In the two years since I left Salt Lake City, I had forgotten how enchanting I find the outdoorsy coffee shops of the West. Bongo Billy's has the Mountain West atmosphere of people who care about their coffee, and it has the coffee to match. Mine was dark, bitter, strong, and tasty.
Maybe you wouldn't think that would be worth reviewing from two time zones away, but maybe you've never woken up in your campsite on a ridge in the beautiful Colorado summer with a serious coffee craving. (Not to mention your wife's even-stronger craving.)
]They had a huge array of surprisingly-good-looking gluten-free pastries, too, but I was too focused on coffee to try any.] -

Billy's is one of those local stops, or a must-stop if you are making a trek into the mountains. It has the basic gourmet capuccino/coffee shop plus lunch plus pastry fare and some of the sandwiches are quite good. My only dislike is that it's akward to get from the order spot to the pickup spot as the place is long and narrow, and when it's crowded service can be a bit slow.
They have exceptionally nice bathrooms and an exceptionally nice view. -

When you see tons of people lining up to get into a place, it makes you wonder if it just might be worth stopping. We stopped and got the iced coffee. There were so many things that were on their menu that were tempting, but the coffee...simply amazing. Iced coffee that was as rich as if it were steaming from a mug. The staff was great. There was a great energy about this place...smiling, playful staff and delicious coffee...it just felt right. Go see for yourself.

This is a very cute place. It has a certain charm about it. I found this place to be very clean. Even the bathrooms were in great shape. That's always nice, right? Oh, and the view. The view is absolutely gorgeous from their sitting area.
They have a very large menu of all kinds of hot drinks and food as well. My husband didn't care for their breakfast burrito, but I didn't get a chance to taste it myself. My chai was great.
I would certainly stop in again if driving through Buena Vista. -

Yummy yummy coffee selection!
They had a good looking menu for breakfast and lunch sandwhiches and burritos too. The staff was friendly and the place had good ambiance. -

What's not to like? Great location, great coffee, excellent food items & free wifi along with a great view of the Collegiate Peaks from the porch & deck seating areas. Have I ever been to BV & skipped BBs? I thinketh not.

I have been in to B.B.s quite a few times and I am not very impressed. The idea of roasting beans locally and buying fair trade organic is good. The quality over the last five years seems to have deteriorated. Espresso comes out bitter and the crema dissipates immediately. I don't think the machine are being cleaned often enough. Their beans has always been OK. The coffee shop is not very clean when it is busy. The staff are friendly but not trained baristas. The eats are good. Sorry but I can't give more than two stars even if I wanted.

Really good coffee! Really good food! Really good bakery things that I pack away to eat later on!

This is where I first learned to appreciate coffee, so it has a special place in my heart. It's nothing amazing, but it's the best you'll find in the valley. Good, strong espresso.

When we entered this place the line was long and the staff was slammed. This should have been our first clue to leave, so we blame ourselves. The menu is impossible to understand. All we wanted was a couple of turkey sandwiches. After an exhausting convo with the person taking the order - it came down to him telling me not to pay attention to the menu on the board above his head. It wasn't just us, as I waited for the food, time after time each customer was baffled by trying to order from the menu. One beverage showed up at the "pick up area" so we shared it as we waited on the patio. One sandwich came up - so we split it while waiting for the second one. Then the second drink appeared... and finally about 30 minutes later - the second sandwich arrived. Each item having missed the mark of what we ordered. Missing cheese, wrong bread, and beverages with flavoring not asked for. I'm guessing they are only busy a couple of days a week so we obviously caught then at a bad time. Not a problem - we will reduce how busy they will be in the future - by two.
