Mmm mmm goooood!

Their mushroom hoagy is absolutely delicious!! It's so flavorful with mushrooms busting out of the bread! The steak wasn't dry at all, which was a surprise.  These sandwiches were very comparable to the ones in Philly! Of course it wasn't as oily, but don't get me wrong, these hoagy's had it's share of grease though :P

Not only the cleanest cheese steak you'll ever eat, but one of the tastiest.  Don't get me wrong, I love a nice greasy cheese steak that you can see through the wax paper, but this place matches the flavor with half the grease.

And the HOT sauce, can't forget the hot sauce!!  If there is a heaven, I assume the bar & grill will have a wall just like here....bottle after bottle of hot sauce.  From the tangy flavorful ones to the "i'm gonna regret this tomorrow" ones, there is a hot sauce for all.  Even if you don't want any hot sauce, take a look at the labels, they will crack you up.

Recommended: mushroom hoagy, philly cheese steak, terriyaki hoagy and FRIES.

PS.  This is a notorious cop hangout, and you know them boys in blue know the hot spots to grub at...just don't look them directly in the eye haha!

Burnt tasting chicken is why i gave it 4 instead of 5.

ill take a root beer, a large deluxe and fries. My favorite sauce is that one australian sauce with an 8 rating.

Overall, you go to the place for the food, not for an experience. its nice seeing a wall of different hot sauces and being able to try a select few.

the steak hoagys are just great. end of story. their chicken ones were a bit dry and had that bitter burnt taste to it. also my menu was sticking onto the table pretty badly.

Mushroom, Cheese, and Meat! what more can a guy ask for (outside of the bedroom)?

Sure this is not one of those fancy eatery that you get serve by someone call Jane who got a big fake smile on her face, or will you see more meat on the waitress than on your plate ;) But that's not what this place is about. This place is about food FOOD for your stomach, not a feast for your eyes.  So don't complaint about the ambience cause there's none except the smell of good food permeating through from the open kitchen.

This place serves one of the best cheese steak sandwich in the area. Make sure you try their Deluxe on your first visit. Bread is good, high quality cheese, and not too much meat. And you got to love the mushroom. All the ingredients are in a right proportion so no one is over powering the others. I can actually taste the fresh chopped bell pepper!

They got so many different types of BBQ and Hot sauce. Will take me a long time to try them all, and a whole lot of treadmill to burn them off too. lol

If you're not a meat guy, or girl, you can try their fish and chips. Personally I haven't try that yet but by the smell and look of it that will be my choice on the next visit. Will update on that.

Yeah, if you're in the neighborhood and is longing for some meat, or fish in this matter, come to Bod's and you'll walk out a happy person.

YUUUUUMMMY

This is one great Place to grab a cheese steak.  I was actually going to give this place a 5/5, but at this point it is more like a 4.5 / 5 (which my reviews are always flexible if I go again, which this place I will..it may go to 5

The Cheese Steaks are clean. Now although I LOVE the Cheese
Steak Shop..(Which I gave a 5/5 btw) The Cheese Steaks here are not smothered in Grease and Sauce.  I love the cheese steak shop, but wow....to experience a cheese steak without sauce dripping down my wrist to my elbow was a new experience.

The staff seems somewhat off and when my friend and I went it seemed like a one man show.. I mean... it seemed like it was a bit short staffed.  Perfectly understandable... but when we ordered it seemed like he did not hear us well or understood.  I am sure I was clear, and I am sure I was speaking proper grammar.  Its forgivable..

Never the less, if you go.. speak loud and speak clear.  I know it sounds intuitive...but trust me.. you'll have to.

I must say... I liked this place because they did have beer... lots of beer.  And to eat a Cheese Steak sandwich with a nice cold beer was sublime.

The pricing was way affordable and the selection of food was great...

BUT, what intrigued me the most is what someone else ordered as we were leaving..  After we paid ... I walked by a table and smelled the most irresistible smell ever....   Fresh Clean Fish n Chips.  After smelling that, I have no option to go back and try that.. they looked soooooooo good.

