The only reason I took one star away was the service was slow. Not horribly slow but we stood waiting to be seated a couple of minutes and then they only had one server. The hostess filled our drinks a couple of times because the server was busy bringing food out for the other patrons.
The food was excellent. I originally came here because I wanted to try the pretzel bites with beer cheese, but sadly they no longer have it on the menu. My garlic Brussel sprouts were very flavorful I just wish they had served a slightly larger portion.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Feb 3, 2018
This is a good spot located in downtown Roanoke with paid parking nearby there may be street parking as well but I was not able to find it on this particular trip
It definitely has a blues bar feel to it with a great ambience and the decor to support it
For lunch we had the steak and blue salad as well as the Mediterranean tuna and both were just outstanding
Our waitress on this particular day was excellent constantly checking in with just at the right intervals to make sure that the Ice-T never ran out
A good choice for either lunches or dinners with a wide selection at the bar which we did not partake this time out
They even have outside seating available and a few people enjoying thatHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Kurt K.Huddleston, VA11410Aug 12, 2019
I stopped on a Friday night to listen to some music and enjoyed a good evening of beers on tap and some appetizers. Starting with the beer, they had just finished a special with lots of stouts and porters so that is what was on tap. Not exactly my cup of tea but lots of variety and good quality dark beers. They had enough other variety to keep things interesting.
In terms of food, I enjoyed the crabcake and fried green tomato appetizer. Very tasty good flavors and some additional sauce on the side made it very good. I also had the blue cheese and bacon french fries. Very tasty. Just the right amount of toppings. The french fries were extremely crunchy
Overall a very good experience. Good food good beers and some good country music of the night I was there. I would definitely go back!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - D D.Salem, VA03Jan 3, 2020
Been sitting at a table for almost half an hour and never approached by a server for a drink order or otherwise!
I often find this to be the case when I go in blue fiveHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jun 16, 2015
Wow!! Such a great place! Alex was fantastic and on top of everything! The atmosphere was upbeat and fun.
I ordered the seared ahi... so good!! And we also ordered the basil infused mozzarella described as a fancy mozzarella stick for the table. Whoever came up with that special is crazy creative and needs to make that a regular menu item!
Dessert... coconut creme brûlée... enough to said! I need to never learn how to make that dessert since I do not plan on running marathons in the future!
Sadly it will be a while if I ever get back to this place since its 3000 miles from me but I hope to for sure!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Keo S.Sarasota, FL1784371048Apr 17, 2017
I was really excited to try this place based on the reviews and we were so disappointed.
Service and Host were awesome - so this is definitely a poor review based on food. Cool vibe and great venue for music and drinks (a ton of great beers on tap).
We got the spinach and artichoke dip which was so soupy and chef had too much of a heavy hand on the lemon/citrus. We were starving so had to eat at least half, but then couldn't stomach any more.
Also, got the ribs - what a disappointment - meat did fall off the bone, but flavor profile was just ew. Super gut bomb. Such a bummer.
Come for drinks and to hang out. Eat elsewhere first.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - William W.Houston, TX1041824Nov 7, 2017

Hadn't been here in over five years so I wasn't sure what to expect. Unfortunately we were very underwhelmed with the service and atmosphere. I knew they had music on Saturday but it should have been asked how close we wanted to sit to the music. Needless to say we were seated right by the stage, great music but obviously way too loud for dinner conversation. After about 45 minutes we did ask to be moved and thankfully there was a table open in the back so they let us switch.
Service wise, not good at all. Took three asks to get another water, five or so times to get a straw for my friends water. Our waiter was gone for about 15 minutes at one point which then my boyfriend went to the bar to get drinks for the table. When we were moved to the other table the waitress in that area was not courteous to us at all even though our waiter was still waiting on us.
Thankfully the food was good. Not amazing but good. We had ribs , flank steak and shrimp & grits Ribs were fall off the bone tender and the sides were great. We got our desserts to go, thankfully my friend checked them because they were switched. Otherwise we would have gone home with the wrong dessert. Not sure if they were understaffed or just poorly trained but tonight the quality of service ruined the experience.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Stroker Ac E.Carolina Beach, NC085Oct 9, 2020
I was traveling with my boss and was looking for a good place to eat. This was perfect. The food was quite good, the service spot on and the tap selection excellent... Something for every tastes had the pork tenderloin. Excellent

Our waitress should have been called Houston, because we had a problem.
The real problem is that some of my sisters are a wee bit passive aggressive and have a tendency to be drama queens. Here's the tale...
Coming in from out of town, I wanted a place that had good beer. Having already been to 1906 Ale House (and found it somewhat wanting in the speed department) I thought this place would be another good option.
Service started pretty well...orders were taken, drinks were served quickly and there were no issues. Well, there was one. They tried to serve an Irish Coffee with no cream. They brought it out and said "we're out of whipped cream, do you still want this?". How about you get some cream. So that was a legitimate fail. Also, half the table didn't have silverware. But for me, I just ask for it and don't get bent out of shape.
Food for most everyone was pretty good. I had a cup of the chicken and biscuit soup and loved it. I also loved my shrimp po boy. Huge shrimp, delicious cajun fries...it was perfect. My sister's steak was overdone and that's where some problem started. She didn't want to send it back but wanted to complain about it. She asked for more sauce and only got one container which wasn't enough and asked for more and then there was apparently some eye-rolling which entailed a visit to the manager, blah, blah, blah. You know, if this was some fancy place I'd probably be more upset and apt to act but it's kind of a casual place and I wanted to hang with my family and friends rather than freak out over a $15 steak.
Anyway, waitress came back and apologized, which I thought was awesome. After we declined dessert (yeah, I wasn't going to eat anything else that came out of the kitchen that night!) she even left us comment cards, knowing she'd probably get slammed.
Anyway, the reason I went there, beers, was worth it. Beers were good. I had a nice variety and they tasted great.
I will probably be back, but I'll likely be more selective about who I invite along!
My recommendation is to give this place a shot. If you want or need something, just ask for it. This is probably worth about 3.5 stars. Service isn't bad, just needs a little polishing.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
