I love love LOVE this place. Wine bars are my new fave. Sitting on a cozy sofa in a dimly lit, ornately decorated, cavernous room with close and even closer friends makes you feel so fancy and sophisticated, no matter what your conversation is about, and trust me, our conversations are far from classy. I came here with a few friends and an out-of-towner college friend for a bottle of red and some flights and just shot the shit for several hours.

We spent the earlier half of the evening stalking out a corner with couches that was currently occupied by a selfish older couple. Um hello, there are 6 of us and we would all like to sit together kthx. The people who worked there were very emphatic to our request and offered to report back to us once the couple vacated the area.

Our sommelier was very helpful while entertaining, not at all condescending about the lack of knowledge that some of us exhibited. She had some really great suggestions for the people in our group that ordered flights, and suggested a good zinfandel-cab-syrah blend for the rest of us to share. She came by to check on us without being overbearing, and was very receptive to all of our questions.

The dark spot of our evening (literally!) was when our candles kept burning out. Boooo. Please refill your votive holders with some fresh candles.

Because we came here towards the end of the night, I feel like I still haven't gotten my Bodega fix. I need to come back! I need the warm feeling of wine within me, good conversation, being surrounded by friends in the dim candlelight.  Luckily it's super close walking distance to my friend's apartment so I look forward to sampling more wines and stumbling back to her place!

I read the reviews of Bodega before adding it to our "wine bars to try" list and thought it sounded fantastic...maybe I missed something when we went last Friday but it just didn't do anything for me.  Yes it has a cellar atmostphere but even with the dim lighting it just looked fake.  The wines by the glass seemed limited (only one dessert wine?  no ports?)  and the dessert we were craving at this point of the evening was not fulfilled with the fresh-from-Kroger chocolate cake that was brought out (still cold, I hate that, OK if you refrigerate your desserts but please warm them up prior to delivery!).

It was 1130 on a friday night and the only 10 people in the place didn't seem interested in anyone but themselves.  So, no good interaction to add an extra star.  Sigh.  However, I like the idea of Bodega Bar, so I will try it again!

The Bodega Bar (BB) is a great place to spend some time with friends over a bottle of wine where you can catch up. For me it's a top notch alternative to the loud bars around Dallas where you'll spend your time getting cheap beer and blurry phone numbers. The bar is part of what used to be Chateau Wine (now closed).
It is a dark room that is made to look like a cellar with waterfalls and private semi-enclosed rooms to watch as people pass. BB usually has a impressive staff, and wine list to boot. Make sure to stop by for some great memories.
I'll give BB 3 stars because I would like them to get rid of their loud music; I come here to get away from having to scream at the people standing right next to me. I would also like a few small options for cheese/or fruits. They had this at one point but seem to have done away with it. This I a great option for anyone in the area to walk to so they can have a pre/post dinner drink. Lastly I would like to see more recommendations from the servers. They should always have a new wine, and a bit of history to go with the wine ready to go. All in all this one of the spots I never miss in Dallas; make sure you don't.

At least this wine bar was open, unlike the one around the corner from this place...  seriously is Primos the only hopping place to go on Tue-nite in Uptown?  The wine list was so limited... that I wanted to walk out, but it would have been so noticeable since we were the main customers in there... beside two other people... that the bartender apparently knew.  There was no music to drown out the loud obnoxious patrons at the other end of the tiny bar.  The only saving grace was the woman behind the bar pouring the flight of wine that we ordered, was friendly.

I thought it appropriate to make my first Yelp review my favorite place in Dallas.

As a wine lover, that is Bodega's main draw, but without the amazing atmosphere and variety of wines at a range of prices I would prefer to sit at home and drink the wine of my choice..

Being able to select a wine from the Chateau Wine Market and take it into the bar is what really gets me.. not to mention that the owner, Ameir, is extraordinarily knowledgeable and passionate about wine.
Tell him what you like as far as flavor and price, and he will give you a suggestion you will love!

He just opened a great restaurant upstairs so lately he spends slightly less time in the Wine Market, but the rest of the staff is equally pleasant. In fact, many of them have worked there or for the family for an insane amount of time. To me that spells good people!!

Besides the wine and staff, another thing that makes Bodega so great is the awesome atmosphere.. It feels like a dark castle sort of.. its not "too dark" however.. there is not a thing I would change about the seating, lighting or decor.. very cozy couches to curl up in.

All of it equates to a rather luxurious feel, without being forced to spend a ton, as wines start as low as $20ish/ bottle.

If you get on the email list, you will get access to the numerous wine tasting events that Ameir has.. I've been to one and although it was not my proudest moment in regard to NOT blacking out, it was rather enjoyable. I would make the suggestion, however, that you do not go on an empty stomach, as it may result in the owner and staff seeing you in a rather embarrassing state..

As for me, they are really cool there.. and after a couple weeks of dodging the place.. it was like it never happened. As I said.. good people.

Another point of pleasure for me is knowing that shady people are not the norm in terms of patrons.. Going out in Dallas, you can expect to run into lots of people that you'd rather shy away from, but at Bodega its more of a laid back, yet slightly higher quality crowd.

I get the vibe that most people there are coming to enjoy wine, friends, and perhaps one of their amazing cheese platters (as opposed to trying to look cool, get obliterated, and find someone to hook up with).

So if you are looking for a fun place to hang with friends without having to deal with overcrowding, poor service, or lack of wine selection Bodega is amazing!

Ambiance. Wine selection. Swank. Pretension. Comfort. Dark. Textures. Wood. Character.

Like so many imbibers before me on this review board, I can't speak highly enough of this place--it's just... *cool* without being overdone.

The wine shop in the front has one of the best selections in the area, and the back is, well, the perfect place to relax, shmooz, hobnob, court, seduce, relate, talk--you name it.

Dash over and grab a great Malbec and maybe smoke a cigar in the back room.

If you are looking for a wine cellar feel in Dallas that doesn't require slipping the maitre d' $100, this is the place for you.  Originally the backroom of the Chateau Wine Market, this little wine bar has come into its own.  It has its own entrance now and keeps hours more in line with the night scene.

It has a dark, cellar feel and has several funky and discreet seating areas to escape to.  Bodega generally carries twenty or more wines available by the glass, and its connection to the adjacent wine market creates an opportunity for a much broader selection by the bottle.

The bar has an assortment of basic food including cheese plates and paninis for basic munching.  The owner also runs Ari's Wine Bistro above, so you can round out your experience with a full meal.

This location's best use, in my opinion, as a great spot to host a private party.

Walking through the Chateau Wine Market I heard the lull of sensuous rhythm and beats coming from the Bar in the back.  After buying the bottle up front the stale cigar smoke air and dark leathery couches along with a fireplace peaked my senses.  The music very appropriate for the atmosphere-not to loud so you can actually have a conversation.  The crowd seemed a bit uncomfortable in their own skin-trying to be something they were not day to day-but we're in Dallas.  The waitstaff was helpful and energetic but we didn't feel rushed or hurried as we had the best seat in the house on a Saturday night.  They also have rooms you can rent out and they offer tasting parties etc. Great atmosphere- maybe open a window to let some of the cigar smoke out?   I will definitely be back here!
