I just can here to join my mother. She's the gambler in the family.
I guess we went on Senior day cause it was a ton of seniors as far as the eye can see. The food at the buffet was good and tasty, I did have seconds, yum. The gambling part, eh, i had fun, blew about 200$ it was entertaining and my family enjoyed themselves. The casino its looks huge wow it is big. My only problem is they dont have many .01 penny slots.
May or may not go again since another 15mins is Four Winds and they have a ton of penny slots.

I visited this place...walked around, but did not gamble. Overall reaction = boring.  That's right.  This place found a way to make gambling not exciting.

As much as I like the idea of a casino in Michigan City-- because, what with the coal power plant that looks like a cooling tower, it helps make the town EVEN MORE like Springfield on The Simpsons--this casino is just meh.  Everybody inside is Caucasian and old.  (A previous reviewer said "30 plus" but I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it was more like "55 or 60 plus.")

The facility itself is nice and clean.  The restaurants are agressively safe and cutesy-- nothing to startle grampa.  There was a constant live band at the bar-- they were okay.  Oh, and it was well-lit...  I mean, REALLY well-lit.  I mean, TOO well lit.  Maybe they want to make sure granny can see the Pass line on the craps table, but let's just say that "everything is illuminated" inside this casino.

Most importantly: Seedy/Sexy factor = ZERO!!!  This is a casino for people whose genitals have ceased to function.  (At least without the help of Viagra and/or personal lubricants.)  And man, it shows.

I would not feel comfortable coming here to carouse, get my drink on, gamble in a lively, loud fashion, and possibly womanize.  (Which is funny, because those are EXACTLY the activities people seem to be doing in the TV commercials for Blue Chip with which we are constantly bombarded here in Chicago.)

Stopped here on our way home from Four Winds Casino. I liked Blue Chip a little bit more than the other place. Better machines, more space to move around, better lighting and stellar washrooms! They did a great job on the renovations. The hotel looks posh and swanky. Check it out if you hit up the outlet mall but don't make a special trip out here.

I came here to burn up some time and cash. I actually won 40 bucks. My complaint is when we went to the bar to get a drink. The drummer was behind a plexiglas wall? And they served all the drinks in plastic cups. WTF! I felt tlike I was in college chugging pitchers of beer. There was all kinds of food and stains on the very nice carpeting around the bar. They spent a ton of money remodeling this place just to make you feel like the swamp assed town you drove thru to get here.

We were at Blue Chip before 4 winds forced their hand on huge renovations.  Here is what I remember.  Lots of degenerate gamblers, white trash, blue hairs playing the slots, people that can't handle their liquor proving it and TONS of smoke.  It was like The Fog except no one put me out of my misery.  It just seemed that there were a lot of people here that really shouldn't be pissing away what little money they had.

The new and improved casino has a hotel and spa now. It really
reminds me of Vegas from the outside. It's really beautiful inside
and pretty spacious. Of course I would've enjoyed myself more
if I'd won some money, but I still had a nice time.
Next time, we'll try one the restaurants and hopefully win a
big jackpot!

So.  I love my in-laws.  I love any time I get with them.  They can make a funeral fun, ya know?  Fun, great, generous, lively people.  So we go because we like hanging out with them.  And we have fun.

Given that, I have to take them out of the equation and look this place hard in the face.  Um?  It's in nice shape?  I hear people win money sometimes.  But it's not big enough to have a ton of wandering-around fun in.  Smoke will give you a hangover even if you don't have a drop to drink.  And if you look a day under 50 they card you TWICE EVERY TIME you come back in from the hotel with beer in your purse.

Other things: hotel is actually quite nice, with prices to match.  Buffet is HORRIBLE, even at breakfast.  Like... wretched.  How can a piece of french toast be inedible?   They'll show you how.

If you need good food, Papa John's delivers to the hotel lobby and El Bracero has great Mexican food a few miles away.

The faux Beatles bands can be sorta fun to watch for a minute or two.

Nice view of the power plant.

this place is all kinds of ridiculous. it tries to be vegas when there's a giant nuclear reactor (i think that's what it is) right outside of town and there's no other buildings to even compare to it nearby. i hit the slot machines, won and lost $5 and left. it's a very pretty building. i still think i'd much rather go to vegas and experience the real deal before dropping any more money here.

My second time in my life visiting a casino.  Last time I was 10 with my parents, I couldn't gamble, I watched my mom play slots.  So.. lesson learned, if you are going to go, do some practice games like blackjack, roulette on the internet like yahoo games so you know the rules and payout.  I should have done some of that practice before hand, I lost some money but hit few jackpots 777 on slots earning few bucks.  This place is huge, lots of slot machines, table games, back room had VIP High roller and poker room, I didn't go in there though.  Place was packed during the weekend and free drinks when you are playing!
Okay I signed up on points program, I earned $2 from comps :)  hahaha.  I had fun here but I wouldn't come here every weekend blow away money.

Since I'm not a BIG gambler maybe I'm not the best person to write a review about this place but I figured, what the heck.  Like Izzy said the slot machines can be fun for the first couple of times but then it gets kinda boring fast.

The William B's Steakhouse located in the casino is worth every penny.  The service and staff were fabulous.   The garlic chicken pasta I had was scrumptious and the portion size was way too big for one person.  I was very surprised for a Michigan City Indiana casino.

I went with my three sister-in-laws, one of whom had just come out from Ireland and two neices.  After 4 hrs. drinking & gambling we were ready to leave & noticed my one sister in law from Ireland had suddenly disappeared.  We searched for her everywhere for over 40 minutes..........this place is HUGE !!    We finally located her in a room surrounded by 6 young guys playing texas hold'em...........WTF !!!!

If you don't mind the drive from Chicago, this is a fun place to go.

I have not stayed in the hotel, but it looks nice.  The whole property is done well.    Buffet is pretty good, have not eaten at other restaurants.

Gaming, good blackjack, reasonable minimums (sometimes $5).  have not played other games there.  Overall I like this casino a lot.

After going to Four Winds, this place is so dated, with a bad 70's look to it.  Calling it ghetto would be an insult to ghettos.

All the people I know who used to go here stopped coming here a long time ago since none of the slots were paying out.

Oh yeah, it's smack dab in the worst part of Michigan City.  Coming here is like dropping your toothbrush in the toilet.

For Indiana, I'm not surprised. Absolutely not expecting a vision of class and timeless elegance but seriously, the ICK factor is high. I can see how this place is the way it is which is... how do I say this politely...  trailer park trashy, kitschy, trapped in the 80s maybe even 70s casino in the middle of nowhere. The slot machines can be fun for the first couple of times but I'm not really a gambling kinda girl. I tagged along to drink. The bartender is cool, I asked him to surprise me and he did.. my drinks were pretty good, cheap and stiff. The crowd is older as in 30s and up. Come here when stuck in Indiana and bored outta your mind, otherwise stay in Illinois or Michigan. If you're passing by, keep passing unless you're into kitsch in a deserted and sketchy part of town.
