Does your biggest fantasy [or nightmare] involve a petite, yet strong, HOT Austrian woman manipulating your body to relieve tension and pain?
If so, Josie Wittner is that woman you've been dreaming of.
I met this iron woman playing volleyball. She is not only the best Chiropractor I've ever been to, she's experienced in the ways of sports injuries and chronic pain, related to pushing one's self to the edge (which is absolutely NO ONE in the Bay Area....)! She KNOWS where you're coming from and she can relate and relieve.
Will it hurt? Maybe. It's worth every second though, I always feel so energized and balanced after a sesh. You Will Not Be Disappointed.
Me before Josie = :|
Me after Josie = : D

Thank you Geoffrey!
I am a former national champion athlete and was a professional trainer for 13 years. As such, i never thought i would need or want to hire a trainer.
Then cancer and a massive loss of lung capacity and 20 pounds and, frankly, a loss of that desire to ever be hot again (i thought). But i was turning 40 and I wanted to see, maybe, if the hope of hotness at 40 existed.
And then came Geoffrey. He is extremelly knowledgable and a fantastically skilled technical trainer. But more importantly, he has that X factor; that instinct that knows how to push you just a little harder than you thought you could go. And its working! And who knows, maybe "hot" is still within my reach.
Geoffrey now trains my GF and i together. She is an olympic athlete and I am a cancer survivor with chemo-lung-damage (think workout mix-match to the extreme)and yet he still can train us together, giving us each the perfect workout.
Thank you Geoffrey! I don't believe in giving 5 stars. Until you.
ALEX NAVARRO is just flat out amazing! Alex is a trainer who works out of BMech Moss St, and although i was definitely impressed with the cleanliness and well-equipped nature of the facility itself, even the best business site is nothing but a dump without quality people... I met many trainers who work out of there in passing, and they were all casual, cool and friendly, but i cannot say enough how impressed i was with Alex. She has a great wit and personality, she pays attention to the details of your workouts, and she is always mindful of her clients' health without underestimating what they can do. She does not forget flexibility or grace either: you will not find yourself looking like a steroid case and moving like Frankenstein's monster.
I retained Alex to act as a personal trainer for my son who, up until the training, was a dedicated video gaming, disney channel couch potato. For anyone reading this who does NOT have kids, let me tell you: there are plenty of schoolteachers out there who refuse to work with middle school aged students (my son is 12), primarily because they are rumored to be truculent, moody, sarcastic, whiny... something to do with the gateway to teenagerhood and hormones, i guess... anyway, my boy is all that and a bag of Kettle Chips. In the beginning, he moaned and dragged his feet every time we left for a session; at the end of their time, he begged me to buy more time.
In addition to her personal coolness, Alex is a certified trainer, spent years as a gymnast, and has won tons of competitions, including the Ms. Fitness, Sports Model and Bikini Diva. In spite of all that, she does not have that fitter-than-thou attitude, and really makes you feel comfortable, even good, while you're slavishly sweating away in the name of your own health.

I actually look forward to having my cupcake-loving self whipped into Buff-titude shape by BEN TUIA at BODY MECHANIX. Ben is an awesome trainer who makes workouts fun and extremely effective. Ben has helped me regain strength and heal after several accidents and surgery. He knows how to cheer me up and get me moving after I've been sitting on my rear all day at my office job, trying not to develop repetitive strain injury. I am always glad that I came in, and I go home feeling 300% better.
Ben will assess your workout moves, stretching, diet, hydration, sleep, and lifestyle habits as a whole. He is extremely patient and kind, but if you are being a weenie, he will push you and you'll be glad. You will feel motivated and supported throughout the process, and he's just as happy as you are when you meet a goal. Then you feel encouraged to set a new one and keep on!
This gym is clean, spacious and a comfortable place to work out. All of the trainers are friendly, cool people and so are the clients. Many of these trainers have been friends and colleagues for years - that's why they opened a gym together. They have also retained clients for years at a time, which speaks to the quality of their relationship building and training abilities.
I LOVE body mechanix. The space itself is great with plenty of light and art on the walls. There's also a park nearby just in case you enjoy your trainer humiliating you in public. (j/k) But really, all the trainers are friendly and the gym has a very private studio feel. No overcrowding or gawking strangers like at most chain gyms. Also there are fun outdoor activities to participate in which helps to carry all the hard work into physically challenging excursions. It's fun to see what you can actually do with all that new muscle you've been building up.
As for the trainers: I train with Alex and she's amazing. I started with her about two years ago (and have taken several long breaks, lol) and recommend her to all my friends. Unlike most trainers who just put you on their plans, she looks for what you need for overall fitness and wellbeing and suggests not only exercies but a lifestyle regime as well. She offers nutrition counseling and keeps track of goals with bf monitoring and measurements. She's also understanding and patient about all the whining but doesn't bullshit like a lot of those annoying blowhards. If another douche with veins throbbing from his neck tries to get me to buy some crazy supplement and a tub of whey protein I'm going to scream. Alex keeps it realistic and gets her clients to work within their own limitations; be they mental, physical, or time.
I can't say enough good things about her and this gym!

