8 reviews for Bob & Judi's Coolectibles
Bob & Judi have been close friends of my mom for something like 30 - 40 years. They used to run a tie-dyed and airbrushed clothing company (called Romantics - I was a baby model for their catalog hehe). As times changed, they started hunting down antiques and various knick-knacks, and eventually that turned from a hobby to their primary focus. Opening the store was a huge deal for them, so I was thrilled to find out that it's become a popular Park Slope business (apparently celebrities even stop in from time to time)!
If I didn't live in Boston, I'd probably be there on a weekly basis. As is, I tend to stop in (or have my mom shop for me) whenever I move or feel the need to redecorate. Whenever I'm searching for something to give my apartment a little funky touch, I can count on them to have the perfect item. They also find some awesome jewelry. I've got a few of the black & white prints of old New York, and some fun tin signs that say things like "Drunkness Prohibited."
Every time I meet somebody who lives in Brooklyn, I encourage them to stop in. More often than not, they're already familiar with the store. So if you aren't yet, get on it! I guarantee you'll find something you fall in love with! And if you can't find what you're looking for, ask Bob or Judi. Sometimes they have hidden treasures. :-)
The prices are way too high.
Such a great place if you're on the hunt for something unique as a gift. The prices are way too high if you're looking for a cute mug, or a new ring; but it's fun to look at if nothing else.
This is one of the best stores in Park Slope! They have really good taste in antiques and collectibles, which makes them stand far ahead of the typical antiques store.
On a recent trip I saw a school chair with attached desk painted baby blue, old letter stamps, cool soda bottles, etc.
I hold mixed feelings for this petite shop filled with quality antiques. Though their goods are rare and mixed, from old Brooklyn park plaques to vintage cameo candy boxes, I have a hard time handing over 20 bucks for a single ceramic plate. Their prices are a bit steep, even if they do have a great eye.
I give it 4 stars for their 50 cent photographs and one of the best finds maybe I've ever seen - a small sealed can of "Authentic San Francisco Fog," stamps and hand scrawled addresses from SF to Brooklyn still securely attached.
If only it wasn't $15!
This is a great place. I was at a loss for a wedding gift, and was going to have a drink at Maria's Mexican Bistro with a friend to moan and complain about the situation when we stopped into Bob & Judi's just to take a look around. We both found things that we loved (me, an iron necklace stand with birds on branches), and I found a beautiful drink set with a yellow frosted glass pitcher and matching little glasses and a gold leaf stirrer. Turns out the bride who received the present--her parents' had one just like it when she was a kid and she loved it. The store also sells wood furniture refinishing solutions, one of which did wonders for our old wooden table.
every year i come here to do my christmas shopping. i always find at least one gift that is unique and perfect for a difficult person to shop for. i have found many a beautiful antique tin and am always drawn to the vintage christmas decorations that are for sale. i think the name of the game here is a small family owned business+ unusual and vintage gifts+ a nonmaul experience= ept christmas shopping!
it is rare to find a truly great vintage shop in nyc that isn't egregiously overpriced, but lo and behold, bob and judi's is the real deal, holyfield. the shop is narrow and cramped (don't show up drunk and stumbly!) with great finds just dripping off the shelves. they have some truly beautiful pieces of jewelry, wonderful paper ephemera and tons of random knick-knacks. were you aware that you needed a collection of porcelain donkeys? now you know! furthermore, the proprietors have always been lovely and helpful and not doing the over-the-shoulder-loom so often employed in tiny spots like this.
