I stayed Summer of 2008 at the St Regis Fort Lauderdale (now the Ritz Carlton) & was referred to Blue Moon Fish Co by the concierge. After she reserved a table for us at the last minute on a Saturday evening, we were on our way!
Began the night with a bottle of Moet White Star (I was only 21 and working for myself, save the Dom for next visit!)
I think my ex and I were the youngest couple in the restaurant, which was perfectly fine. I witnessed adult families, dates, as well as what seemed to me like gentlemen on business. Not too loud, spacious enough.
Dinner for me was the grilled filet mignon with the potato, and grapes with cheese garnish. Yummy! Presentation was excellent as well.
I thought I was full. Our server convinced me otherwise. He picked out the chocolate torte for us, and it was the sweetest ending to an adorable dinner on the intercoastal waterway. I am contemplating staying in Fort Lauderdale again this winter as opposed to Miami, just to eat here again, no joke.
2 for 1 lunch even drinks (I think weekdays only)!
Been here a few times for lunch & dinner and I really think this might be my favorite upscale place in Ft. Laud. Great view outside. Everything I have tried is amazing from the apps to dessert. One thing I have to claim is to die for is the chocolate waffles!
This is a place you take someone who want to impress!!
Over the past 10 years I've been to the Blue Moon Fish Company a few times, every time was pretty good except the most recent.
Four of at dinner, two of the four entrees failed.
One person in the group has an allergy to shell fish and inquired specifically whether his choice was served with any type of shellfish. Well it was served with a pink sauce, under which were shrimp. The waiter was indifferent and casually mentioned, "oh they must have changed the recipe". I was annoyed because of the possible health risk involved blown off by the waiter but everyone has an off night.
The second person had a fish of the day special which was overcooked. Our waiter took the fish back to kitchen but was scared to mention it to the chef/owner--seriously, he told us that. Hey everyone has an off night.
We found the restaurant manager, ourselves, and he apologized, took off the 2 bad entrees and asked us to give them another try.
With Blue Moon's entrees averaging in the $30 range, I dont go in frequently but haven't written the place off entirely. When the occasion for a pricy outdoor seafood restaurant comes up, I will try it again.
This place is just not a comfortable place. It's hard to explain. It's like a doctors office. No ambiance. No atmosphere. Everything is just too perfect. Too open. Too black and white. South Beach gay sorta. The tables are all setup so perfectly that you will feel like you're messing it up to sit down. The bar is tiny. I definitely would not recommend this place to anyone who does not go as a couple. Everyone will be looking at you like... who's the single guy messing up the perfect table. They need to add some plants or something to make it more cozy and have some tables that are not so perfect for people to just hang out and have dinner without feeling like you're messing up a perfect table that someone spent an hour setting up.
They are not Campbell's but it's mmm mmm good! The scenic view if you dine outside is romantic and very tranquil. The food is to die for( well if you die b4 you get there you won't get a chance to enjoy it) hehe.. But honestly everything that I gobbled there was delish. They truly have an interesting twist to some of their entrees. All I can say is I'm their cheerleader! Yaaaaay let's go blue moon ;-)
Eh. The view was really beautiful... but the chef had to depend heavily on sauces. I mean, come on, I'm on the ocean, why do you have to cover my supposedly fresh seafood in a cream sauce?
Good place to go to relax, food was decent, but if you fancy yourself to have a sophisticated palate, you will be disappointed in the cuisine.
Another great Sunday brunch at Blue Moon. For variety, we went a little later in the day (post-lunch, instead of late breakfast, you know what I mean?) I thought that it might give me a little bit different perspective at what I thought could be a slightly slower time. Ok, ok. I woke up late. So what? 1 pm yielded some open tables and I was saved from the hordes in the waiting area and outside in valet, so it was a nice start.
I'm convinced of my overall ranking of a solid four stars, but there is one pretty large detail that needs improvement and one smaller point. I'll get to those in a minute. But first, I'm going to share a poem I wrote to Blue Moon. Yes, they are that good - they inspired me. Or, maybe it was the food. Whatever.