Ricky LaRocca, my trainer, is a nationally ranked strongman competitor whose diversity in knowledge of how to tailor a training program specifically for an individual brings him a broad scope of clients from business professionals to professional athletes. Your training is always a team effort, and Ricky is there to make sure you are using proper technique for the best and safest way to do an exercise. He is also a great motivator and holds you accountable for your fitness goals. I started out with a modest goal of just getting fit in general, and now I'm competing nationwide in the women's division of strongman. That possibility never occurred to me a year ago.

A great place full of even better people - it definitely has a community feel amongst both trainers and other clients. Everyone is really friendly and professional.
I train with Ricky Larocca 3x/week and am truly blessed to have found him. He has so much genuine concern for your success and well-being, always designing new programs for you so you never get bored or hit a plateau. And boy are they challenging! But his unending enthusiasm and encouragement pushes you to do and achieve more - I perform exercises I never knew existed and have achieved things I never thought possible. He can't come any more highly recommended!
Let me add to the list of people who really like this fitness co-op. Every trainer I've met here is enthusiastic, has his/her own style and is in great shape. I've been working with Jennifer Marshall for three weeks, five times a week, and she is awesome! She makes every workout different. She is an accomplished athlete who shares her enthusiasm and passion with everyone without making one feel like a laggard. This is the first time in my life I've actually looked forward to exercise. I work out at the Moss facility, but I've been the to the Brannan facility as well. Both places are clean and well equipped. I'd recommend Bodymechanix to anyone who wants to enhance their lives whether it's for training for a particular activity or just improving one's health.
Ya know why I heart BodyMechanix? Because it doesn't stink. The average 24 Hour Fitness smells like sweaty nuts and broken dreams, and I am just not down with that. BodyMechanix, however, is totally smell-neutral and ego-neutral as well. It just doesn't feel like a gym. Tons of smiling faces, space to stretch out, cool art on the walls, and not an ounce of attitude from any of the trainers or clients.
I've been seeing Jenny Marshall at the Moss Street studio for a few months now, and I'vde been incredibly pleased with my results. She has helped me to overcome some life altering chronic pain, and I've become happier and more fit in the process. We always have all of the equipment we need (kettel bells kick ass) and fresh air and light during our workouts. Overall, I don't think that my experience training here with Jen could've been better and I'm sure I'll be coming here for a long, long time.

