holy badass music selection batman!
this is the place to find hard to find music. since high school, i've been coming here for my heavy metal cd's...if you're sick of searching other sespools of "popular music"...or want to find a place where you won't see a poster with some blonde pop princess's stupid face on it...blue meanie is for you. i've found all of my sepultura, pantera, clutch, slayer, blind guardian etc. here. they have a good variety of rock and punk and offer more than just two albums per artist (in your face fuck-mart and sam goody!)
the guys that work here are awesome. check this place out and get your hard (rock) on. -

The second best record store in San Diego! This store is in old El Cajon, Blue and big. You can find allot of old LP's, Hard To Finds, and rareties! The punk, and new wave records they got is unmatched, and you can even ask the record clerks what's up? And what they like!
I remember the owner on T.V. one time made a compliation album of all chicken songs. He had so many records that had chicken songs on it. A customer came in, requested it, and the clerk made it up just for him. Tells you about how the "Old School" still does it! -

Back when I was completely obsessed with music and I would travel all over San Diego to find and purchase hard to find albums, this was one of my top spots.
I used to peruse all the bins looking for rare B sides and Japanese only releases of bands like the Cure, Bauhaus, Janes Addiction, Sisters Of Mercy, Sex Pistols, the Clash, etc etc.
I was really into alternative/ punk rock/ gothic music back then.I never dressed the part though. Well, to a small extent I kinda did.I think its mainly hard rock and heavy metal stuff that they sell here now.
I havent been there in a while but its a part of my teenage past. Oh well, c'est la vie. -

This place would totally rock, if the guys who worked here didn't treat you so badly. It's the typical "I know more about music than you do" type personality. If you happen to like a single band that is mainstream, they'll treat you like a moron. This place has an awesome selection of death and black metal. Seriously, the best I've ever seen anywhere in my life, in any state. They have lots of CDs, DVDs, stickers, shirts and posters. I found a lot of shirts and stickers for bands I couldn't find anywhere else, here. They also buy lots of used stuff. I regret selling a bunch of my old CDs to them, years ago. Prices are reasonable, mid range. They also sell bongs here. I think that's kind of lame. As if you need more stigma for that culture. It's just tacky. They make a big deal about it if you happen to wander towards that part of the store too. Anyway, there's tons of music here, it's definitely worth it if you are looking for more difficult to find stuff. Although, now, with the internet, I can't imagine not being able to find it online, especially if you don't want to deal with being treated poorly. They also have a lot of local band flyers as well, if you're looking for some good local shows.
