During the most recent snow, some moron hit my parked, '98 Honda Civic overnight and took off leaving my bumper destroyed, my left rear quarter panel halfway through my trunk, and yours truly to pay for all this out of pocket so shallow your feet wouldn't get wet. After calling around and dealing with the ambivalence you would expect over the phone from a collision shop (..."bring it in we'll take a look at it; uh oh, can't let you drive outta here like that... we're gonna have to rebuild your car from scratch and order parts which can only be hand crafted by the most skilled artisans as far away as the highest shipping charges we can bill you for."), I called Blue Star and spoke with Ivan. Right off the bat I caught a good vibe; he took a decent minute to listen, and after emailing him a picture of the damage, Ivan was able to give me the most accurate estimate I have ever been quoted over the phone by anyone for anything (car stuff, travel, insurance, etc.). Ivan even stated that they have approximately a 95% accuracy rate when it comes to quoting damage from pictures sent on-line. Not only was I given a quote to replace all the parts, but a cheaper quote to simply repair the damage. I took that as another good sign since most places will only give you one expensive replacement quote. So far it all sounded good, but talk is cheap and while I don't believe everything I'm told, my car was still a pile of hot mess on the street so I took a leap of faith and brought it in.

Ivan and I surveyed the damage in person and I was given a third quote that was between half and less than half of the other two quotes. Not only did he advise we go the least expensive route, which included replacing the bumper, the damaged tail light, and just straightening out the quarter panel with no detailing (not planning on going to any auto shows with my car, just points A to B and the occasional C), but Ivan offered to do the cheap repair first for the cost quoted, I would then come back and see if I would want to go further. I was thinking to myself, 'did I just find an auto repair place on the level in New York?' Well it is sunny and 50 deg in the middle of winter. Although still skeptical, I left my car there. For what he was quoting me I couldn't afford not to. I figured I would come back see where we were at and probably end up biting the bullet for the extra work, find a so-so job done in a "get what you pay for" cautionary tale, or have some new defects and expenses discovered to drive up the bill.

Ivan called me a few days later and invited me to see the progress on the car and what work had been done for the the almost to good to be true quote. Walking over there I didn't have any expectations one way or the other, however when I arrived I was pleasantly amazed. Not only had the damaged been repaired, it looked like the accident never happened. What was my formerly compacted quarter panel now looked like it came right out of the factory mold minus the missing paint from the accident. The car was ready to drive home right then and there for the exact price quoted. Ivan even tossed me the keys and insisted I double check to make sure i was happy and that everything worked which it did (lights, trunk latch, gas latch, etc.). Not only was the quote accurate to a "T" but he even offered to touch up the paint with some rust proofing for no extra charge. Totally impressed, I left my car there for the touch up work and asked him to take care of another pre-accident issue with my door, since he did such fine work on the rest of the car, and once again I received a great quote and great work. , almost looks like it never happened; I only say almost since I didn't go for the fine detail work. Bottom line my car is structurally 100% back where it should be and 95% cosmetically.

All told, the repairs took a little over a week; which I did not mind at all, especially for the end result; these guys are busy for a reason, (Good things come to those who wait and to those who can't... Its New York, you can survive without a car for a week or so, besides, the walking will do you good.) The price and the quality of work are as good as it gets anywhere, not just in NYC. More than that, they're honest, decent, and on the level. I triple dog dare you to find a cost, quality, and honesty trifecta that compares to the folks at Blue Star Bros.

So I took my Toyota Corolla 05 here after some douche bag backed up too much and hit my driver side fender and a lil strip from my door. I took it here because of all the good reviews but man i tell you what they took their sweet time on a 2-3 day job. I took the car in on Monday and didnt get back until Saturday.

The job they did was good but they left the inside of my car dirty like crazy and i some wear and tear on my driver side mirror and inside my door by the small speaker. Would I take it back here? Yes! but i would tell them to stop being so sloppy! The body and paint job was a++ tho.. bring your car here just be upfront and make sure they dont leave the inside dirty.

