Blue Diamond has moved from the Marina to Westchester (I just submitted an address change to Yelp) !!! New address is 8622 S. Sepulveda blvd, Westchester (just north of LAX)
I love this spa and have followed them from MDR to their new location.
Their new location can be a little hard to find (it's in the same shopping area as a Staples) and isnt as fancy looking of a building on the outside, but is cute, modern, and extremely clean on the inside.
Prices are super reasonable for the quality of treatment and service you receive.
Plus their facials are the best EVER. Well, to be specific, Ms Sarah Sanchez  is the best aesthetician I've ever had. She always knows just what products to use to calm my face down, bring out my glow, and smooth complexion. She also gives the greatest neck/shoulder rubs while you wait for your mask to set.
Go see Sara for your waxes & facials. You won't be disappointed....

This review is primarily for waxing:

Sarah is the best. Really, though. Best wax I've ever had. She's so nice, works very fast and is so thorough. Definitely make an appointment with her if you need a wax.

I had another esthetician work on me another visit and I wasn't impressed. Really slow, kind of boring to talk to and she missed a lot of hairs.

They charged the same for my service which was about $50 when I booked though LifeBooker (recommended for discounts), otherwise it seems way overpriced especially when some waxes are better than others. Lesson learned: book with Sarah only!

Aside from their services, the spa is nice but it's not glamorous, or as posh as what you'd expect a spa in the Marina to be. Pretty decent upkeep and they have a great selection of dermatologica products (maybe you'll even get a free sample after your service!) The vibes here are good overall, and it's usually pretty quiet. The staff is friendly all around and I've experienced great customer service.

I totally second Eileen R.'s review. Dexter was AWESOME!

I had a Groupon to use here and just went recently and was BLOWN away. One of the best massages I have ever received - EVER.

It was somewhat difficult to make a reservation. They don't often actually pick up the phone so we were constantly calling back and forth, playing phone tag. And more then a few times I never received a call back. Finally made an apt for both my husband and I to get massages and we were set.

Upon arrival, I was nervous about the quality of the place. There were 3 employees at the front desk just chatting while we checked in and waiting and it was very unprofessional. Plus, the place isn't very sound proof, so during the massage, I could hear the phone, people talking, etc.

However, the second Dexter started the massage I was in heaven. He is fantastic - super friendly, informative, and so great at his job. My husband agreed that he had one of the best massages of his life. Even though we live about 30 min away, we'll be back for sure.

My friend & I both purchased Groupon for the one-hour stress-reduction massage/or facial and finally used it over the weekend.
We got our appointment weeks in advance so I am not sure how hard it is to get spots here or how much in advance you need to book.
For easy locating, this spa is located in the Gelsons shopping center on Maxella above Gap under the name of The Body Clinic or so. Also, the parking is free, which is always a plus!

This place wasn't a fancy spa, but clean with a good feeling.
We got there early so we had to wait for a while, but the staffs are extremely friendly & helpful that I felt really comfortable.
Actually, my friend went in first & I was paired with a guy masseur who looked very nice! But after learning that 'not speaking up' during Spa could result in a very uncomfortable session + weeks of pain, I did ask them for a woman masseuse who I will be more comfortable with... I felt bad but he didn't take it badly at all, was super friendly, and receptionist tried to find me a lady! Since no one was available, they offered acupuncture service instead (which I kindly declined as I have my own acupuncturist), so my friend who had no preference had to switch with me! (Thanks, Diane!)

After a bit of trouble, I got my massage from Christel who was amazing! She was gentle, yet found all my tight spots & knots which felt so relaxing! ......I almost even fell asleep! The atmosphere was soothing, music was nice, and it was really a much-needed massage session, especially my stress level was 3~4 out of 4 max....Yup, it's been stressful at work!

Overall, although somewhat out of the way for me, I'd be willing to visit this place again as I am planning on purchasing their special package!

Went last night for a european facial. Had no probablem booking my appointment, called on a Tuesday and was able to get in on Thursday evening.  Arrived early and was greeted by Crystal who had a pleasant personality.  She told me about the event they are having on February 5th with mini facials and sales on product.  A little after 7 my esthetician came out (Diane) she led me in to the facial room.  The decor was nice & simple.  The facial was great, I would have liked a bit more extractions but I do love that the products used were DERMALOGICA.  The facial lasted 45 minutes total, a bit disappointed with that but if that was my only complaint hey can't be to bad.
Thank you Groupon for the great deals in my neighborhood, allows me access to new places in my backyard.

