My TBS class (Marine Corps Officer's Basic School out of Quantico) came here to celebrate before graduation. Our group consisted of about 50 people and we made reservations to come on a Wednesday for lunch. We basically took over the entire restaurant and stayed until dinner we had so much fun...
The restaurant itself was perfect for such a large party with enough prior planning and a reservations. It was big and open, and people could easily mingle with each other. We did two sticks of the brewery tour, and everyone enjoyed that and the beer tastings. The staff was friendly and our food came out hot and was delicious. They had split checks for each individual and family. The beer was well liked and we must've went through 20+ pitchers.
For us Marines, we were stoked to see they sell really nice growlers with the EGA engraved on it you can get filled for about $50.
The tour and reservation was free, but I hoped we paid our way in drink and food. Highly recommend this place. The manger Jeff was very easy to work with and was delighted to have us.

SO I read the mixed reviews on Yelp and decided to give this place a shot. got the GROUPON deal when it was offered. Actually, got 2.
MISTAKE!
1. they were out of Fred Red ALe. WTF? it's onhe of their mainstays - how is that possible?
2. They were out of Diet coke. REALLY? how does a restaurant let this happen?
3. They were out of some of the veggies and a couple of the appetizers too.
SIGH.
We ordered an app of the pretzel-bratwurst. I am not sure how but the petzel part, while cooked ok, was hard as a rock - as in I was afraid I would chip a tooth on it! and the bratwurst was overcooked (think BLACKENED) while the same time it was ice cold inside.
DH and I ordered fish & chips - the waffle fries were actually quite good and salted just perfectly. The fish was too crisp on the ends and soggy in the middle and had absolutely NO flavor unless you coated it in the tartar sauce or malt vinegar.
Seriously - this place was SO bad, we gave our 2nd groupon to the big group at the table behind us just so we would not be tempted to go back just to use the coupon.

I was in Fredericksburg for a friends wedding over Oktoberfest, and although I didn't get to enjoy any of their beer in the pub, I did enjoy quite a bit of the beer.
These guys know what they're doing - making absolutely great beer!!!!

I really wish I could leave 2 separate reviews: one for the restaurant and one for the brewery. I'd give the brewery 5 stars. Great beer, friendly staffy, free tastings, a short but informative tour given by the owner himself. All great. The restaurant, however, was surpisingly bad. I'd only give it 2 stars. We arrive early one Saturday afternoon, and it was dead. We excitedly perused the short menu only to find out that BOTH items we wanted for lunch were out of stock. Not sure how you can be out of food right when you open. So, we decide to get some mussels. They were fine, but the 3 bites of bread that accompanied the mussels were foul. The bread was clearly stale; so stale, in fact, that I spit it out. So disappointing.
Bottom line, go for the beer and stay for the beer. Take a tour and get your growlers filled, but please eat somewhere else. -

Great brews and fantastic food, especially the "Irish Nachos" which puts an interesting twist on classic bar food. Instead of tortilla chips they use waffle fries. I was skeptical at first but it ended up tasting AMAZING. We would have definitely ordered another round if we hadn't already made dinner plans for afterwards.
Staff was friendly and helpful in finding a beer you'll like (or you can just try them all like I did) and both food and beer arrived at our table promptly. Unfortunately it's a bit of a hike from where I live so I may not be visiting again soon but if you find yourself in the area it's worth checking out. It can be a little challenging to find, but here's a tip: if you find yourself driving over train tracks, you are headed in the right direction! -

Brew pub in Fredricksburg; off the beaten path in an industrial park. Has that cool, modern industrial feel and ambience. Super friendly and young staff. Food was awesome, quick and hot. I went with my wife just for the beer and we ended up being beyong pleased with the food. I purchased a couple growlers of the stout and red ale, with the refills being only $7 - you can't go wrong. Will definitely be back, even if it is a bit of a trip.
Beer: The Stout was a HUGE hit with the friends! -

Great spot, definitely coming back. Tasty beer, the pale ale and red are delicious stomach treats. The red slides down with just a touch of a sweet hoppy aftertaste lingering. The lamb burger is a savory meat treat with just the right amount of gameyness, served on an english muffin with simple lettuce and tomato.
The service was great as well, not overly attentive, which can become annoying, but I never felt ignored. The room can be pretty loud as it fills up, so count on that being an issue. Otherwise, a great place im definitely hitting up again. -

