2 reviews for Boddy House
The 2007 Pasadena Showcase House of Design was held at the Historic Boddy House at Descanso Gardens. The estate was owned by E. Manchester Boddy. In 1938, the mansion was completed at approx. $140,000. This site was known for its Hollywood parties including Queen Julianna and her quests. This two story mansion has 22 rooms featuring a circular entrance foyer!! Two staircases lead to the upstairs wings. The master bedroom includes full length french doors that overlook the view of the San Gabriel Mountains.
So you might be thinking, what does the house look like now? The remodel is a perfect example of the Hollywood Regency Style architecture. The house now consists of: a red carpet foyer, a Hollywood glam powder room, a Hollywood royalty suite, a sculptural garden, Mr. Boddy's Botanical Study, Director's cut room, an solarium, a living room that showcases Neo classical moldings, a master bath, a dressing room, master bedroom with terrace, an upstairs family room, a young lady's room, a young man's room, an elegant dining room, a breakfast room, a commercial kitchen, and 4 gardens. This Hollywood Regency house is filled with fashion and glamor!
Note: This is a private home it was only opened for the 2007 Pasadena Showcase of Design event. You may have to research the Descanso gardens website for available tours.

Still 5 stars but if this is high on your list of priorities when visiting Descanso, call before you go to make sure the house is open. After my mom flew to LA from Boston to visit the gardens and the house, we got there and it was closed because of the rain. Waste of a huge trip!!
