I went today and had the lunch buffet. Be warned this is not like Chinese buffets which are huge. There are only about 6 or 8 dishes including rice. But what there was on the buffet was delicious. And there was rice pudding which was more liquid then I'm used to but it was so good!!! I also found the place clean and the staff very nice. I'm going back soon!

I've eaten Indian food in more than 10 countries so far. This is a very good Indian restaurant. I stopped in during the October Nor'easter of 2011. Few area restaurants had electricity and those open were packed. Bombay Tandoor looked like business as usual. Perhaps because the locals are more burger and potato types, I've never seen this restaurant jammed. Always an open table or 4. BYOB makes it even more of a bargain. Bring your own wine and they'll provide the glasses and corkscrew.

For being the only Indian option in the area, Bombay Tandoor Grill fortunately did not disappoint.
My husband and I finally got around to trying Bombay, and opted for some takeout to test the place out. We ordered the Lamb Korma, Chicken Tikka Masala, Regular and Sweet Naan. The restaurant itself is very unassuming, set in an old mini strip mall. While picking up the food, I got a quick look at the interior, which was actually pretty spacious with a simple casual atmosphere. They offer a buffet option, but it appeared to be very small.
We were very pleased with our dinners. The portions were generous, plenty to go around. The mild Korma and slightly spicy Tikka Masala sauces were rich, creamy, and quietly delicious. The naan was warm and soft and had that nice oven flavor.
Bombay has earned its place in our takeout rotation.Listed in: Local Eats

If you want Indian food and do not want to go all the way to Shrewsbury, then you can count on this place. The food is not brilliant or extremely bad, it is so so. You can count on getting Indian food for what Indian food is. I have tried mostly the vegetarian dishes and have always gotten things as takeout.
The price is good and the service is quick. -

Sorry but I have experienced better.
Sunday night, it was quiet and only a few customers.
The family was there, running the place.
Started with the coconut soup which was decent and hot, very sweet, almost a dessert.
We brought our wine (bonus).
Garlic naan was fresh and very garlicky and good.
The mixed tandoori grill was dreadful. It was mostly all dried out, except for the chicken legs and thighs. Inedible. The lamb, boneless chicken, shrimps, was shriveled up it was so dry. Not serviceable in my book.
The lentils in sauce that came with the mixed grill was bland. No flavor at all. Another bad sign.
The basmati rice was fresh and generous portion.
Service was very good and friendly.
The bathrooms and restaurant in general, was clean.
I would try one more time to look for repeated patterns.Listed in: Bring Your Own Wine (or…

By far the best Indian food I have tasted. I have ate at several higher end restaurants in Cambridge and Boston and nothing else compares. This is the best.

The lunch buffet here is the best deal in Fitchburg. Reasonably priced, great food and authentic Indian cooking and taste. Very good.

Bombay Tandoor Grill is another one of those great little hidden diamonds in North Central, MA. Every time I have been here I have been completely satisfied with the food and service. Great kebabs are a great start then just order everything else on the menu. Then you can have real Indian deserts that are also fantastic but I forget their names.

It was alright. Not the best looking place, but the food seems ok. Like someone else mentioned earlier, there's a lack of options in the area. My brother and I ordered onion nan, chicken tikki masala, and chicken tandoori to share.
The onion nan was fairly decent. The chicken tikki masala was spicier than I expected. The chicken tandoori is ok, but a little dry. They gave us a side of lentils and that was nice.
If you crave Indian cuisine and don't want to drive too far.. I guess this is the place -

My wife and I stopped in for dinner and we both really enjoyed it. I wish we'd stopped in here years ago.
If I hadn't seen this on Yelp, I would have never stopped in due to the location and unassuming outside appearance. Inside, it was clean and much larger than I expected.
We shared the chicken khorma, lamb vindaloo and an order of garlic naan. The khorma was very flavorful and we'd definitely get it again. The vindaloo was tasty, though too spicy for my wife to have much (though she did like it). The garlic naan was good, though needed a dash of salt.
We will definitely be back and will bring a bottle of wine with us next time. -

mixed feelings....service was friendly and prompt...
I ordered an unsweetened iced tea and there was some kind of a slimy mold thing floating around inside of it =(. I was freaked out by that but I did not complain because I felt rude doing so..instead I drank iced water which was fine considering it was super hott out...
my boyfriend ordered a sweet mango drink and it was delicious.
it was 93 degrees in the shade yesterday in fitchburg and I was hoping the resteraunt would be air conditioned but it was probably around 88 degrees inside...we were both a bit put off by that..i mostly felt bad for whomever was cooking in such heat...they had an AC that seemed to be only running on fan mode..
On to the meal:
pakoras were good but a bit tough to chew which i thought was odd...samosas weren't bad but i think they were microwaved...the outside was kind of soft and didn't have a nice puffy feel.
i got baigan bharta for my meal and it was good but not brilliant...it did not have the lovely smokey flavor that the slowcooked dish should have..I suspect it was frozen and microwaved..it came out PIPING hot in temperature..almost un naturally hot..I had to wait about 10 minutes before I could even eat it..
the naan was not bad and the rice was just right...almost sweet..
my boyfriend, a non veg head..opted for the mango chicken dish which he finished all of.....he seemed to throuroughly enjoy it..
all in all..the bill came to around 50 dollars with tip. Not cheap by anymeans...I suppose Bombay Tandoor Grill is good considering the location..I willl eat there again but only because Fitchburg has so little to offer.. -

