I absolutely love Mexican food, so I was stoked to give this place a try since it's about 5 minutes away from where my grandma lives in Tuckahoe. It was a weekday evening in mid-October and there weren't many people eating there. There was an abundance of waitstaff there however, including 2 hostesses chattin' it up (who were helpful when summoned, unlike the waiter), many waiters and a few bartenders tending to the patrons watching the 'futbol' game on TV.
We ended up having a pitcher of Red Sangria and ever since I had it, I have been longing to have some more! There is so much wrong with how people make Sangria all over the place, and it was really pleasant to enjoy a Sangria that tasted part dry wine, part fruity, and a small part sweet. I'm not a sweet wine person so this Sangria really hit the spot for me. For dinner, I had the Quesadilla Supremo, which is a very tasty mix of skirt steak, shrimp (although I don't remember it having much shrimp) and cheese (among the normal accompaniments) with a side of mole' sauce. Very delish...I wanted dessert but unfortunately the waiter took so long between giving us our meal and taking our plates that it was just too late for me to wait for dessert... but according to their website, they have won awards for it (and it does look delectable). So I highly recommend having it if you do stop by here for a meal.

I have been to better Mexican places, but this is a great eatery all around (with prices pretty reasonable given where it is). I can't attest to how loud or crazy it might be on the weekends though...

I'd give this place a 3.5 stars if I could. The complimentary chips and salsa is good to munch on while you're waiting for your food.

The chicken taquitos were very delicious. The chicken was tender and juicy and I loved the fact that it came with salsa, guacamole, and sour cream for you to dip them in. My boyfriend had the tacos rancheros and that was good, but it wasn't 'out of this world' great.

The staff was friendly, but not as attentive as I'd like them to be considering there were only two other couples in the restaurant at that time.

I find it to be a little pricey for the amount of food you get though.

Awesome place, can believe its a chain becaus the food is incredible and is freshly made to order. Surprisingly the wings here are AMAZING, rivals wing from anywhere. My favorite is the quesadilla supremo, definitely the best thing on the menu.

The food always tasted good. But on multiple occasions after eating food from here myself and others found it gave us Diarrhea.

Again the food tasted good going in but it wasn't pleasant on its way out. And it wasn't just once and it wasn't just me.

Needless to say I haven't gone back in years. It would have to be the tastiest food ever to endure that for it and it's not.

I love fish tacos and was excited to try them out. Let me say I've NEVER experienced worse. It was like eating a dry, deep-fried frozen fish-stick flattened out and wrapped in a soft taco...YUCKY! As for the service it was good, the atmosphere was very kid-friendly, almost too much so. I felt like I was at a Mexican Chuck. E. Cheese. Ole!

Good, solid Mexican food.  Nothing special but nothing horrible.  Nice ambiance, good place to go with friends for margaritas, appetizers or a huge dinner (especially love their giant burritos!).

I also am a fan of their flan.  I am a flan fan.

Don't eat here if you're a Mexican food snob, eat here if you don't know the difference.

Standard but edible Americanized Mexican. Don't order for delivery; it never tastes as edible as it does in the actual restaurant. Sometimes this place is packed, and sometimes it's empty, so be prepared for anything when it comes to wait time.

There are so many delicious restaurants in Bronxville that I'm not really sure why you'd head here. If you want better Mexican, head to Burrito Poblano in Tuckahoe for the real deal (see review).

I do apologize for updating (instead of editing) but I thought it only fair since I'm increasing the star rating by +1.

The fajita leftovers I took home were surprisingly tasty, and they gave me a few more tortillas (as i requested). It was enough for a full second meal, and the heated up food was basically just as tasty as it was in the restaurant.

I think that if I were to be in the area, I would go back, skip all the appetizers, and just go straight for an entree (an excellent deal for the price - and tastier than the apps).

Hopefully (if there is a next time), the service will be better since I would love to give them a second chance at it.

My husband and I were driving around Bronxville looking for a place to eat and have a few drinks and we came across Blue Moon Cafe. The interior is really nice with a bar area that we will probably gravitate towards next time. The margaritas were excellent. We recommend them on the rocks! We shared queso dip and a burrito.. which was pleeeenty for us! The steak in the burrito was excellent and our server was very very nice. $5 margaritas after 9 pm, so we will be sure to visit later next time. Will definitely be back!

Double the fun and three times the yum!

Came here the other day for a coworkers birthday lunch and had a blast.  First off... the map that yelp provides is wrong because I used it to get to the restaurant and it was terrible (it may be fixed now but in case, if you see on the map that the restaurant is near new rochelle rd, its wrong, go the opposite way on pondfield and you'll find it when you get into the town before the dip in the raod to go under the overpass for the train).... but it was an adventure to get there at least.  It was a great choice though for a restaurant!

