Amanda Y. and I had a hankering for a big, juicy burger after petting the baby cows at The Farm's petting zoo earlier in the day. Just kidding, I'm sure our cravings were a coincidence. On our way back to the city, we took a detour into Mill Creek to grab a bite and we landed at Blazing Onion.
For an order at the counter, seat yourself kind of a joint, I thought the prices were a bit steep. My blazing onion burger and fries cost just under $9. The burger was tasty, but the fries could have used some seasoning or at least salt. Thankfully, their fry sauce managed to give them a little life. If you're not into beef, the menu seemed to have other options like turkey burgers or chicken.
I've found myself north of Shoreline twice in the two years that I've lived in Seattle, so it's doubtful that I'll be back. Nothing wowed me about the place, but then again, nothing truly disappointed me.
After trying a couple other burger places with ground chuck, I tried the Blazing Onion burger (not my choice but coworker ordering thought Bacon Burger was Onion Burger - when I asked for Onion Rings instead of fries)
This time I went for 2 patties - at least he got that part and the onion rings right.
Needless to say, after 2 patties, grilled onions and onion rings I am finally full.
The burger was cooked well done, a plus for me! It was still juicy, and in spite of no bacon, was good. If you like grilled onions on your burger - the Blazing Onion Burger is for you . . . now if it only had BACON on it!

Imagine that - you place your order at the "Order Here" sign! Just like the fast food Burger… Read more »
I went to BOB because I was at Mill Creek Town Center and a friend had highly recommended their burgers.
I decided to convince my 11 year old son to share a burger with me and we agreed on the California Bacon Burger - comes with guacamole, swiss cheese, bacon and, of course, the usual trimmings. I figured that at 1/3 lb it would have to be enough to feed us. We upgraded to the fries/rings combo and also ordered a side salad. My 8 year old ordered the itty-bitty cheeseburger kids meal.
Our food arrived and I cut that burger in half. After a couple of bites, I realized it was a mistake to share. We should have ordered our own!!!! (OK, I don't really need that 1/3 lb, but I could eat 3/4 of this burger and be happy.) The burger was well cooked, and had excellent proportion of meat to bun to sauce and condiments and it was very tasty. Really, it is at least as good as the "gourmet" burgers of a certain mega-chain and a few dollars less. The only downside was that the frings serving was kind of puny.
So, I'll be back and next time I'm getting my own burger thank you very much!
This was our Nephew's place of choice so we made the trip out North on his behalf.
So you arrive to a wall menu and you place your orders at a register station and go pick your own seat. They do deliver your order to your table but there is a sign upon your table that you have to put in a holder should you need anything else or want to run a tab for another beer. Thus meaning if you want more of anything a second transaction will need to occur on your card of which to me ensures I'll not order anything else which is really their loss in the end.
With the service concept in mind, this really makes me question the prices, I mean $8.15 plus for a burger seems pretty steep for me when it's more of a serve yourself type restaurant. Granted the burgers are good, don't get me wrong, but I rate on an overall experience and to be with little service, the mark up here seems pretty darn high.
I had the turkey burger and I have to agree with the other reviews, this was a moist and tasty treat. I am a big fan of sweet potatoes so another plus to be able to add that to my order instead of plain ol' fries and they were good, moist in the center but crispy on the outside. However, to have to pay an additional $1.20 for them in addition to the already steep burger price will make sure I don't come back. The only bonus is that they did clear the table for us although I was expecting to have to bring my tray to the garbage can myself as this is the fast food-este feeling they portray intially with the register ordering.
I guess there comes a point when price matters over taste and in this case, I just can't stomach paying $9.39 for a burger, even though good, with little service to support it. I mean I realize this is what I pay at Red Robin but I don't have to order from a register there, instead I am seated, served on, don't have to suffer a second transaction just to order a second beer. Overall convenience and service is a factor here for me.
This is by far the best burger I have ever had...and the BOB sauce is terrific! How can you go wrong with all of the choices for burger! Total WIN!!
