The first time I went here I really didn't like this place. It had just opened and it was dead inside and yet they were bumping some obnoxiously loud music. We only came because my friend knows one of the owners.
After then I really did not feel like going back but we stopped by a few more times and I became more of a fan. They fixed the problem with the music and they added a patio out back (which is really the front , since that is where you enter... by the parking lot). I have not had much of the food here (except for a fried cheese ball that my friend gave me, which I liked) but my friends all seemed to enjoy some of the original menu items. I have only been here on Sundays and it has never been packed. That can be a good thing!
Over all I would give this place a 3.5. It is pretty laid back. The food is good. They keep the bathrooms clean and it has gotten a lot better than it was when it opened. I enjoy the $2 cans of PBR and having a pretty chill place to BS with friends. If you are looking to meet new people, this might not be the place... although we did have a strange encounter with 2 girls in bathing suits who seemed to be in an altered state that I will never forget.

It took a while for this place to grow on me, but with the addition of a patio and a badass menu, I'm in!
It's a small place with a mixed crowd, definitely a blue collar slant to the regulars. I've been when it's packed and had a DJ as well as when it's just got a few folks having a cold Lone Star after work (digital juke box). There are booths along the walls and room at the bar, but pretty much if you come on a busy night you'll be getting cozy with your neighbor.
Last nite we came for a few drinks while our power was out at home and decided to order a bite. I'm glad we did. The menu ranges from sandwiches and burgers (including a "sloppy jose!") to blue plate specials - think meatloaf and salisbury steak. All the sides look awesome, I had mashed potatoes and mac and cheese (carb alert!) and both were top notch.
I'm a little ashamed to admit that I also had the fried twinkie for dessert (coconut crusted, with caramel sauce and fresh strawberries!) and it was to die for! Probably not going to be a regular, but definitely if I'm in the mood for a coupla cold beers and some home cookin' - I'll be back!
One note- don't get the corn fritters, they aren't the ones that look like hush puppies on the outside with corn on the inside. I dont know what they did wrong but I took one look and decided not.

Its a dive bar, so one should not expect too much. I haven't eaten the food there yet, but I was pleasantly surprised that they serve Fat Tire in cans there.
All of their beer from the fridge is served in cans, with most of them being cheaper types of beer. But with Fat Tire being my favorite, I was happy that they had it in cans (which I have never seen before!)
In all, its a solid neighborhood bar, that is close to lots of other cool places. Parking is a little iffy, but that is par for the course for the Henderson corridor.
Well I tried to be nice on my first review as apparantly it lacked "first hand experience".....okay so let me tell you about my "first hand" experience, if you really want to know.
It is a dive bar so no, I dont expect too much from it , what I do expect however, it to be able to park in the lot that it joined to??Perhaps I missed that memo that you actually cannot use the lot its joined to, second beer...I ordered a beer, a miller light, I'm not too sure if I was charged wrong, but I dont remember the last time a miller light cost $4 - who knows maybe the bartender was new and rang it up wrong, but part of customer service is questioning when a patron gives you weird look.
But none the less still ordered food and it was very lackluster, I dont expect alot from bar food I mean how wrong can you go, but nothing was tasteful, the crowd was weird, the music was all over the place and kept cutting in and out, the bathrooms had NO TOILET PAPER and it was not even that busy. Considering the location, I expected better....oh and was not my first visit here, I went there not too long after they opened and why the beer prices were alot more resonable back then, the attitude of the management and workers seems to be the same - they stink

No more $2 beer, do not park here, parking is reserved for barcadia, park, and the slip inn(snicker). Music is kinda erratic, sort of like trying to please everybody at once. Good point,,,, I have not seen the perve manager lately, hmm maybe they got a clue and dumped him. How this place stays open I do not know..We can only hope the next tenants will make it worth our time to stop by....
First things first. Valet across the street at Barcadia, it's more convenient. You know how you ask an employee how's the food, and they say 'it's really good trust me.' Well I was surprised to find that this tiny place made real food, well....good.
I ordered meat loaf, garden salad, and mac 'n cheese. I must say that the meat loaf was not at all dry, but a tid bit salty, with plenty of sauce. The salad was small but enough and had a spring mix with fresh cut tomatoes (no slime here) and purple onions.
They proudly boast NO BUDWEISER PRODUCTS SOLD HERE if you ask for Bud Light. Okay, well I'm a beer snob anyway so gimmie some craft beer. There's about 2-3 major microbrews here. Not worth mentioning, but their thing is the throw back beers in the can. It was nice seeing all the old school beers Pearl, PBR, even Schlitz for God sake. After seeing all that, I just ordered a Heineken Light.
This night there was a live DJ there cramped into a corner against a wall, but it wasn't as loud as you'd think seeing how there was probably 5 feet between him and the bar. There's a nice sized street level patio out back and a weird privacy fenced sitting area out front.
All in all, I'd go back there if I happened to be in that area.

