I had a fantastic dinner here last Saturday. It gets 4 stars only because of the fact that, once again, there is no consideration in regards to draft this time of year!
Why on earth business here in the states don't take a lesson from the Europeans and put up beautiful, thick velvet curtains at the entrance...is beyond me.
Anyway, the meal was delicious....the menu is mainly Italian, but with a twist so to speak.
I had the chicken marsala and it was some of the best I have ever had.
Definitely don't regret the bite of Penne Roberto off my friend's plate either.....
Give it a whirl if you're in the area!
Super tasty lunch, and quite a good deal for a resort town and the quality of the meal. Setup is modern/ sleek but not too formal.
Lunch Entrees: We had the salmon BLT and a yellowfin tuna sandwich. Both were quality fish, cooked properly with good flavor. The combo of flavors on the salmon was excellent- bacon, red-pepper aoli, and the Havarti cheese- super good (tho not super good for you). I did intent to ask for the aoli on the side, it was a little more saucy than I prefer, so ask for a side if you don't like alot of creamy sauce.
Sides:
- The fries were insane good overall, but a touch salty.
- The tomato basil soup had a good flavor, but I didn't really like the creamy/oily style- much heavier than tomato-basil usually is. Next time I'd go with the side salad instead.
Overall I definitely recommend checking out the good lunch deals here.
Holy duck compoti & hash! That was the most amazing brunch I've had in a long time. The food was appropriatly portioned and very filling. I was a little disappointed in the mimosa, but Jonesy's Eat Bar spoils me with theirs. But I can't wait to go back for their jazz one night.
We went here for "thanks giving" dinner.
We called at 5pm for a 6pm reservation and they were very helpful! We arrived right on time even though we got the reservation (be aware that there is a south and north side of main street)
We found our favorite wine on the menu - Le' Cole Merlot - 2005!
We did the calamari as our appetizer. It was toted as the best appetizer in town, but I must say we have definitely had better and the rest of their menu was definitely better!
They had a 3 course meal for turkey day that we skipped but did partake of the squash soup that was the first part of the 3 courses!
For our meals I did the scallops - OMG - amazing and super yummy! The black lentils were anh, but the scallops - oh my goodness!!! Yummies!
Hubby did the pasta Roberto and wow it was really tasty!!
For desert we did a great port and the crème Brule - it was the second to last available and amazing! The crust was great - it took 2 hits to break thru and the taste - whoa!!
All in all it was a great meal! The local was cute! The wait staff was great! Friendly and helpful!!
We called earlier in the day and made a reservation at BRB for 8:45pm. We had heard so many great things about their menu that we decided when in Breckenridge one must check out BRB...so when we called the only options were 5:30pm or 8:45pm, we selected the latter time, gave them our phone number & name and got off the phone.
Well, we got to the restaurant at 8:57pm after walking down from our Condo and having an exceptional day on the slopes, saving our appetites so we could indulge at BRB. However when we arrived, the Hostess politely told us that our Table had been given away because we missed the 15 minute cut-off time. We looked at her clock and sure enough it said 9:02pm, exactly 5 minutes faster than the 4 Cellphones our group had with us which all displayed the Universal Network time of 8:57pm. So we were rather disappointed and realized we were late but we also questioned why they hadn't called us to inquire if we were still coming by. Walking down we had no idea that we weren't on time and surely were walking as fast as we could because it was cold out & we were looking forward to this fabulous meal we were about to have.
The Hostess told us we could grab a drink at the bar and that it probably wouldn't be more than 15 minutes, so we did...25 minutes later we inquired about the table and the hostess said it would only be a couple of minutes, to settle our tab at the bar and she'd be right with us...10 minutes later we re-approached her and she said it would only be a few minutes more...so collectively, we decided to forgo the table, go to another restaurant that appreciated our business and close the door on Blue River Bistro.
The Martini I had was great, the atmosphere was loud yet people looked like they were enjoying themselves. The problem was that the Hostess' gave us the impression that they didn't really care that we had lost our table, that they had given it away and didn't seem to want to do anything to make things right. They gave us the impression that they were so busy that they really didn't need our business. We decided that they probably didn't even have a table to give us or if they did, they hadn't waited the 15 minutes and questioned why we had given them our phone number if they weren't going to call us to confirm we were on our way...pretty sad.
I'm sure the food is as great as everyone says but there are several other restaurants that were given as good, if not better reviews, by friends & locals, which were Relish & Hearthstone to name a couple. We'll start there next time we visit Breckenridge.
They should hold a class on how to make Creme Brulee. It was A.W.E.S.O.M.E
The Penne Roberto was incredible. Just a hint of spice for a bit of kick, and full of flavor. The Calamari, pass. Try something else.
Back to the Creme Brulee, it was omg good. not just "This is good creme brulle" but "wow this is better than sex" ok well maybe not better than sex, but you get my point. The creme crule is great, get it.
One of my favorite spots in Breck, great menu and martinis.
Can be extremely loud if you're next to the band they force-fit into the dining area. The bartenders are not friendly, the service is uneven, but average for this resort town that struggles to find good help.
Lunch here is a better value. The wraps are good as are the fried calamari, which is their specialty. Nonetheless even this dish takes on a SYSCO appearance--you just know this is from a box and not really prepared with any passion.
I would avoid every single pasta on the menu. Pasta is overcooked. The salads, on the other hand, are quite good. That's why I think this is a good lunch restaurant as it's quiet and off the path a little bit. Even has a decent outside patio.
Careful, though, the happy hours get obnoxious, and the bartenders turn into meatheads who like to throw their weights around during the day apparently and get surly at night.
Average to above-average pasta dishes and a wonderful atmosphere. Large portions and good vibe. They are known for live music and a happening bar scene. The food is priced somewhere in the middle and you definitely need reservations during peak times.
While the food floats around average, we always have a good time at the Blue River Bistro.
We came here for brunch on Sunday and were delighted with their menu and $2 Mimosas / Bloody Marys. It was tough to decide between the fritata, the french toast and the eggs benedict, all with Blue River's own special twist. There were enough of us that we got to try them all out and loved every bite!
The martini list looked so good we nearly came back for dinner as well! =)
this place has a very very cool bar. sweet atmosphere. you feel like youre in a metro area, other than the parkas and big boots you need to haul around with you so you dont freeze your booty off.
try the chocolate cake thing. its delicious.
i would be interested in the new years party here. i'll write another review after i experience that.
I'd say 3 1/2 if I could. Went there for our anniversary dinner and the ambiance was nice and the waitress was great. I got the chicken parmesan and the hubs got the clam pasta w/pesto/cilantro....both of which were very good. The biggest downfall was the desert selection, my guess is they don't do it on-site so the options were sparce. A nice night out but nothing to write home about.
This used to be one of my favorite restaurants to eat at when I was living in Breckenridge. They had a pretty nice menu for even the most discriminating of palates . My favorite meal there was a New York strip that was prepared with Gorgonzola and served medium rare. If you find yourself in town here I would highly recommend stopping in for a meal.
Two for one.... what's not to like about that? Martinis and late night food, I mean.