I usually dont write reviews unless something is really good or really bad. This place is really good. They did an amazing job with my Audi restored it to about 95% and for 1/3 of the cost. Ivan (the owner) was very polite and very honest. You don't find someone that honest in NYC especially anything related with auto repairs. Not only did he fixe the damage from the accident but he also fixed the other part of my car which was unrelated for no extra charge. The only major concern is they were a week late almost with my car. I would highly recommend them but be prepared for a delay because they are busy for a small shop.

My 89' Mercedes was leaking water and it ended up on the floor of the car. After knowing no one, I researched Yelp, I went to this place, Ivan (the owner) was great they gave me an estimate, after thinking we resolved the problem I discovered it was still leaking water. Blue Star held onto the car until they were able to find the problem. Price didn't change either. The car doesn't get water anyone. I highly recommend this shop.

I haven't written a review on Yelp since..  Well, since I lived in San Francisco.  But this was worth it.

My driver's side car window had been smashed in and I needed to get it fixed.  Usually I've gone to two hour auto glass in Windsor Terrace- and they do a good job- but to be quite honest, living in Greenpoint, I didn't really feel like sitting on glass shards and rolling down the BQE just to go to someplace familiar.  So I looked this place up on Yelp and decided to take a chance.

Totally worth it.  Not only was the price $50 less than what I had paid the last time a window was smashed in 3 years ago, the work was done IN AN HOUR, the car was entirely cleaned out on the inside and the people in the office were incredibly helpful and polite.  (I hope this doesn't mean that the prices are going to go up now..)  Oh, and it was 4 blocks away from my house.

Anyways, the only downside is that it was a bit hard to find, considering there were half a dozen auto body shops on the block.  Its on the south side of the street, across from the yellow sign auto body shop.  The sign is there, I just didn't see it initially.

This place is very reasonably priced, gets the job done quickly, and is clearly committed to each client. I took my car here when my front passenger window got smashed. I brought it in at one (after talking to them earlier that morning), they had picked up a piece of glass from New Jersey (as my old volvo has weird window requirements), and were able to get it done for me by 5. It was obvious that they were invested in getting my car ready for me as quickly as possible.

When I went to pick it up the people there were exceptionally friendly. I am  exceptionally pleased that I took it here as opposed to an over-priced and impersonal dealership. From now on, this will be my go-to car place.

I recently took my car, that was coming off of lease, to Blue Star Brothers to have a few repairs done.  When I met with Ivan, he took the time to go over the whole car and discuss exactly what was needed.  He then gave me a very competitive quote so I decided to have the work done here.  And I am very happy that I did.  They really did an excellent job for exactly the quoted price and got the car done in the time they stated.  The car looked great, both inside and out and they were very friendly and easy to work with.  I would definitely take my business back here.

I leased a VW Rabbit and two weeks before I was ready to turn it in and buy a new car, it got smashed while parked by a tractor trailer...  Luckily, the cops were near by and got the truck driver before he could pull away.  The whole passenger side was crushed!  So here I am, with a leased car that has to be turned in within a matter of days with no passenger side left on the car.

Thank goodness for Yelp. I'm originally from Philly and had no idea where to go... These guys made this thing look like brand new.  When I returned the Rabbit to Manhattan VW I wasn't charged a penny for any damages.  They did such a good job, that he even repaired things (minor dents and dings) AND shampooed the interior for free so I didn't have a bill sent to me from the leasing agency!

Then, it gets better...  I bought my new car.  Brand new VW TDI.  I was parked at the Atlantic Terminal and a cab side-swiped it while parked!  AGAIN!  Not the end of the world, but a def scrape down the driver's side.  I brought it to Blue Star and they painted and buffed the scratches for free and they did it that day!!!  He said I was such a pleasant customer, and he did end up making good money on the leased car that he waived the cost!  The car once again looked like new.

Every body shop should take lessons from these guys.  Not only were the prices reasonable, they understand how to get repeat business.  They have earned themselves a customer for life.  This is how ANY business should be ran.

I was "tapped" by a cab near the front wheel on the passenger side. The cabbie drove away before my mind caught up with what happened given that it was not an obvious collision. When I checked the car it had a light dent and some scuff marks. This car is over 12 years old, so I was not going to be concerned about it's appearance. However, I discovered that the passenger door would no longer open fully because of the dent. This, I was concerned about.

