i like it, i like it alot. Been here a few times, this past time went to see our friend Elay spin.. great music! The drinks were perfect.. they know how to make a mean brandy Manhattan.

Unfortunately it's kind of out there in the boonies, but rest assured cabs fly by all the time.

Wow, I couldn't believe what happened to me there on Friday night.  What a blatant case of horrible service (and borderline discrimination?).  The worst experience I've ever had in a bar.

So it was 2 days ago, Friday nite at 11pm.  My friend and I walked inside to get a couple of drinks.  We went towards the back room, where there were 2 booths and a couple of tables.  One of the booths was emtpy, we asked the girls in the next booth if anyone was sitting there, they said the people just left so cool .. we scored some comfy seats.

We sit down and take a look at the menu .. the hostess (blonde chick with tattoos) walks by and services the other people 3 times without even acknowledging our table.  Ok, well, maybe she thinks we're not ready because we're still looking at the menu .. we were giving her the benefit of the doubt.  So we put the menu down.  5 minutes goes by, waitress walks by again without looking at us.   WTF?  We finally got fed up with waiting and decide to get our drinks from the bar.

So still giving her the benefit of the doubt as we couldn't believe she was being so blatant about ignoring us, we finished our first round of drinks and wait for her to ask us if we want another round.  We wait in vain.  Throughout the time we were there, she makes about eight trips back and forth servicing the other tables without even as much as a glance at our booth.  WTF.  At one point, she was standing right next to me, asking the other booth if everything was ok and didn't even turn around and ask us if we wanted anything.  Wow.   Needless to say I was shocked.

The place was not busy at all, and I have no idea why the chick had any issues with us at all.  All we did was come in and sit down.   The only thing that I can think of is that we were the only minorities, and I don't want to play the race card, but I really can't think of anything else that would have applied.  But, really, in this day and age?  In this city?   And after reading some of the other reviews, I can see I'm not the only one who had this experience.  Sad.

Needless to say, I'm advising all my friends to not give their hard earned dollars to this venue.

Great atmosphere here.  Can get a bit packed on the weekend so I generally stop in for a drink or two during the week.

Bartenders here are top notch.  Great service.

Scenery isn't bad here either.  Recommend!

Wifey and I came here last night and this place was very chill and relaxed. This bar has great atmosphere and the hostess was very attentive and jotted our drinks down and after two minutes our drinks have arrived. Sarunya ordered their Lemond Drop which she enjoyed very much and i ordered Pineapple Express, yum yum! Dim lights, lounge-electronica music, they played Jay Electronica! to my surprise. Wifey and I were "cup caking" :-) I highly recommend visiting this place, great place to have drinks at a reasonable price, great for big groups and it's CLEAN! Parking is widely available on a Friday which was a surprise for me.

PROS:
-DRINKS are strong and reasonably priced
-LOCATION is safe. (lots of cops around that area)
-PARKING was easy to find
-DIM LIGHTS but not too dark
-VERY CLEAN! from the seats, tables, floors to the bathroom
-FRIENDLY AND ATTENTIVE STAFF!
-DECOR-lots of purple, PURPLE RAIN! PURPLE RAIN!

CONS-

NOTHING AT ALL....

I feel so lucky to call this my neighborhood bar!

I met a handful of friends here last Friday night for happy hour, and because I was already in the area, I was the first to arrive... not only out of my friends, but I was the first person in the bar. No biggie though. The owner was friendly and I was content sipping my delicious happy hour mojito while watching European soccer on the flat screens.

The interior of Bliss Bar is very chic and modern. The music was perfect loungey, conversation-friendly background noise. Everything here was great. Our drinks, the service, the decor and our fellow patrons.

5 stars for:
- super easy parking (even without the handicapped placard, but you know I still used that shit)
- pleasant, efficient bartenders who kept me in yummy mojitos all night
- nice decor, welcome vibe, and plenty of seating (very important when you have a gimp foot)
- clean bathrooms (both the men's and women's - I don't wait to pee)
- music at a level you could have a convo without shouting
- very reasonable drink prices

Overall a great spot for a relaxed evening.

peace, love, and good booze were all found at Bliss Bar ~ chase

This is a very cool looking and great bar to have a party in. It has a private room in the back. I can see it as a good place for a Bday or maybe UYE? We had to stop by thanks to Gill's suggestion. I end up ordering the Lola. Its a pretty drink and not to bad. Ever in the area you have to stop by and check out this bar.

