Great Place.

Even though my brother prefers the Greenville location and my best friend prefers the tollway location, I live 5 minutes from this one! Location, Location, Location.

Not as busy as the other locations, however service is top-notch and the sushi is excellent. I don't think it's as good at Yutaka, TeiTei or Nobu, but dam close!

Happy Hour and the $2 Kirin is nice and they show the Cowboy game at the bar on Sundays. Nice atmosphere compared to a loud sports bar.

I recommend the ahi-tower, my wife loves the summer rolls and the uni and toro are always fresh!

Great laid back atmosphere... fresh sushi.... great service!

Started off with a bottle of lychee sake. It was delicious. We ordered an assortment of rolls and sushi. It was fun to sit at the bar and watch them make it. I even picked up a few sushi making tips from the chef. They're really generous on the wasabi for the sushi but I really like it. Can't wait to come back next time I'm in the mood for sushi.

I dig Blue Fish, but I can never really tell if it is supposed to be a dance club or a sushi restaurant.  Maybe it doesn't need to be one or the other.  Maybe the fact that it's both is what lures in fake boobs from all over the Valley Ranch area.  Either way, the sushi is pretty solid.

The last time I went here was particularly memorable because of the deal I made with my wife to eat a giant glob of wasabi in exchange for a 10 minute back massage.  Not only did I get a killer massage, I cleared out my sinuses and overcame my fear of crying in public.  It honestly wasn't too bad though, just don't tell my wife in case I decide it's worth it to do this deal again.

I'm going to preface with my comments on the food by stating that I'm all about the rolls.  If you're looking for a review of sashimi you'll have to look elsewhere.  My favorite rolls are the California (yes, I know it's not original but you can't argue with delicious), Philadelphia and Spicy Tuna.  Every once in a while when I feel like dropping some coin I'll get a few specialty rolls or an Ahi Tower.  Really everything I've had here has been good, not to mention those awesome puffed mints they have waiting for you on the way out.

I'm not a big fan of dancing, so I mainly come here to mock the pieces of work while I stuff my face with seaweed and raw fish.  I would recommend you come to do the same.

Originally heard about this from a billboard.  The creative was compelling so I took a chance. Never regret.  This is one of the better sushi places to visit. Always a vibrant crowd. Good mixture of social and business lunches. Bar seems to always have some action and the night life seems good.

The ahi tower is a fan favorite as well as the Chilean sea bass. A must for every visit. I think their rolls are always great and service is above average. Attentive. No complaints.

I visit about once a month to get my sushi fix.

YUMMY!!!!  ~ Need I say more???

The atmosphere is very nice. It's spacious and open with great lighting. A few of us came here for lunch and it was a great choice. I was craving for good sushi!

We were one of the first people to be seated since we walked in right when they opened. But the tables were quickly filled. The people there were very nice and helpful. It's a great place for friends to meet up. They also have lunch specials so inquire within.

The waitor was very kind and had our orders right the first time around. He checked on a us a few times during our meal to make sure everything was ok. =)

I ordered the Samurai roll. It was simple, yet tasteful. I also tried a bite of the Hawaiian roll. That too was good. My friends ordered the potstickers, Julie's roll, and the grilled salmon bento box. Everyone seemed to like their food. The presentation of their food is artistic.. so pretty you don't want to touch it, but will definitely eat it!

Anyhow, this place is worth coming back to. There's so many other rolls and sashimi I have yet to try.

Blue Fish offers a nice atmosphere and convenient location, but the sushi was sub-par at best.  The sashimi lacked flavor.  The nigiri was falling apart.  The spicy tuna roll, a standard staple, was soft and mushy.  At least they did not mess up the wasabi and ginger.  Judging from the other reviews, this may have been a bad night.

Blue Fish is a great place to go to with friends.
The atmosphere is a lot of fun and its got a dj playiing some sweet beats. There is a DJ i believe in all the Blue Fish restaurants.

