I don't want to stereotype but from my experience, many Asian females do not have long, luscious eyelashes. I happen to be one of them. My lashes are short and stubby and I've bought tubes and tubes of mascara to try to give off the illusion that they are anything but. However, mascara can get messy and gloppy and I'm always looking for alternate methods to make my lashes look longer. Now I know there's been news about eyelash implants but I don't think I'm willing to go to such drastic measures so I looked to the next best thing. Eyelash extensions.

My sister gets them done regularly but I'm a major cheap-o when it comes to such things so I've held out on the $175/session esthetician she goes to. But when I saw a coupon advertising an $80 eyelash extension service at Body Rite, I just had to check it out.

Leeanne is the owner of the salon and she is very friendly. I made an appointment over the phone and went to go see her the very next day. She put me at ease, asking me if there was anything I wanted and the explaining the process and how long it was going to take. I figured it wouldn't take too long but it ended up being a little over 2 hours which I'm sure was exhausting on her part and was on mine too although I wasn't doing anything besides lying down with my eyes closed.

I was so shocked when I saw my new lashes because they were so long. I looked like one of those dolls with the plastic faces that have eyes that close and a long fringe of lashes (more like a bang really) on them. But they looked nice and even though it took awhile getting used to, I ended up really liking the way it looked. I didn't have to do much besides comb through them in the morning and the lashes were so dark that I didn't even have to put on any eyeliner. People noticed immediately and complimented me on them a lot. The first person I saw after getting them done was a cashier at Nordstrom's and the first thing she said to me was 'Do you have eyelash extensions? Cuz if you do, can you give me the number of the person who did them?' To be honest, I don't know if what she said was really a compliment or not but I gave her the number any way.

The lashes last about 3-4 weeks and they do eventually start falling out one by one. You're supposed to go in regularly to get fills which I think is $20 each time but because I was in New Jersey by the time they started coming out, I ended up yanking them out in one go about 3 weeks later.

Body Rite is a good deal if you're looking to try out lash extensions without breaking the bank.