Mixed crowd and totally packed. All the tables and bar stools were taken. Luckily, after standing for some time, one of the corner seats by the fire place opened up and our group of 10 moved to sitting.

The ambiance was okay, not much in terms of decor. Lots of red lighting and red candle holders...why do bars/lounges always pick red lighting?

Music was loud...don't remember what was playing, just remember shouting to my friends. The drinks were strong, got the Pineapple Express and was pretty much nursing it throughout the night. Surprisingly, parking wasn't much of a problem and no cover...I like that!

Lovely venue.  Private birthday party.  Back room.  Before the night ended, the review was going to read 4 stars:  1 star for decor.  1 star for friendly security guard.  1 star for nice owner.   1 star for reasonably priced drinks to the point that I planned on having my engagement party here.

Enter "MIA", the villainess waitress who claims to not have stolen money from us and did not yell at the birthday girl, but a spade is a spade, a hobbit is Frodo, and "MIA", you are Smeagle, or as you shall forever be known, Gollum. Minus two stars for you, my Precious...

Now let's be fair.  I'm normally accepting of cocktail waitresses who get progressively drunker throughout the night and that consistently mess up drink orders.  It's cool because it's not easy to waitress and they work hard for their money.  However, I am not very accepting when the same waitress demands tip at the end of the night, claiming that no one tipped her.  Well, we paid cash at the bar, so somehow, a hundred dollars disappeared that night.  The birthday girl's boyfriend was nice enough to give her the benefit of the doubt and $80 cash right then and there, but the question in our minds was, "Do Benjamins grow legs and walk at midnight?"

Something didn't smell right, when the next day, our friend got charged an additonal $100 onto his card to cover the drinks that we paid hundred dollar cash, that included $20 tip.  Geez, how did that happen?

Said boyfriend went back to speak to the owner to question the charges, and the owner was kind enough to give us back half of the money and made Mia give us the other half back.  MIA then had the nerve to warn him to never come back again.  Well, don't worry MIA, we will come back, possibly, but we know better than to give you cash in the future.

Answer is: Don't keep an open tab or pay cash without a receipt.

Went into Bliss for the first time tonight with my bf and some of his friends. I loved the overall atmosphere of the place. The music was at the perfect volume and the lights were down low. It is rather small in the front, but it does include areas that are good for cuddling as well as congregating with a large group. The back area is large and spacious, perfect for a party. Drinks are moderately priced; they did pretty well with my Midori Sour. Bartenders were polite and seemed effecient at what they were doing. I will definitely go back again and maybe plan some group outings there.

I've only been once and it was for Monday Night Stand Up. It was awesome. One lady behind the bar but she was quick, efficient, and remembered orders like a champ. No dropped drinks, no neglected customers, no long waits.

The crowd was awesome. Supportive of the comedians, kind to one another regarding views/seating/slipping in to order drinks. All in all it was an extremely enjoyable experience, well priced, good neighborhood, and a great venue to watch young comedians take a swing at the mic.

I am not actually giving it four stars based on the fact it's the place I'd wanna go a lot, but the fact that it's a pretty solid place.  I have gone twice now, the music is ok not too loud, so it's a great place to meet up with people and talk.  I appreciate the fact it is more of chill place, the crowd is kick back and I really like the drinks.  The prices are reasonable and they have fun drink choices.

Came on a Friday night for a friend's birthday.  The place was pretty packed, so i think next time i may steer clear of weekends and hit it up on a week night.  I had a good time though.  Bliss is spacious enough inside that if you come early enough you can grab a seat at the bar or any one of their couches.  I liked that they had multiple booths, especially the one in the back corner that looked like it could fit a party of 10.

Dimly lit inside, i always like that.  The decor and layout of the place is eye-catching.  I was pretty comfortable, and comfortable is key.  Although it was packed, the crowd was pretty mellow for a Friday night and it wasnt so bad that you were shoulder-to-shoulder with everyone.