They have pretty awesome sushi there at $4-6 dollars a roll.
They have the usual kinds like California or Spider but they have some crazy ones like the Cuban roll - it personally tastes like an asian spring roll. Besides sushi, the restaurant offers other dishes as well. The dinner prices range anywhere from $15 and higher. Its best to split with a friend.

The bar is slightly separated from the restaurant and its closer to the DJ. They have good bartenders that are super nice. But don't get any of their special restaurant martinis. They get pretty ridiculous in price. I paid about $8 for a red martini drink that i don't remember the name of. If you're willing to shell out the price for that, then by all means go for it.

Good place overall. It's definitely a good girls night out spot or a birthday get together place.

I love Blue Fish, particular the lunch 2 for 1 sushi deal. I lived in Japan for many years and my wife is Japanese, and we both love that place. The lunch sushi 2 fo1 deal is unbeatable. The sushi quality is as good as it gets in Dallas (SushiSake used to be better before they moved and got larger), and the 2 for 1 deals makes it very competitve. They also have a great selection of other Japanese non-sushi dishes (Tempura, Tonkatsu, Unaju, to name just a few). The atmosphere is ok but not great. The service is usually very prompt and friendly. I used to go mostly to the Greenville location, but I found that the sushi quality is slightly better (with more attention to detail) at the irving locaiton.

Addendum:
I recently went there for the first time for dinner and was disappointed. Not only did I pay more for the sushi (no 2 for 1 deal for dinner), the sushi quality was not as good as during lunch time. In addition, most of  the other non-sushi Japanese dishes (Tonkatsu, Unaju, etc.) are not available at dinner time.

In a nutshell, this is a great lunch place and a mediocre dinner place.

$1 Sake On Thursdays is a very dangerous thing...
My friends and I were supposed to go for happy hour after work.... We get off at 4 and headed down to Blue Fish.. turns out they don't Open Until 5 for Dinner..

Beautiful Weather Outside so we decide to get a couple of Margaritas next door at Taco Diner and sit in the Patio while Blue Fish opens...

5 O'clock comes we head down, order a Pink Samurai Martini and a Big bottle of Sake.. guess I can spend $2 on the big one and not have to keep refilling..
Next thing you know.. I've had two Martini's and Too much Sake. It wouldn't of been so bad If I would have had some of their Delicious Sushi..
Let's just say I Went to the Mavericks Game that Night and I dont remember the Second Half... "GOOD TIMES"..
Cant wait to go Back.. Next time I'll make sure to Order Sushi to go with My Sake!!!!!!!!

Awesome quality of the sushi here. I had the salmon sushi and a texas. The salmon was amazing. The texas roll was good but a little weird combination but that's my own fault for ordering it.

Their lunch special is pretty good, if you order any drink besides water, you get 2 orders for every 1 order of sushi. That's a good deal.

The service was quite good as well but what's up with just having light soy sauce on the table and having to ask for the real deal?

Ate there during lunch from work. I'm not a sushi buff by any stretch of the imagination, but I have eaten at quite a few sushi places.

I had the beef terriyaki. It came with a california roll, tempura assortment, salad, and an orange. The salad and california roll were both delicious. Possible the best I've ever had. The beef teriyaki was good, but not great. It would have probably been better if the beef was a better cut of meat.

Overall, I really recommend this place and will hit it up again.

The Good:
:: it's one of the more interesting options in the business-focused Las Colinas/Irving area
:: the service was really good and attentive
:: drinks are good and balanced
:: $1 sake thursdays. the hot sake is actually good! a definite steal.
:: the sushi. try the salmon, eel, masago, and albacore sushi
:: large spacious sushi bar. plenty of spaces to sit! i would recommend this instead of sitting at a table
:: appetizers. for example, try the popcorn tempura. delicious!
:: rolls. they are very affordably priced and filling and tasty. if you are a roll freak, this place's huge selection of rolls will make you happy.

The Bad:
 :: sashimi is overpriced
:: beef on a hot rock...it wasn't a rock first of all, which was disappointing. the beef itself was good, but the sauce it came with was not exciting, and the "rock" to cook the beef on didn't stay hot long enough at all.
:: overall ambiance is jacked. how? why? continue reading...

