this is my new "Go To" place in Tahoe.

Room was larger than I expected, and we got one of the ones with the mirrors on two walls, and I have a completely different take on it... having two mirrors makes the room look much bigger...   either way, the room was bigger than I originally expected...

We pull up and it's a beautiful day, the parking lot is clean, and spots plentiful.....  the young man behind the desk was helpful and welcoming, the fridge and microwave were an added bonus and overall we had a great time for only $44.00 a night.

Added bonus, there's a little taquiera across the street, yummy yummy real mexi food.

Speaking of across the street... everything is within walking distance...  the shops, the gondola, the casinos...  everything...

Funny aside....  on the way to the casino one night we passed the stateline motel we WERE going to stay in (won't say which one)... what a dump...  we made a good choice staying at the Blue Lake Inn, we do not regret a moment, and we're sure you won't either.

Solid three stars.  It's not the Fairmont, but it's a perfectly good inexpensive hotel.

Plus they have a working hot tub and a clean pool.    We looked at the "private beach" they gave us access to, but there was a 100 yard row of huge rusty structures in the water near there, significantly distracting from the view in my opinion.  Nevermind, though, just head a few minutes down the road to Nevada Beach ($7 a day) or  Sand Harbor a half hour away ($8, get there by 10:30 at the latest!) and you'll be at some of the best beaches on Tahoe.

This place has a great location--easy walking distance to Heavenly and maybe between 5 and 10 minutes to the casinos.

Very large room for the price (complete with mirrored walls--perhaps a bonus for some : )  ).

The tv worked just fine.

The king size bed was enormous, comfortable enough, and the sheets were all perfectly clean.   As another reviewer commented, I'm a very light sleeper and it took me one night to get used to the a/c going on and off and the slightly noisy fridge, but I was totally fine after my one night of adjusting and slept right through everything the next night.

Very clean overall, except for the shower curtain which was a bit mildewy at the bottom, but that was more than compensated for by plentiful hot water and super strong water pressure.

The continental breakfast was just doughnuts, oatmeal, juice and coffee, but something for nothing is always pretty cool in my book.

The front desk staff was friendly and  professional.

This place was exactly what we were looking for, and the price we got from travelocity was excellent.

Nice place to stay while in the Tahoe area. Across the street from Heavenly Village. About a 5-10 min walk to the 4 casinos down the street.
Got the beach pass from the front desk (don't forget to ask for one when checking in) The beach is walking distance from the hotel, but we drove - no problems with parking.
We got the 2 queen suite because they ran out of the kings, oh well.
Room had a heater / A/C, microwave, small refrigerator, coffee maker & small hair dryer.
Even though the toilet looked like it was going to over flow each time it was flushed, it didn't. The tub drained slowly but the shower works great and gets hot real fast.
Parts of the floor was lumpy but I didn't care. (its not like I'm moving in)
A parking space can be hard to find at the end of the day and you cannot park in the street, though there's additional parking around the opposite side of the pool.
I cant comment on the pool cause we didn't use it, the day we arrived it was cold. Plus mgmt said there was broken glass in it though it was cleaned the very next day. I didn't bother going into the cesspool of yuck aka hot tub.
The continental breakfast was a nice touch - orange juice, coffee, apples, instant oatmeal, milk & donuts. Served from 8-10am.

Nice little quiet hotel. I'm not one to spend mega $$ on a room, though I don't want to stay at the rat motel. This place is perfect.

Man at the front desk was helpful & friendly.
Don't forget to check out all of the special offers in the lobby for coupons and such.

Oh forgot to mention that there's a taqueria across the street, I didn't want to test it out though.

This is a four star review, but not a four star hotel. It is simple, clean, reasonably priced, and with a great location. Short, easy walk to the Heavenly gondola, the casinos, a number of ski shops, and many bars and restaurants. It is tough to beat.

I'm sure the rooms and amenities at the larger, but name hotels are superior, but the price probably isn't worth it. The nicely sized fridge and microwave in the room served out in room dining needs nicely, and the hot tub hit the spot.