I wish i would have gotten the bartender's name.  She makes great drinks and was really friendly.  Great because they were pretty damn stiff - all alcohol with a tiny (and i mean tiny) splash of soda.   I definitely didn't walk out of here with clear vision.  But i didnt trip over my own feet - yes! (anyone who knows me knows im totally accident-prone)  Oh and parking was not a problem at all!

This was a "sheer luck" find on my first night in the city. I had successfully navigated the BART (OK, carpet and public transportation do not go together - who's idea was that??) from the airport to Powell Station, where my girlfriend picked me up - then immediately got us a cab to head to Noe Valley where we were staying. I dropped off my bag and we were off!

We wandered down 24th Street and ended up in a generic Irish pub with bad music and bored bartenders. Boo.

A couple of doors down and we see a DJ in the window and gorgeous red and blue lighting beckoning to us from Bliss Bar - sold. The sole bartender (it was a slow Thursday around 12a) was great. She recommended Li Po Lounge, Buddha Lounge, Latin American Club and more.

The DJ played old Fugees and even older Outkast, which made for a mellow groove atmosphere. The décor was just my style: clean, modern, with shiny concrete floors and featuring a couple intimate booths in the back and plenty of seats at the bar. My favorite part was the brushed metal fireplace spotlighted in blue; it reminded me a little of Beetlejuice. On the TV? A bizarre old B&W movie about a feral child that delighted us to no end.

I stuck to a vodka/soda, but their known for their martinis. My friend picked the Lychee Lemon Drop...or was it the Rita Crush? Well, it was pretty tasty. All in all a gorgeous, intimate little space with friendly staff. What a welcome to the city!

Friday night. Enter bar.
DJ spinning the beats at the front window; we walk further in, and find the bar stretches from the entrance and then opens up into a swanky dimly lit red room. Several couples chillin' like us so we slide in a booth across from the bar.

crowd: variety of people (types and ages).
drinks: the Cosmo. we ordered was a little strong for her.
ambiance: comfortable booths and the lighting is forgiving on the most average looking people!
music: 80's and James Brown mixed with funky beats.

Finished drinks and departed back for my place. The night was a success. The vibe of the bar was helpful. ;)

Would've been four. It was all good, cute & classy... til the cocktail waitress (or busser or whatever she was... the one that looks like a skinny, young Kirstie Alley) said "It's time for you to get the f*ck outta here" just after last call. We weren't loitering either.

Rough night? Possibly. But very unnecessary.

Pretty swank place. When I went, there was definitely an older crowd of 26+ which was really nice in some ways. It's perfect for meeting people and just chilling out if you want a low-key, classy feeling night. I probably wouldn't suggest this place if you were planning to bar-hop since it felt a little out of the way.  Music was down played and nice.

Get yourself into Bliss, sidle up on a bar stool and start talking pretty to that bartender because she will treat you right! A whole menu of $7 drinks? Don't mind if I do, thank you very much.

Make that a fruity one too because I'm reminiscing about a time circa 2000 when people would have private parties in the back room (no, not those kind of private parties) and the alcohol was free flowing.

Don't change Bliss! The dot com days are gone but you're still here with your red divey plushness. Thank god for you and have another because we're reminiscing tonight and god damn it we deserve it.

OK, I came down to check out the food in the Castro and met up here with my girls at the Bliss. Drinks were a 5, atmosphere 4--would be 5, but something didn't smell right, might have been the frat boys. We got a great table across from the bar and stayed long enough for the crowd to roll in. A fairly unpretentious local mix of folks. Drinks were strong, almost too strong. I'll definitely come again.

I would have given this place three stars...

But I came in on a wednesday night, and the dj played some pretty good music. A few of her songs were a little off, but for the most part, I enjoyed the music a lot. Parking is typical san francisco, not too bad.

I had..

pineapple express
and i forgot the name of the other drink.. not bad. pretty strong drinks.

It's a sweet looking bar. Great looking decor and faux fireplace (or is it real?). Amazingly enough its rather roomy for such a small looking space. It was Pam's birthday in the back room, I wish I had known there was a back room to look for.

