15 reviews for Boca Raton Resort, The Waldorf Astoria Collection
i visited the boca hotel eons ago when visiting my grandparents and had to return on my last visit -- there was no way that i was going to return to VA without setting foot on a beach.
we enjoyed lunch here before settling down by the pool and then later the private beach. (my grandfather is a member)
our server was okay. i ordered the falafel. i know what youre thinking, but it was a friday during lent. the falafel was okay, i have definitely had better. my grandmother raved about her burger with bleu cheese crumbles and my grandfather really enjoyed his shrimp. i also had a caipirinha which was so refreshing.
there was always someone around to take an order, regardless if you were sitting by one of the THREE pools or lounging on the beach. beautiful hotel, beautiful area. the renovations were gorgeous, huge change since i had been here last!
id love to stay here sometime but the drive to my g-units is less than 15 minutes and they would probably freak.

When I think of the Waldorf Astoria brand I think of glamour, opulence, Park Avenue, old money and Star Jones' ridiculously extravagant wedding to that Al Reynolds character. I do not think of rooms in desperate need of remodeling and practically nonexistent housekeeping services, which were two of the more blatant offenses I noticed while staying at the Waldorf Astoria's Boca Raton Resort. The biggest offenders of all however, were the automatic 18% gratuity charges on everything from coffee to beers at the pool to ice cream cones, in addition to the twenty plus dollars of "resort fees" that are tacked onto the bill for each night's stay. It's a good thing this trip was work-related, or I probably would have been pretty annoyed with the mark-ups to level of service ratio. However, the resort must be hurting in a big way as they are currently offering rooms for $99/night, which would help balance out the other fees and make a personal trip worthwhile.
My room was nice, with a beautiful view and VERY comfy beds, but the bathroom was pretty beat. Old wallpaper, standard tub and one of those water-saver toilets that resembles the kind you would see on boats or in campers. We had to ask for shampoo and soaps when we arrived, because all of the usual toiletries were missing upon our check-in. At 4:30 on my second day, the room still had not been visited by housekeeping and I had to call to request that someone come up. This is unheard of in regular hotels let alone a place bearing the Waldorf name.
Luckily, everything else about the hotel was pretty spot on. All common areas were gorgeous and well-kept. The pool attendants were very helpful and checked on us several times to see if we needed anything. On my final afternoon, we took the shuttle to the beach club side of the resort. I have to admit, I felt a little remorse at having opted to stay at the tower, because of its proximity to the conference I was attending. The beach club was shiny and new and fabulous! The women's locker room was spotless and included everything you could possibly need after spending the day at the beach or lounging by one of the pools. If I did go back, it would certainly be to stay at the beach club. However, I would still hop on the shuttle back to home base in order to take advantage of the crazy-great happy hour specials, which are only offered at a few of the restaurants on the non-beach side. Please tell Patrick at the pool bar that I said hello!

We got a great travelzoo deal to stay here for a wedding. Our room was in the Bungalows which are great accomodations. They have shuttles to get you to the beach club, which is about a 5 min drive away. The staff is friendly and attentive. As expected, meals were expensive but they have happy hour everyday at the Cielo which was fantastic. Great drinks for half the price. I'd love to come back here but probably not until the next Travelzoo deal.

I do love this place! Visited earlier in the year for a week-end and just got married here. (Will be happy to give anyone further information about having a wedding here, etc.)
The golf course is great, the spa is great... everything is pretty much great, but surely is costly. I stayed in the Cloister the first time then the Tower, no complaints. I do not understand how people complain about bad service as I notice they will do just about anything for you at the resort - - really, you just need to ask. As far as the $20 resort fee, this is the tip for asking them to do stuff as well as the added gratuity. You do not have to tip here at all - it is included in your bill .
I would though tip the fellas who help with the golf bags - they will bring your clubs to the room, the course, your car, wash them, etc... Also, you should eat at the Tower Restaurant, Cielo or go there for happy hour.
Great resort, so pretty and fun etc... you will return.

The hotel was ok. Most areas were nice. Staff was generally attentive. Trying to contact the resort prior to our stay was a nightmare - 4 unanswered emails and 1 unanswered voice mail followed up by a call the day before our reservation letting us know that the Beach Club wouldn't be ready.
Average age of hotel patron was probably about 75. Automatic additional 18% service charge on every single charge is annoying.
All in all - it was a nice stay - however minor tweaks and it could be fantastic for the senior set.
Might go back - most likely won't.

