From my blog:
After the holidays, I made time to visit the Bonita Knitting Store, after finding it on Yelp. I cannot believe that I had never noticed this place. I suppose I had never been in San Diego long enough to.
It's tucked away in a little corner in Bonita in an unsuspecting old fashioned strip mall. I was also happy to see that I had walked in during their after-Christmas sale! That meant the store was covered in sales on ALL items.
They have a great assortment of natural fiber yarns in a lot of classic colors and a beautiful selection of multi-colored yarns. You can check their website for the brands they stock.
The atmosphere is very warm and comfortable. I walked in during a crochet class and was sweetly greeted by all the women in the shop. I chatted a bit with Susan, the owner of the store, and I couldn't believe that the store had been there for three years. But then again I've only been knitting for about two.
I walked out with four skeins of Berrocco Yarn for some very last minute holiday presents. I think they're worth the wait since the Cuzco line is made of super soft and luxurious Superfine Alpaca and Peruvian Wool... and was ON SALE!
I was so glad when I found out this store was open & not 15 minutes away from my house. The staff is very friendly & knowledgeable. I received help on my pattern plus finding yarn & needles for my first knitting project. I found a yarn I loved & needed 7 skeins for the project. They only had 6, but a customer that frequents the store regularly offered to bring in the leftover skein of the same yarn from a project that she finished. What a nice woman & a life saver. I definitely go to Bonita Knitting if I need anything for a project. If they don't have what I need, the staff has always pointed me in the right direction for finding the item at another store.
Definitely one of my favorites in San Diego. Warm, friendly, and knowledgeable. What more could you ask for? Oh yeah - the yarn and nnotions are top-notch, too!
This place is small, but packs in a really cool selection of unique yarns. They also have classes and a super-helpful staff. Worth the drive if you're not in South Bay.
