What a great lunch deal currently going on... soup or salad, choice of pasta and entree, and a small cannoli w/melon - for $10.
I had the creamy asparagus soup, mushroom ravioli, chicken parm with a bright tasting tomato sauce, crusty bread. It was all rich tasting, properly prepared, appropriately sized... a great lunch. (Yes, I can nitpick the cannoli for the thickness of the shell, but I am not -- or did I just do that?).
BYOB too !
I LOVE this restaurant. My favorite dish is the Veal Saltimbocca. I had it for the first time here, and I am now OBSESSED. I've tried to get it at 3 different restaurants and it does not even come close to the perfection that is Bocelli's Veal Saltimbocca! The salad with buffalo mozzarella is also amazing. My friends got a crab ravioli - also amazing. The atmosphere is very romantic as well. It is a small space but beautifully decorated. Make reservations.
I hate tomato sauce and parmesan, and it takes a lot to get me to eat pasta, so it's a rare Italian place that has me singing its praises. Bocelli has a lot going for it though: normal portions, delicious bread, a variety of different types of flavors, with plenty of pine nut, garlic, cream, white wine, and other non-tomato options. Table cloths and a BYOB license mean you can feel like you're in a proper restaurant, although the carpet takes away from that. But most of all you can bask in the authentic touch provided by the '2' in the name of the restaurant--no trendy marketing slogans here. This isn't the digestive byproduct of the sheeshy-restaurant-developement-machine, but rather the humble sequel to a family (I suppose) restaurant with taste that's pretty good, but not too good.
