I bought a wooden dining room table (has hidden leaves to expand it) http://www.boconcept.u... for my tiny dining area in my townhome. It is very solid and sturdy, with clean, crisp, simple timeless design. It's definitely a step up from it's Scandinavian brethren in quality and price, but not as expensive as other high-end furniture companies and comes pre-assembled. The salesperson was stylishly dressed and very helpful in the selection that met my needs, as well as, titillated my wife (I gave away the IKEA table it replaced to a friend). I attended one of their parties they had there that was sponsored by a vodka company with a fashion show. They also rent the place out for company parties.
They have a computer system that will custom design the furniture with your choice of fabric, etc... and show you how it'll look in your home. Pretty slick! Since the furniture was good enough for Batman - The Dark Knight movie (bedroom), it's good enough for me.
I'm unsure whether to review BoConcept the furniture store or BoConcept the party venue... so I opted for both. They're both sorta around 4 stars, but quirky in different ways.
First, the furniture. It's *totally* my style, so I have to say I loved looking around at everything. I am in the market for a new couch, and there was one that I really liked. If only it was more in my price range I might consider buying it.
I can maybe justify the prices on the furniture, but on all the random odds and ends it just seemed like too much. They had placemats that bent to cover the arm rests on the couches. The wooden ones were $100+, and the metal ones were $200+. Despite how cool they looked, I just couldn't justify the price.
As a venue, I have to say this place surprised me. I was thinking it might be weird - seriously? We're all going to hang out in a furniture store? - But it was a chill environment and remarkably conducive to both large group conversations and one on one conversations. You could also wander really easily from one section to another, do a bit of shopping while you chatted. It was cool.
I don't think it was really set up well for a party though. There's a bunch of furniture around, so you want to sit and put your drink on the table. But you could tell that it was sort of off limits (who wants to buy used furniture at BoConcept prices, after all?). It would have been cool to see some party-oriented furniture - standing tables, perhaps, that were meant for putting your drink down, or more places to throw out the random garnishes from the drinks.
All in all, I had a great time at the party, and took a catalog home to peruse. But... will I buy? Yet to be determined.
Bo Concept has furniture that looks very cool in a Scandinavian sort of way. Their sales staff is great, and makes for a pleasant, pressure-free shopping experience.
So why am I only giving them three stars our of five? Because:
1. Some of their furniture is easy to confuse with IKEA, even though they're much higher quality and more expensive. So be careful what you pick.
2. More importantly: Bo Concept seems incapable of correctly placing and delivering an order.
I placed two orders, which were both screwed up in various ways. Bo Concept made the first one right, and have promised to right the second one promptly. But I have a real job to do; I can't worry about someone else's ability to do their job and order and deliver the furniture I asked for.
If you have patience and can afford the time for Bo Concept to correct their mistakes, then you'll find great furniture here. The sales staff will make your buying experience very pleasant; but that won't guarantee that your furniture will arrive on time, or as ordered.
UPDATE: I'm adding one star to my rating. BoConcept rectified the snafus as promised. Now that I've been living with the furniture for a few weeks, it looks beautiful indeed. I especially love the Volani caibnets.
So I went to check out the new BO Concept store the other day and I was impressed by the level of quality of their stuff for the price. BoConcept is a Danish company that offers interesting range of modern furniture with a reasonable level of customization options. Their furniture is made in Europe so you won't feel guilty supporting certain evil countries. They offer a free design consultation too.
i took delivery a sectional sofa i ordered from boconcept few months ago. I am overall satisfied with my purchase (we also bought a lounge chair for another room), but I was surprised when the sofa I paid thousands of dollars for had to be "assemble". What really didn't sit well with me (and prompt me to write this review) was when I found out from a friend who use to work for a furniture store (Hip) in Portland that my sofa was NOT made in Denmark like I was told. I was "casually" informed by the sales staff on numerous occassions that the products are made in Denmark, INCLUDING my sofa. The sofa turned out was made in China, like all of their sofas (proves to me that the sales staff couldn't have been "confused"). Why mislead your customers on such trivial facts? I wouldnt have cared even if it was not made in Denmark but it is simply WRONG to lead people to believe one thing about something when it is not true. I also bought a dining room table from Kasala + dining chairs and the table is from Italy and the chairs are from China as indicated by the sales person. As long as I like it and the price is fair I dont see a problem and appreciate the honesty. My friend then told me that it is fairly normal for stores to lie about where things are made, especially furniture. Buyers beware!