Apparently it's called the blue room for good reason and I don't what that good reason is. I don't recall it being blue, just a lot of couches and a strong A/C. For the life of me I don't know why everyone had to congregate by the entrance to said Blue Room leaving all the free space at the opposite end of the room and getting all up in my grill. So I mosy'd over there and found out why everyone moved... did I mention the cold blowing snow cover A/C?? yeah...

The music wasn't half bad despite the fail with the iPod debacle. The service was great considering that there was one waitress for all Bgillion of us back there. It was fun, I got to meet some new folks and some old folks. The mango mojito(???) was great. I was able to get a hold of a few of those before leaving.

And Pam, if you're reading this... tell your younger sister that it was great meeting her... odd that she has the same name as your mother though.

I don't know how Pierre does it...running the front of the house AND the back of the house, and mixing up all those delicious cocktails at the same time. Pierre kept me socially lubricated with thirst quenching caipiriniahs and mojitos. And he doesn't accept tips b/c he runs the place--wow!

I was totally digging the warm red hues, and the Pollock-like art in the back area.

Fun times.

Growing up in Nevada, I drove everywhere.  I got my driver's license the day I turned 16, and despite totaling 3 cars in the process (only 1.5 were my fault) and living in Boston for 3 years, I have come to rely heavily on vehicles that I am in charge of.  Perhaps that's why the location of this bar really didn't bother me.

When searching for the perfect locale for my party, I shopped around, emailed a few places...only to find out that I would have to sell one of my kidneys, as well as body parts of some of my friends, to be able to afford it.  That's no bueno.  Then I remembered what I good time I had for the cookie exchange (as well as the tiniest glimpse of the caged room in the back), and emailed Bliss.

Katina got back to me promptly about booking the back room and was always available via email when I had a question.  The process of booking the room was amazingly simple.  They would have a table set up for food, and said I could play tunes from my iPod.

The night of, Pierre was incredibly helpful.  Sure, the cord didn't work, and we couldn't play the music we had so carefully selected for the event.  Yes, I believe there was only waitress for us and I think we crowded her a bit- but I've been in the industry for years, and know how it goes.

The "Blue Room" is great for a private party- there are plenty of booths lining the wall (had my mom not been there, I'm sure things would have gotten more out of control), and plenty of little tables to hold pans of delicious cupcakes.  I think the drink prices are reasonable considering, although more bathrooms probably would be a good idea.

One thing I would recommend for those having parties here in the future: as part of the deal is to have a minimum bar tab, and some people just naturally wander to the bar, you might want to give your guests some sort of identifier to wear so it applies to you.  It was kind of embarrassing to have to tell my peeps to make sure and tell them they are from the Blue Room, but as all my friends are wonderful, they only looked at me marginally strangely when I told them the deal.

I still really like this place, and am still waiting for the date here.

I can't comprehend how it could take over 7 minutes from when I placed my order to get a Jameson & ginger ale and my change, when there were two bartenders and literally 3 people waiting at the bar. I felt like I was compromising my self-respect when I left a tip.

It's nice inside and they have a caged-off area for semi-private parties, but it's a pain in the ass to get out there or back to civilization from there and I get to do it all over again next weekend for another birthday party.  I hope the service improves.

It was an impromptu Birthday celebration on a Tuesday night at Bliss.  Really mellow lounge, good drinks, good service.  DJ started spinning around 9, I'd guess.  Our waitress had a really good memory and kept our tab separate from the rest of the party- kudos for that non-hassle.  Since I came on a Tuesday, I have no idea what the regular clientelle is like, but I had a great time.

Rockstar parking for Pam's B-day.  Reasonably priced drinks.  Odd location in Noe Valley, but with the parking I got, I'm not complaining.  Attractive little place, and the Blue Room in back is a great, private spot.  Decent manhattan.  Hangar One vodka.  "these are a few of my favorite things", lol.  Bliss put Noe Valley back on the map for me.

Great party, and thanks to Pam for organizing it!

This is an unexpectedly sensual and accommodating place, nestled randomly in sleepy Noe Valley.  For some reason I am moved to describe it in practical bullet points.  I can find l nothing wrong with it and yet nothing particularly story-worthy either.