Once upon a time, I was a 5'10" human marshmallow. Big, awkward, jiggly, and very, very white. I knew I had to work out more, but gyms scared me. I don't like crowds, I don't like getting really sweaty, and I certainly don't like getting really sweaty in large crowds. Plus, the idea of getting trained by some pre-pubescent nymph who was half my size really, REALLY didn't appeal to me. I didn't need the life coach, I didn't need a personal cheerleader. I needed someone to just help me get stronger and leaner.
Then I found Tomas.
I heart Tomas. He kicks my butt every session, but he's so nice and funny that I thank him and ask for more. He pushes me, but knows how to pace everything so that I don't realize he really pushed me until I'm in the car on the way home. I've gotten stronger, I've gotten leaner, and I'm doing things I never saw myself doing a year ago (hiking! rock climbing! gasp!)
I work with Tomas, but I've gotten to know the rest of the gang--you can't go wrong with any of them. They're amazing. They're serious about fitness. They won't sugarcoat anything for you; they help you, but more importantly, they help you help yourself--the best trainers in the world won't get you to lose weight if you don't make the effort. Don't toy with them. They're a genuinely great team, they know what they're doing, and you'll be in excellent hands.
To call Body Mechanix a "no-frills" operation isn't fair to them. Both spaces are relatively small, but they have lots of equipment, but more importantly, multiple ways to use that equipment so that you and your body never get bored; to borrow a kinky metaphor, it's not the size of the boat but the motion of the ocean. They have great equipment, but your sessions move beyond the machines so that you learn things you can do on your own. This way, you don't have any excuse not to work out.
In the nine months I've been coming here, I've changed locations from the 2nd St. locale to the new Moss St. complex, I've since moved to Berkeley, and I still make the trip here. I wouldn't go anywhere else. Body Mechanix is a damn fine gym, and you'd be an idiot not to love it.
I shopped around for a year before finding Christopher Wiley! I spent lots of money trying out different trainers and as picky as I am, I was never happy. I wanted someone in good shape, someone fun but at the same time able to put me in check, someone who could put up with my "I'm too tired" whining, someone who switches up the routines so I don't get bored, someone who could be a friend and someone who loves what they do. Yup that's all in Chris! Now that they just moved to a bigger facility I love the location even more. Place is nicer and parking is easy (that is, when the Giants are not playing in town). Also, it's a very cozy environment with all the trainers being very friendly and open. It's a great place for working out hard but having fun at the same time!
I trained with Chris for two years and was in the best shape of my life. Now I'm living in Sacramento and have fallen out of shape since I left SF and Chris' training. I communte once a week to San Francisco, because I know he's the only one that can get me back in shape.
I've had many other trainers, and no one compares to Chris. Not even close. He knows how hard you'll work -- and get you to work harder than that. He's your answer.
What can I say?! I LOVE Chris...who doesn't? Chris had been my trainer off and on for 6 years...yes....6 years. When I first met Chris I was completely out of shape in all aspects; mind, body and soul. But he helped me get right back on track. Not only did he push me hard to find that athletic self I once was in my younger years, but he also raised my spirits...inspiring me to do even more. Since then I have run 4 marathons and have many more ahead of me....
When I train with Chris, no doubt he produces results. My only problem is when I am NOT training with him. But every time I go back to get back on track...he helps me reach my goals.
Chris is not only just my trainer, but a great friend. Unfortunately, I had to move to the pithole of North Carolina (known as Fayetteville) and had to part from training with Chris. Right now, I have settled for another trainer who doesn't even compare to him. Chris is very knowledgeable and caters to each client's individual needs. He has an array of exercise regimes that keep each session fun and fresh. The trainer I have now, sticks to the same boring workout and doesn't even know how to incorporate boxing into the session!?!
Once I move out of this country-fast-food-everything-fried-including-mac-a nd-cheese environment where people think that McDonald's is a good place to have breakfast and Pig Pickin' parties are a normal thing, you can bet that Chris will have to clear his schedule for me, because he'll be the only trainer that will give me my money's worth.
I miss him and all the great trainers at Body Mechanix!
I HEART Matt at Body Mechanix! he is AWESOME!! he makes getting fit fun and interesting. Always changing up the torture er i mean workouts and keeping it from getting tedious. He takes into consideration your beginning fitness levels, your goals, and what you are really expecting to accomplish in the long term. i HATED going to the gym. so much that i avoided it for 2 years and still paid for my membership. then i started going to see Matt once a week, now i LOVE going to the gym and to the Body Mechanix facility. Everyone there is super supportive and cool, they don't make you feel like a fat girl on a treadmill! i LOVE them. i say check it out!

How much fun is working out with Chris Wiley? More fun than a workout should be. I met Chris on recommendation from a girlfriend who'd been working out with him since his days at 24 Hour Fitness. From the moment I walked through the door, Chris and the other trainers at Body Mechanix treated me like a member of the family. And a family it is.
I've worked out with 'nice' trainers in the past but no one has helped me achieve results the way Chris has. His positive attitude and enthusiastic demeanor have been motivating me for the last year.
In fact, people who have asked me who I train with have also become clients of his. What can I say? He produces results. If I could give him 6 stars, I would.
I love this place-- it is private and no-frills- and you get what you need: a hard, personalized workout with really good trainers. Basically, this is a co-op for trainers- who do 1:1 personalized training but not associated with any gym. So its perfect if you don't want to workout in a big gym environment and just want to focus on yourself and your workout. My trainer, Shehabeddin is awesome- he incorporates pilates, weight training, stretching, qui jong (chinese meditation), and various cardio drills into his workouts. All of the trainers are very fit and friendly, and the overall vibe of the place is very cool (don't expect people in cute outfits and makeup a la Sports Club LA). I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a good trainer and a solid workout.

