Seattle Rain Soap! MM Got one fo rme and one for sis.
Eucalyptus soap. Me or other sis?
Lemn grass. A present.
I restrained myself.
I love the Dragonfire soap.
The delights of soap and bathsalts which look like desserts. I am so glad I asked what they were.. they look good enough to eat. A lovely gift idea for one who has much and you want to spice things up for fun!
I love my soaps. I am NOT typing this from the tub.. but I shall be there soon. The manager is very warm and nice to all. The soaps get hand wrapped - maybe they will hire me to wrap soap.
Right after dinner at Rom Mai Thai we walked three businesses over to Bliss. To my surprise the "CLOSED" sign was up. I had totally forgotten it's closed on Tuesdays. The lights were on so out of curiosity I peeked in to look at what was new. As I was doing so Phil waves for us (myself, fiancé & friend) to come in.
Yay!!
So my fiancé and I went in there knowing what we were getting but once we saw all the new stuff we were clueless and couldn't make up our minds. After about an hour of looking we just grabbed everything we wanted to stock up on and had Phil rang us out. My friend did the same. Don't know what her total came to but when Phil was ringing us up I expected well over $60. He then said, "Your total is $35.55." Ummm, what?! I said, "No, charge me for these" and pointed out to several things. He refused. I felt like I was taking advantage of him. I've been there enough times to know he's extremely generous but as an honest person, I want to pay for what has a price tag on it, you know. There was no winning with him, lol.
I got the following: 12 mini bath bombs (assorted scents), 2 Dr. Bliss bath bombs, 1 large Goat Milk bath melt, 1 large Milk Honey Oats bath bomb, 3 soaps (assorted scents), 4 pack of cupcake bath melts/bombs, 1 large cupcake bath melt/bomb, 1 large essential oil melt, 1 large bath bomb (mystery scent) and a mini dessert bath melt.
I love this place. I can't get enough but I've been limited to go there once a month as I will go wild and buy the whole store!! Lol. I also got to meet Chuck (finally!) and omg, he's a sweetheart. Just as nice as Phil!!
These guys definitely DO NOT take their customers for granted. They love, appreciate and go out of their way for their customers. I GREATLY appreciate their existence and thank them soooooo much for helping me pamper myself, my fiancé and my mum (sent her stuff and loves it!).
If you're still shopping at Lush, YOU my friend are getting ripped off. They will empty your wallets faster than you can say "Honey I Washed the Kids" or whatever that soap is called. So skip Lush, just once and try out Bliss. Ask for a sample, I doubt Phil or Chuck will say no. I promise you won't be going back to Lush.

Second time here and still amazed!
If you read my first review of Bliss, you'll see I was extremely… Read more »
This is my favorite shopping experience in Capitol Hill. While I love picking up a $5 bunch of flowers at the Farmer's Market, perusing the racks at Gruv for 1/2 off Sopranos seasons, or looking for a cute ensemble at Crossroads, I feel like I'm really investing in a good thing when I buy from Bliss.
This is how service is done; you are not rushed, you are intrigued, and naturally wander around the beautifully-decorated store (this is the decor I try to emulate at my Cap Hill apt), whilst smelling the wonderful natural aromas that God intended.
Last night I stocked up on a bunch of stuff for stocking stuffers, as well as a couple new soaps to try out at home. I was enamoured of the new pumpkin soap...delicious! I cried to Phil, "oh no, there's no cherry"...(my favorite). As I was plopping more mini bath bombs into my paper bag, he comes up to me with a freshly-made...you guessed it...CHERRY soap mixture!!! I'm sorry, but that just made my day. That's true service, my friend.
I will never buy soap anywhere else, ever again. And did I mention if you're a first timer, or just curious, Phil's more than happy to send you home with lots of samples?
6 mini bathbombs and body scrub cost me $8. and something after I told Phil I had moved into my first place two days ago. Screw rent, go bath bombs!

Can one have a religious experience regarding soap? I think I had one here. My mom picked my up from… Read more »
I read the post about the recent fraud the store was stuck with and decided to stop in and buy a few items to help support them.
The displays of soap where amazing!
The owner was so nice, friendly, easy to talk to.