I was lured into the BLUE DIAMOND SPA because of their $120 Mother's Day Special. It was a serious SWITCH & BAIT. The special was supposed to include a basket filled with goodies (but only after I has my massage and facial from hell was I informed -- that they don't give out the bag of free samples any longer.

They only include a punch card with discounts for more services, I would have to return to redeem and $10 off 3 products I had to PURCHASE.

The massage I received as part of the $120 deal had me in pain for days afterward -- I read earlier reviews that mention a Dexter, but he was no where to be found.

The facial which was included -- also included an esthetetian who criticized my MANY blackheads and how "red" my skin was -- which is funny because I'm hypocritical of myself, and even I'm happy with my pore size, and the redness in my skin is not a skin condition -- it naturally gets really red after being in steam for a long time, and she used steam, while giving me the facial, which usually is a good thing the last time I had steam applied during a facial people told me I looked STUNNING. But she kept going on and on about my blackheads, and she turned off the steam, saying my face was getting really red, and so when she attempted to take out these so-called huge blackheads
she really hurt me and she criticized my skin, not having a single nice thing to say about my complexion. NOT ONE.

    I was a bit traumatized.

In addition, the masseuse that I had -- informed me I had two knots (which didn't bother me when I walked into the spa) -- but she said they needed to be worked out ... which is fine but -- NOT only did she not work out them out -- but -- the lingering pain from simply moving the knots around and pushing on them, but never actually working them out -- which I've never had a massage I paid for in my life -- have this happen -- created tension that was so intense -- later that night -- when I got home, my husband nearly made me jump when he tried to touch my back.

In addition -- the esthetician made me feel like I had the some serious skin "issues" -- and after spending so much time making me feel like I had the worst skin in the world, she picked out two Dermalogolica products that cost $50 (+) & since I didn't receive the free gift basket & had instead received a 'coupon' that gave me $10 off products at the Spa -- the bill came to $230!!!

I walked in, looking forward to an "as advertised" relaxing massage that did actually damage to my back (thank goodness, not long-term), and a facial that DIDN'T make my skin glow, and I walked out of the spa feeling worse than when I came in and I paid twice the amount I had originally planned on spending... for being tortured and what felt like -- totally ripped off!

This spa should come with a warning.

And don't ever fall for the $120 spa treatments which include a basket of spa gifts that never existed, and they didn't manage to change all the advertisements that are still all over the building.

I wish I had never walked into that Spa and spent my $230 on a REAL massage or facial.

And I can't believe I got suckered into spending twice the amount of the treatments on products that the woman who gave me the facial insisted I NEEDED... my self-esteem was so low after being under her microscopic mirror from hell... I may never get another facial again.
And I had been pretty clear, that I wanted a facial that would make my skin GLOW... and instead my skin broke out the whole next week, and I've had clear skin my ENTIRE LIFE.

I've been an avid spa goer for about two years now -- and NEVER HAVE HAD AN EXPERIENCE LIKE THIS

Last year I went to Blue Diamond twice for facials but my skin didn't get better even after the second time. It seemed like they were rushing through the extraction, etc. Though the people who work there were very nice.
I had had facials before and 2 times were always enough to make my skin perfect since I have breakout problems.
In November i found a different place in LA where I had 2 facials. And now my skin is great... finally!
I would not recommend going to Blue Diamond for a facial.

DEXTER is the BEST...hands down the BEST massage I've ever had.  He had a warm personality, and made me feel very relaxed.  I was suffering from neck pain for months before my massage.  The next day all my pain was gone.  The massage felt very good...heavenly!  I think next time I'm going to book 2 hours!!
Oh and the atmosphere is warm, soothing, relaxing. Very friendly staff as well.

Wasn't too crazy about this place. I came here on two occasions. Both occasions I wasn't too satisfied.