We stayed here complimentary of my father's boss during his company's Top Realtor's Retreat about 4 years ago. The place is absolutely gorgeous and the concierge was very professional. We were given a Yacht Club room, but once we saw it, we were horrified. There was only one bed (there were 4 of us) in a tiny, tiny cramped up ancient room. We told the bellboy that this room was unfit and would like another room that would accommodate 4 people.
We were brought back down to the lobby and were very quickly upgraded and transferred to a Boca Bungalow Suite. We stayed here right when they were starting their renovation, so it wasn't as nice as it looks now (go check out the website, http://www.bocaresort....). Even though it doesn't look as good as the newly renovated rooms now, it was still very large and comfortable.
If I'm ever back in Boca Raton, I would definitely stay here again!

This place is expensive, but definitely the service is awesome. The hotel grounds are vast with lots of amenities, such as it's own PRIVATE BEACH just a 3 minute shuttle ride away!!! It's located right along the waterway, and you can go on a complimentary ride down the waterway to see the gorgeous vacation homes that are along it.
It has multiple dining areas and the food is DELICIOUS. Wake up for some breakfast at Bar Luna and sit in a beautiful palm tree studded indoor courtyard with the morning sun beaming in through the glass ceiling.
The room is so nice and they bellman comes and sets up your luggage and shows you all the amenties of the room. They bring you key lime cookies and italian mineral water everyday as well as the day's paper. The beds are SOOO comfy with its soft pillows and just the right hardness bed. It also comes with a REAL comforter lined with a sheet instead of those nasty and dirty coverlets that some hotels give you!
The hotel grounds are absolutely beautiful and it's accented with a great hospitality staff who are basically at your beck and call. It has palms trees galore and it's pink buildings actually adds to it's tropical and elegant look.
But to top it off, the best part is their PRIVATE BEACH, complete with wait staff and towel service and chairs. It also has a bar and a food stand so you can order food. You know how when you watch movies about MIA and they're on this NICE beach and the waiter comes around and brings you your drink to sip on and relax??? This place has that! I felt like I was in a movie. :) Not only that, the waves were perfect and totally complemented the warm, but not too hot, weather.
As you can tell by the length of this post, this place as a lot of awesome features to enjoy and talk about afterwards when you go home!

It's a beautiful resort, but it is expensive and the beach is very inconvenient if you are staying in the main hotel. We're staying in the tower for a business conference and it takes me 20 minutes to get to the beach club. I have to leave my room, walk across the resort to the shuttle stop, jump on the shuttle, ride around the resort (to pick up people at the villas, etc) then ride over to the beach. It takes me 20 minutes every time. It's really a hassle. Since we're here with a conference our company is paying for the room, but I would not come back on my own dime. The food is really expensive: a salad is $21+, drinks are $15 each, and everything is good, but not great and not worth what they charge.
Talk about surreal.
The second I arrived I glanced to the right and my jaw dropped wide opened as THE SON of Martin Luther King looked in my direction. Tons of movers and shakers strolling about but holy almighty, I never ever expected to see that kind of lineage anywhere in my lifetime.
Now, don't get me wrong, this young lady can hold her own amongst most but all I can say is that these are the type of 'Fly Under the Radar' kind of spots that have me dreaming of temporarily leaving SF for a while.
The architecture was divine, the staff are the kind of soulful people that you feel a special kinship with, and the amenities were spectacular. I nearly tried everything that this place had to offer and my only regret was not having enough time to fit in the morning game of croquet in between all of the gallivanting that the trip entailed.