I would definitely recommend the Deluxe Cheese Steak... and If I had to re-do My order... Stay Way from the Small and Get the large sandwich.

The large is Literally TWICE as big as the small.. and for $0.70 cents more its a a no brainier.  Even if I could not finish the large... take home, Hello?  If I had known that I would have NEVER ordered the small....

Get the large at all costs...

All in all.. Great food.. Average service (not bad at all)  But I need to go again to truly give it a 5.

Fish n Chips, here I come.....Sounds strange.. I know... but if you smelled those Fish n Chips like I did on the way out.. you would know where Im coming from....  =P

Fortunately for me, I didn't have to meet the rude lady at the counter that many yelpers have mentioned in their reviews. We were instead greeted by a nice, young gentleman.

We wanted our order to go, so we ordered from the menu at the counter, but if you're dining in, find a seat and somebody will come over to take your order. We ordered a large deluxe which comes w/onions, green peppers, mushrooms, and tomato sauce and a large mushroom hoagy. We also ordered a side of curly fries.

The first thing I noticed after ordering was the collection of hot sauces on the wall. They all had unique names, which got me pretty excited to try some. Unfortunately, you can only try the 8 or so they already have out at the bar, but this was good enough for me. Saddam Insane caught my eye as well as an Australian hot sauce, chipotle garlic sauce, and a papaya hot sauce. All the sauces were numbered from 1-10, 10 being the spiciest.

After about a 10-12 minute wait, our order was ready. I was afraid our sandwiches were going to be soggy once we got home, but surprisingly they stayed hot and fresh. The meat was seasoned perfectly and did not taste dry at all. They gave a good amount of mushrooms and all other ingredients; in other words, they did not go cheap. Most importantly, the cheesesteaks were not greasy. Also, the hot sauces went well w/our cheesesteaks.

My sister's bf said it was pretty close to the ones he had in Philly so that goes to show you how good the cheesesteaks are here. In Philly, they also have it with the tomato sauce and so he suggest  you order/eat it WITH it b/c it's the difference maker in a good way.

Overall, great place for some cheesesteaks. We will definately be back frequently. Fyi, we came here on a Saturday right at 12 and did not run into a large lunch crowd. Good amount of seating.

This place is delightful. One of those hole in the wall places that you wouldn't know about until somebody tells you to try it. That's exactly how I found out about this place. I forget how long ago it was, but it's definitely a while.

I thought it was odd that this place was run by Asian folk. Very friendly people but damn do they know how to make a steak sandwich. The steak sandwiches are what you come here for, and I have yet to try anything else. There's a whole list of them with different variations of the same thing. They have shelves of hot sauces that you can try out and it's fun reading the different labels until your food comes. I'll just stick with Tabasco.

Recommendations: teryaki, pizza, mexicana hoagy steaks

Let me tell you of my horrid visit to the establishment we call Bob's Hoagy Steaks.

Scenario 1:
Man brings out a small mushroom hoagy & a large mushroom hoagy (w/ a side of regular fries).
Me: The small mushroom hoagy shold be with a side of curly fries and the large mushroom hoagy should be a small.
He brings it back to the kitchen.

Scenario 2 (deja vu):
Korean woman brings out the same thing: a small mushroom hoagy & a large mushroom hoagy (w/ a side of regular fries).
Me: The small mushroom hoagy should be with a side of fries and the large mushroom hoagy should be a small.
She grunts.

Scenario 3:
Korean woman brings out a side of curly fries.  Our party realizes that if you get a side of curly fries, then the small hoagy comes out on a plate by itself.  This wasn't communicated to us though, even during the two times that we commented.

Scenario 4 (deja vu again?):
Korean woman brings out the same thing again: a small mushroom hoagy & a large mushroom hoagy (w/ a side of regular fries).  This is the THIRD time that the exact same dishes come out.  I feel as if I'm trapped in the Twilight Zone.

We take the small mushroom hoagy AND the large one (even though it was suppose to be a small).  What's worse is that she even charged me for a large.  In addition to this mess up, my friend ordered a small teriyaki chicken hoagy and got a large.  They must really want to make money by charging people for larges.