I couldn't even fathom how some of the soaps where made. They had ones that looked like pieces of cake. The smells where so intoxicating wonderful.
I got a great deal, 25 bucks worth of stuff for 15 bucks, buy one get one.
Amazing!
I just used the Butter ball bath bomb, this place can give Lush a run for it's money. I for one will only be going to Bliss from now on!
Bliss Soaps lives up to its name. Not only are their soaps and bath bombs amazing to use, the owners of the shop are incredible as well. They always seem to have new stock, a big smile, and will even do beautiful gift wrapping! Thanks for treating me so well when I'm naked, guys!
I can't leave this store without a bag of goodies and a silly smile on my face. The guys who own this place are like Willie Wonka of soap, Phil will make you take a sample when you've been in there for 5 minutes and he's really funny. You can't tell from the website, but in the store, the products are fantastically presented and packaged with a little tongue-in-cheek.
My favorites are:
Maui Mango soap
Pumpkin soap
Any dessert shaped bath product
Body Yogurt sugar scrub
The soaps are not cheap, but they're fantastic and worth every penny. The store also doesn't have that overwhelming clove-y smell-from-a-mile-away like the other chain soap store, so you can take your macho man there.
If I had more free time, I'd work there for free, it's so fun.
Things that are great about this store:
1. Everything is handmade by the proprietor;
2. Almost everything is vegan (except for the goat milk products - but the goats live happy lives and the proprietor actually milks them himself);
3. There is a serious amount of artistry involved in making the amazingly realistic looking soap-bubble bath sundaes and donuts and cupcakes and fruit and ...;
4. There are daily specials (for example, on Mondays, if you spend $20, you get *12* free bath bombs!);
5. The owner is a sweetheart and lets your dog sniff around the shop.
Not so great?
1. I've run out of reasons to go, because now my bathroom is stocked with products from the shop and I've already gifted all my friends;
2. I feel guilty when the owner gives me free samples and discounts.
So - you should go, unless you've got residual Catholic school guilt, like I do.
Heard of LUSH? Well.. Bliss is better! First of all, it's a locally owned shop and secondly I like the products even better than Bliss. I'm trying to recall prices and I think they're comparable but I would of course rather support local business than shop at a store you see in every city. Additionally it's in a good location (walkable from my apt) and Lush is way downtown where you'd have to pay for parking.
I love the smell of the place when you walk in too! And each time I've been there I've been offered help or answers to questions immediately. Very good spot to get a gift for someone special.
I seriously love this place!! They always have such an awesome variety of fun soaps. Doughnuts, Sundaes, etc. They make great and unique gifts, and I enjoy sending them across the country to friends and family.
Not to mention the guy who is always working (I have apparently forgotten his name) is always extremely friendly and makes you want to come back and visit again.
Decent prices, great products, friendly service. Go get yourself some soap!
wait, massage bars? I have to get back to Bliss!
It is all true, Phil is fabulous, and I wish I were as good at sales as he is. I had my wedding down the street from his shop this past May, and he wrapped mini bath bombs for my guests with a picture of the bride and groom for $0.00!
If you are having a wedding or bridal shower or baby shower, go to Bliss, tell Phil. The first 30 guests get free favors. Yay for free stuff! : )
OH! If you have a DOG, buy yourself a bar of dog shampoo! When I wash my dog with it, it makes me want to *bite* her it smells so good. Her skin can be sensitive too, and this soap is gentle and moisturizing!
Love this place! The bath bombs are great - all natural, great scents and just make you feel good. Same with the soaps. We pick up all sorts of stuff for birthdays, holidays, and what have you. Head in, grab a pail and start filling.
Phil is an amazing man. He's an amazing man with amazing soap. He goes out of his way to make sure you're having a wonderful experience. If you don't walk away happy, it's your own fault.
His soaps? Divine. There will be at least one you can't live without. When you find that dream soap, he'll cut you of a most generous sample. Why? Because he knows you'll enjoy what he has to offer and come back. I know I did.
The bath treats are delectable. You almost want to eat some of them. They look amazing. I almost wouldn't want to let the pieces of art dissolve in my tub. I love the two sizes of bath bombs. Sometimes I just want the baby ones to spice up my bathing experience.