The Ugly:
:: the over-the-top trendy attempts. seriously? no. not working at all. wow. no.
:: disco ball above the entrance area??! gaudy trendy club-like lighting??! did an 18 year old design this place's interior???
:: the non-stop shitty club music that seems to be pervasive in dallas. i'm at a sushi bar. don't play nonstop club music b/c it's not night at the roxbury.
:: the choder and hootch factor. this place really knows how to pack them in. to put a positive spin on this place, it does make for good/amusing people watching!

Would I go back? Definitely not.  Dallas is a big city with lots of sushi options, and I simply wasn't impressed with the overall experience here to make a return effort. Coming here reminded me of why I am glad I left Dallas and never looked back.

This place is OUT.

Pleasantly surprised. I would say that the quality of fish at this restaurant is on par with any above average sushi restaurant in San Francisco.

They have an awesome lunch special - 2 for one - which makes it worth it.

Ahi tower was good. There was a lot of creamy texture in the crab which I think took a bit away from the crab flavor, but the ahi itself was of a good quality and the dish held together well.

Nigiri for the most part was quite good. I even ordered the Uni, to which I really enjoyed.

Service ... our server was very attentive. She needs a little coaching on how to become a more subtle server. Maybe it's just what I'm used to. We did however walk in maybe 20 minutes before they were going to close and she was very friendly even though it meant we were going to make her work another hour.

Good deal. Look forward to going again.

A very nice Japanese restaurant, well decorated, with nice hostess.
This place has all it needs from ambiance to accomodate a nice little group of guests.

I like the service as the waiter was very attentif to my table during my business meeting. He was paying attention to our table and not making it look like he's trying hard to sell.

I will recommedn this place for those visiting Texas to try this place out especially on a sunday evening as there are not many people going there except business people.

Definitely a 4 star for this place.

This Dallas sushi joint's suburban location serves up quality fish despite being in a strip mall that you can see from the John Carpenter Highway (114).

For starters you should skip the seaweed salad, as it is run-of-the-mill, and instead choose the house salad with ginger dressing.  It's actually got ingredients other than iceberg and tomatoes.  Shaved onion and carrots top the bed are accompanied by cucumbers.

The only sushi I've tried has been the sake (fresh salmon) as the piece prices are a bit higher that I'm used to (since I'm from Houston). The salmon was well cut - ample and supple (tee hee) - and very fresh.

Blue Fish's special rolls are just that without trying to do much, e.g. pineapple, starfish, tempura fried and topped with cheese.  We did try the Lava Roll (six pieces) which was lightly tempuraed but not greasy; the frying actually lent a delicate air to the food.  The Fire Cracker (eight pieces) popped up to above average but was still a bit forgettable.

The staple rolls we tried were outstanding.  The Spider Roll (five pieces) was the best I've ever eaten.  The soft-shell crab was lightly fried, which meant the crab meat was tasty and flaky not tasting like it just been imported from Long John Silver's.  Shortly after finishing the Spider, eight pieces of heaven arrived in rainbow fashion.  I'm a sucker for any roll with the crab salad mix in the middle.  But, the key a good rainbow is fresh fish on top.  This one delivered.

Overall, this Blue Fish location delivered quality sushi in a slightly swanky atmosphere that helped you forget you're in the land of cookie cutter apartments and strip malls.  It is easily the best "Dallas" sushi joint I've tried on this side of 635 and is worth a shot if you need to get your fish fix.

Three words:  $1 Sake Thursdays.

Amidst the fierce storm that rocked Fort Worth moving eastward and well above Irving, I decided to drive to Blue Fish to check out the hype behind their Thursday sake special.

I expected the place to be somewhat empty because of the storm but boy was I wrong.  There were no open bar stools and people were standing around the bar.

As you walk in, you will immediately enter the bar area.  DJ was doin' his thang at one end of the bar and the place started getting filled up fairly quickly.