First I attempted to pull the dent out myself, but I seemed to only be making it worse. I then found Blue Star on Yelp, and given the positive reviews I decided to go there for an estimate. The guy there looked at my car and told me that if I came back in 20 minutes he could pull it out for free. Sold!

Once they were able to get my car in the garage, he took out what seemed to be a specialized hook and restored the panel to it's proper shape in about 2 minutes flat.

They were quick, professional, and pleasant. I left with a properly functioning car for just the cost of a generous tip. Highly recommended!

I had a little run-in with a Hasidic mini-van on Broadway and Hooper (who hasn't - those guys drive like aggressive maniacs) and had to get the front headlight on my Volvo 240 replaced.  After my really great experience at Blue Star over the summer, I went back.  I'm always wary about going to mechanics or doing any car-related stuff because I know nothing about them.  As a woman, I feel especially vulnerable walking into these "masculine" places, where I feel like I'm at an immediate disadvantage.  I've felt targeted before by mechanics as the dumb broad who can be taken advantage of since she doesn't know a thing about cars.

I didn't feel this at all at Blue Star.  The owner, Ivan, treats me like an equal.  He explains everything he has done, showing me the parts he replaced and why he had to replace them.  I feel certain he is completely honest - an all-around stand-up guy.  I, once again, recommend this place without reservations.  If you have any body work you need done, go there!  The prices are fair, the work is excellent.

I can only agree with the previous reviews.

Dropped my beloved FX35 off after a parking incident. Nothing major but still needed a little dent fixed and a small paint job to get it back looking new.

Ivan, who runs the place, is a really nice guy and talks to you in a manner that makes you feel good about what he want to do to fix it and that doing so without you feeling being cleaned out. The guys working there also seem to take pride in what they do.

Got a price quote at the official Infinity shop prior to heading down to Blue Star and I saved roughly 40% from the original Infinity quote and the car looks great.

I definitely will go back if I have too.

Long story-Short;  My 10 year old Bmw 323I needed some tough body work & I found Blue Star among other auto-body shops on Yelp. ( I will tell you that I am a person who is a very comparitive shopper. I look at ratings for various products on line, consumers magazine & most recently Yelp.)  I checked out & visited about 5-6 body shops on & off yelp.
I chose Blue Star for 2 main reasons;  Yelp ratings & Ivan, the owner of Blue Star Brothers.  I figured that all of these 5 star & near 5 star ratings had to have some credibility.  I brought my car in & Ivan went over every detail & then gave me, what I considered, a very fair price-actually for the work he promised to do, it seemed much more than fair!  I can only say that Ivan was absolutely straight forward & honest--almost too good to be true!  But!  The final test would be how he repaired my car.
Actually my car was kept in the shop a few days longer than I expected.-
I wanted to alot enough time so I did not complain.  When I picked up my car I was amazed!  Every detail we had discussed plus more was completely repaired.  I couldn't believe it!  My car looked new!  What more can I say!
The price paid was considerably less then any of the shops I had checked out previously.  I would certainly give Blue Star more than 5 stars if I could but the highest ratings only go to 5.

First things first, the owners of this place are indeed extremely nice fellas.  They are patient, attentive, reasonably priced and all around likable.  But on to the important stuff:  the work...

The work I had performed was rather simple, a small re-paint job on a newer model sedan.  While not "horrific", it was barely acceptable.  The color match was perfect but that's the easy part.  There were many, many dust marks, imperfections and spots on the new paint.  Surprisingly these imperfections were presented as being quite "normal" by one of the partners.   What?  They eventually offered to repaint it.  Great, I thought.  But the result was exactly the same.

While not huge issues, a few peeves:
    - They were 9 hours AHEAD of the promised completion time the first time (a rushed job or overestimation?)
    - They were unable to deliver as promised the second time, delaying delivery several times including another overnight and delay.
    - The general cleaning inside and out was terrible; grease marks on the leather, smudge marks on the glass everywhere, heavy compound residue on the sides and undercarriage.