For example, I realized my chin was giving me the finger in a big way. It hurts. I'm not home until tomorrow night. My chin needs some medicine now. Off to Phil's I go. I walk in. I explain my issues. He takes me over to this counter and shoves products into my hand.
"Try this. Use this. Rub it in. It'll be gone in the morning."
Now normally I don't take a complete strangers advice on my skin. My skin is a force to be reckoned with. I did it. He also cut me an amazing deal on said products he put in my hands. How could I -not- walk away with this stuff?
That being said, here it is, the following morning. My chin? 87% better than it was the night before. Honestly it was already feeling better within 20 minutes of putting that salve on my chin. Phil's not just trying to make a ton of cash (clearly by how much he charged me for my purchase), he's honestly trying to help. He always has a ton to say, he always interested in what's going on in your world, and he definitely wants you to walk out with something.
Thanks Phil. Thanks Bliss Soap. Thank God I don't live closer or it could be a dangerous relationship.
Just when I think I can't love Bliss Soaps more, Phil imposes something new on me to try. He has upgraded me to "Oprah status" in his store. I think that means I'm like god or something.
Anyway, I finally tried the Bubble bath, and it went something like this: BUBBLEBATH. HOLY F'IN SH'T. Yeah, I said that. I relaxed so hard, there was profanity involved.
I dissolved a little glob of the chocolate bubble bath under the faucet, all the while thinking: "MUST....RESIST...LICKING....FINGERS."
It looks and smells like whipped chocolate frosting. The bubbles were big and plentiful. My cat investigated...she was baffled. The exchange went something like this: "Mom, you've taken baths before... what's this fluffy stuff?"
"Lola, these are bubbles. It's a bubble bath. I've taken them before, too. You've seen it."
"I'VE NEVER SEEN SO MANY BUBBLES BEFORE EVER IN MY LITTLE CAT LIFE I MUST JUMP UP AND MAKE NOISE AND INVESTIGATE!"
True story.

Dear Lush,
GTFO. I've got a new boyfriend. And he ISN'T CANADIAN.
I walked in here on my way to get… Read more »
Phil, like everyone else has noted, is made of awesome. We were in tonight, picking up soap for my boyfriend's mother, and he was cheerfully helping us pick out the soap and cutting off samples for us as well. He is friendly but not pushy; knowledgeable but not intimidating.
I love the lemongrass soap that Phil suggested to us--actually he gave it to us as a free sample last visit, and OH MAN! It's been our new favourite soap. (I love how yummy it makes my boyfriend smell.)
I've been in twice before, and am always impressed with the quality of service and the knowledge about the soap. I used to be a Lush girl, when I lived in San Fran and Boston, but now that I have Bliss on Capitol Hill, I've not felt the need to hit Lush up.
Phil and Bliss prove one thing: Quality local service will kick the ass of your major chains any day. Long live Bliss!
The owner of this place is really the cherry on top of the treat that is Bliss Soaps. He is so friendly and helpful, and not pushy at all. The hours are quite strange... he likes to close on occasion when he's supposed to be open but that's the brilliance of owning a store and being the only employee. We talked about it once or twice and that's his exact reasoning "It's my business, I can have whatever hours I want." Sweet.
Beside that, the soap is amazing and affordable and he has the most precious cupcake bath bombs. Once he had chocolate soap that was in the shape of both cat poop and dog poop... which I made a friend of mine buy for his ex-gf's birthday. I'm really not the girl to take when you want to buy presents for other girls.
Seriously though, this place is amazing, the owner is amazing, and there are deals every day of the week... and usually he'll give you any of the deals, depending on what you buy. You'll usually walk out with a few free mini bath bombs or soap samples. Cannot rave enough about Bliss!
Awesome products and great friendly service make this a true gem of Seattle. Do you actively look forward to bathing? I didn't use to until I discovered these soaps. All natural ingredients are used to locally hand-make these soaps.
Simply wonderful!
I first came across Bliss Soaps about four years ago and have never looked back. The most wonderful aromas emanated from the shop as I entered and instantly reminded me of dreams of days gone by. The quality of the products is top notch (definitely puts others to shame) and let's not forget the wonderful charm and warmth of the proprietor. Sadly, I have moved a bit further away since then, but I always make time to visit, and of course, restock. This is one shop not to miss. Thanks Phil!
