    OOoooh-LA-LA!

My mom dragged me in here one afternoon while she was visiting the city and I am so glad that she did, at the dismay of my waistline...

They have chocolate EVERYTHING. Chocolate iPods, Port-filled chocolate bottles... it's like my childhood dream in air-conditioned glory! Candy bouquets, wall-to-wall of confection and sugar galore...

If you like chocolate stop reading reviews, catch the next streetcar, taxi, ride, (whatever) to this place.

This is a nifty boutique chocolate store that has some very interesting and often local themed confections.  This is a great place to get a tasty gift for those who love all things chocolate.  I personally ate about 100 pieces of their chocolate this past Christmas so I might possibly have sampled almost every "flavor" of chocolate that they offer (including the blue frog... yes they really have a blue frog chocolate).  Every time I've visited this store they seem to have something new and interesting so it is always a great place to check out.

Blue Frogs, how you have been on the top of my list during my pregnancy and my crazy cravings. From frozen hot chocolates, to chocolate dipped zaps, to blue chocolate frogs that turned your mouth blue.. Every chocolate lovers dream and more. They also have great gifts, stocking stuffers, original and local items available. Also, don't forget to try a frozen hot chocolate when you stop by.

Someone brought a cellophane baggie of Blue Frog's Cajun Chocolate Bites to work.

After the first bite, I was hooked.

The chocolate bites are larger than an M&M and more rounded than a Smarties.

These bites are spicy on impact, but don't leave you watery-eyed. The spiciness helps bring out the amazing flavor of the dark chocolate. These aren't the type of chocolate that only burns as it goes down the throat, making you cough. These are smooth and delicious.

Palmface moment: I can't believe I was in NOLA over new year's and didn't know 1) Blue Frog was there, or that 2) it had been selected as best chocolate shop in NOLA for several years running.

For Easter this year, I wanted to create a cute basket for a special someone. It took me a while to figure out where to go exactly. I even went to Godiva chocolates first at Lakeside but didn't like what they had to offer. Then, like a lightbulb went off in my head and I remembered this place and took a trip uptown. I'm glad I did.

This special someone has a thing for dark chocolate... very very dark yucky chocolate lol. Blue Frogs had a whole section on dark chocolate. I think I took one or two pieces of each... and almost bought all their dark chocolate! They were very helpful in helping me pick out stuff and giving me ideas.

They have almost every shape chocolate you can imagine. From airplanes to fleur de lis to animals and even naughty shapes hee hee.

It's a great place to check out!

This is totally every kid's dream come true (and foodie's).
So I figured that since this is  total tourist trap outside of the Quarter, the help has got to be super friendly? Well there were 3 people working there, and the other 2 were SUPER DUPER friendly, and I got the crabby lady (who was probably the owner). I think she was frustrated that I was a little camera happy before placing my order............
anyways, the prices are up there, but the ganaches I took home were amazing! And presentation was so beautiful! check out my pics for this place!
and their motto was: life is short. eat dessert first.
i'm totally going to adopt that!

Cute candy shop in the FAR end of Magazine street (as far as this tourist goes) across the street from Whole Foods.  Known for their chocolates, especially the blue frog chocolates, this shop is filled to the brim withe very sugary and chocolatey confection you can imagine.  The salted caramel was delicious as was the bananas foster chocolate.  Haven't eaten my blue frog yet - he's too cute to eat (just yet).

MMMMM... they have dark chocolate covered candied orange peel by the pound.  Really I could just stop there and be done.  But they also have fun gift items, a variety of jelly bellys, sugar free items and are super nice.

They do wonderful gift baskets for showers or corporate events.

Blue Frog makes me happy!!!  This chocolatier is set in a shotgun on Magazine between Nashville and Arabella, right across the street from Whole Foods.  They have a great selection of chocolates of course, but I most often go in just for frozen hot chocolate (dark) and dark nonpereils.  The staff is very welcoming and helpful.  I only wish they had room to sit and enjoy my chocolate drink in the cute atmosphere.

The Peanut Butter Crunch (aka Uptown Trash) is my favorite thing to snack on here. Very good gourment chocolates, I like to order from the counter instead of the pre-packaged stuff (which is very good by the way). I also think the PB&J chocolate is just grand. I haven't had a bad experience yet and would say it's a must stop if you're slumming on Magazine.  Be careful though, you can run up your ticket in a heart beat if your eyes rule your stomach!

It's great to say that we have a local chocolatiere.  There is a great selection here and they are delicious.  She also carries packaged chocolate gifts.  You can always just request to mix and match of the freshly mades from the glass.
