West Covina, CA
It was my first time eating here but my co-worker eats there at least once a month. We went there with our boss and his wife and they were both Indian Food newbies. We were all impressed. We started with a few appetizers and unfortunately I don't recall the names of any of them. We had a spicy chicken which was very good, and some super thin bread topped with a veggie/tomato mix. Very good.
For dinner I ordered the chicken tikka masala with garlic nan. Both were fantastic and I can't wait to go back and order the same thing again. I tried my bosses soup which was a creamy chicken and lentil soup I believe and I loved it...which is pretty crazy because I don't really like soup but I could and definitely would order this every time I go back. Don't order the dinner salad go with soup...the salad is iceberg lettuce, very boring.
And at this point we were all perfectly content but since we were on our companies dime we ordered desert. They had three to choose from so we ordered all three. One was a hard to describe but it was doughy like, and warm...looked like frozen grapes but wasn't, it was okay. Another was rice pudding which was also okay. Last but not least was the mango ice cream which was to die for...where do we buy that on the outside is my question...yummers!
All in all I would highly recommend and can't wait to go back and bring some more Indian Food newbies with me. -

For $10 a person, the lunch buffet is a steal. Food includes, fresh fruit, salads, rice, chicken, 5 or 6 different curries/palak paneer and naan bread.
There was hardly anyone else in the restaurant, but it wsa a little noisy from the indian music videos they play on the tvs....
I will admit, its not the best curry I've had, but the price makes up for it. My only complaint is that our waiter, the only waiter in the restaurant when we were there, was playing on his phone most of the time. He didn't realize we were finished for about 10 mins. -

I've only been to a handful of Indian places and I have to say that this place is good if you want a quick bite. They offer a buffet during lunch for about $10. Their garlic naan is so good! I usually don't eat lamb, so I went for the Chicken Tikki Masala and the Tandoori Chicken, which were very tasty and perfect together with the naan. I didn't care much for their dessert, i.e. rice pudding.

This place has delicious food. I came here with my dad and we ordered a little bit of everything so we could try it all. We ordered the Chicken Tikka, Lamb, and Chicken Curry with rice, roti and garlic naan. Everything was so delicious and the servers were very nice. At the time they were having a party in the banquet room so we got to listen to the beautiful indian music. I will be returning again :-)

This is a great place to take a date, the muted acoustics in the back dining room are excellent. The pirces were reasonable, my gf got the Makhni made with tofu and I had the tandoori chicken. We also had some potato pancake things to start with that were very good. To be honest the chicken was not five star but they had the best garlic naan I've ever had. I'm not sure if they've got a lunch buffet.

After months of driving by I finally decided to stop in. The chicken special was perfect because it offers there top 4 chicken dishes. The chicken 65 has great flavor, tender and has a nice crunch. It comes with another bbq style chicken. Its served fajita style hot sizzling with grilled onions and bell peppers.
The chicken masala was so good. The spices and flavors are bold but not overwhelming. All the side dishes were amazing. The prices are very fair and service was friendly and helpful. I'm looking forward to returning. -

As an avid lover of Indian food, I have tried many Indian restaurants, in the UK and in the US, this place rates to me as 3 stars. If I was rating on the food alone, I would give 4 stars, since it is good but not the best.
Why 3 stars.... We were a regular to this restaurant since moving to Upland in 2003, frequenting the place regularly, however, this has given us the opportunity to watch the place go from Excellent to Good in this time frame. The food is still as tasty as ever but the portions have shrunk quite a bit. Less meat than they used to put in the dishes before.
There are other options in the local area that tops this place. Shame since this was once top rated in my book. Yelp hits the nail on the head with other higher rated Indian restaurants in the area, check them out! -
Review from Neil A.
Food was a solid 4 star! Flavorful, spicy, and tasty! Nan was fresh and warmed to just melt in your mouth. We had a chicken curry, lamb dish and the bistro special which was $35 and served 2-4 people. 4 people is a stretch but 2 people with 2 other picking it was perfect.
The atmosphere was pretty boring. Plain white walls, with tables and chairs.
Service was good. For us it was just a husband and wife(?). As there was only 1 or 2 other tables it was easy for them to handle.
If there was a restaurant I would nominate for kitchen nightmares it would be this place. Not because of the food. But it could use a solid face lift. And injection of energy. I felt kinda bad hey where that slow on a Friday night.
We will return again and try other dishes as the food was that good! -

