4 reviews for Bob Roth's New River Groves
I am writing this review with the hope that keeping my fingers busy will keep me from running back into the kitchen and devouring the entire pie that's currently sitting on my kitchen counter.
I'm training for a half-marathon, dammit, I don't need this kind of temptation!
For awhile, I've been lamenting the lack of places (aside from Denny's) where one can go and pick up a good old-fashioned pie. To satisfy my craving I tried the frozen food section at Publix and it only made me want a real pie even more.
Enter Bob Roth's. A co-worker who lives in Broward heard about my pie craving and offered to pick up a pie for me. I can't remember the last time I had a banana creme pie, but oh my, this one really hit the spot. A good balance of crispy graham cracker crust, sliced bananas and right level of sweetness and whip cream.
Tomorrow, I'll try the chocolate cream pie she got for me too.
Alright, one more piece...
Definitely a pie that would inspire a drive on the weekend for a guilty indulgence.
Ok...i still had pie in my freezer from nrg and I decided to do a side by side taste test with both pies from another place (see my reviews) and new river groves. What a huge difference in taste. The other business topped this one by a million...I never knew how fake this pie was until I tried the real thing.

In my quest to find the best key lime pie in south florida...I found this place. If you turn the… Read more »
They have a great selection of all different pies, not just their famous Key Lime. The Key Lime is in my top 3, my no.1 being from the Fish House in Key Largo. I am not a whipped cream fan, so I get it without. My mother-in-law says this one is the best. We do love their blueberry pie! The also have great soups, fresh stone crabs at reasonable prices, and they make fresh fruit smoothies and even have the protein powders to add if you like. This is one of the last Florida "grove stands" left standing and I am glad they are still around. Growing up here, it just reminds me of how Florida used to be. Also, in case you don't know, Cape Fear filmed a scene here years ago! It is a cool place with friendly faces and good food to take with you or eat at the small counter (I always take mine to go).
they sell florida essentials
didn't get all the way here, but did sample their key lime pie
their style is heavy on the lime (though color off?), light on the sweetness -- so you'll only like it if you like really tart
crust is creamy instead of crumbly (thus if you like graham cracker then this won't be food)
the whipped cream on top has lime in it also (a plus)
so the thickness of the pie, the crust, and the cream feels heavy and dense
in comparison from the Key West places, this one is only so so (updated since i tried Key Lime N More)