The last time I went into Bliss Soaps, Phil decided to give me the buy one get one free deal even though it wasn't a Saturday. When I mentioned that I was buying soap for my mom, who'd been too shy to interrupt his discussion with another customer the last time we came in, he insisted on giving her another bar for free. He even attached a post it note with a message to my mom:
"Mrs. O,
Sorry for ignoring you during your last visit to the store. Enjoy this soap on me.
- Phil"
I ended up leaving the store with 5 full size bars of soap and 2 samples for the price of 2 bars.
So basically Phil is the best.
Hubby and I were wandering the area after dinner and stumbled across Phil's shop. TOTALLY AMAZING!!
We bought several bars of soap as gifts for my MIL, and have plans on going back for "after baby comes" gifts for friends. Of course, we got a few bath bombs for me - and they were amazing! The scents were so true and clear.
If there were more than 5 stars, I'd give them all to Bliss Soaps and Phil.
Went here to get my brother's present I only had 4 bucks, he was turning 18 I know bad but I looked here for some help because it was the first thing on my mind. Phil recommend the Street Boy soap and he also added an extra soap and I also got a super cute Coffee bath bomb sample! The thing is he told me not to pay anything! I automatically said no!!! I handed him a dollar because I just had to. I love this place it makes me also want to open a soap shop after college or perhaps during. Phil will have to teach me everything!

Phil is the sweetest man ever, he is a darling. Even though he was outside, he still let me in. The… Read more »
It's said that the test of a purchase isn't in the product, whether that be in a restaurant, a new shirt, an oil change, or in this case, soap. The test of a purchase, then, is in the experience. We all want to have a pleasurable experience when making our purchases. That is why, then, Bliss gets Cinco Estrellas!
Phil, co-owner, couldn't me nicer. He answered all my questions, gave me several samples to go with my purchases, and you know he loves his profession.
I made several purchases here: several bars of soap, a shampoo bar and several bath bombs. I tried the shampoo bar out tonight and I'm a fan! (tea tree) As someone who has had dry scalp problems forever, I've been looking for something that's effective in cleaning my hair but also gentle enough that it doesn't burn my scalp. After using the bar, I could tell right away that there aren't any chemicals used in the making of Bliss's products. It left my hair (after conditioner) feeling silky smooth, ahhhh, and didn't burn my eyes or scalp.
Needless to say (but I'm saying it anyway), Bliss has a new customer. With prices that are competitive with stuff you'll get elsewhere, product quality (cruelty free, without the use of chemicals), and top-notch service, folks, we have a winner!!
I came here yesterday just as the owner Phil was running across the street for "headache medicine" (code word - coffee). We waited patiently outside for about 15 minutes until Phil came back, and laughed and said he just leaves the door unlocked. Awesome.
The soap selection was out of this world and the man I was with lasted about 5 minutes, which Phil said earned him an award. Phil helped me pick out soaps and bath bombs while chatting about his partner of 18 years and asked me for help renaming his soap. As I was paying, Phil refused my money because he felt badly for making us wait. He finally took some, but he gave me a huge discount. Double awesome.
If the world has beat you down.... BLISS. If it is all too much..... BLISS. Stop in and let Phil recommend the soothing soap, lotion, or bath-bomb that will rinse it all away!
My wife turned me on to this place and I am so glad she did. It is now at minimum a weekly stop for my supplies. The shop is amazing and so comforting. The awesome array of soaps and bath products are very affordable and now a requirement in my life. Before wandering into Bliss Soaps I never knew such delight. I personally recommend the Olive Oil and Butter soaps and bath-bombs!
I have to echo all of the other reviews here. Their products are amazing and the customer service is beyond expectations.
Thanks for everything Phil and Chuck. You are awesome!
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh man. I feel a new obsession coming on.
I'm already a bit in over my head when it comes to lotions and soaps, but lately I've been keeping it under control.
Then yesterday, I'm just strollin' along Broadway, mindin' my own business, killin' some time when I see across the street - Bliss! I'd read about it but never had a chance to stop by. I saw an opening. I took it.
Oatmeal-peppermint soap! Foot scrubs! Shampoo bars! Bath bombs! Natural deodorant! Things that look and smell like cupcakes and I don't even know what they are!