I automatically ordered the guacamole which was devine!  Everyone threw themselves at this guac!  The busboy also provided the table with salsa which had a nice kick to it and some tortilla chips that were slightly too salty but you could tell they baked them there.  I loved them with the guac.  The guacamole was not garlicky and it was smooth with some chunk, the consistency I've been trying to get my homemade guac to be.

I ordered the steak and avocado wrap which was refreshing, flavorful and hit the spot... no cheese, no heaviness, just loads of flavor. It came with a little bean and corn salad and a slice of cantalope which i thought was inventive.  My coworker whose birthday it was ordered the fiesta lime chicken which was fantastic (I had a bite) with tons of grilled veggies, plenty of chicken and a good rice!  You can taste the lime but its not overpowering.  Then someone else had fish tacos which were overflowing and couldn't be wrapped it was so stuffed.  He loved his, I didn't have a bite of this.

The atmosphere was fun and resonated with not your typical mexican restaurant but more of an upscale mexican restaurant.  They had fun booths that wrap around that I'd love to sit in next time I got.  One star down because of service... they weren't very friendly nor very attentive.  Oh well.  Either way this restaurant is a definite try!

Went here for a birthday party with my girlfriend. Food was decent, but nothing that really stood out in my mind. They have karaoke apparently, with no type of volume control, and a relatively small space. This translated into a massive headache that I got from some tone-deaf patrons while I was trying to eat my burrito.

Have to say, I love this place. The food is great and HUGE portions...I usually have at least a meal and a half leftover. Seriously. The burritos are ridiculously huge. It's fairly loud so when you go there with friends and kids, you don't feel self-conscious that the kids will disrupt other diners. Even when it's busy, you rarely have to wait longer than 10-15 minutes for a table.

The fact that they're kid-friendly is a huge plus. My son loves it. They give crayons, a kids menu to color on, a glow-bracelet-thingy, and a temporary tattoo of the Blue Moon logo.

We probably hit up Blue Moon at least 3 times a month and I've never been disappointed.

Been here quite a few times, twice this week actually.

The chips and salsa are very good.  Try the guac, very creamy, nice taste.  Had the grilled chicken burritos last time.  Very delicious.  2 small burritos filled with chicken, cheese and avocado then grilled, served with tomatillo sause, rice and black beans.

Definitely try the red sangria.  One of my favorite places for sangria and I really don't like wine at all.

Service is good here, never have a problem getting a table and the wait staff is very attentive.

Dios mio. I think Blue Moon must be Mexican for "big-ass burritos."

I visited the Blue Moon Mexican Cafe this weekend for the second time and must say that it is officially my new favorite restaurant. It starts with the location. Visiting the beautiful village of Bronxville, with its old-world feel and Elizabethan architecture, is a pleasant experience in itself. I like to park a few blocks away on Pondfield Road, which makes for a nice stroll past the local shops before dinner, and afterwards allows you to walk off some of what I guarantee will be a very filling dinner.

Service at Blue Moon is excellent. My two trips to the cafe were on a Friday and Saturday night, with a party of six and a party of two, respectively. We did not have reservations on either occasion, but were seated promptly on both. The host was friendly, and the waiters polite and attentive.

Blue Moon serves up some good sangria -- both red and white -- but the star of the drink menu is undoubtedly the frozen margarita. I've had margaritas in Mexico, Canada (I'd advise against having one there) and in cities across the United States, and I will make the bold statement that Blue Moon's frozen margarita is the single best I've ever had. The almost-creamy consistency is perfect, and the ingredients are excellently proportioned.

The food? You better come hungry. The complimentary chips are quite good, but springing for the delicious guacamole is a wise choice. But try not to fill up, particularly if you plan on ordering a burrito. Blue Moon's burritos are not meant to be picked up. There is no way around it: you're going to need a fork and knife for these humongous things. My personal favorite is the Camarones Tropical, a phenomenal burrito comprising shrimp, pineapple, black beans, rice, mango salsa and avocado, wrapped in a sun-dried tomato tortilla.  The Fajita Moon burrito is also excellent, with strips of steak, peppers and onions, sliced avocado, refried beans and rice all wrapped in a flour tortilla. The burritos are served with guac and sour cream. And there is no shame in wrapping up the leftovers...because there will be leftovers.

Prices are quite good, with dinner for two -- including drinks, an app and main course -- running about $60, including tip.

There are some excellent Mexican restaurants in Manhattan, but they tend to be a bit pricey without offering much more in terms of food or ambiance than Blue Moon. And the service at Blue Moon is probably a bit better. If you're looking for excellent, affordable Mexican cuisine in Westchester, Blue Moon is the place to go.