Great deal for those skiing at Heavenly.

A typical small south tahoe hotel.

Pros:

Seriously under a block from heavenly's main entrance.
Gave free room upgrade when they found out it was our anniversary.

Let's pause a moment to talk about this room.  It is seriously a porn stars dream.  The main room was what one might expect - a king bed, attached bathroom, that sort of thing.  But across from the bathroom was another largish room.  It was completely empty except for a tv and a ugly rose colored hot tub.  Half the walls were covered in mirrors.  We used the hell out of that thing but it really looked like it was straight out of a very low budget 1970s porn.  (room 133)

Cons:

They've got hot water issues.  The first problem is that they've got the hot water set way low.  I'll admit I like my water hotter than most but all the way hot still was too cold.  Adding to this annoyance is the fact that the hot water temp changes wildly depending on how many people are using the water.  When all the skiiers return at the same time this really sucks.

The maid scolded us for being in the room past 11 even though we had a late check out.  She told us we had to be out by noon even though the front desk said 1.

It took us half an hour to check in.  I thought my partner might kill someone.  (the guy at the front desk loves fishermans warf, kittens, good food, hates his job, and the owner lives in orange county.  I'm sure you care about all that...cause that guy sure thought I did!).

But whatever - they upgraded us and it was close to the slopes.  I really would have liked hot water though...

I found this hotel while trying to find a reasonably priced place for the holiday weekend.  Over $200/night for Harrah's or Harvey's down the road was a bit too much for me (I literally laughed when the lady on the phone told me their daily rate).

Blue Lake Inn is right across the street from the Heavenly shops and gondola and close by to the casinos, eateries, ski shops, and grocery stores.  Everything you need is within walking distance!   You can keep your car parked at the property and just take your gear up to Heavenly via the gondola too.  That is definitely the way to go!  Even though I love Northstar on the other side of the lake, just the fact I can just walk to the lifts and be up on the slopes in no time, is enough to make me change my preference.

The rooms are clean, spacious, and comfortable, and there's free continental breakfast.  The staff is friendly too.

I have stayed at the Blue Lake Inn on several occasions. Part the reason is that I am a creature of habit and once I find something that works I stay with it.  Helps me avoid the woulda shouldas.

Once you pull into the Blue Lake Inn on a Friday evening you can park the car for the rest of the weekend.  The Heavenly Gondola is an easy walk.  There are several ski shops in the area and grocery store a cross the street.  Heavenly Village surrounds the gondola is there are many night life and eating options.

The casinos on the Nevada side are an easy walk.  The bored local kids handing out out in front made me laugh.

Since I am in Tahoe to ski and not hang out in the room there are no real issues here.  The rooms are clean and there is a free continental breakfast.  The staff is friendly.

There are cheaper places in the area but I was afraid to try them.

I just came home from a weekend trip in Tahoe. My BF and I stayed at the Blue Lake Inn.  If I were judging on location alone I would give this place 5 Stars. Upon arriving at the Inn we went to check in. The man who "helped" us seemed very stressed and not very confident in his ability to check us in. He could improve his customer service. We actually felt bad--like we had inconvenienced the poor man.

For the condition it was in the room was fairly clean. They need to remodel the bathrooms and sink areas. The caulking around the shower was poorly done and had yellowed (Ew).  The furniture looked new-ish (maybe they are slowly making upgrades?).  Oh, and NO BLOW DRYERS in the rooms!?!? There was a line for the breakfast Saturday morning. Coffee was good and they had apples, bananas, oatmeal and various dry looking pastries.

For what you pay, its a pretty good deal. Location, location, location!

A simple hotel in a great location, right by the gondola.  Minus one star for the heater that made the room too hot or too cold.  Minus another star for the green jacuzzi.  One bonus star for having a fridge and microwave in the room.

I love this hotel. I have stayed with them multiple times - they are super polite, always clean, incredibly  cheap (especially on weekdays) and within walking distance of everything you could want (except sprouts.) free internet, nice pool, good continental breakfast, and even a few hidden in-room jacuzzis. highly recommended.