My family & I came by here on a whim... we were all feeling like Indian food and yelped and came up with Bombay Bistro.
Walking in, the restaurant wasn't appealing to the visual. The atmosphere was nothing. Just a big banquet room with tid bits of Indian decorations. We were seated right away and everything went smoothly. I ordered the Mumbai Martini, a mango martini & that was DELISH! I was tempted to get another. For my entrée, my mum in law & I decided to split the Bombay Bistro special which included Chicken 65, Tikka Masala, Spinach stuff, & Naan/Rice. The amount is plenty for 3 people. I especially liked the Chicken 65. We didn't want any bell peppers & they customized it to our taste.
So... I would have given 5 if the aesthetics were a tad better... but for the food... AWESOME!l -

Asked for a cup of Coke, they opened a hot 1 liter bottle and put little ice. All the food was COLD- talk about fearing food poisoning. Remember the scene in slumdog millionaire when the kid ends up covered in sheeit? Imagine that as your dining experience. Im not kidding! i couldnt pinpoint where that odor was coming from but it was intense. total lack of ventilation to make matters worse. Is eating with flies buzzing your face also part of the authentic indian dining experience too? i really wanted to leave with out paying...... STAY AWAY! HEALTH HAZARD!!!

This is, by far, my favorite Indian food place. The only reason that I am not giving them 5 stars is because their service can be slow. However, I have been coming here for years, so they have a spot in my heart.
I would highly recommend their Chicken Tikka Masala. It is always delicious and they can adjust the level of hotness to your liking. Their lentil soup used to be very tasty, but something has definitely changed, so I would highly recommend the Mulagutani soup (chicken and lentils, in a delicious creamy base). I also highly recommend their garlic naan....yummy!
The Mini Sampler is a great appetizer that includes their veggie samosas, pakoras and a deep fried cottage cheese item that I can't remember the name of. Very tasty, however, in recent times, this sampler's portions have shrunken, so I would not recommend this appetizer for more than two people.
Everything else that we have tried has been tasty as well. Their lunch buffet is a great value and is great for those who want to sample different items. -

You just cant beat this place when it comes to indian lunch buffets!
$20/ person gets you all the indian food you can eat!
Although Manny M. did suggest to try Koyla, $10/person, I haven't tried it yet though. Since that persons account has been closed. lol, I'll write more on that later.Listed in: Good for Groups

I really love this place!
The food is great - I love the chicken 65, the chicken tikka masala, and the naan. I always eat SO much, its just so tasty I can't stop! They will make it as spicy (or as mild) as you want, and they always bring it out steaming hot. Today I also tried their tandoori lamb, and it was awesome!
The family who runs this place is very friendly. They always recognize my fiance and I when we go in, and they are super sweet. The service is good.
I only gave them 4 stars because the the atmosphere here is less than stellar. Its dark, run down, and kind of tacky - though I actually kind of like the Bollywood music videos they always have playing.. ;-p
The lunch buffet is also not super great - I suggest sticking to the menu.
Definitely worth a try if you are in the neighborhood and want some good Indian food from a nice, family-owned restaurant. -

Came here for lunch and ate the buffett; loved it! Lots of different curries and even a salad bar. Their rice pudding is very yummy and the Garlic Naan was excellent! Everything was fresh and the bar was stocked with adequate amounts of food so that it had to be replaced often, meaning: everything was very fresh from the kitchen. Waiter was attentive and we were in and out with very full bellies in under 30min. Good food, coming here again!

I came here for lunch with my mom and my boyfriend, and we had a great time! We ordered garlic naan, a couple of different lamb curries, and a goat curry. All of the curries were spicy, but not too spicy; in the mild to medium range. I really couldn't pick my favorite dish, because they're all so good! They all came with white rice, big chunks of meat, and more food than we could finish. We left completely full, and were eating curry for days! I saw their full bar, but we were too busy stuffing our faces to try the drinks. We'll definitely be going back some another time.

1. Interesting location as it's next to a reptile store.
2. No, they don't serve reptiles.
3. No beef. DUH!
4. Try the mango yogurt drink. YUM!
5. Naan is a must. -

My boyfriend and I shared one of their deals for 2 people that included an appetizer and the 2 entrees with rice and naan.
The first thing that came out was the Tandoori Chicken on a sizzling platter. It was very citrusy tasting and was delish.
Then the rest of everything came out with the spinachy/tofu Palak Paneer (I think that's what it's called) was pretty good and the Chicken Tikka Masala.
About that Tikka Masala; the reviews don't lie. It was really good.
this "deal" also came with rice and naan (bread).
All this food we got for 2 people was about $40; and we even had some left overs to take home. -

As others have mentioned, the lunch buffet is a great deal. I have never had Indian food so when my dad suggested this place for lunch I was all for it. The buffet was a good price and allowed me to try several things. The food was tasty. I will definitely be returning.