I spend a lot of time here, and yet I only gave it three stars. Why? Happy hour here is pretty decent. $3 sangrias, which my friends enjoy, but my idea of fruit in a sangria is not whatever is left in the drink garnishing department. $4 margaritas, which can be anywhere from totally tame and terrible to delicious and/or completely lethal. I used to go a lot on Monday nights with a few friends, and the bartender, Jesus, took care of us. For every 2 drinks you order, you get a plate of nachos or quesadillas. When Jesus is working, this means you are getting inappropriately drunk on a Monday night. But you like it. There are nachos in front of you and everything is awesome.

The waitstaff can be bitchy about happy hour. If the bar is full, they won't let you sit at a table near the bar and still get happy hour prices. Never attempt happy hour on a Friday here. It's impossible.

Great FILLING appetizers! None of that skimpy stuff. Went here for Cinco de Mayo and was NOT disappointed. We were seated in a timely manner even theough the place was spilling out the door. Great friendly atmosphere and tastey decor. Entree's are a little on the hefty side. Definitely not a dieters paradise but it's good indulge every once in a while, and this would be the place to do it! :o) A big fan of the "build your own burrito."

Blue Moon earned my 4 stars with their strong Cadillac margaritas and top-notch service alone. And they bend over backward for kids. Fabulous.

I always appreciate their seating options - large bar area, booths and tables, inside and out. The food is average, but has been growing on me. I'm happy to stick to yummy chips and salsa (smoky and pureed), a terrific app sampler, and the reliable burritos.

The clincher for me is that my Southern Californian family loves coming here. What more can I ask from a Mexican restaurant?!

I don't know how I only discovered this place in the early spring of this year.  I feel like I missed a ton and now I'm trying to catch up.

When you get past the loud boisterous and sometimes chaotic atmosphere, this really is one of the best Mexican places I've ever been to.  As some have noticed, it's not pure Mexican, but more Latin fusion with Mexican influences, but the quality of the food is outstanding and consistent.

The Bistek Rachero is one of the most tender and flavorful steaks I've ever had.  Despite the fact that it's a skirt steak (which is often the cut most likely to be compared to a shoe or boot), it's juicy and tender with a tangy flavorful salsa on top.  The Honey Lime Chicken is a nice-sized chicken breast grilled in honey, then doused in lime, a nice combination and very refreshing.

If you're in the moon for burritos, this is a great place to get one, but be warned: they're huge and brimming with fillings, and you can even create your own.  For an appetizer, nothing beats the Chicken Empanadas which are so addictive you may want to order two orders of them if there's anyone else at your table.

Blue Moon is the class of Westchester Mexican cuisine, and if you're in the area, stop by.  It's a bit spendy but not overly so, and don't be afraid to bring the kids.  Everyone else does.  In fact, on a weeknight, the clientele is almost 80% families with children (which may or may not turn you off; just something to be aware of).

Oh, and if you must have dessert, they're pretty good too.  The Fried Ice Cream is tasty (it's battered in coconut, but it's REALLY good).  The Lunar Crater is also a tasty dessert, and my wife is convinced that their flan is the best outside of her own.

Terrific food.  Good prices.  Awesome service.

That pretty much sums it up.

It's been a while since I've last eaten here but I used to absolutely love their buffalo blue chicken burrito (I just wish they could make it with tofu instead of chicken and then I would be a truly devoted fan!) The burritos are enormous though so come hungry!

Set just slightly off the main roads in Bronxville, its usually a little easier to get parking right around the restaurant than closer to the main part of town.

It's a good time - the drinks are decent are the chips & salsa.

I went here on Saturday night, February 5th with my wife for the upside down Happy Hour and live band. In short, our food was excellent, not so sure that Buffalo Calamari is authentic Mexican cuisine, but the chicken & cheese fajita I had was delicious. Even the black beans & rice had their own distinct taste as opposed to just being a side dish over looked and left on the plate. The portions are big and we were nearly stuffed from just sharing the appetizer before the dishes came out, so we had some good sized doggy bags to bring home.
Maybe because I consider myself to be a bit of Margarita expert, or it could have been an off night for the bartender, but our Margaritas were lacking. I was expecting them to be served in traditional Margarita glasses, not the same glasses as the table water. Aesthetic aside, the drink itself was not sour and too icy. I will have to go back for another happy hour to see if results vary, as I like the place and it is close to home. I read on here that Saturday nights can be loud... well add 10x to that when the band is there. The female lead singer was wailing like a banshee that I was losing focus periodically from the piercing screams. Entertaining I guess for some, but just because the volume goes up to ten, doesn't mean the speakers should be turned up to that point. In total, 1 x appetizer, 2 x entrees, 2 x margaritas, 1 x Modelo Especial Beer = $65. Tipped $10 for a $75 evening out with some questionable entertainment. Not too bad.