$1 sake is good but the larger bottle for $2 is more worth your money.  Warm sake is a hallmark of Japanese spirit but I guess Blue Fish like their sake HOT.  I mean REALLY HOT.  It almost burned my throat.  But don't let that bother you because it's actually nice to sip on sake that stays warm from beginning to end.  Pour yourself a shot.  Take your time enjoying it.  I certainly did.

The dining area was well separated from the loud bar and it's a nice, bright, open area where you can enjoy their sushi.  I would definitely try their food next time.

And I'll definitely go there on Thursdays.  $4 will get you in a pretty damn good for the rest of the night and it's a great place to mingle with people.

I spent 9 months in Texas craving some great sushi and this place serves it up!  You get better value for your dollar here than the crazy expensive "Steel" Sushi in downtown Texas.

We used to go here every week using our expense accounts.  If you have a big group ask for the "Sushi Boat".  They have several wooden toy boats that the chef loads up with various sashimi/sushi combos that you can cater to the sushi preferences (and size) of your eating group.

The sushi is fast, fresh and delicious.  However, don't expect any delicacies like quail egg or uni, but they do the basic sashimi/sushi/rolls well.

Mon-Thurs. this place is packed with the business traveller clientele from the Las Colinas office buildings.  Thursdays have a great happy hour.  Atmosphere is delectable enough for a casual date and office dinner.

After 9 mos, they all started to know our names and we got free Blue Fish Sushi socks.  Socks, random, yea I know.  I heart Blue Fish!

This is one of the better sushi places in the Las Colinas / Valley Ranch area of Irving.  Their sashimi is incredibly fresh and their salads are good too.  They treat each table as a valued customer no matter the size.  I have been here when we had a group of 10-12 people as well as just meeting up a friend for lunch.  The entire feel of the restaurant coincides with a contemporary neo-Japanese motif that is sure to excite the senses along with the music.  I still have yet to be disappointed by any of the food that I have ordered.  This is a great place to try a little bit of everything and split dishes with friends.  Also, the sake comes out warmer than normal so if you are a moderate to slow drinker, don't worry cause it'll stay warm until you need that extra boost of confidence.

Been to Blue Fish several times but this was my first visit to this location.

Food was good.  Bit more expensive than other sushi joints but you also pay extra for the ambiance.  The place can get a bit noisy so it's not the bext place for conversations.

Why only 2-stars?  The waitress was just horrible.  She basically kicked our gorup out of the table since we were her last table and she wantd to go home early.  It's not like we weren't ordering anything.  The total tab was close to $250 (including 20% tip which ws already added to the bill.)  I'd have tipped her 10% for her horrible service so I guess she lucked out thanks to the "gratuity will be included for parties fo 6 or more....."

I love this place.  I do.  We come here every once in awhile and brave the weekend bar rush with the live DJ and the thumping music.   It's a lot of fun and the wait is never very long.  Definitely one of the sushi hotspots on Friday night in Dallas.

The sushi is amazing.  We usually always start with the Ahi Tower ($14), which is a pretty popular dish that has appeared in numerous sushi restaurants all over, but it's best here.  Layers of tuna, avocado, imitation crab and sushi rice are stacked perfectly on top of each other. You mix them all up before eating.  We always order the Yellowtail Heaven ($15), which is a dish with thin, delicate slices of yellowtail tuna topped with a slice of raw jalapeno and some Sriracha chili sauce.  We almost always order a few of the same specialty rolls as well.  My personal favorite is the Sundae Roll ($13), which has Tempura Shrimp, cream cheese, crabmeat, and some Sriracha chili sauce.  We also love the Tiger's Eye ($13), which is another roll with Tempura Shrimp.  It also has cucumber, avocado, eel sauce and a dash of cayenne pepper.  On top, is some baked eel - DELICIOUS!  If you love Nigiri Sushi (rice with fish on top), order the White Tuna Sushi ($5.50).  Of course, the best Nigiri sushi is the Super Toro (fatty tuna) Sushi ($22)!!  It's a giant piece of tuna on rice that will melt in your mouth like butter.  Soooo good.  I would probably go somewhere else for dessert though.  We ordered the Tempura Ice Cream  ($6), which is a large scoop of cinnamon ice cream that's got a layer of Tempura around it and some syrup.  The ice cream tastes fine, but the tempura was not cripsy after being exposed to the ice cream.  It turned out to be chewy and soggy.  Not great.