Found this place by accident while on an appointment in Montclair. The interior is nice,--red walls, black trim, rope lighting, but it just feels like it could use a little hug.
We ordered the chicken tikka and veal tikka bistro portions. Both dishes were served with lentil soup, rice and naan. Everything was really good and the portions were excellent. It's a bit pricier than other Indian restaurants, but it was all very satisfying. The service was extremely attentive. -

I've been going to Bombay Bistro for a few years now and I've always been very happy with the food and service.
Most recently, I tried the Bombay Bistro Special for 2 which includes the Chicken 65 appetizer, served with Tandoori Chicken. This was my first time trying the chicken 65 and it was delicious! Crispy, boneless chicken with a kick. So good, but really hot as it comes to your table sizzling on a skillet.
The special also includes naan, basmati rice, Palak Paneer and Chicken Tikka Masala. The servings were on the smaller side, but that just means you'll have room for dessert, or my favorite: more naan!
Bombay Bistro can also help you out if you have large groups to feed. I've been to/helped at events at the colleges that served food from Bombay and it was fabulous. They restaurant is really nice and helpful when ordering/picking up, too.
They're open for dinner until 10 every day! -

We've been coming here for years, and we love this place. We have fours kids from infant to nine years old and they also love this place. The food is good, the prices are right, and the service is fantastic!!!
We usually order the "Bombay Bistro" which comes with a ton of food for under $40. We always have leftovers. The great price on this family sized entree allows us to indulge in other stuff like lassis, parathas, various appetizers, and of course, dessert. Their rice pudding (kheer) is very good - not too sweet, really good texture).
Go and enjoy. If you go the last Friday of the month there are live belly dancers, although I think I saw more belly than dancing... -

I have been coming here since we first moved out to the area back in '93. The food is pretty good, and they have a good selection of Indian beers which go surprisingly well with the main entrees.
My favorites here are Chicken Tikka Masala and Palak Paneer (veggie), which go well with rice and/or bread. Service here is also good; waiters are attentive and there's rarely a wait for a table. -
Review from Jadira R.
I wanted to like this place. The reviews seemed good and it just looked so cute inside. Clearly, I was deceived.
The service lacked and the waiter was extremely soft spoken, so it wasn't very welcoming. We also waited about 5 minutes after entering the door for someone to come out and greet us. I think they were all just back in the kitchen, but still, it was dinner time, that's not something they should be doing. When we got one of our meat dishes, we wanted rice so we asked the other waiter if we could have some and he said "did you want that now or later?" WTH. Because I really like rice for dessert...
The food, wow, what can I say about that? Well I was very disappointed to say the least. This is probably the worst Indian food I've ever tasted. I never thought I'd try Indian food that I didn't like. It wasn't even like I tried anything new. I stuck to my same tikka massala and palak paneer order, but it just tasted so bad to me. The tikka and the paneer were both SWEET and that's something totally unexpected and it definitely wasn't a pleasant surprise.
I don't know, I didn't like this place. I feel bad giving an Indian place such a low score because I never thought I'd do this. This is also the first Indian place I've tried in CA, since I'm from Vegas and I was just not satisfied. The only thing I liked about the place was the decorations and the presentation of the food. -
Review from Daryl I.
This is probably one of the better Indian restaurants in our area, then again, we will never take the place of Artesia or Cerritos. I've been a few times, for both lunch and dinner, and it never seems like it gets very crowded, so it's a safe bet if you just want to go some place and not have to wait. Maybe it's the location, which is set inside a strip mall off the main street. Right next to a reptile shop.
The service is really good, which is an added bonus, or a by-product of not being too busy. They have a number of dinner specials that allow you to try and number of different items with your meal, sort of like a combo dinner that you usually see in Chinese restaurants. I think one of my favorite dishes here is their Chicken 65, which was flavorful and juicy. In fact, this is the first place I've ever tried it, and I thought it was better than their tandoori chicken. The other items I have had were merely competent, such as the Chicken Vindaloo, Rogan Josh (lamb), and Vegetable Pilao. -

Oh happy thoughts...I always get excited when I'm going to head to this place. I have been to many many Indian restaurants but this one is my fav.
The place may be misleading when you first walk in but trust me, ride it out its worth it. Although service can be a little slow at times the food will make up for it.
Try one of these tasty threesomes: Chicken Korma, Chicken Vindaloo or Garlic Chicken Tikka pair it up with some Basmatti Rice or Naan and you are set for Nirvana!! Its really, really, really good. Go and check it out and once you see how good it is you can be the "cool kid" who recommends the great Indian restaurant to eat at and don't worry you wont have to give me credit for it. :) -