It's a good thing we called ahead on the Saturday night we went, as they were packed, so keep that in mind.

Tip: for any NY commuters heading down the Metro North Harlem (blue) line between Monday-Friday, Blue Moon Cafe is diagonal across the street from the Bronxville Train Station and FIESTA HOUR is every Monday-Friday, 4pm -7pm
$4 Margaritas, $3 Sangria and $3 Beer Specials.

If you are in the mood for authentic Mexican food, stay far, far away. However, if you're ok with what I call "Bronxville Mexican," (some might call it Tex-Mex, but I wouldn't even take it that far), then this place can be quite pleasing.  The margaritas are great as are the warm, salty chips and medium salsa.  Big portions and decent-tasting food.  Good happy hour offerings.

After eight years in Bronxville, I slowly became a fan of many of the lunch menu items, especially the shrimp and mango twist (an inventive and refreshing grilled burrito/wrap) and the veggie quesadillas (perfect for those with a small appetite).

This is a great place for large groups, especially during weekday lunch time, when the place is pretty empty save for a few stay-at-home moms with strollers and SLC staff members.  Beware that the service is slow and it can be hard to capture the waitstaff's attention!

My friends, co-workers and I LOVE the new online-ordering option, especially when we're working late nights or during very hectic days at SLC.  We thought it might cut down on the frequency of mistakes that Blue Moon makes when fulfilling delivery or take-out orders, but apparently that was wishful thinking.

Overall, after eight years I am ready to say that Blue Moon is a solid place, especially for the hungry,  and a great pick for groups, but it did take me quite a while to warm up to the middle-of-the-road food.

    Hooray for spicing up Bronxville!

The lunch menu offers a great selection of very reasonably priced entrees and salads.  My dad describes it as "New Jersey-Mexican."

So far, I've only had the vegetarian burrito--a generous bounty of veggies, rice, beans, and other fixings.

The guac, salsa and chips are on point, and, perhaps most importantly, they have great, fresh margaritas too.

For an affordable and not stomach-churning Mexican restaurant in an affluent neighborhood, I loved eating here. Good friends make for an even more fun dining experience, but I doubt that you really can't mess up any dish here. The salsa had just the right amount of heat, and the tortilla chips were not too overdone.

I had the Chorizza (Mexican sausage pizza) and did not know that they would use an actual pizza dough. The menu said "not for the feint of heart," and they were right. I could only eat half of it. What was also nice was that it had dots of fresh jalapeño, so every other bite packed the heat needed for a quick picker-upper.

Next time, I'll try one of the margaritas. I'm also still looking for a place with great tamal besides Chef Bobby Flay's. Anyone know?

let me explain.  usually pharm rep lunches are pretty crappy.  lame ass salads, even lamer pizzas, the requisite sodas, the works.  so i have to confess that i was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the salads, the tastiness of the beef (although i completely missed the tortillas, it still tasted amazing!), the freshness of the guac and salsa, the non-lard-taste of the rice and the general high quality of the food.

but what made this whole meal worth it were the cheesecake chimichangas.  oh my god.  why have i not tasted it or conceived of an idea like this until now?!  lightly fried, perfectly crisp, warm and oozy with this amazing cream cheese concoction, and dusted off with some sugar and cinnamon.  i think i could have buried my face in the pan if i didn't have to pay attention to his little sale pitch.

if i never get to eat it again, i might have to make a trip to blue moon mexican cafe, just to eat this surburban new jersey mexican food.  just for those chimichangas.

Enjoyed a quiet dinner here this past Saturday and left feeling quite content.  At first I was a little disappointed in the tex-mex'ish menu (which isn't my thing) but was happy to find that there were a few options that weren't rolled in flour tortillas and smothered in salsa and refried beans.  The Cherry Pepper Chicken was very nice and came at a reasonable price (16$).  I didn't venture inside, but instead chose the outdoor sidewalk seating as it was a mild night.
In an area where Mexican and South American restaurants are in abundance this seemed more americanized than average...for better or worse.

Service is good, food decent..atmosphere pleasant. Prices are of course, a bit high. It's bronxville after all! A trip here won't be disappointing.

House Margarita's are great! Helpful staff when deciding what you may want and large portions what more could you ask for! i had a burrito and took half of it home. If you become a fan by email you receive a free nacho appetizer! love the atmosphere!

Huge protions and reasonable prices. Every time we go it seems a largee family is celebrating a birthday there. On weekends, expect to wait 15 to 30 minutes for a table.