My motivation and goal is to help people find within themselves their goals and aspirations. I want them to discover what motivates them to achieve everything they set their minds on. Fitness is part of one's mind, body AND soul. Helping my clients helps me become a personal trainer like no one has ever had before. Fitness is a way of life; fitness is a healthy way of life. Anyone can achieve his or her weight loss and fitness goals with motivation, guidance and proper training

I recently had a chance to tour this facility and meet a number of the trainers here. Several things really impressed me. Firstly, the place has all the needed equipment to engage to dynamic physical training (great cable equipment, a vertimax, heavy med balls, etc.). Secondly, and more importantly, the staff I met are knowledgeable and professional. The place may not have frills, but given that the average trainer at the average gym does as much harm as good, I feel confident about sending people to Body Mechanix for personal training. They have a real ethic about what they do and how they do it.

I have been working out at Body Mechanix for over a year. All the people who work and workout there are really nice. I train with Matt twice a week. He is always in a great mood, and keeps the workouts fun. He checks up on me when I am not in to see how my diet, workouts, ect are going. I highly reccommend this place to anyone who is in the market for a trainer. The place is never over busy, and your workout is never interrupted by waiting for a piece of equipment. Their prices are reasonable, compared to other places I have trained. Check out their website and give them a call.
i'll echo what everyone else has said: this place rocks. i workout just about everyday, have done so for the last 9 years; while i'm in pretty good shape already, i know i could be better. so when i walked by bodymechanix, i stopped in to find out about training. right away, chris walked over and said, "hi"- he used to work at my old gym. i met with him a couple of days later to discuss goals, current level of fitness, etc. and I'm very happy that i did- i was sore for the next two days! this is wonderful because i haven't been sore in years, meaning i haven't been pushing myself as hard as i should be. so chris is my new trainer and he's going to help me reach my goal of 8% bf by feb. a solid 5 stars!

Jen Marshall is one of the best trainers in San Francisco. I have known Jen for over six years and we have done many projects together in the theatre and dance world. Normally I recommend that people DO NOT use a Personal Trainer, because the quality of typical PT's is so uniformly bad. This puts me in a Catch-22 because I'M A TRAINER! Jen is one of the very few trainers I can recommend without reservation. She is a superb athlete in all aspects, a great dancer, and really fun to be with. Jen has a very positive and optimistic bearing, well tempered with honesty and realism. She also has an incredible sense of humor and we spend a lot of time cracking up when we are working together. I think some of her clients have been with her for eight or nine years and I understand why. Jen also is constantly and vigorously improving her craft. She is always studying and taking courses in sports science. We have spent a lot of time brainstorming together and catching each other up on new training concepts. Some years ago Jen introduced me to the teachings of Paul Chek, for which I am very thankful. As for the rest of Body Mechanix, I have only just met them. Mallory and Tomas are very smart guys, the other trainers seem friendly and upbeat. Both facilities are very clean, well laid out and fully equipped. The presence of chains, powerbands and plenty of kettlebells especially impressed me. One thing the facilities have, which is often lacking, is lots of open space. Mallory told me that these are "gyms, not health clubs" and that is true, there is nothing foofy about them. They are also not dungeonlike at all, they have high ceilings and they are well lighted. They are good places to get things done.

I have been training with Tomas Mimms for about a year -- 9 months of which I have been pregnant and now I am 2 months post-pardum. Tomas pushed me through challenging but appropriate workouts during my entire pregnancy. As a result, I gained 25 pounds - the perfect amount for my frame - and felt great and strong the entire time. Throughout my pregnancy I got compliments on how fit I looked. Now that I am able to work out again after the doctor-enforced 6 week rest period, I am confident that Tomas is going to help me to get into great shape. Tomas is an amazing trainer - knowledgeable and patient, he knows how to get the most out of you. He's also an incredibly nice guy, it's a pleasure to work out with him.
I love BodyMechanix because it is not crowded at all. There is room to get the most out of your workout. It is fantastic! I have been working out with Alex Navarro for over a year now since she worked at 24 Hour Fitness (I followed her to BodyMechanix). If you want one-on-one intense workout with the emphasis on core training. She is the one that you want to go to! BodyMechanix's staff is warm and friendly. The place is clean with a wide variety of equipment to suit everyone's needs.