Indian food in Fitchburg? WTF?! And yet, surprisingly GOOD Indian food in Fitchburg. Apparently my assumptions were all incorrect. (You know what they say about "assume"- makes an "ass" out of "u" and "me".) This little place is really quite authentic, quite delicious, and quite surprising! Though they don't have liquor, they do permit BYOB... the only downside to our evening is that my Leominster peeps didn't remember this and so I drank diet coke instead of a nice chilled white burgundy (which would have been really good with the Tikka Masala). We had lightly spicy pakoras that had a perfectly crunchy exterior and soft potatoey goodness inside. Their rice was fluffy and although their tikka masala wasn't as rockin' as Bombay Club, it was really good and unusual. Less creamy than other tikka masalas I've eaten, but really satisfying anyway. We ate ourselves into a state of suspended animation and my friend almost unbuttoned her pants and popped a pepto bismol because it's impossible to have impulse control in the face of pashwari naan.
One thing to keep in mind as a heads up from one of my dining companions who frequents this place: there is a slightly "off" man who "volunteers" there clearing tables because he is lonely and is apparently under the mistaken impression that the owners are his friends. He will come over when you are done eating to take your plates and will try to engage you in conversation. Understand that if you do engage him, he'll sit down and snuggle up to you in an awkward and bizzar-o way, ensaring you in inappropriately familiar conversation. Try not to make eye contact to avoid a protracted discussion of his life and times. He usually appears after you have finished your meal, so you're safe until you've cleared your plate. -

This is a modest looking place in a even modest-er looking town. Not much atmosphere here. But it does have a friendly Indian couple making great food at a good price. The food was as good as I've gotten in much nicer looking establishments--the naan was even better. As recommended by another reviewer, I tried the sweet naan which was complemented with coconut and finely chopped almonds. This could be great as a dessert. It was also a fire buster for the chicken vindaloo I ordered, which was extremely spicy as expected. Unfortunately, it really made me sick afterwards and I think I just can't order this, my favorite Indian dish again. But I would go back to try other dishes if I happen to be up the road shopping at Kappys.

Awesome! One of the few Fitchburg food establishments that is neither a donut shop nor a mediocre pizza place. Place to get my naan fix on when I visit the old hometown.

FANTASTIC FOOD! GREAT SERVICE! SUPER FRIENDLY, KIND FAMILY BUSINESS!
We love Bombay Tandoor! We eat here every other week, either take-out or eat in. We love the BYOB policy. I think we have had almost everything on the menu. I went through a phase of asking the owner to pick which dish I would have. The naan is made to order and so warm and wonderful. We have tried each flavor. I prefer the potato-filled bread and my husband LOVES the sweet naan. It has nuts, coconut, sugar and butter. yummy!
Our favorites are Chicken or Lamb Mango - delicious, rich and not too fruitty. The Vindaloo is AMAZING if you like heat! This dish is HOT!! The Biryani is very good and filled with chunks of chicken, lamb or loaded with veggies.
The appetizers are also worth trying. We love the spicy onion chutney served with the pakoras or allu tikki (season potato patties).
The owners are a kind, hard-working family that take pride in their food and welcome their diners. Vivian's comments about the "friend" who pitches in are greatly embellished. We've seen this man helping out on a regular basis and have never had an exchange with him aside saying hello, asking how the meal is and offering us more water. -

My friend brought me here for the first time A few months ago and I go back all the time now. It is always dead and at first that may be intimidating but once you try the food youll be glad you stayed. Their Coconut soup is delish and a small is big enough to share. Home made Naan is amazing, try all the flavors. Its also a great place for vegetarians like myself. And Its BYOB so grab your favorite bottle of wine and come enjoy some authentic indian food!

It was so hard being vegetarian growing up in the sticks. Thank you for being there Bombay! The staff are quiet but the guy is super nice if you get to talk to him. Not much for ambiance (it is in Crackburg), kinda strip-mally looking but that just makes you feel like you found the Ark in a snake pit. They give you like 800 pakoras and the entrees are splitable size. Cheap tasty buffet. Just as good as the joints in the city. My 3 favorite Indian restaurants are Rangoli, Kashmere, and Bombay, in no particular order. Oh and BYOB rules!

I used to go here all of the time, fully knowing that it was overpriced and sub-quality. But for this area, there are no options. I was scared off by the lack of cleanliness. Kinda scary.

I love this restaurant! I lived in the house next door to the little strip mall where this restaurant is located. I became friendly with the family that owns it. They are very friendly & their food is amazing! I've probably got 10 or more of my friends addicted to this restaurant! Don't forget that you can get take out....& their lunch buffet is a super deal!