Usually when I go out with my friends, who are overwhelmingly of the fabulous persuasion, we focus on Oak Lawn, hitting the gay bars. So yesterday, when I heard speak of a birthday gathering at a straight bar, or just something NOT on the strip, I was pretty jazzed for a change in scenery. Blue Collar Bar? Blue Ribbon decision!
Ok, I'll stop that. I wasn't terribly impressed with Blue Collar Bar as I was hoping I might be. Nickie G is right about a couple things- just finding the front (any...) door is a bit of a challenge, and a Lonestar was 5 bucks- WAY too expensive for a basic brew.
We didn't eat, but people in the group mentioned that they'd heard the food was good, and there were definitely some enticing smells emanating from the kitchen. As far as decor and atmosphere, Blue Collar is pretty much no-frills. The seating is comfortable, and good for small groups.
The major plus of the evening was the DJ. I don't know who it was, but if Blue Collar is in your future, go on a Thursday. This guy brought the funk. Da funk, even. And it was good.

I loooove a dive bar, so I have been watching with interest as the Blue Collar bar has been preparing to open. Is this going to be a new favorite bar? The answer: not so much.
First off, the patio that is out front, or back, whatever, is located directly across the street from Barcadia. But that is not the entrance my friends, this is the backdoor and it is exit only, so go ahead and circle the place trying to find the freakin door to go into. Everyone we saw walk in did this first before entering. Just take the exit only sign off the patio and be done with it, that is stupid.
The inside is painted blue and all the seats are black...it is a pretty nice decor, but it isn't dive-y at all. It looks kind of like a lounge decor, maybe even a small dance club type thing going on. There's also a women's bathroom and a unisex bathroom. And they have one of the brand new fancy internet jukeboxes. First impression: not a dive.
Didn't try the food but heard one guy telling the cook "I am a connoisseur of burgers and this is the best one I've had in a long while." Somehow I doubt that the burger is the best one ever AND that the guy was really a connoisseur, but I did see a lot of people eating so hey, give it a try.
Right now this would be a three star review, except for what happened when we left. We had 5 cans (yes CANS) of Miller Lite since they do not have any beers on tap (and actually the waitress didn't know what "on tap" beer was. hmm.). So I ask how much the tab was and my friend puts up five fingers. Oooh 5 beers, 5 dollars! Great deal!
No, EACH can of MILLER LITE was FIVE FREAKING DOLLARS. Are you kidding me? TWENTY FIVE DOLLARS for five Miller Lites. On a MONDAY. I am not a cheap ass but daaaayyyum those were some expensive CANS of BEER. We walked to Barcadia and got three import beers (on tap) for $17...even he could not believe cans of Miller Lite would ever be $5 anywhere. That's right. Go to Slip Inn or Barcadia or Capitol Pub instead.

Came here for lunch and was pretty impressed. My friend ordered a cheeseburger on texas toast and opted for a house salad. I had the mealoaf sandwich with the tornado taters. Both came with on a cafeteria style tray except it was glass and with a side of jalapenos and pickles which were nice touches! Our sandwhiches were huge! Both served on Texas toast and both of us devoured our meal like it was no problem. My meatloaf was moist with a tangy kick to it and the grilled onions, fresh lettuce and tomato were also great. The fries had a nice garlic flavor to them and my friend loved how fresh her salad was. The service was good and the tunes were jammin on the juke box! They just built a great patio in the front and is great for people watching! Also if you come here at night to drink you can get all the old school beers like PBR, Natty Light, Schlitz, Lonestar, and The Beast! Awesome!!

Wannabe dive bar with crappy parking situation and way, way overpriced beer (unless you go for canned PBR, which is $2/can). This place is surround by bars that all have something different going for them (Barcadia, Louie's, all the places down Henderson) and didn't do anything to make me want to come back.

Came here for a crawfish boil man thats was some good ass crawfish and it was free. It was raining cats and dogs that day, wanted to hang out in there new patio but oh well. Beer was expensive but they had wells for 3$ soo we were just downing whiskey and coke. Our server was cool.. but probably will never be back to this place.
Thursday night.....not much of a crowd at 8:00pm. The food on the menu sounded good, but we didn't eat. Just there for some drinkin. Pretty nice people there, one patron bought the bar a shot. The bartender and waitress was nice. I like the seating. I'll probably go in again on another night to see if it draws a better crowd on another night.

There was an issue with a girl getting beat up and the bartender would'nt call the police. the people in there looked like gang members and the wrong side of town and they all looked like they wanted to fight. STAY AWAY - these people are a strange group!! They look like they are kind of PULP FICTION looking with ZED. remember what happened to ZED - ZEDS DEAD BABY - ZEDS DEAD - no room for violent people - close this place down tabc for serving to many drinks to idiots who cant handle it. Even the woman looked ghetto - Basically like potty mouths and Ghetto'd out girls and guys...Dont take your date here - dangerous and rude drunks
i gotta be honest with you i got here around 530ish on a fri?...ordered like 6 cans of pearl LIGHT...PEARL LIGHT FOLKS....pabst, miller, and repeat...my tab was like 10 or 15 bucks...i dont even remember...5 bucks a can?? if thats what they charge i sure as hell wouldnt come back...i guess its time for a second drive then...and i like it because its not crowded and packed...

If you want a dive, go across the street to Louie's. This place tries way too hard. It's the uptown west village crowd's idea of a dive bar.