This is another downward spiral getting worse by the day. After the Blackstone group ruined the old Florida reception area for the new bland boring sheet rock look. It had charm and great places to dine. The places we oll loved had all been closed and either re opened under a new trendy name or done away with completely. This is another Blackstone horror. They did the same to the Rihga Royal in NYC and turned it into the smaller roomed London NYC Hotel. I am still a member of that place but wonder every year why I just do not drop it. It must be because of that $50,000 membership fee I paid in 2000.
Ok to stay in the Marina rooms but most rooms are outdated and musty. There is a Ritz and Four season's about 15 miles north I recommend one of those.
This place definitely deserves 4+ stars if you were their typical patron which I am not. The place is located right off the intercoastal in Boca Raton and there is the beach club which is right off the ocean. I had a room in the yacht club on the intercoastal side and had a magnificant view of the intracoastal.
The Yacht club suite: 5/5 stars! It was the nicest room I have ever stayed in. 1.5 bath, 1 bedroom, kitchen w/o microwave, 2 tvs, dining area, living room area, seperate shower and bath. I cannot say anything bad about the room at all. It was just perfect!
Hospitality/Service: Most of the staff was friendly except those who looked at me wondering if I was lost or out to cause trouble. The typical patron is white 40+ years old in a polo shirt or suit while I was in work out clothes, swimming trunks, tattooed, bald etc. I was asked multiple times to verify my stay at the resort, my last name, if I was part of the event etc. I guess it comes with the rough exterior look.
Patrons: Typical rich old money from east coast. I stuck out like a sore thumb. Eyes were constantly on me wondering if I was lost or here to cause trouble. What ever, I brushed it off but of course it does bother a bit that people still prejudge someone by their appearance/physical features.
Fitness facility: At this place the hospitality was definitely nice. The young lady provided great information on jogging routes and other activities in the resort. There were tons of elliptical machines, threadmills etc. It was fairly packed at 6am in the morning. Weight room could use more equipment.
Food at conferences: Excellent! One night we had all you can eat stone crab legs, shrimp, roast beef, all you can drink. The service during the events were great but once again I was asked "are you in the right place?". I did not see anyone else asked this question. Another night we had all you can eat lobster tail, steak, KEY LIME PIE!, and other desserts. This event is not typical of your stay there unless it is part of a conference/reception you are attending. Ate at Cielo which I already reviwed earlier. I usually prefer Quality over Quantity but the quantity at this place was ridiculous. I had to eat 30 minutes afterwards.
The place is definitely the best looking resort I have stayed in. Shangri La in Makati, Philippines was on top prior to staying at Boca Resort. This place was immaculate and clean.
Overall my stay was 3/5. If I wasn't constantly questioned about my stay or looked as an outsider, the place would easily get 4.5 stars. I enjoyed it but there is definitely a class system or prejudgement at this place. Actually most of South Florida is that way.
Magnificent!
Absolutely gorgeous!
Now why can't I be here with Brad Pitt (ala "Ted Nugent called and he wants his suit back" in Oceans 11 .... Mmmmmmmm, give me a few minutes to dream.... OK I'm back) lounging on our private patio watching the Yachts dock from our spectacular Yacht Club room with AMAZING VIEW!!!???....
Waking up to reality, I WAS in a spectacular Yacht Club room with a view of the entire harbor and Yacht Club .... But alas, I was flying solo on a business trip. I guess I can't complain too much ... a business trip in Boca. Staying at the Boca Beach Resort & Club. Paid for. All paid for. Dining with a corporate card. All paid for. Being paid to tan on the beach. Yah, okay ... I am slowly getting over not waking up next to Sir Pitt .... SLOWLY.....
The property is amazing and the entire staff are unbelievably nice and accommodating. The only downside I might note is that the pool seemed quite small, and a bit out of date, for such a magnificent resort. Then again, if this bothers you, just head over to their private beach. We did!

I took a half a star off right away because this place is impossible to find. The google maps took me to their service entrance where the guy at the gate gave me the proper directions. The problem was, that there are absolutely NO SIGNS anywhere telling you where the entrance is. There is a gate outside the main entrance that says "Members only" so that kind of threw me off. Once we told them our names, they saw we were staying that night and let us through. I guess this exclusivity keeps the riff raff out. This place is full of contrasts. The front grounds are meticulously landscaped while the lobby looks like it could use a remodel. My room was also horribly out-dated and getting a warm shower with some water pressure was quite a challenge. On the other hand, the spa, conference rooms, and Beach Club were first rate. Be warned, however, you will need your AMEX black card if you plan on dining on the premises. Even the Sushi house cost nearly $200 for two people!
If I ever go back to this place, I'll make sure to make more than 3 laps at the pool. Ordering in gives you great choices, of course after being there for a week, you tend to know the menu by heart. Since I was there for a convention, I ate lots and lots. I had a problem with the smoke detector and they did'nt give me a hard time when I asked to be moved to another room when the place was fully booked! If you're a golfer or tennis player, you'll love this place. Me, I'm the type that's lazy and would rather float in the pool late at night and almost drown when I fall asleep in the water.
Heaven on Earth, what more can you ask for. The best Beach Club around, fantastic golf and some of the best restaurants. I call this place my home away from home. I have been coming here for 10 years and it has never disappointed me. I know it never will.