...45 minutes later, after I had touched and smelled everything in the shop, I left with a grapefruit scrub and 2 kinds of soap. (The two soaps were both samples.) I had a great time talking to the guy working there (agh I didn't get his name!) and felt comfortable asking all of my questions. It didn't hurt that he's high-lar-ious - I needed some levity in my afternoon.
Bliss has a new regular customer. I can't even be upset about the potential ramifications for my cash flow, since their prices are more than reasonable.
Amazing place! After reading so many positive reviews about this place, i knew I had to go for myself. A+. Phil was very knowledgeable and friendly. It's easy to understand why this soap shop is so successful! The deals, smells and great atmosphere! Any soap scent you could imagine! And one such bath fizz I tried right after my visit--The Fruit Basket--kept my skin fresh and soft until my next shower! Highly recommended.
I have nothing new to add to the already fabulous reviews. So I'll just say this:
- Amazing, amazing service. This is what shopping should ALWAYS be like. Everywhere.
- Free samples galore. I came in to browse and walked out with a jam-packed gift tin and some items for myself. I probably paid for less than half of what the owner gave me.
- Incredible products. Lotion. Oh. My. God. And the vanilla pudding shampoo bar and shaving elixir rock my world.
- Husband-approved. This isn't a girly frou-frou shop. It's for everyone. And my guy loved the stuff I picked up for him.
I'm hooked. Bliss does it right and they deserve my dollas!
Yesterday was my birthday, and on a whim and on my way to a giant margarita, I swooped my friend into Bliss. I have never been, and since I HATE lush I was super excited to find a small joint who sold bath bombs....
In any event- the second I walked in I was TOTALLY ENAMORED!!! The place smells like a garden of sweet delights, and there are colors and heavenly desert soaps and accoutraments to delight everyones senses! And to top it off, my day was made even more special with a few 'treats' thrown in with my purchase.
The service is TOPS, the variety is deeeeelightful, the pricing is pleasing to scrooges like me-- please, do yourself a favor, never go to Lush again and swarm you and everyone you know into Bliss. I LOVE THEM!
Do not miss this little shop. I've been several times. Go in to look for a gift, and the extremely friendly owner will send you home with a bag full of free samples, too. Very enthusiastic about his soaps, and rightfully so. As someone else commented, the lemongrass soap smells wonderful.
Just the experience of visiting Bliss is a special occasion for me and I leave plenty of time for it as Phil knows everything about every single item in his store and is eager to let you take home samples and tell you all about them. He is so incredibly generous and friendly and hilarious. You just can't help but leave the place in a good mood. There are no artificial perfumes in his products, just pure natural goodness and high quality ingredients. My friend Rebecca was big on Lush products but that first visit to Bliss is what she calls a "life changing event." I am not exaggerating when I say I thought she was tearing up just a little (okay also it was a stressful week of study for us). Anyways, she's been converted. Say goodbye to the L-word!
This place is what small local business is all about - personal attention for the customer (and all sorts of little extras that chain stores can't accommodate, like samples and custom orders!) and a labor of love for the owner. Just thinking about the place seriously makes me happy.
The mango bath bomb is awesome, as is the rose bomb...actually I like 'em all. What I'm most proud of is the lotion I invented -- Asian pear and mango. Yup you can get the basic unscented lotion and choose your own scents, and he'll make it for you.
Oh and if you're giving a gift, holy cow, will Phil ever go nuts making it awesome. He busts out the cellophane and ribbon and boxes and cute containers and of course his glue gun. And that didn't cost extra, he was so excited about making it all pretty.
I typically can't afford such luxuries on my pathetic grad student/TA salary but it really isn't really super expensive, especially with his promos, specials, and samples. The quality is truly worth it. You can even buy online and do a "drive by" pick up. Just awesome. My favorite little business on Capitol Hill for sure.
Bliss is one of those places that I've been hearing about for the last year or so (Hello 'Best of Yelp"), but I've never been in only b/c I never know exactly where it was and I didn't just 'stumble' upon it...
Well, thankfully yesterday afternoon we did. We were headed to the Harvard Exit and as I exclaimed, "OH, it's Bliss! We've got to go in!" We had a few minutes to kill before our movie, so we walked in for a browse.
