An excellent shop! No snobbishness, just a really great playgound of yummy-ness! Lots of cheeses, and a varied price range. Basics like roasted turkey (nitrate free!) and baguettes, along with more fun, special things like Apricot wrapped torrone and the longest bucatini you've ever seen!
Friendly lovely place.

This place has caster sugar and cake flour, two very hard to find bakers ingredients (at least in brooklyn). You can also get tasty high end sodas, fancy cheese (and free cheese consultations) and delicious cured meats.
If you are looking for a specific gourmet ingredient this place probably has it, from infused olive oils to imported pasta, Bay's english muffins (the BEST) to volcanic salts and italian candies. You will pay dearly for these fancy groceries. It will be worth it.
I was just browsing in Park Slope when my grocery visit was interrupted by a cell phone.
Mother: Hello? What? Oh my goodness!! That's wonderful!! When did she go??
The mother's 4 year old boy tugs at her shirt.
Son: Who is it? Who is it?
Mother: Hold on a second honey. How did she let you know? Oooohhhhh! Okay we're coming home soon. I love you, bye!
Son: What happened?
Mother: Your sister went poo poo in the potty! Do you want to pick out a present for her?
Son: I didn't get a present when I went poo poo in the potty.
Mother: Oh, I'm pretty sure you did. Do you think she will like this candy?
Suddenly, the chocolates I were looking at did not look like chocolates anymore. I walked in deeper at Blue Apron Fine Foods, if not to just check out what else they had, but to get away from the poo poo potty mouths.
Blue Apron has got a bunch of cool stuff. It's all special and imported. It's a little bit on the pricey side. I don't live in the area and I didn't see anything I wanted. But Blue Apron is the type of gourmet grocery store that made me imagine that I would probably stop in here and buy something for a weekend snack if I, you know, lived in one of those brownstones, had a pseudo nerd hubby, two toddlers, and a pup waiting back home for me. As soon as my kids saw me, they'd ask if I brought them back some special chocolates and I'd ask them if they left any special chocolates in the potty. Um, NOT! It was quite funny though, listening in on that family's conversation. Definitely a milestone in life and I was a part of it. Boy am I lucky.

Mmmmmorbier.... The prices are no recession special, but man is it worth every penny. It is my new life goal, in addition to running the marathon this year, to work my way through every cheese they offer in their marvelous cheese section. I am sure those two interests will not conflict, whatsoever...
ALSO if you are a fan of salty funky pungent stuff you should really have one of the shop people get you some of the salty black licorice out of the old school glass jars in the front - amazing!

My NYCBFF and I were walking around Park Slope when I spied cute little cupcakes in the window of this gourmet goods shop and I stopped us in our tracks for a detour. The store is tiny and cute, chock full fancy foods ranging from cheeses to meats to chocolates to baked goods.
I had a vanilla cupcake with chocolate frosting and an oreo cupcake. The vanilla cupcake was good, with a smooth chocolate frosting. The oreo cupcake was dry and the frosting was overly sweet.

They have meats, cheeses, olives, pastries, Jacques Torres chocos, fun softdrinks, weird pickles and nice selection of imported Cadbury and Nestle stuff that you UK/OZ/Kiwis might appreciate. (Actually, we can all appreciate an Aero or a Lion bar. ) They also have Bazzini's pistacios and handmade marshmallows.
recommend: marshmallow, raspberry pecan bar.
note: i have found on of the handpacked okra pickle brands in my local MET supermarket for 3.29 vs Blue Apron's $5 and change.
But i recognize that quality in one place comes at a price.

I love this place. It's small, cute, and the staff are friendly. Plus, the cheese selection is excellent. I've tried some amazing cheese from here and would recommend anyone check out the options.
Plus, the sandwiches rock and they have delicious and fresh ingredients.
Just go here.

I was underwhelmed by this shop in my neighborhood.
True, they have gathered many fine things together in one place. But also true that they wildly overcharge for those things and serve them up with a dose of snootiness that I could do without. If you want great cheese and meats, make the trip to Murray's Cheese Shop. The prices are substantially less there and the staff equally substantially more knowledgeable and welcoming. Or, better yet, join the Park Slope Food Coop and buy wonderful cheeses for just a few dollars.
We tried the Quiche Lorraine, which tasted nothing at all like quiche (more like a swiss cheese tart) and certainly nothing like Quiche Lorraine (I found a single piece of ham in my slice).
I was lured in by a lavender French marshmallow in the window, seduced by the Sorpressata, and bewitched by the black and white truffle oil duet and balsamic vinegar flavored with lemon and ginger.