**********
An Ode to Blue Moon Fish Company
Oysters glistening on their rocky beds of ice
Tangy, juicy sauces for the shrimp
All you can eat, beautiful portions of meat
Salads and other delicious delights abound
Including mini waffles and omelettes
What more could you ask for?
Glasses clinking, cheers all around
More champagne, anyone?
The Intercoastal flows by, jealous of the fun had within

Ok. I hate to sully up this review after that poem, but I have to add a couple quick comments:
-- the dishes are becoming more "standardized." This is probably due to the fact that Blue Moon hasn't increased their prices for a while, there's probably lower demand and varied ingredients represent huge spoilage risk to a restaurant. But, I did feel I was basically eating the same thing when I had the pork tenderloin and the filet mignon meatloaf, for instance. (same bread sticks, same plantain decoration, same spices, same garnishes, etc.) The mashed potato base was slightly different, but not enough to assuage my concerns.
-- my minor concern is that the desserts are small and coffee is additional charge. I say throw in the house coffee and charge more for espresso-based and fancy after-dinner drinks.
On the great side:
-- the bloody marys are awesome. and I'm not a bloody mary drinker. not even close. but a bit spicy. so watch out if you have a delicate stomach, etc. at our table, the champagnes were poured all the way to the very rim, which was really nice.
-- service is still really good. from the valets out front to the hosts, to the waiters, excellent service. fold your napkin and replace it service. take away your oyster shells and replace the plate immediately service. no funny looks when you order the Nawlins gumbo and follow it up 5 minutes later with the filet mignon meatloaf, which is definitely a much softer and more delicate dish. (shoulda done them reverse order, suppose..)
Totally a fan. We all are. If my family was in town for only one Sunday meal, I'd probably take them here for myriad reasons, many expressed above. But sit outside, it's not hot and there are great views afforded.

All I can say is go for the Sunday brunch buffet.
A reasonable price (right around $29) and the raw… Read more »
Blue Moon has been great every time I've visited for lunch. My coworkers and I used to go all the time, but everyone is so busy now. Last week we visited for the first time in awhile, on the company dime...score! For lunch, they have 2 for 1 entrees, so as long as you order a beverage, they take off every other lesser expensive entree. We usually try to come with an even number of people so we can get the 2 for 1, because this place is not cheap. The menu is not extensive, but everything is really good. This time I had the spinach salad with langostinos, walnut-covered goat cheese, and balsamic vinegrette dressing ($15). It was really tasty and filling for a salad. Their desserts are also fantastic. I recommend the sorbet. Atmosphere is semi-upscale dining and it's nice to sit outside, since the restaurant is right on the Intracoastal Waterway.
Guess I am just different - I dont like all you can eat style and I despise restaurants that display their food (are those made out of plastic)?
Anyway, I followed the hype and the promise of getting a free Mimosa. Honestly, I felt like being on a cruise ship with only one seating after they rejected to give their passenger any food for the last 2 days. Fellow eaters were elbowing each other at the food stations or displayed Starbuck-ish like tranquility and attitude to finger the food first and put it piece by piece on their plate (did I tell u, that I hate when people shake that little sugar thing before they open it?).
Overall the food was ok, but the number of people inside at the stations made me not go back inside more than once. The waiters were non existent and miserable, I guess I would be too, serving these people.
Well, thanks god there is a IHOP further down the road - jk!
So I went to link my review of Blue Moon Fish Co to a fellow Boston Yelper who was in Fl for a spell and.. WHAT? I didn't review it? How the HELL did that happen??
This is not my favorite place in Florida. This is my favorite place, PERIOD. That's right, I said it.. this is bar NONE my number ONE favorite restaurant on Planet Earth. Granted, I have not been to EVERY restaurant on Earth, but I've written more than 400 reviews before this one and at least two thirds of them are probably restaurants, so you get the hint.
Okay, so, admittedly I was sad last time I was there a few months ago and discovered "two-for-one" lunches no longer included booze, but then, it was on the company dime, so I was mostly future sad and not present sad (for the time when the company won't be buying).
But really, I'd pay full price.. the two-for-one deal is just a delicate just right icing on the most intricate and delightful cake one could ever eat.