AMBIANCE: Dirty. Horribly Insulated. There were gnats/fruit flies flying around our food.

FOOD: I had the mushroom hoagy.  The meat was dry.  The cheese was a Kraft American Single.  The steak fries were normal.  They have a variety of hot sauces you can use which aren't that spicy.  All the bottles they have (ketchup, cocktail sauce, tartar, hot sauce) are incredibly oily on the outside.

SERVICE: Aside from the above scenario, there's not much direction.  When we first walked in, we weren't sure if we were suppose to order then sit or sit then order.  After observing a nearby table did we realize that unless you're getting take out, you sit then order. But then to pay, you go up to the cashier.

Needless to say, I will never be coming back.

stop complainin, this place is not a fancy restaurant.
And you know what? this place has the best sandwinches ever !!!
I love delux, it's the best, and it's less than 10 bucks with fries and soda. My friends and i always go there once aweek, and it's the best !!.
The woman who's working there is kind of rude sometime. then you should go there on saturday. there are different workers on the weekend,
Last time I went to this place with 6 of my friends, and they're all kind of picky. they always order like "no onion, no tomatoes, side mayonaise and stuff" but this guy just came to our table and took the order. it was a hella complex order, but he didn't miss a thing although he didn't even write it down. I was really impressed.
will go there forever
good food, good service.

Came here today with Ty and Kyt.  Ty assured us that this place was good...AND IT WAS!

I had the small barbeque hoagy with provolone instead of american cheese and I was glad.  It was really yummy and the prices were super affordable too!  The place looks like it hasn't been updated in years but the service was good.  The waiter took our very specific orders and followed through with no problems.

Try this place at least once.  You might like it too!

A surprisingly good find for a hole in the wall establishment.  It was an awkward walk to our table with no one really greeting us or directing us, but the food menu was simple, but contained a large varieties of different foods.  My BF had their hoagy with American cheese, lettuce & tomatoes while I ordered their seafood combo consisting of one fish & chips, two scallops, shrimps & oysters each.  All were deep fried.  The fish was very crispy with a clean break and soft, moist white fish underneath.  The scallops were probably my favorite, fried barely while leaving the flesh inside warm but still tender.  The oysters I could probably pass on next time since it wasn't fresh and had this stale and rotten fishy smell oozing out of it.  Drinks are in a cooler and you can choose your own, including beer.  That just seems illogical to me, but overall the food was decent, probably best served as a lunch.

A good place to experience a well-built cheesesteak, if you can look past the dust collection it has accumulated over the years.

If I could make a cheesesteak like this, I could stop coming up with excuses to drive to Fremont. Even after years of coming here, it's still a mystery to me how they make the texture of their beef - it doesn't seem like it's ground beef, it looks like it's thinly-sliced and then cooked on a seasoned grill, giving it the flavor of a thousand cheesesteaks. Hi-res image here: http://www.flickr.com/...

The rolls they use are also notable in that they are lightly toasted or grilled, and don't become soggy.

If you're feeling brave, try something from their collection of hot sauces. If you're feeling masochistic, ask if they have any 'Ten Plus Plus' (10++ rated) sauce to sample. Sometimes they keep some in the fridge behind the counter.

It's busy during lunchtime on Thursdays and Fridays, and seems to have a following among Policemen and construction workers - probably a positive indication for any restaurant of its kind.

Grab your drink from the fridge and seat yourself. Someone will bring you a glass with ice and take your order.

Not a real cheese steak. The meat is wrong, but i do like the yellow American. The roll is wrong, but not bad. The peppers and not available
but the do have a Mexican cheese steak, with a Jalapeno and crushed red pepper flakes(pretty good choice). I love there steak fries done very well!! And since the have fish and chips available I am not surprised. This place also does nice teriyaki  plates, but I would not recomend the teriyaki
chicken sandwich, just doesn't hold up well.