If you want some sake, I recommend the unfiltered sake ($20)!  Its chilled and looks a little like some man-juice, but it's delicious and sooo much better than the hot sake.

Service is pretty good.  The waitress was attentive and quick and the manager would come by and help out with drinks and stuff occasionally.  Now, let me offer this disclaimer though:  This is not a great place for large groups.  I've been here with 10-20 people before and the restaurant is adamant about not being able to do separate checks.  They also have a tendency to mix orders.  We will ask for multiple sushi order sheets, but they will put everyone's rolls on the same plate and you're gonna have to remember who ordered what and figure it out.  Having said that - the service is excellent if it's just a couple of people.

Don't take your kids here during the weekend!  For the love of God, there's a DJ playing loud, thumping hip hop music.  There are 20 people drinking and flirting at the bar.  And it's very dim.  Why would you bring your crying baby or toddler to this restaurant?  I saw at least 3 couples that brought their kids and they were wreaking havoc.  Boo.  This is a modern, sexy, trendy restaurant.  Keep it to just adults, please.

All in all, a great sushi hotspot and very fun place to be on Friday night!

The blue fish is one of my favorite sushi places in Dallas.  Granted - the selection is a little slim 'round these parts. *(:=

Instead of a small intimate Japanese place, this place feels more like a neomodern.. almost club-like in decor (it is a little dark and very open with a huge ceiling like a warehouse sort of).  But it is NOT club-like in atmosphere.  Music doesn't thump you out of your seat - it is very pleasant.  The bar out front is fun - very dark.  The sushi bar is long and the seating is ample.

The food is surprisingly tasty and fresh.  Even though we're basically in Dallas, it isn't just flash (heh) - this place delivers.  My review is a little slim on maki - I enjoy sashimi and nigiri moreso than rolls.  But the ones we had were well-made and in relatively interesting combinations.

This place might not get 5 stars in LA, but it's a 5 for a Dallas sushi joint.

this place is a hell!!!! the blue fish sucks!!!!
they don't deserve any star at all!!!!
don't be fooled by over priced fake japanese food!!!!

they discriminate asian people knowing that they're an asian restaurant! the moment i stepped into this place the servers looked at me from head to toe, looking at me like i don't have any money to pay for the fake sushi that they serve.
after 45 mins waiting for my order, the manager and the server came up to me and said that they haven't cook my order since they made a mistake on their outdated menu. just to compensate for their mistake they're willing to cook the food as long as i pay them extra.

i walked out of this horrible place and will never ever go back again!!!!

It took me a while to warm up to this place- I prefer my sushi houses small and intimate- but their consistent good food won me over.  Blue fish sets up a very club-like atmosphere, especially in the bar.  On weekend days, a dj plays in the bar, though the dining area is removed from those distractions.

They have a large sake selection, great rolls, and fresh sushi.  As Meredith said in her review of another Blue Fish location, their Ahi Tower is out of this world.  I

I usually spend a lot of money here, but it's always worth it.  Their original rolls are excellent, especially the cherry roll and the russian roll.  The Ahi Tower is so good too, but it won't fill you up so just be prepared to order something else.  The raw pieces of sushi are much bigger at Blue Fish than at other places.  If you're at the bar, try the apple puckers.  Great shots if you can handle the warmth.  I haven't tried the Hibachi menu yet, but the sushi is great and the atmosphere is solid.  I also hear the Irving location is a great place to pick up cougars.

Food was reasonably good. Salmon Sashimi was great. They melted in my mouth. One of the best Salmon sashimi I've had. Toro on the other hand wasn't. Was pretty disappointed given that they were charging $20+ for the sushi (2 piece). I've had a lot better Toro at other restaurants.

Service was below par. Waitress seemed to be completely out. She didn't bother bring bringing glass for the beer and seemed  she wanted to go to home.

It's too bad that service ruins good restaurants.