I currently live in Mill Creek and it's nice being able to walk down and get a burger. They have a nice little patio that is fantastic in the summer as well. But I come here mostly because it's close and they now offer ostrich and buffalo choices.
For what you're getting, it's not cheap. You'll be paying about $12 a person to get a decent burger. So unless you are in walking distance to save on gas, it's not really worth your time to drive out of your way to get here.
They have an ok selection of beers on tap, but you'll be paying $4.25/pint for everything. Bottles are also $4.25 and $3.50 for domestics. It's nice to have a beer with your burger, but it's no drinking hot spot by any means.
3.5 if you live in close. 2.5 for the rest of the world outside the Soccer Mom Hell that is Mill Creek.
When my Blazing Onion Burger came out, I was a bit under-whelmed. The bun was very thick and the meat, a thin dry patty. There was supposed to be a "a pile of grilled onions" but I would say MAYBE a teaspoon of grilled onions. It was an OK tasting burger, but it was $8.19, plus I upgraded to sweet potato fries for another $1.20. My fiancee had a similar experience with the sweet hickory burger... decent tasting, but too much bun, meat was dried out and over-cooked.. I wouldn't go back for the burgers as they don't seem to be a good value for the money (Unlike Teddy's Bigger Burger in Woodinville), but I would go back to share sweet potato fries and a drink with friends. Getting my own refills was nice and convenient, bathrooms clean, but but not the best first impression for a burger.
It's gone downhill.
Prices have increased significantly, the upcharge for chili on the side isn't worth it since i swear the side cup o'chili has decreased in size twice, the patties have become smaller and lower in quality...and now they won't make the burgers rare anymore. Sad panda.
The kids that work here really bust their butts, too, so it bothers me to have to clamp down on the rating. Nevertheless, i feel like they expanded too fast in opening a second restaurant and jacked up the prices to match, and, well...guys, i can eat for less at Dead Robin. Or, uh, way less at Burgermaster.
If y'all would drop the prices a bit, or make it worth $15 for a burger/side of chili/soda, i'll be back. Until then, it's with great regret that i must assign two stars.
This place has a TON of burger options. SO many its actually hard to decide. Well, not really for me, since I am such a picky eater, and end up changing everything on a burger anyways. But for a normal person it would be hard. The first time I went there I tried their mushroom swiss burger, it was ok but not that great. The 2nd time, I had the bacon cheeseburger, it was good. The last time I went there though, I got the bacon cheeseburger, on ciabatta with chipotle mayo, and half french fries and half sweet potato fries. It was delicious.
The place has a lot of options to meet everyone's needs, and the prices are reasonable as well.
Plus, as I have mentioned before... I love Mill Creek town center. Its nice to eat in their outside seating when the weather is nice. Great place for a burger
Decent burgers, but rather pricey. The pros would be that they do great chicken and turkey burgers, the sweet potato fries and onion rings are top notch, and the service is generally quick.
the cons are that the burgers are always on the greasy side without being flavorful enough to warrant it, the place feels like a glorified fast food chain, and the layout makes navigating through it when it's crowded a pain in the ass.
If you're in the area and are craving a burger, Blazing Onion will hit the spot. But not a place you'd go out of your way for.
We have driven by many, many times and said, "we should try that place someday." Well, today we were out and about and we felt like getting a burger and Blazing Onion was kind of near our location. They have a pretty decent burger selection including one that has my favorites, bacon and fried egg on my burger. The bun looked different than store bought, I am not sure if they make the buns or have someone make the buns but they were good. My burger was a little bit overdone for my personal preference and that made it seem a bit dry. Other than that the flavor of the burger, bacon and condiments came through. I traded the sweet potato fries for regular french fries and they were also good. While I would not travel there just for a burger, it is a good burger place if you are in the area.
