Blue Heron Restaurant
3 reviews for Blue Heron Restaurant
Atmosphere here is out of this world. It's a converted classic New England town hall, complete with an upstairs stage, high tin ceilings, and enormous windows into a fantastic upscale restaurant.
It's been a few years since going here, and forget what I ate, but remember that it was just fantastic. More helpful review upcoming if and when I can afford it again.
In the meantime, go!
Just had dinner last night. I had a great Caesar salad with salmon. The portions were a little smaller than I had hoped. The drinks were great and the atmosphere is refreshing and comfortable. We sat downstairs, close to a window. In the future, I would request a seat upstairs for a more authentic experience. Since it's the old town hall, the meeting room, complete with stage is really cool!
I eat here every few months, most recently last night. The bartender mixes good cocktails, both traditional (Manhattans with Sazerac) and unconventional. The menu ranges from steaks and fish to pappardelle with bolognese sauce and vegetarian chile rellenos. A short but good wine list has several nice choices by the glass. Last night I had grilled ribeye with a red wine-mushroom reduction; my wife had braised rabbit with ricotta gnocchi and cabbage. Both were excellent. Live jazz Fridays from 6 to 10. Figure $40-80 per person unless you go for the hamburger or the sandwich of the day. Reservations essential on the weekend; I like a table in the lounge area next to the fireplace.