Every meal starts with breads and roasted garlic.. to be clear, this is a delectable whole roasted clove, and not some mix crap. I can't tell you what my favorite entree is, since I have NEVER had the same entree twice. Everything from Cowboy Steak (I believe that was a special), to seared Mahi, to Filet Mignon, to Scallops, to salads.... I've had. ALL AMAZING.
And for dessert.... ohh... DO go with a group so you can try several desserts and DO make sure one of them is banana creme brulee. I'm am so close to buying plane tickets just for this meal as I write this.
The service here is also impeccable. My fav. waiter of all time was Kevin, but he was gone last time we went... and I have a friend who boned (yes, I said boned) a certain other waiter who I won't name (but I'll soooo tell you if you PM me) years ago, but he was never my waiter so the only service I know about from him is... ugh.. nevermind. Er... I mean, the service is OUTSTANDING all around from waiters, to managers, to bartenders, to hosts.
Shit. I forgot to talk about the booze. Blue Moon had expertly crafted cocktails and a great selection of wine. And for fine dining, isn't as pricey as you might think.
The location is fantastic... right on the Intracoastal and not far from the beach. Oh, and that building you're looking at directly across the water? Yeah... my dad lives there, so be sure to waive hi! (Giant fliers that say "Dawn Loves You" are also encouraged.)
To the purveyors of Blue Moon.... I am SOOOOO sorry I didn't write this sooner. You have been the place I've gone to before every major event since high school and you are the ONLY place I HAVE to go to every time I'm back in Florida and I consistently send ALL my friends to you... so... er... thank you for being so awesome.
I can't believe Yelpers aren't writing about this place all the time. Are there no Yelpers in Florida? The fish dishes are priced higher than a Steak Dinner but I don't care!
I pulled up on a Thursday night and the place was PACKED? Are the current state of affairs not applicable to Southern Florida?? The valet was cool, he told me stay a while and have fun.
I started with the New Orleans Firecracker Oysters with apple vinaigrette and Cajun remoulade. (I'm almost full from this and the alcohol)
Then, Soy Grilled Chilean Sea Bass and Asian Stir Fry with mochi fried rice cakes and sesame toasted macadamia nuts. I almost fainted when the bill arrived for one business person but to tell you the truth, I really don't care!!!
Travel to the place. If you're in town on Business, skip Dennys and no lunch. You can squeeze this in if you order reasonably!
NYBULLY
Wonderful dining experience, I love this place and it never disappoints, great lunch and dinner menus. The food is always perfectly cooked, the fish is always fresh, every dish is an experience of its own. It is on the pricey side, but definitely try it sometime. This restaurant has a great atmosphere and great vibe, I highly recommend it.
This was a truly amazing experience. We went here for lunch today (a Saturday in February). We were concerned about the crowd, so we arrived around 11:45 AM, which turned out to be the exact right time - we were seated immediately, at a table right on the water.
Our server, Chad, was exceptional. He made great recommendations and was very personable.
Since it was lunch, we had the "two-for-one". For starters we had the salmon gravalax and the peel and eat shrimp. Both were great, but the salmon was AMAZING - a huge portion and very , VERY flavorful. At Chad's recommendation, we both had the crawfish and spinach salad, which was delicious. And we topped it off with dessert - the "sticky caramel torte" and the chocolate torte - both of which were SUBLIME.
My fiance` and I LOVE Blue Moon Fish Co.
We especially enjoy the CRABCAKES.
We usually take guests from out of town there, especially for the Sunday Brunch, which includes 1 mixed drink (mimosa or champagne). the food is GREAT.
It's in the intra-coastal and has some outside dining. This is great in season, but we sometimes choose indoor seating.
They have some lunch specials where every 2nd entree is free. THAT's pretty special too.
Overall a Great place with GREAT food. Nice decor and a great staff.
I wish I knew our servers name because he was fantastic!!! Incredibly attentive and professional.
We ate there last Sunday night and I had the special...Strip steak and Lobster tail...but with no lobster tail! The strip steak was PERFECT and quite honestly....the best I've ever had!!