Two Questions:
1. Who's the mensa that came up with the name "blazing onion"?
2. What in sam blazes was I doing in Mill Creek, Washington?
First, the name (thankfully) sounds worse than the food. In fact, one of the better burgers i've had. Delicious char on the patty. Flavorful, decent size (could be bigger), with a shit load of condiments, garnishes, and zippideee do daaahhss..... Oh yeah... shit aint cheap.
Second, was actually in Everett visiting distant relatives....why they chose to live so close to sasquatch, i will never know. But the "town", if you can call it, is quaint, quiet, and situated in a nice brand spankin new plaza with shops and restaurants.
Anyhow, back to the food. Beer is ICE COLD. Chili, fries, pickles, and probably sesame seeds are all extra charges....hell, thats how they make a $5 dolla burgah into $14 PLUS..... Slick! Very typical sports bar fare food, which everything is DEEP FRIED....
If you sit outside on the patio, hopefully its not too cold...it was brisk but very nice when i was there. They even had some contemporary jazz in the background....
Would definitely get a Blazing Onion Burger again.....
Blaze it up!!! Ok, that was dumb but just had to say it. I think the ordering set up has been described pretty well by other reviewers already so onto the burger. It's basically your greasy burger except the meat is juicy, the bun is fresh and it just well, tastes better. They also have sweet potato french fries but it's not as good or spicy as the one at Kingfish Cafe. This is not a place for those who are on a diet for sure. Inevitably, after I finish stuffing my face, I end up regretting it because I have to pretty much work off a 765345678 calories the next time I hit the gym.
Pretty good food here. Good service and definitely better than eating fast food! Not bad if your looking for some good old American burgers and fries.
I really enjoyed my experience with Blazing Onion and would definitely recommend it to anyone in the Mill Creek area. Different from other burger joints, they offer regular fries or sweet potato fries (which are supposedly better for you than regular, but I'm assuming not by much).
Their ordering process is a little different from what you are used to - their menu is pasted along the wall next to a row of cash registers. And you don't have to wait for a overly-caffeinated waitress/hostess to seat you either.
If you're looking for a big burger to satisfy your cravings, definitely go here!
Burgers, fries and onion rings OH MY!!!
Burgers and sandwiches along with a few fine items such as grilled salmon, fish and chips, they even have a few veggie items to choose from. But God almighty dem onion rings are da BOMB!!!
A different approach to seating in this place, you give the host your name and the number of peeps in your party and then you chill for a bit, if it's busy inside. Once your party's seating becomes available you are then asked to place your order with the counter help. A tad weird, but it works. We didn't have to wait very long and the location of this new-ish establishment in the Mill Creek's "Creekside Village", located just north of the Central Market, it is clean and there's a nice bakery to check out next door while you wait.
Basically you serve yourself here, but there are "servers" who will bring additional items at your request, and of course are more than willing to sell you something else IF you are still hungry.
I had the steak-dip, subbing the steak fries for onion rings. Thank God I did, man those rings of crunchy goodness were worth cold-cocking the kid at the booth next to us, so that I could steal his serving. I kid, I kiiiiddd....kid if you are reading this, sorry about the bruise, but it won't leave much of a mark.... A nice light beer-ish batter on the onion rings, no gritty cornmeal on them, I really liked them, can you tell??
Overall a solid meal, the fries were good as well, but you must get the onion rings, you've been warned....
The food is decent but expensive. For the same price or less I can get the full deal at Red Robin. Blazing Onion is in a very convenient location for me, yet I tend to go elsewhere. Not memorable, but the burgers are pretty good.
It's nice to see someone actually concerned about their business.
I think the serve yourself idea was great. No waiting for a check you can go as you please. I think the idea of putting your own mustard and stuff on your burger is great because you know how much you want, some places just glob it on.
The burgers are great, and I am very picky with my beef. So picky that hamburgers, and ribs are about the only beef I will eat. I ordered the Bacon Cheese Burger. The prices are about the same as Red Robin. I liked that they use a real piece of lettuce instead of the lump of shredded stuff or as I call it a mini salad. I think the patties could have been a bit bigger, I like a big meaty hamburger.