I did notice many of the other rave reviews were for work on older model cars (many of which have a curiously high number of  "useful" clicks).  Maybe I'm pickier with my new sedan's paint or maybe they just dropped the ball on this one.

Overall, not impressed.  I wouldn't go out of my way to go back to this place should I need future body work done.

If only all auto body and mechanical repair shops would pay attention to customer service the way Ivan and the staff at Blue Star do. Happy customers will return, refer others and gladly spike your Yelp rating. It's such a simple, relatively painless philosophy, yet, so few of these businesses pay it the requisite attention...Btw, I've been to a number of auto repair outfits in Brooklyn and none hold a candle to Blue Star in terms of that Holy Grail of CUSTOMER SERVICE. (Granted these are not all collision repair places, but my point Re. customer service stands.)  So anyway, my car, while parked in Bed-Stuy, was the victim of a hit and run, and sustained moderate cosmetic damage to the front end. Mine being a German car, any damage, whatever the level tends to come with a hefty (non-moderate) price tag. I dreaded the prospect of finding a good, reputable collision repair shop that wouldn't squeeze me dry. I have no collision coverage, btw. Thanks to Yelp, I found Blue Star Brothers and based upon the positive reviews decided to go there first for a quote. I phoned Ivan and he asked me to come right over. I got to Blue Star and he promptly surveyed the damage and went over what the repair would entail. We went into the office where he formulated a preliminary quote--he phoned his parts supplier right in front of me, while on the computer. (Ivan actually reminded me that Yelp referrals come with 10% off and proceeded to deduct that!) He quoted me a seemingly reasonable $850, but I told him that I still wanted to shop around. To this he responded with an understanding smile, "Of course!" and no hard-sell pressure. Needless to say, after visiting several other shops and being greeted with the industry- standard surly service (particularly @ Holy Land) and higher repair quotes, I returned to Blue Star. In three days Ivan had my VW looking as good as before the accident--there is no way to discern that it was ever even damaged.  I swear it even drives better than before!!  Last point: After fixing the car body, Ivan spent roughly an entire day trying to replace my tire due to the difficulty of removing the one locked lug nut, for which i did not have the key. He ended up having to go to the dealer himself and purchase a new key. I paid for the key but no additional labor charges. Again....say it with me kids..."CUSTOMER SERVICE!"

I waited a couple of weeks to write this review, so I know everything is still working fine.

I hadn't met my deductible, so I had to pay out of pocket, but that was kinda-sorta okay since the prices weren't bad.

    I agree with earlier poster:

"Ivan, the owner and manager, is an honest, straight-forward man who explains everything clearly and in a friendly way."

The son who was there was also very professional.

I have a 21 year old Lincoln Town Car which sustained damage to the two left hand side doors. I live in Manhattan and received ridiculous quotes from several body shops. Based on the reviews I read I called Blue Star and went there there for an estimate. Ivan who runs the shop was cordial and quoted a great price which I accepted. I left the vehicle the following week and when completed the car looked like new. Due to the age of the vehicle there was more work involved than expected but the price held firm. I actually felt that I was under charged.
I would not hesitate to recommend this shop to anyone. They are honest, fair and do great work.

I don't have a lot of experience with auto body shops, but this is the first one I've been to in the city and I was very pleased with the work done on my car.  My back bumper had been seriously hit a few months ago when it was parked on the street (of course, no note), and it damaged not only the bumper but also the taillight and a panel between the two.  I called a couple other body shops in Brooklyn which gave me a similar quote to Blue Star but honestly, I chose Blue star because they had such phenomenal yelp reviews.  I'm also one of those people who don't know a lot about cars... in other words:  an ideal customer to rip off...and I noticed a couple other yelpers who had excellent experience here had described themselves as such.  I never felt I was being taken advantage of throughout the process.. and Ivan and his brother were very nice and professional through the whole process.  With the raw quote it was suppose to be $1,000, but Ivan said he'd do it for $800 (I paid in cash of course... always remember, business owners hate credit card fees).  My only complaint is that I had a small part hanging down undernieth my car that needed a simple bolt.  They said it was a simple fix and would do that for no additional charge, but it was never done.  I got it done at a dealership for $25 so whatever... Anyway, my car was returned to me in excellent condition and they thoroughly cleaned the outside as they knew I have plans on selling it soon.  I have already recommended them to a friend whose bumper has been damaged as well, and will continue to recommend them to those of us crazy enough to own a car in the city.