I love the friendly guys in the back who cut the meats and cheeses. They seem to love their jobs. They have delicious deli turkey, dried meats, sausages, cornichon and cheeses. I used to get my Emmi yogurt there, but they no longer carry it. They have the best lightly salted pistachios in huge bags.
It's just a fun store with wonderful ginger cookies by the checkout and dark chocolate covered toffee like a homemade heath bar. I like the french bread but the other baked goods I don't enjoy as much. Honestly, I get most of my bread and cheese from the Grand Army Plaza Farmer's Market on Saturdays. The girls at the front register aren't jolly like the guys in the back, but they do their jobs.
I don't care for the crowds pressing in on me, or the distracted cheese kids. But who cares! Blacksticks Blue (a kind of Shropshire blue); 4 kinds of aged Gouda; Spanish, Italian and German ham; real German wieners; giant packs of spaghetti wrapped in blue paper; delicious breads and cakes and chocolates and more and more and more!
Of course it's over priced. And it's closed Mondays.
Tip: porcini bullion is so cute and so good!

I wish parents with small children would figure out it's impossible to navigate this narrow little shop with a stroller. I'm sure it's exhausting to be a parent, but it's WAY more exhausting to be constantly nagging the people around you for a little more room just so you don't have to carry the tiny one for ten minutes.
Kvetching aside, the cheese and meat and chocolate selections are not to be rivaled. Do yourself a huge favor; come here some hot day, buy some salami, some good cheese (let the guy behind the counter pick for you, he has fantastic taste), and one of their ridiculously expensive chocolate bars, grab a six-pack of beer at the liquor shop across the street, and hie ye to Prospect Park. It'll be the most blissful afternoon you've had in a long time.
They are also a good resource for any number of dainty little patisserie embellishments, like candied lavendar and rose petals, or if you're just feeling experimental in dessert-land (salt caramels? I am skeptical, but I am also intrigued.)
Also, I must refute someone else on here: cupcakes are wondrous.

I always walk past Blue Apron and think about going in for the cupcakes, which they have prominently displayed in their window. They always look very cute, and have a variety of flavors available daily. Yesterday, I finally went with my friend.
I got a "peanut butter" cupcake (chocolate cake with PB frosting) and she got a "caramel apple" cupcake (apple cake with caramel frosting). They were extremely cute and attractive and appetizing-looking cupcakes. The flavor was good, the frosting was nice, but we both found the cake's texture to be extremely dense and dry. (We did go on a Saturday evening, so maybe we didn't get the freshest cupcake ever.) We were a little disappointed!
However, the staff at Blue Apron was exceedingly friendly and cheerful. Plus, there were a lot of cool gourmet food items available. There even seemed to be a lot of food gift items that you could get. As a result, I would definitely go back to check out the other gourmet items... I just wouldn't go back for the cupcakes.

lots of hard to find imported gourmet food and chocolates, a bit on the expensive side though. they have a bit of everything, kind of like an "upscale" general store. It is here, where I first tried Pineapple chili Chocolate that came from somewhere in south america.

One of the few places in the city of NYC (not just Brooklyn) that carries such hard-to-find specialties as Jamon Serrano (Spanish version of prosciutto), Spanish blood sausage (morcilla), not to mention great selection of cheeses, condiments, pastas, oils, and locally baked breads.

I just love this store - if I worked in retail this would be my first choice.
When I want to get great cheese and honest heartfelt advice on cheese this is where I go. Guys behind the counter love their jobs and dispense great advice.
great place to go for the perfect accentuations for a party
great place to load up for a romantic picnic
great place to blow alot of money and feel good about it
The chocolate and imported prepackaged snack foods here are pretty amazing. They also have a better meat and bread selection than Bierkraft (though Union Market's bread is better). Their cheese is not as good as Bierkraft, and their lack of brewed coffee is regrettable.
I particularly recommend the "sandwich of the day" with a small bag of Walker's Marmite-flavored chips.

The red velvet cupcake in the window beckoned me into this wonderland of gourmet goodies one lazy Saturday afternoon. Lots of British snacks and candies, freshly baked bread, and a splendid selection of charcuterie and cheese. I smiled as I overheard one of the guys behind the counter say, "Hold on, I'm playing with the flavors in my mouth right now..." as he was trying to recommend cheese pairings for a customer. The four stars is based on the red velvet cupcake, which was delicious and chocolatey, but tasted more like a regular chocolate cupcake than a red velvet cupcake. Still, supercute, and if I lived in Brooklyn, would be the place I went for my Eurofood.

I got a chocolate bar here with bacon in it. Sounds disgusting right? It was delicious. It also cost about 6 dollars but it was totally worth it.

If you love cheese and olives and cured meats and fancy chocolate, then hightail it on over to this north Slope specialty foods store. They care about their cheese and will gladly offer tastes until you find exactly what it is you're looking for, and their selection of speck and prosciutto and serrano ham makes me so happy. I love pork. Narrow space - easily crowded by Slopers and their strollers so try to avoid the week-end crush.