When you walk in, the smell... Oh the glorious smell, it smacks you in the face something fierce, and it is heavenly! The medley of mint and oatmeal, chocolate, basil and orange- I kind of wanted to eat everything in here. It all smells and looks so good. Pretty much a wonderland for the senses!
The owner, Phil is nothing but nice and fun... He's completely personable, funny, and very helpful with any questions you may have. As I was purchasing 3 bath bombs (they were all holiday wrapped, btw!), I tried some of his Butter Lotion. Honestly. The best lotion I've ever tried. I put it on my hands and a few seconds later- silky smooth and my cuticles are gone.
"What is this stuff?" I ask Phil as he's ringin' me up. "Oh, that's our butter lotion. Easily the best lotion you will ever use. It's made from all sorts of proteins and silk.. It's an old family recipe (from France)." Old family recipe from France, huh? Yeah... I'm sold.
Oh, and his prices are very reasonable and everything in here is handmade.
I exclaim at how wonderful it is and want to know where it is on the shelf. They're only selling it in a set right now.. but he gave me a big ass sample to tide me over for a bit. I know I'll be in here sooner rather than later to buy the set.
Great for gifts, Great for some plain ol' 'me time' shopping and so much fun. Definitely make it in here before Christmas. He's got some fabulous holiday displays, and bath bombs in the shape of cupcakes, cakes, chocolates... even almond roca. I actually left the store hungry.
If you are in need of a high quality soap, Bliss is the place to check out. The products are great quality and at some freat prices. They have a fantastic sale on Saturdays (if memory serves me right) and a great selection.
The owner offers some great suggestions if you mention what you are in the mood for. Mind you everything is good, so I'm sure you won't be disappointed with anything. Just follow your nose!
Btw...the Bath Bombs are fantastic to use if you are in the need of a bubble bath!
Located on the broadway strip, Bliss Soaps is a must for those who appreciate creativity and good scents. While their soaps are fun, featuring all kinds of ingredients from mango to tea tree, the thing to try is the bath bombs (or bath fizzies if you're in an airport as the owner will tell you). The bath bombs dissolve in your tub, releasing all kinds of bath salts and ingredients that result in relaxation and smooth skin. Bliss does not skimp on its ingredients; I've seen whole flowers come out of these things.
As a guy, I find this store especially good for gifts. Phil, the owner, is extremely helpful and friendly. There are daily specials (I can't figure out if these are for real or if he makes them up on the spot) that lead to great deals, and then he almost always hooks you up with something else as well. For example, I bought 10 bath bombs at 2 for 1 pricing. Already happy with my purchase, he then went above and beyond and assorted them into a great-looking gift-basket, adding smaller bath bombs during the process for free to make it look great. He'll help you put together a great package, he'll give you free samples - he is a real salesman and is open about the fact that he does these things to get you hooked and bring you back. It works.
Phil's generosity is AMAZING. I was visiting from NY and specifically targeted his shop after reading all the reviews on here that it was better than Lush. And wow! I walked in on the buy one, get one free day. I picked up cocoa butter and mango massage bars, cucumber melon and coconut lime soaps, and some mini bath bombs. As I was about to put back the jumbo bath bombs that I had decided not to purchase, Phil takes the Butterball and tells me it's a gift since I'm from out of town. And when I told him these other mini bath bombs were a gift for my friend who was hosting me, he put them in a cute blue pail, added a free grapefruit soap and another little bath bomb, and wrapped everything up with ribbon. So nice! Of course I also walked out with 6 or 7 soap samples. I was expecting tiny slivers but he cut off big chunks!! I highly recommend this place if you want a wonderful personalized experience. I think I spent an hr in Bliss Soaps, it was that fun smelling all the goodies and chatting w/Phil. :)
I cannot say enough about this place. It's local, fresh, quirky, has convenient hours, super friendly/helpful service, non-chemical-ish ingredients, and stuff that smells so good I have to remind myself not to eat it... I know it sounds a little crazy, but just going in Bliss kind of cheers me up!