It's a brewery, so beer lovers rejoice! The beer is excellent, the wait staff competent, and the food far above my expectations. The location leaves a bit to be desired, and one doesn't expect such a nice food and beer spot to be tucked in an industrial park, however this garners such a hole in the wall secret feel that I feel it adds to the ambiance.
We took a party of 4 to dinner at 7pm and were seated immediately. Beer was out promptly after we ordered. We ordered a pretzel app thinking we could share, but it's basically just 1 big soft pretzel twist, and not very sharable. This is probably the only complaint I had all night. We had 2 orders of fish and chips, 1 honey glazed salmon, and 1 steak. Absolutely everything was high quality, freshly made, and tastefully arranged.
A++ next time we come through and are feeling thirsty we'll be sure to stop by! -

Besides the fantastic brews, the newly opened Lee's Retreat brew pub offers some great cuisine. Highly recommended

Fiance and I spent our new year's day traveling south for a little brewery visit, and it was well worth it.
It is in an industrial park, and kind of out of the way, but it adds to the charm.
The brewery tour is quick and the brewery itself is small, but the guy who led us around (Jack) was incredibly thorough. Luckily we know a bit about beer or he would have lost us with all of the detail he shared.
We got to taste some hops (sweet like Grape Nuts) and see into a barrel. He showed us every bit of the brewing process and it was pretty awesome.
The beer was great and inexpensive so we went home with four 22-ouncers. Yum. :)
We had lunch afterward in the restaurant and it left a little to be desired, but it was all part of the atmosphere I suppose. The woodwork on the bar is actually quite beautifully done, but the tables have cheap-looking vinyl table cloths.
We tried the pretzel appetizer and it was decent. The cherry cole slaw was unexpected (I didn't remember seeing it in the description) but it was awesome! I had the fish and chips which had great presentation. They put a wasabi sauce over the pieces of fish though which makes the batter soggy. I ended up peeling all of it off of the fish. The tartar sauce has dill in it which proved to be too much for me mid-way through the meal. The waffle fries are fantastic! Fiance had the lamb burger which he found to be quite good.
**IF you're vegetarian and don't eat fish, there's 1 salad for you (unless you take off the meat from the others). Most everything is meat (besides the pretzels and mussels. Even the shrimp appetizer is wrapped in proscuitto.). I'd suggest taking the brewery tour and eating elsewhere in town if you're not down with fish/meat.
The lighting was dim to begin with (high ceilings, dark walls), and once they turned off the lights in the connecting brewery (you can see the brewing area from the dining room through large paned windows) it got really dark.
The server was nice, attentive, and got our jokes which is always a plus.
If we didn't make an effort to try new breweries and lived closer, we would probably make a return visit. It was a nice way to spend new year's day! -

Good beer. I only had the imperial stout but I loved every sip.
The woodwork in the interior bar is awesome.
After lunch we had a tour and the guys that work there are a fun crew. -

I've been here 2 times and both times it just wasn't that good. Everything was very average or below average. Nothing to write home about at all. The staff seemed really young and inexperienced for a 'brewing company'. I'm not sure the wait staff is even old enough to drink. The food was blah. Both times I went, I had free meals due to gift certificates (that were free to me) and I'm glad because I would have been disappointed to have had to pay for my meals.

This fantastic little microbrewery is worth a visit if you're in Fred-vegas to sample some delicious beer.
Their standards include an American IPA, a great Fred Red, tasty Lager, and their Stonewall Stout is also very nice. Over the year they rotate in a winter ale, a Hefeweizen, and a Chocolate Raspberry Stout.
You can also find their beers in a lot of Fburg's bars and stores.
Don't forget that beer is a food group! -

Surprisingly good food! Everything my group and I ordered was great. The mussels were excellent, as well as the BBQ and the blue cheese wings, and even the salad was good. But the steak dinner was particularly delicious. I highly recommend this place!

The Blue & Gray Brewing Co in Fredericksburg is not in an area you'd expect to find it (it's a industrial park) but don't let that fool you. It's not all that fancy (bare concrete block wall and floor) once you get inside either. But don't let this fool you. I think it 's meant to throw off those that are out for the superficial things. The beer and the food is OUTSTANDING. Don't miss it!

Went in and the food was ok, but there was a TERRIBLE smell. I'm pretty sure it was the beer brewing, but it smelled like sweaty gym socks. The food was mediocre, but ok. Not a fan of the location either - kind of run down.