Bar: talented
Music: sexy upbeat  lounge, DJ spun
Clientele: Hard to say.  Large party of people I already knew excepted, it seemed a bit young.  Which didn't fit my preconception given the neighborhood.
Decor: Your gay city friend's well-appointed living room
Space: lots of seating and traffic-friendly configuration
Party-Planning?: Try the blue room.

I'll be back!

Pam B's 33rd birthday? At Bliss Bar? Well, of course, I have no problem making a stop in Noe Valley!

Love the decor of half lounge, half bar. Damn stiff dirty martini, just the way I like it. Their service both in the Blue Room for Pam's event and at the bar was timely and without wait, definitely a great place to host a small celebration. Somehow Pam managed to cram in a few dozen more to make this spot even sweeter.

In terms of sitting in a comfy booth with a good beer, Bliss is amazing.  It's my local spot - it's relaxed and has a fantastic interior.  Which is why I hate to do this, but....

Aside from their lackluster cocktails, I had an extremely unfortunate encounter with the only waitress who works there.  Boyfriend and I stopped in for a drink, just the two of us, as we often do Friday nights.  The waitress took our order and recognized us from how often we come by.

After ordering our second round, she came up to us and asked if we would mind moving to a different booth in the back so that a larger party could take our seat.

Ok, well that's not all that professional, but not a big deal.  So we politely asked where she wanted us to move.  She pointed to the corner, under a bright light, without a table or chairs.  Or any sign of the booth she mentioned.

Huh?  She wanted us, regular customers who had gotten there early, to get up and stand in the corner so a larger party could take our spot?  And she lied about there being another place to sit??  Am I crazy, or is that kind of weird?

I am in a state of BLISS!! Hahahaha.

I went here last night with my friends and had a blast! Parking was fairly easy for a Noe Valley spot but we came a bit early around 11 or so and there weren't that many people.

Upon stepping in, I thought it was going to be just some ordinary bar with seats near the bar and scattered tables and chairs but nooo. They had comfortable red seats lining the walls and it definitely had a sexy vibe to it!

Our waitress was great and accommodating too. I ordered a Pink Me Up which wasn't too strong. Your typical girly drink (I seriously think this is more of a feminine bar, not that it's a bad thing). My friends had a mango martini and mojito, which I had a sip of. They were great. Cocktails and shots are $7 which isn't that bad at all. I was just a little disappointed they weren't a little more stronger.

Anyway, this is one of my favorite spots in the city now and I think I will go here more often after the night I just had!

COZY. ---great for a small group of friends.  I would not recommend people who are claustrophobic to come here. It gets cramp and stuffy real quick.

GOOD MUSIC.--lots of variety and a great job of blending it all in. Perhaps it's a bit too loud for conversations. It's "cozy" plus LOUDER music means you'll have to scream.

GREAT DRINKS.--Get at those mojitos (mango is good). Yes, sweeet fruity mojito and they do not hold out on the alcohol.

FRIENDLY STAFF.--The guy who checks for ID is very nice, funny guy really. The waitress is very prompt and quick. I love how you don't have to order at the bar, a multi-tasking waitress comes by all the time. The bartender is superb for making great drinks.

I also like how there are Taxi's waiting outside of this place, in case you need it.

Best bar on 24th Streeet hands down!

Nice interior decor, good music, and great up-drinks.

I think this was my first real time being over 21 at a bar in SF.  Kinda strange huh that I don't venture out to the city all that often.  Anyway, it wasn't all that different from SJ at this place.  Being where this place was, I knew there wasn't going to be a great amount of young people our age.  But it was decent, most of them were probably under 30.

Tried the signature Lychee Lemon Drop, and it was actually pretty good and strong enough.  Although the server kinda had an attitute when I asked if we would pay for our drinks at the end instead of one after another.  Anywho, I got a Hef. and Stella (new beer that I tried which was bad).  Was feeling pretty good most of the night and was suprised towards the end of the night that the other private party in the blue room had started to dance with our group.

Cool and chill lounge bar. I  really enjoyed the atmosphere and the decor. Cute tables and chairs, the lighting added a nice touch. I must say bringing your own IPOD or lap top to play your music was very nice!!! My friend reserved the room in the back for her party and it was a lot of fun.

The service was good, I think our waitress was new because she took awhile to get back to us on our drinks. Overall Great Place!!
