$45 just to walk in the door, which is hard after coming from Southern California, where our water parks practically beg you to visit with $29.99 admission or buy a day get a year free or at the very least, buy two days for the price of one. But the weather in Orlando excuses the price hike-- it is HOT and I want to be COOL.

Lockers were $10 but you get $5 back at the end as a deposit. Towel rentals are available for $2... if I would have known this before I got there I probably wouldn't have stolen towels from our hotel room!

Typhoon Lagoon is adorably themed-- we had to come just because of the snow theme. The ski lift is cute, but the line is lo-o-o-ong and it's just faster to hike up to the top. From the top of Summit Plummet you can see all four Disney parks, even the Magic Kingdom castle waaaaay in the distance.

The slides are fun, especially the tube slides, but on a slower day in early October I was left wondering what else there was to do? We finished all of the slides by 2 pm and we had only arrived at 11 am.

I knock of a star for a tough sell on the ratio of value to cost, but the theming made it mostly worth the insane price tag!

I've never been so horrified that I was going to fly off of a slide and into the air than I was at Blizzard Beach, BUT I didn't and I had a blast going about a thousand times on the toboggan racers.

I almost want to say that this is the BEST waterpark I've ever been to, and you NEED to visit if you're going to Disney...but I don't condemn Typhoon Lagoon either, both of them are really insanely amazing. I love Disney, I really do.

They have a lazy river here with really puffy inter tubes that are a little hard to get into but really comfortable...They have some really HUGE body slides (12 story drop on one of them) and even tube slides which I think is awesome because I'm too terrified to go on body slides but I love crazy drops and inter tubes.

They also have a chair lift which is really cute and pretty large, honestly it's incredibly well themed from snowflake and iceberg type floating things to pastel colors and ski lodge/snow decorations. It's a whole day  experience so try to plan your vacation wisely! Hey, the weather's always nice in sunny Florida.

Visited this water park over the weekend and had an absolute blast!!
The day was just perfect, the weather was just right and what else than to spend it at this awesome park!
I went on almost every slide...some of them had a wait of 30min..but for the most it was only 15.
I loved the lazy river...and yes...it is called lazy because u can really just relax...and enjoy the scenery around it.
I loved the wave pool and the waterfall.....I went under it so many times!
and to end the day...my bff and I decided to go against all of our fears and get on the Summit Plunge ride!! yes....that tall slide u can actually see from the parking lot! yes...it was a long wait...but totally worth it!
Next time u are in Orlando...check this park out!

As we pulled into the parking lot, I could see the sky scraping "Summit Plummet" slide.  Every once in awhile I would see a small ant sized person load up onto it, begin to slide and then disappear.  I said to my husband, "How come I never see them go off the end of the slide?"

He turned and looked at me like this:  :l  and said, "Um, because they don't want dead tourists."

Then everyone in the car had much fun at my expense.

I didn't realize how tall it was, that far away.  Scuze me. :P  So, the ginormous slide is just a facade, when you actually go on the tallest waterslide on the planet (no exaggeration) you go straight down and end at the bottom, with an impossibly fantastic wedgie party in your crack.

We entered the park and my youngest began repeating, "I want to go to the top." "I want to go to the top." "I want to go to the top."

I verified, "That big one?  The tallest one?  Are you sure?"

"I want to go to the top." "I want to go to the top."

A lady standing next to me also verified with her, "Are you sure?  Do you know how high that one is?  I won't even go on that one."

"I want to go to the top." "I want to go to the top."

So we all hopped onto the ski lift and headed up to the Summit.  We went up and up and up.  You could see most of the park down below.  We successfully exited the ski lift without injury and then started up the steps towards the Summit.  One by one I kept seeing people coming back down with looks of fear on their faces.

My teenager bailed out a few flights later.  She shook her head and said, "No way, I'll see you at the bottom."

I again verified with my youngest.  "Are you SURE you want to go on this one first?"

Still filled with excitement and glee she demanded we stay on course.

I started to hear random screams of terror.  A few more flights up and I started to get a little nervous.  I love heights, I have no fear.  My daughter began insisting that she go first.

That scared me.  What if she freaked out?  This thing is so tall that I would imagine one false move may render you with a broken leg or arm.  I tried to talk her into letting me go first.  She shook her head violently.  She's my stubborn & independent one.  I was just going to have to let my baby go.

She crawled onto the slide and the CM advised her to lean back, cross her arms and legs and hold them tight.  I saw her little head begin to slide and all I heard was,

"Eep!"

She was gone.  I leaned over to look towards the bottom of the slide and saw her shining little buttocks glaring back at me as she stepped off to the side.  She had made it.    Now I had to do it.

Half way down the 120 foot drop your stomach lodges somewhere into your throat and remembering to hold your nose closed tight is not an option.  I felt myself rest at the bottom, choked and hacked out a pint of water, stood up, tried to un-attach my bathing suit from my liver and stepped off of the slide.

That was wicked!!!

The family tubing ride was a blast.  I think it was our favorite because we all were able to enjoy it.

We would have loved to stay and play for a couple of days but the nagging FL thunderstorms shut down the park both days we were there.

I'm so glad we were able to experience Blizzard Beach at least once with our girls and will feel truly lucky to be able to return again.

This is a top notch water park.  It is almost over load for the senses!  I have visited this water park over time since 1996, and I would give it 5 stars, but I won't because they have not added anything new since 1996, so while it is very entertaining you can find yourself lacking attractions to experience after just a few hours.

Their lazy river is pretty amazing as wraps around the entire park, and has a lot of scenery to take in along with a trip through the mountain!

The story for this water park is as follows, "Imagine a freak snow storm in central Florida, and what does Disney do?  They rush to build the first ski resort in Florida!  Just as they were about to open the gates, the snow started melting!  RUINED or so they thought until they looked up and spotted an alligator on the peak of summit plummet slide down!  With that  they were saved, and they instantly turned the Ski Resort into a Water Park using the runoff from the melting snow to create slides"

It is a fun theme that shows!

Go enjoy, just don't expect  a lot of intense slides (though going 60 mph down the world's tallest and fastest water slide is REALLY intense).

Blizzard Beach would be okay if it wasn't always so over-crowded. I must be spoiled to Disney's fast pass because I just cant stand in line for about three hours in the hot sun for a 2 minute ride. If I wanted to that, then I could have just went to six flags for a cheaper price.

Blizzard Beach is an impressive water park.  The scenery is immediately noticeable.  I love going on the summit plummet which is about 80 feet high and drops you straight down.  Their wavepool and lazy rivers are subpar but they make up for it with the quality of the rides.  The scenery is the biggest reason to come though.  The irony of being in a tropical ski slope will keep you happy.

The newer and better of the 2 Disney waterparks. Lots of fun waterslides for the adventurous (steep, steep, steep). One middle school kid overheard after the drop "I just closed my eyes the whole way".  And slides for families (large tubes to fit 4) or doubles (toboggans) and the tot set.  The sand is very rough and coarse under your feet.  The river ride is nice and they limit the amount of tubes available to avoid overcrowding.  It's a 'blizzard" park so as you're floating down the river, you get sprayed or doused with icy cold water from glaciers/sprouts.  The large lagoon isn't anything compared to Typoon Lagoon nor is it as deep.  Great for families to go wading in.  Several huts where you can stake out a cabana or chair away from the sun.  The usual waterpark fares at the food kiosks - hamburgers and hot dogs.  The bathrooms are small with limited stalls.