Edit: I came back a second time to see what a busy hour would be like. It was actually pretty good, earning this another star. I am the type that will hide earplugs under my hair at noisy places, this was at a good noise level.
Yum! This is my once-a-month indulgence - they have a very unique list of burgers. You can even make the burgers more evil - like go from 1/3 lb to 1 lb burgers AND add thick peppered bacon strips! My favorites are the Blue (cheese) Burger and the Wisconsin Butter Burger.
For sides - OH! You can substitute the fresh-cut fries for beer battered onion rings and/or sweet potato fries. Even better - wash it all down with a microbrew. Then, if you're still not full, you can have a Reese's Peanut Butter Pie or banana split. Do it all while watching the Mariners or Seahawks!
Now you can probably see why I only go there once a week - I need about that much time to clear my arteries.
I give it 4 stars because I got slightly thrown off with the way you place your order. I'm used to it now but not everyone likes it.
What a surprise!!
Though I usually prefer to have a waiter, a menu, etc., the Blazing Onion did a great job. There was plenty to choose from--all sorts of burgers and sandwiches, so there's something for everyone (even a few options for vegetarians!).
The burgers were delicious! What could possibly be wrong with a burger on a toasted ciabatta bun with bacon, blue cheese, and garlic sauce? Nothing! Well, except for the fact that the burger was so big there was no way I could eat it all.
I like that the Blazing Onion gives you options. You can substitute your fries for onion rings or sweet potato fries, if you wish. I recommend the onion rings--they're beer battered, crispy, and tasty.
It's also nice that the Blazing Onion has a liquor license so you can wash down your meal with a beer or glass of wine.
It's not a fancy restaurant, but the food was really good and the people there were nice. It sure beats other burger joints (I'm talking to YOU, Red Robin!). Worthy of a repeat visit.
No service, you order and pay up front, burgers that aren't any better than Red Robin's (and it's all BO does) and price that's equivalent, what's the point? It's not bad, it's just not any better than your typical chain restaurant and costs at least as much.
I've always sought a replacement for the evil Red Robin empire, and now I have found it, and so close to home with no wait!
My favorite thing about Blazing Onion is that you walk up, order and pay. You get a number, sit down wherever you want, inside or outside, and wait for your food. You tip if you want, I always want to....
My favorite burger is the BBQ one with a seriously large chicken booby instead of beef arse, I mean hamburger. (OK, so I am not a big fan of red meat.) Their turkey burger is good, too. I LOVE LOVE LOVE their onion rings and fries with tartar sauce. Definitely try the fresh, not frozen onion rings.
Menu selection is amazingly huge, plenty of deserts to choose from, and not stupid mud pie (Red Robin), here you get cheesecake, piles of brownie and other stuff, cake, and did I mention the shakes are perfectly wonderful? Thick, but you can still suck em through a straw.
Eat here, enjoy, know you will be full, if not stuffed, but know it will be good and two people could do this with a shake for around $25 or less. Yummy!
I've been here many times. Every time I go seems like a new taste in their burgers. Their Famed Blazing onion burger is filled with juicy onions, delicious tamatoes, and REALLY juicy meat!! Their BOB sauce is really good too!
I went here based on the reviews on yelp. I am disspointed. The burger was slimy and average. It's the same size as a frozen patty you get at the grocery store. And the perfect circular shape reminded me I was eating a processed burger, not a hand pressed one. That's all well and good, if they charge you $6-$7 for it. This one is $8.19. Add the sweet potato fries, which were great BTW, and a medium soda, you are looking at $12.49. For a burger, fries and coke? C'mon. Yes, it's a nice, comfortable place. Yes, the staff is friendly. But, worth $8.19 for that little slimy burger? No thanks. If you are more into atmosphere and decent food and don't mind spending some cash, it's your place. But if you want a good burger for a good price, I would even suggest Chil's burgers.