Very decent Indian food! Prices are within normal price range as far as Indian restaurants go. The interior decor is very interesting... and they appear to have a full-bar. I've always had EXCELLENT service here, and they are oh so good about filling up your water consistently... and you know this stuff can get hot! If I'm in the mood for Indian around my place, this is the place I venture out to.
Two things I got last time that were yummy yummy: Chicken Korma and Chicken Tikka Masala of course! -

Rosemead, CA
3.5 stars. What killed a possible 4 stars was the chicken in the tikka massala wasn't fresh. It was like chewing small pieces of plastic.
But the rest of the Sunday "Champagne brunch" was pretty decent. The egg curry was nice because it was more tomato based. The tandori chicken was nice and fresh. I also really liked their samosas. They're the right size and while the skin is too doughy for my taste, the filling was spot-on. The garlic naan was tasty. I didn't have the champagne but had their chai which was pretty good.
The place wasn't too busy so service was decent.
For $10 for a Sunday brunch you can't beat it. I'd come back and try it again and perhaps give them 1 more star. -

So, unlike Michelin which grades based what's only on the plate, I have to use my prerogative to introduce other factors in this review. Because if it was based on what was on the plate, then I would have given Bombay 4 stars. The food really was delicious, and though I've had better elsewhere the food here stands on its own. I had the chicken tikka masala, done medium spicy, and it came out as that. Full of flavor and the right amount of heat. The naan was delicious as well, and piping hot when it came out. The mango lassi was ok, I'm not sure I would order this every time though. Maybe just once in a while, if I haven't had my lassi kick in a long while.
And the restaurant is pretty nice and clean, though a little dark for my preference. Servers were also nice, but one seemed a little inept.
Unfortunately, I have to knock them down a star because of the value. I spent WAY too much money for what I got. Sure it was delicious, but as I stated before, I've had better, and it was less expensive. Including entree, naan, lassi, tax & tip, I shelled out $30. Really??
So, I'll probably go again if others go, but leave it up to me, and I'd rather spend the money on gas to drive to Cerritos. -

This restaurant has been in Montclair as long as I can remember. It has changed owners a few times, some were better than others. I recently went back because it is the closest Indian food restaurant to my place - and hey, who doesn't love Indian food?
The last time I came here was probably over a year ago and I was not very impressed. But this time the food and service were excellent. I came here with a friend for dinner. Upon arrival we were greeted with papadum, green curry and tamarind sauces. We ordered veggie samosas, raita, aloo gobi, chicken tikka masala and garlic naaan. I asked for the main dishes spicy and was pleasantly surprised by the amount of heat each had. The aloo gobi was very interesting. Along with the potato and cauliflower there were large slices of zucchini and ginger in the dish. This added a wonderful flavor complexity, especially when you got a big piece of ginger. The chicken tikka masala was also very tasty, on par with many other Indian restaurants in the area (Haandi, Bombay). The naan was light and crispy - a bit well done which I enjoyed. Samosas were delicious, well flovored and the potatoes were smooth and balanced with the peas. For all of the dishes and 2 big beers (Karma is my favorite) the total came out to about $50 - which wasn't bad. There is a coupon on http://restaurant.com which I will definitely utilize on my next visit.

Went there for the lunch buffet- kind of small, but a good variety of meat and veggie dishes. Though the da'al was a little less tasty than some, they had very yummy vegetable somosas, and an interesting honey covered sweet dough ball (don't know what it's called, but very delicious). A good, filling meal for 8$!
The restaurant either doesn't have air conditioning, or it was broken on the particular day I went, so it was HOT in there. -

Chicken Tikka Masala and Palak Paneer are my two favorite Indian dishes, and both are very good at Bombay Bistro. The Tikka Masala had more herbs than I have ever experienced before. The extra herbs enhanced the flavor. I would give this dish a 4 star (when served at dinner).
We have been to BB for lunch a few times and this time we went for dinner. They do offer a dinner combo meal for two. You can expect the lunch buffet to be lunch buffet quality and not dinner quality. This is very typical and to be expected at all of the Indian restaurants I have frequented.
We didn't like the extra charge for Garlic Naan. Being that I have eaten at several Indian restaurants from Los Angeles to South Orange County. I have been to the following: Diamond Palace, Peacock Garden, Natraj, and Shehnai Cuisine of India. I need to head out to Cerritos, CA -

I loved the lunch buffet - had a great variety of vegetarian options.
The garlic naan was so delicious (hot and fluffy), especially with spinach paneer spread on top of it. I also tried the veggie rice with curry, the tandoori chicken (which was perfectly spiced and grill), and the chicken tikka masala.
We had no problems with the service considering we were the only ones there on a weekday lunch hr.
