and when I gave it to her she said it was the wrong one! I drove 20 minutes for nothing!!! I've gotten the same stupid worker 3 times and she's never smiled or said hello to me!!!! I definitely don't like this library! Oh and then I tried to open up a library card and the sane dumb lady said I couldn't how stupid!!! She should be fired!!! UGH!!!

Great library! They have a wider selection of materials (especially DVDs) compared to other branches. Reserves are always organized on time, they have great events in the meeting room and I really like the friendly staff.

This was remolded like a couple of years ago and I don't know why I never bothered to come here until now. I'm actually writing this in the library, sitting in a quite comfortable armchair, by the fireplace.
The library itself is visually pleasing. But it's small. And it's actually fairly crowded, so don't even try to get a good seat. I just got lucky.
As to why I'm here. I don't frequent public libraries very often. It's just that UCSD is one of those schools where the GE requirements are crazy. I'm a human bio major and they've got me writing a paper on clashing cultures between 1500 and 1750 for my Making of the Modern World class. And not only that, I have to take it for, count em, 6 quarters. So yeah that's why I'm here.
Anyway, this library has nothing. I was thinking about writing on the isolation of Japan and how the West was there and then they weren't because Japan had some "trust" issues. Well I looked and this library only has one of those skinny elementary school books complete with size 16 font. I guess I'm going to the Civic Center library in about 30 minutes since it doesn't open until noon.
I mean, every library down here opens at either 10 or 12. This is the only one open before that, so I guess I have to settle. Also, to all those who discovered that you could actually get things from other libraries sent down...that's really nothing unique. Many libraries do that, especially if their county libraries and such. Actually looking at a book makes more sense to me though, because the online service doesn't always give you the complete picture of what's inside or not inside a book. Not that I'm a hater or anything. Back on topic...The bathrooms here really nice though. Well, if they didn't have hairy sweaty people using them. Why can't the joggers use the bathroom at the golf course where they run? Instead they have to take their smelly selves in here and pollute the air. So I'd skip this place for the Civic Center any day. Unless you like tons of noise, religious kids in white shirts with bicycles, sweaty joggers, and reading standing up. -