Dude how can you compare this to the Cheesesteak Shop? This is SOO much better. The only thing I regret is I should have coughed up that extra quarter for some jalapenos before I left. The service here is a little off, the person who took my order seemed kind of... uhh bitter about life or something? It was my first time here so I just ordered the plain ol number 1 but I'm so down to try the other ones next time. I'm not too into the fries, I usually like my cheesesteaks with onion rings but you can't complain when all of it was just 6 bucks :)))!

All I can say is Terriyaki Steak Hoagie (w/ Fries)... yum yum!  This place is at the top of my list for hoagies.  Bob's offers Hoagies, Fish & Chips, Rice Entrees.  Fairly priced and the service is good.  Never had to wait unless I was doing take out.  To me it's one of the best kept secrets of Fremont.

The best cheese steak shop period. Then add two more periods. It's a toss up between this joint or the Cheese Steak Shop franchise. They both have their own unique flavors, condiments, and presentation. It's like saying, "who do you like more, your mom or pops? (assuming one didn't beat you and slap belts across your mouthpiece)" ...

So this is how it usually goes down ... Deluxe w/o sauce, curly fries, water with mad ice, and #8 hot sauce ... if you've been here you know their hot sauce selection is stupid. in a good way. I don't know what they put in the meat but its seasoned perfectly. Your taste buds will be peaking like a rave at Homebase circa 1996. The bread does wonders for this hungry man sandwich by keeping everything intact. They put so much meat in there alot of it will end up on your plate though so keep your fork handy. Or use your hands you filthy rat. Jokes. The curly fries are crispy and nicely seasoned. I just ate there today and overdosed on some Saddam Insane hot sauce ... there's going to be a nuclear catastrophe in my bathroom tomorrow.

Minus a star for the workers and sticky tables. Come for the food not the service. You won't be disappointed.  If you get it to go make sure you live hella close. Everyone knows there's nothing better than food fresh from the kitchen. Oh and don't drop your jaw when you see that an Asian family runs this joint. Indulge foodies.

The best cheese steak in Fremont! Been coming here for years. Its a small hole in the wall family run establishment that offers great service and excellent food. I always get the mushroom hoagey and they are never stingy on the serving size. Guaranteed to be full and content on your way out. One of Fremont's hidden secrets and a local favorite.

Went here one afternoon after reading on yelp about it. I had a steak and cheese hoagie and my sister had a chicken teryiaki hoagie. The steak and cheese was really good. We weren't that impressed with the chicken hoagie. When we go next time, we know to stick to the steak and cheese.

4 stars for the cheesesteak haogy my wife ordered.   Wayyyy better than the Cheesesteak shop franchise.    Nice soft roll, tender greasy meat and significantly melted American cheese (though cheese whiz would be the traditional Philly way).  The fries came out piping hot.

I can't believe people are bitching about the interior and service, sure they are basic, but come on, $6 for a large sammy.

I made the mistake of ordering a teriyaki chicken  hoagy.  The chicken tasted like char.   Anyway, I blame myself for that mistake as I was at a cheesesteak joint and my dumb ass ordered chicken.  I almost just left the chicken and ordered a cheesesteak, but my wife wouldn't have let me be that wasteful.

Highly recommended for the cheesesteaks!

The Pizza King is A.K.A. the Cheesesteak Fanatic.

Rather than drive all the way to Pleasanton to our favorite cheesesteak shop, we thought we'd check out Bob's Hoagy Steaks tonight.

As other Yelpers have mentioned, this is a family-owned operation.  Hence, the attention to detail like a thoughtful decor is perhaps last on their list.  Interestingly, there are a plethora of hot sauce bottles to view, but I wouldn't say it's the "theme" for the decor.  It's like an old Buttercup Pantry, green carpet, oak chairs with green tabletops.  OK, enough on that.  Lose one star.

The food is what is important, right?  Riiiight.  Ok then, so we ordered up two steak sandwiches, mine with the bell peppers, his meat and cheese only.  We also tried the fish n'chips, cuz, well, he was more  hungry than I.  The order was to go so we could get back home to watch the Giants and Diamondbacks game.

As we waited at an empty table in the middle of the room  (because there is no place to sit for "to go" folks), we were perplexed as the order taker then started serving some of the tables ahead of us....one...plate...at...a...time.  Literally.  Ok, maybe there were two plates a couple of times, but seriously, it was flow cooking (which hubby says is a terrible way to cook) at its best!  Lose two stars.