First I went in for a wax job. The lady who waxed me was extremely nice and did an average job, but she took WAY too long. I've been waxing for years and this time around it hurt ten times more than how it hurts usually. She was cordial but I felt like she was taking her sweet old time.

The second time I went in for a facial. Usually facials are suppose to be relaxing and rejuvenating. Unfortunately I didn't feel like it  touched either of those bases. I didn't get the result I typically get from facials. Not exactly sure why...

The prices are definitely reasonable for a spa. The staff are amicable. The venue is relaxing and very clean.

After being lured into this place by a really cute beachbag hangin in the window (a girl can never have too many of those) I made an appointment to see Anna last Saturday.  I inquired as to what type of facial she thought best for my skin (sensitive and old);  she suggested a Vitamin C treatment.  All of their skin products are either Murad or Dermalogica, so i wasn't all that worried.

As I awaited my time, I noticed huge displays of all kinds of beauty products and make-up choices, which always intimidate me.

Anna could not have been any more accommodating.  She greeted me with a soft and luxurious towel wrap and put me down on her table and went to work on my face.  OMG how friggin relaxing it was.  I never new my face was so dirty either.  She really worked on my skin and got rid of a bunch of nasty blackheads.  It was an hour of pure relaxation and pain all rolled up into one.  But the results were outstanding.  My skin was truly glowing and oh so clean.

The price was around $100 and I left a healthy tip in one of those tiny, discreet envelopes they provide.  Although I did not get to walk away with the great towel wrap, I did get the FREE beachbag that I wanted all along . . .and kewl samples too . . . a happy day for Sherri :)

    Treat yourself good.

My lovely boyfriend purchased a massage/facial package for me last V Day and his friend did the same for his gf so we got to go on a nice little girl bonding trip.  She had never had a facial before so I explained the basics... except it wasn't really like that at all.

The massage was good and relaxing.  I went for massage first, but I should have gone for facial first because it totally killed my relaxed 'buzz', which was disappointing since I am a mega lover of a good facial.  They can def involve moderate pain, but they usually use a special tool designed for efficiency and minimal pain.  This chick just used her fingers and a tissue and it HURT (not to mention, couldn't I just do that myself at home?).

In addition to the pain, the woman made comments about my skin the entire time.  Now I don't have perfect skin, but it's good enough that with a little make up, it looks pretty flawless.  However, the entire facial was wrought with "here's sun damage, here's scarring, here's..." Now I do want helpful knowledge but most facialists in my experience will shut the fuck up other than to warn for pain so you can enjoy the experience, and then at the end give you a 'skin diagnosis' and ask if you would like product recommendations.

At the end of this facial, the lady came up with an array of products and, apparently just for giggles, told me my eyebrows were too thin (they were, accidentally, but come on!).  Despite her aggressive sales pitch, I turned down the products but she insisted I make another appointment immediately.  So I did, but I gave a fake phone number. I know, totally immature, right?  But a hard sell when you've just come out of a disorienting procedure is inappropriate anyway.  I don't really feel bad about it.

That's it-- I have to Yelp about Blue Diamond Spa! The handwritten postcard from my esthetician was the last straw. I have been getting facials from Sarah for about 7 months now. When I started going to her, my face had a rough, uneven texture and was often red. Sarah has been so professional and helpful from the first appointment. I honestly felt that she cares about her clients and does what she can to help them achieve their skincare goals. On top of that, Sarah throws in little complimentary "extras" from time to time to make my experience at Blue Diamond Spa worth the extra dollars, such as parrafin wax treatments, hand and foot massages, or make-up application demos. Most recently, as I stated above, she wrote me a postcard thanking me for trusting her with my skincare needs and being a regular. With service like this, why wouldn't I be loyal?!

Besides Sarah, I have found the staff at Blue Diamond Spa to be friendly, professional, and punctual. They have definitely made my time there enjoyable and rewarding; my skin looks great!