Wish I lived in Florida for that reason alone!
Had lunch here yesterday and thought the food was just great. Had a spinach salad with goat cheese 'fritters' and langostinos. It was great - light and tasty. My bf and another friend had the portobello caprese stack there choice was also very nicely done. It's located just east of the intracoastal on Commercial Blvd. Sit out on the patio and watch the boats go by. They did a two for one for lunch - they said they offer it every day but Sunday. Good bloody mary's too! Yummy.
The food was very good, especially the appetizer platters!
The service was terrible. Half our party had to leave because it took so long for the check to come.
Certainly a spot to check out for the fish (I had the grouper and it WAS good) but be prepared to take your time.
we opted for blue moon for my sons graduation lunch on a saturday. the restaurant had plenty of tables available so we sat right at the waters edge. the weather was overcast so it was cool enough. its great to sit and watch all the boaters go by.
we of course took advantage of their buy one get one free promotion. we ordered the mussels and the salmon appetisers. both were fresh and really great for the four of us to share. the langostino salad with goat cheese was my daughters favorite salad ever. the grilled rueben fish sandwich was fabulous and so was the blackens shrimp ceasar salad. i chose the shrimp po boy and it was also wonderful. we chose the creme brulee and icky sticky carmel dessert. both were great, although my favorite was the creme brulee. can't say anything negative about the food at all. you gotta go. the table could have been bigger for four as we had to keep shifting everything to eat. they only have valet parking which bugs me but since it wasnt crowded we didnt have to wait for our car.
Love this place! Awesome! Great for lunch or dinner. Will accommodate. I had a big party here and they treated us like kings! A business lunch here is wonderful. Quiet great food and white tablecloth. Can't wait to go back.
Brunch here is fantastic! I only had one day in Ft. Lauderdale after my cruise and chose this place for brunch. I wasn't disappointing. Sure it's a fixed price brunch at 29 bucks. Which yeah, is a bit steep, BUT... It is totally worth it if you have the time to have a long relaxing brunch. For the $29, you get one alcoholic beverage (additional is extra), all the coffee, tea, waffles, salads, breakfast pastries, pancakes, omelets from the omelet bar, fruit, dessert, AND as many entrees as you can fit in your little stomach. Can you believe it? I had two : ) Fantastic.
Very nice restaurant right on the water (not the ocean... I think it's a canal). The food is delicious and very fresh, good ambiance but be prepared to wait. Dinners can take a well more then a hour. Highly recommended. This restaurant is always very crowded; make sure you make a reservation.
Very solidly-prepared, fresh seafood, if overpriced. The service is subpar, but the atmosphere is nice, especially if you sit outside.
Good food, good ambiance. Highly recommended.
Make sure you make a reservation for this place when you visit Ft Lauderdale! I came here with a colleague from work on a business trip and we found the food delicious and plentiful! I think they have a dress code so you may want to check up on that one. Great atmosphere and it's on one of the waterways. The prices are a little on the higher side, but worth it!
Must try: chocolate souffle (this has to be preordered)
Vegetarian eats: there are a few appetizer and entree choices. as a vegetarian, i can get sick of eating just salads when i go out, but they really have delicious salad choices if you want one!
This place has the most delectable fish I've tasted. They used to have this early bird two for one that made it even more appealing. ALL the fish dishes are top-quality -- at once unique and classic.
i've been to this restaurant before and i remember it being a lot better... i had the chilean bass cooked in the asian style last time... and i think i remember it being really good... this time i had the peppercorne crusted tuna... maybe it was my fault for asking for it to be medium-rare (instead of the default rare)... but the tuna was rather dry and tasteless... (as most western fish tends to be for my taste - i'm used to salt infused korean fish) or maybe it was because the ahi poki i had as an appetizer was so tasteful that it ruined my palate for the main dish?! i dunnnooo... the company was great (i always have fun going out with my coworkers and colleagues in random cities around the world) but the food was eeehhh... the dessert, we had soufle, was delicious and so this place get's three stars from me tonight. it was light and fluffy (haha), not too sweet - and there was a hint of carmelized sugar - and i loooooove carmelized sugar!!