I don't normally write many reviews but Ivan is truly worthy of it. He replaces a huge dent on the side of my black 2005 A4 Cabrio and it truly came out like new. I was very hesitant about having the work done outside of an audi shop b/c of the worry that the paint match wouldnt be what i would be satisfied with but he really excedeed my expectations and not to mention his veryyyy reasonable price that nearly came in half of what the other guys were charching. besides the car being left a lil dirties then i would have likes but i'm sure that was only b/c i was rushing him and didnt' really let him finish but nothing the car wash couldnt clean all in all I'm beyond happy with my car. I wish there were a sixth star or a tenth. I am so delighted by the service that I get at this body shop that I almost feel like crashing my car into a wall in order to give them more work. They color match expertly and [dare I say, lovingly] attend to every detail of autobody repair. I've had mutilated fenders seamlessly repaired and painted, side-view mirrors replaced, bumpers refinished perfectly, a hood repainted, tires ordered, etc. The place is very busy and you realize why the second you meet these people. These consummate professionals treat their clientele like family from the moment you walk in the door. They are the nicest and most caring people. They are honest (Ivan has talked me out of work!) and their prices are extremely fair bordering on absurdly low (and for the best work in town). On the one occasion when I spoke to another client as we were picking our cars up simultaneously, we were both raving about the service and work. That tells you something. There is no hard-sale because these guys get plenty of work. As busy as they are, I never have to wait for long and the car is always ready before I expect it to be. I'm no newbie to autobody repair and am embarrassed at how many cars I've had in NY (now I have a geo metro so at least I feel like I'm not a gas guzzler). Ivan has fixed a 2007 BMW for a friend of mine, my 2002 Maxima, and my mother's 2004 Corolla, and in all instances, the work was utterly flawless. My mother lives in Rego Park, Queens and drives to Greenpoint when she needs any autobody service. I drive from South Brooklyn. My friend with the BMW drives in from Jersey City! These guys are worth it and you'll save a lot of dough. Just brilliant. Thank you Ivan and family! I am so indebted to you! Maybe I should have found something to criticize because this sounds like an advert but there are just no negatives about this place (read some of my lower-star reviews and you'll see I can be scathing when inspired to be)...

They just fixed two very minor problems on my car today in under 5 minutes and didn't come close to charging even a fraction of what any other shop would have. I can't believe I was driving my car for the past 6 months ignoring the squeaking from the loose front panel just because I knew if I brought my car to a place nearby my house, I'd get put through the ringer! If they did mechanic work too, I'd bring it here without hesitation. Really good guys. And yes, I bring my car to Blue Star all the way from Staten Island. Just because I moved from L.I.C. does not mean I'll give up a gem like that! D.L. is entitled to his review of course, and I'm sure it's helpful for many folks, even perhaps Blue Star, but his suspicious attitude of the other reviews here is fairly annoying. I've been acquainted with Ivan and his staff for many, many years and I can guarantee you that any positive attention that they are getting is not only long overdue, but well deserved.

I took my 01 Max there after someone had hit my front bumper and ran...the damage was pretty significant and after calling up Blue Star, I knew I was in the right hands almost immediately.  Ivan is the owner of the shop, and he's one of the most down-to-earth, and honest men I've ever worked with before (this is coming from someone that scrutinizes personalities, egos, and demeanors!).  He asked me certain questions over the phone regarding the damage so that he could give me a correct estimate and even when I went there, he DIDN'T say, "you need this done, this done and this done...and it's gonna cost you about $1000 more"....but he gave me an honest price without any deviance.  The quality of the work was good and the paint job is excellent and matches well.  I hope Blue Star draws more customers in the near future as they are truly a worthy body shop.  You know you're in good hands as soon as you meet Ivan....you'll see what I mean.  I will certainly tell all my friends that need any type of work done...