    Pros: easy free parking, clean
Cons:  lots!  I only went here for a facial so I didn't experience any of the other offerings but for a facial I would never go back.  First, the staff was a bit unattentive (staying on the phone for a long time without acknowledging my presence, etc.).  Second, the full price of the facial is 80 and completely not worth it (I had a groupon so it was okay). The room is so teensy that the facialist can't even give you a little foot massage and she didn't do the hand/arm massage that many facialists do.  She left the light on most of the time.  She didn't tell me what product she was using unless I asked.  And, most importantly, she used an evil metal tool for extractions that hurt like hell. And I have a really high tolerance for pain.  And let me be clear here - I get about one facial a month and I've NEVER experienced pain this great.  I was worried that my face would be red and broken afterwards - which it was.  But that was not apparent right away because she covered it up with a tinted moisturizer so I couldn't tell until much later in the day when the tint wore off.  And she cut my facial short by probably 15 minutes when I looked at the clock afterwards.  Anywho - didn't find them very professional and did not enjoy the facial at all. I wouldn't pay 45 for it again, let alone 80!  they are also branching into laser and botox and other medical type treatments and try to upsell you on these things.  not a big deal but it just isn't a very professional office so i would think twice about doing injections or other "dr. office" worthy treatments here.

I came here on a Groupon for a European facial. The person who gave me the facial was not the person I was originally booked with. She barely did any extraction, but gave me a great neck and head massage which I never asked for. I think the scheduled aesthetician was doing someone else and they had a masseuse do my facial. Would not go back for facial, but they probably have good massages.

I visited this spot thanks to a Groupon offer for the one-hour stress-reduction massage and was pleasantly surprised.  It took me a while to schedule an appointment and I got a little skeptical that maybe they were giving me the runaround at first because my massage was at a discounted price (also fueled by the other Yelp reviews and Groupon responses to those reviews), but once I arrived, I was treated well by every staff member.

This place definitely isn't fancy; it's not somewhere I'd bring a friend or my mom for pampering, but it gets the job done.  My masseuse was respectful and had strong hands (but she always responded appropriately when I asked her to ease off the pressure); she yawned repeatedly during our session which was a little bothersome and forgot some special considerations (no feet) but once I reminded her, she was always quick to adjust.

I actually arrived about 10 minutes late - the spa is in a shopping complex and isn't listed on the directory (or possibly under The Body Clinic instead) but the receptionist gave me no trouble and my masseuse was actually gracious enough to extend my appointment for the full hour.

Overall, I'd be willing to visit this place again, even at full price.

Through groupon's discount, I got a really good price for a facial. I walked in my eye was caught by all the products on the shelves and was quite sure that they were going to try to sell them to me. I went in for my facial- and it was the BEST facial I ever had. I was so relaxed that I did not want to leave! And, best of all, the lady who did my facial made suggestions to continue using moisturizer and sunscreen but did not try to sell anything to me!
I have been relaxed all day! Definitely try this place!

I tried to book a massage at this spa using a voucher I purchased from a deal site.  The voucher says it is for $125 worth of services, but the spa would not honor the voucher even though they chose to put if for sale on the site.  The voucher does not expire until 12/2011.  What awful customer service.

If you're thinking you'll be getting a 'Burke Williams' kind of experience...you will be (like I was) extremely disappointed.  I went in early as I do to BW to 'enjoy the amenities' and the gal looked at me like I was crazy!  They don't have any!  No jacuzzi...no quiet room...no fruit and teas...no herbal towels...  They did have a shower...but it wasn't working!!!  There is a sauna but it's in the bathroom...the shared men's and women's bathroom!!  The actual facial was done by a great lady (that should be working at BW!) but the room was about the size of a closet.  Looks like Blue Diamond is really just a product place where they converted a couple closets into a massage and facial space for some extra income.  (btw...Dermalogica is all they use here...which is a really sublevel product line compared to the more luxurious lines you get at real spas!).  Sorry.  Definitely don't recommend.

I had an okay experience at this spa.  We came here with a groupon discount, and unfortunately I thought this was a spa with a spa.  It is not.  You just go in for your facial or massage and thats it.  Well anyways, I did like the person who did my facial. She helped me out with my skin, but it did feel like the whole time she was trying to sell me products that I really didnt need.  The minute I said something about my moisturizer she would recommend something else to buy.  Just go in saying you own everything in the murad and dermalogica line. HAHA  Then they cant really push you.  It was good, but I dont know if its worht it for me to drive an hour to marina del ray.  I would go again if i got a huge discount, and didn't have to be so pressured to buy a product!