After 20 minutes we got our food. Got home and opened it up...everything was exactly as ordered. Good, one star for that.  We dove into our sandwiches and they were alright.  The steak could have been more finely chopped, onions were fine, and they do use American cheese, which I do like in this kind of sandwich.  But, it was missing something that our favorite place has:  hot and sweet peppers.  Man, that makes a huge difference.  We both felt it was a two star place.  Not great, not bad either---but call ahead and order it to go...no sense in eating somewhere with absolutely no ambiance.

4 stars for the cheese steak but 1 star for the service.  I used to go to this place quite a bit until once I called for to-go.  Because my # was a 408 area code, the lady double question my order as if it was a prank call.  I assured her that I've been there quite a few times and she told me that it would be ready in 15 min.  When I got there, the order has not been started even!  The ownder said a few words to her in Korean & went to make the food.  The lady who took my order didn't even apologize!  So I end up waiting another 30 min.

If you go there get the deluxe w/o the sauce.  its the best out of every thing there but I wouldn't go there again until some day when I really need a cheese steak!

With the following taken into consideration:
1. It's a family owned and operated business, working especially hard.
2. It's different. Its not a subway, its not a togos, and its not a quiznos.. this may be a one of a kind store on this planet.
3. They serve Hoagies and Fish and Chips.
4. at 4$ for small to 5$ for large... the price is waaay better than a $9 sandwich at quiznos

I had the deluxe Hoagy and one side order fish and chip. The fish was good and so was the sandwich.  The fact that they have a lot of customers means they have great turnover. Food will be fresh.

This place gets quite crowded during lunch hour. I see all of fremont county workers here, from the firemen, police and transportation.

The ambiance is so so.. There is a t.v. and a bar.

If you want something local, something different, something reasonable in Fremont, don't waste your time at togos, try here.

Where else can you combine great cheesesteaks, huge pieces of fish and chips, and some good ass teriyaki (plus a huge selection of hot sauce if you're into that type of thing) in one restaurant?

This unique place has cheap, delicious, and very tasty food.  Some people might complain about the decor but you're here to combine flavors in your mouth, not impress your date.

Get the deluxe cheesesteak, don't miss the fish n chips, and you'll come back in a week or two.

Perfect for:  People in the mood for the poor man's fusion food.  Asian, American, and British foods all in one.

I've been to Amatos in Saratoga, IBs in Berkeley and many others that are so called the "BEST".

To date, nothing beats the flavor and style of Bob's Hoagy. Most places are too soggy and others lack flavor.

This place doesn't have this problem.

The ambiance can a little upgrading, but hey I'm there for the food.

I've gotta object on semantic grounds.  Here are my points:

1.  The word is spelled "Hoagie", not "Hoagy".
(cf. http://www.answerbag.c...)
2.  There really is no such thing as a hoagie steak.  A sandwich can be a hoagie or it can be a cheese steak, but not both at the same time.

I haven't tried these sandwiches for the same reason that I can't watch the NBC version of The Office (know and love the original too much), but since the place is not a chain, I'll give them 4 stars.

Have been here MANY times, most always getting the Philly Cheesteak and fries.  One time tried chicken or a rice plate and didnt like it.  The cheese steaks are great though!  The meat is a good quality for a cheesteak (not fatty) and even though I thought it was weird that they used yellow/American Cheese it actually tastes even better than the white.  I like the fact that its a mom and pops style restaurant but cant say that the service is the best.  The staff rarely smiles and the woman running the show is often RUDE.  She is usually on the phone and ignoring you while she rings you up.  One time we walked in and the man owner was yelling at a worker fixing their air conditioner.  The woman is all about the money but I don't particularly think she cares how well you liked the place, the food or the service.  Then again it could be a cultural or language barrier.  They always bring the fries out before the cheese steak which I don't like (no one wants to eat fries alone or have them get cold while you wait on your cheese steak). They charge you extra if you want some small Jalapenos.  Despite all the above the pricing really cant be beat  here, and its probably my favorite place now for Cheesesteaks.  The hot sauce bottles are interesting and the names make you laugh.
My advice - Stick to the basics here (Philly Cheese Steak) and you cant go wrong.

