Review from Marqus R.
While walking (not cruising) the streets of Wilton Manor I happened upon Bona's, a place where I had eaten often but not within the last decade. I liked it back then, so I thought I would try it again. I'm pleased to say that it hasn't changed all that much over the years and that I still find it enjoyable.
The meals are of course Italian, but a very Americanized Italian with a sort of southern Italian or Sicilian accent to them. At least I'd certainly take exception to any claims of authenticity unless they would mean authentic to the likes of South Philadelphia.
However, I found their preparations good. My salad was fresh, crispy and though at an extra charge of one dollar, the Gorgonzola crumbled cheese topping was a nice touch.
My main meal of veal Siciliano was huge, way more than I could possibly eat in one sitting but delicious enough that I was happy to box the remains to have later.
I was also pleased that within the last decade they had removed the frumpy little old lady type of drapes so that now, from my table, I had a nice, clear, pleasant, unobstructed view of the Drive and local street activities which I find much more entertaining than other pizza oriented restaurants offering little more than flat screen amusement.
As in the decade past, Bona's is still clean, neat, orderly and with a knowledgeable, friendly wait staff. And though it wasn't open, I noted an adjoining room bar area that I of which I have no previous recollection.
Thanks to the fact that my Yelp sun glasses totally failed to conceal my other than Yelp life identity, I was invited to sit with a number of younger people who stopped by after their phony ID failed to impress the local bartenders. It gave me the chance to try a variety of their order of Bona's freshly prepared pizzas, all of which were every bit equivalent to some of the best found around the likes of South Philly or Chicago though nothing even close to what one finds in Italy.
So, ten years ago I was a fan of Bona's and today I remain a fan. -

I did not expect Wilton Manors to have a place that serves food that tastes like authentic Italian and was pleasantly surprised eating at Bona.
They offer dine in, carry out and delivery. We dined in. They started off with some garlic rolls (choice of plain or garlic or mix of two) that were hot, soft and delish.
My parter got the manicotti and I got baked ziti. We both got a Caesar salad as our side.
The salads were made fresh and huge. In fact, we had to leave some salad to the side or we'd fill up before our entrée arrived.
Our entrée arrived as we were wrapping up our salads and the portions were huge. Neither of us were able to finish and took them home to eat as leftovers.
The food was simply amazing. The sauce that they use is nice and sweet, something that a lot of places we've eaten at seemed to shy away from.
You should certainly check this place out -- you'll probably love it if you're a fan of Italian. -

Had a pizza delivered to the bar down the street so I can't comment on the facility but the pizza was very, very good. Simple but still lots of flavor.
We paid $20 for a large 2-topping and it was delivered in about 20 minutes on a Friday night. -

It is rumored that Bona is for sale, but, unfortunately, the mismanaged city government of Wilton Manors has made continuing business on Wilton Drive impossible due to a lack of parking. As a result, Bona (who is required to have a certain amount of parking) may not be able to open again as a restaurant under city guidelines... ridiculous!! ... See below:
Bona Italian and Pizza, near 5 points in Wilton Manors, carries a wide variety of Italian influenced foods and pizza.
Unfortunately, this once 4 or 5 star rated restaurant has gone down-hill in the last year or so.
Though probably not the best Italian food in Ft.Lauderdale-Wilton Manors, for location and price, it's an ok deal.
But my issue is not with the food, it's with the cleanliness. The restaurant was filthy during my most recent visits. The floors were dirty, the window trim was dusty, and the restaurant smelled as if the sewer had backed up. The bathroom was absolutely nasty, with no soap and a filthy toilette and floor. It made me wonder how clean the kitchen was.
Food: B+

Location: A (2.6 miles from downtown Ft. Lauderdale)
Valet parking: None - street parking only.
Overall: B -Listed in: My Neighborhood

Really? People think this is some of the best Italian food they've ever had? Really?
I didnt care for it. I had the veal, my date had the soup. everything tasted like it came out of a can. And the prices were high for the meh-quality food.
I've had much better. -

I like the comfortable and simple decor.
Food is good -- I love the garlic bread, and the shrimp and scallop scampi I had was delicious.
Bona Pizza is a great place to go to have a nice meal with friends. -

I always enjoyed it for a relatively cheap and quick dinner. I probably was there around 20 times and never had a complaint.