It's kind of like Red Robin, but without the annoying crappiness. Spacious and speedy, the food is solid and consistent. The burgers are not as big as Red Robins, but at the same time they are just as tasty, but not heavy and greasy. The Onion also serves the option of sweet potato fries, which is a nice alternative for some.I personally am not a fan, but I appreciate any institution that reaches for a broader crowd. Speaking of crowd, there wasn't much during a midday Saturday. Orders are taken upon entrance so there's no need to wait for a server. And I'm not sure if they sing songs for you on your birthday, I'm giving them a full three stars (instead of 2) on the assumption that they don't.
A glorified burger chain, that's what I think of this place, except it's more expensive. Here's how it works: you take your order at the front till, get yourself seated, then wait for the food to be brought to you by the waitperson. That's it. Burgers are consistently greasy, and so are the fries. They just do not taste so good for me. Maybe because Red Robin spoiled me. But service is not so bad, and there are TV screens all around, if you're into watching the tube while eating. There's also a bar, if you want to wash down the burger aftertaste with beers. Because one can sit outdoors, I'll probably come to visit this place again sometime on a sunny day. Or not.
Love the Reuben Sandwich...Wow...yummy. the nicest people work there, and there's music and bands in the courtyard FORUM every Thursday evening in the summer...Check it out!
I am only a fan because I love their turkey burger. It is so hard to do a turkey burger without being dry. The turkey burger is made in house and served with their special house on a toasted wheat kaiser roll. I appreciate the mac and jack on tap, and since I live like a minute a way, it is nice to do take out late in the evening.
Just took my first trip to Blazing Onion Burger today for an early dinner with some friends. I ordered a Buffalo Chicken sandwich which was pretty tasty, though I would have liked it if the sauce had a bit more zing to it. One thing think is pretty cool about the place is that you can choose sweet potato fries or onion rings or a combo of regular and sweet potato fries with your meal. The sweet potato fries are pretty tasty and I tried some regular fries as well which weren't anything special. One of my friend ordered up a 1 lb burger which comes with 3 patties and was so big he couldn't fit the burger in his mouth and had to use the fork and knife on it. The prices for the burgers seemed pretty reasonable, and the food was very good overall.
basically a red robin mill creek without the color crayons and dirty bathrooms haha
My family loves this place! We usually go to Blazing Onion once a week and always get great service with even better food. The staff is always super friendly and one employee in particular even comes over to say hi to my daughter each time. The manager is also very personable and helps make our trip enjoyable. Nice family place too. I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants a good burger.
I enjoy blazing onion half the time that I go there... Sometimes it is great and others I leave very disapointed ... I would recomend going there when it is super buzy because the food it not as good as when they have the time to make it right! I love any of there variouse food items and find it to have a very fun enviornment when there is a good football or hockey game.
First, if David J. is truly the owner of this establishment, it is actually very pleasing to see that he's checking what the users of Yelp are saying about his establishment.
I don't think I'm particularly a picky customer, but when I make my order I expect it to be done correctly and delivered as ordered. I ordered their Turkey Burger with no mayo / secret sauce and requested Barbecue Sauce on the side instead. I had to repeat my order three times to the person at the counter, I knew I was going to probably get the wrong thing. The person at the counter that took my order got it wrong right from the get go and it took a little bit on the long-side to get my order in the first place. It went back and came back dripping with Barbecue Sauce. I didn't want to wait longer as I was on my lunch break from work so I just wiped off some of the sauce and ate my lunch. My Turkey Burger was okay and my fries were pretty good. My two coworkers enjoyed their burgers but one thought his fries were disgusting (I tried one and they were a bit soggy, mine were fine though) and the other one got 50/50 Fries and Onion Rings and liked both of them.
I am planning on giving Blazing Onion Burger Company another try and I will update my review with the results.
The burgers are pretty tasty, the fries (both regular and sweet potato) are so-so but I do dig the order like at any fast-food place but then get table side delivery. The bottomless soda's that you fill yourself are also a nice touch.