Phil, the owner, is insanely helpful and passionate about his products. He's always happy to explain why a soap would/wouldn't be a good one for my skin type and his try-before-you-buy philosophy means that I always walk out with gobs of sinful-smelling-samples (upon which I end up hooked like an addict, of course).
My current fav's: Lavender skin polisher (1-2 times/week is plenty for me so it lasts forever), Tea Tree soap for everyday face, and Ain't Mis-Bee-Havin. My boyfriend loves the Kind Coal and the Pumpkin Pie.
I have been shopping here exclusively for bath products for ~6 months. As a person who LOVES bath goodies but also has perfume allergies, Bliss is perfect for me, since I can shop without getting a headache. They do use a few questionable ingredients, but I forgive them for those. Their soap leaves my skin so soft, and smells great! They use fresh fruit and herbs, and the scents are just intoxicating.
Their service is fantastic. Chuck and Phil are people who care about the products they make and the people who use them. They can give you the rundown on everything they sell, make helpful suggestions, or do custom orders. They also suggest things without having an overbearing upsell attitude, which I really like. Not once have I been here and NOT received either free samples, or just free stuff. I once got a whole carton of pomegranate bath bombs because Phil was "tired of looking at them." They also make their product in small batches, and are locally owned, which makes me feel good about shopping here.
The vanilla pudding shampoo is indeed "hair crack," as owner Phil put it (who also told me he started growing hair again just to use it, hehe.) The natural deodorant (of which I was a skeptic) survived Las Vegas in July, I was impressed!
I could say more nice things, but take mine and the other reviewers' words for it and just go buy some bliss soap right now!
I love this place and remember when it was in Northgate only. The chocolate is my favourite, pumpkin is a close second and the lemongrass is the most refreshing soap ever! I also love the innovative and cute foody bath bombs and jelly soaps. Plus the fact that if you a nice you can get a huge discount depending on the owner's mood. The owners are R-A-D! Thanks guys, for making the best smelling soaps in the city!
I discovered Bliss Soaps what feels like forever ago - if you ever visited their little cart in Northgate Mall you know what I'm talking about! Well, a friend worked close by and the owners were super nice; the fact that I couldn't find bath bombs anywhere regularly since Garden Botanika closed up shop was a huge bonus. (Whoo, now I'm dating myself!)
Anyhoo - the rest, as they say - was history.
I consider myself a Bliss Soap Premiere Shopper: Essentially, I no longer shop anyplace else for my bath and body needs. I'm *upset* when I have to buy soap at the store (Oh the HORRORS!)!! I have long graduated from their amazing soaps and bath bombs to their all natural, high-quality array of body and skin care products. Lotions, body butters, facial creams, washes, and masks. The shampoo bars are also great for travelling.
As people have already mentioned, Bliss Soap's products are high quality, all-natural, and long lasting - without being ridiculously expensive and inaccessible. The daily specials are almost too good to be true, and the staff are super friendly and nice.
Best of all, if there's a scent or combination you've been looking for - they'll mix it for you! Or, let's say you really like the rosemary soap but want it in a shower gel, lotion, or shampoo - they'll make it for you on the spot. It's service like this that has made me a Bliss customer for life.
Screw Lush. Seriously. This place is local, the owner is super-friendly, the quality is better, and they love to sample! Service is top-notch here, and the deals on multiple bath bomb/soap purchases can't be beat.
NOTE: Periodic random interjections of manliness were added to this review to salvage what is left of my masculinity. Viewer discretion is advised.
This place is awesome. Awesome boutique soups that smell terrific at affordable prices. You just cannot beat a medium-rare bloody piece of steak grilled over an open fire.
Like another poster, I used to like some of Lush store products but always found them to be expensive. Plus - some of the soaps left my skin oily and who knows what those wacky Canadians are putting into our soap. I watched "True Grit" 6 times last week. The soaps from Bliss smell great, lather up great, and don't give me that oily feeling - plus they are reasonably priced (unlike Lush). Sometimes I suds up my face with the lather from the Tea Tree Oil soap and shave myself with a freshly sharpened axe - which I keep next to my bathroom sink.
The gentleman who owns / runs the store is super cool, knows all the soaps intimately, and will make suggestions or offer samples if you're unsure. Plus they run daily specials. I've walked 18 miles in the snow in my bare feet to wrestle a brown bear.