They make some damn good hoagy steaks here!  There isn't anything frilly or fancy.  There isn't any decor or ambiance that will wow you.  It's just a great place to get your grease fix.  Or if you aren't into grease try their dungeness crab salad.  I heard they have great fish and chips there but I can never get myself to order anything but one of their specialty hoagies.

Everytime I eat lunch here, I need a siesta.  After eating all the carbs and grease, you can't help but take a nap.  But it's worth it.

I eat here pretty frequently.  The lady knows that I always order a their large hoagy with lettuce and tomato, french fries and a soda.  The hoagy has mayo, onions and thinly sliced and chopped beef.  American cheese is melted all over this juicy concoction.  The fries are steak fries.  They can be somewhat greasy, but that's expected when you boil carb sticks in oil for 10 minutes.  The really greasy and crispy ones are the ones that'll make you drowsy.

Ambiance...there is none.  It's a hole in the wall!  I wouldn't take a date here.  This is a place where you go to sneak some artery clogging cholesterol.  And it's a bargain!  For under $8, you can get a large sandwich, fries and a soda.

Definitely a no frills place. Different types of hoagies at cheap prices. The sandwiches are so big you gotta eat it on your plate w/ a fork before picking it up. Also got 2 pieces of fish on the side for $2.15 each. Crunchy and greasy, just the way I like it. Big portions of fish, it could be a meal in itself. Lots of different hot sauces to try/buy with references to butts and nuclear weapons. Seems like a popular place to call in your order. The phone was ringing constantly last time I went.

Pretty good food for a reasonable price. I tried the Philly Cheese Steak Hoagy with everything (wasn't feeling too adventurous), and it was pretty good. A buddy bought one of their hot sauces and it does more than justice to its name: "Instant Combustion!". They also have some Teriyaki stuff that I want to try next.

The cashier spotted me three cents, so I am going to give them back my two cents. I walk in and no one is inside, but about 7 tables have trash on them. There are Snapples and Thomas Kemper root beer bottles bulk-stacked on the counter and I don't see a large menu on the wall. For some reason, I held a totally different impression of this place. I was surprised to see it run by an Asian family, but I guess that doesn't really matter. I looked at the menu and felt pressured to pick quickly. I ordered the Large Mushroom steak sandwich with American cheese, grilled onions, and mayonnaise. It was so good but I would probably have liked a different cheese and a more toasted bun. I wouldn't dare touch the salad bar, but found the amazing selection of hot sauces appealing. With names like "Ass of Antarctica." "Elvis," "Trailer Trash," and the funniest of all, "Fiery Fart." This is in addition to the displays upon displays of all the different hot sauce bottles and brands they have collected. That was quite unique.

I also ordered the fish and chips which was just all right. The fries were a little warmer than room temperature even when I wanted to steal a fry on the way home while driving. What was even worse was that when I walked in my house my dog had broken a plate in the kitchen! The food didn't really turn my mood around, but I sure am full and sad that I am falling asleep... Some other things, you have to use their bottle openers to open your Corona, and you can tell it really is run by Asians because they have Soy Sauce available at each table right next to the Tabasco! Service was quick, though, and it gets points for being the local steak sand which joint in Fremont. Plenty of parking in the rear. -Matt

Good sandwiches at a good price. They also have the best selection of hot sauces I have seen in a while. I go for the large deluxe hoagy that has a little tomato sauce on it with everything and the fries. On several occasions my friends got the Combination Udon and it looked awesome, I just really like the sandwiches too much to get it.

Good eat at a good price!!!  I go for the deluxe Mexicali Cheese Steak and a side dish of seasoned fries - Yum!!Yum!!.

In regards to service - you get that nice feel as if mom just served you a warm meal.   Beside food, part of the fun in going to this place is to see all the hot sauces place around the walls.  Friends and I always wonder where they get all the hot sauces?
