1960 called, and it is looking for its lost member: Blake's. This place is a total throwback from the logo, the design of the building with hardly any tables, and the uniforms the employees wear.
Inside is fairly small and has the typical fast hamburger menu. Burger, fries, chicken in various forms. They also have an assortment of breakfast burritos server during all business hours, most with the customary green chile peppers on them. Side choices are onion rings, regular fries, or seasoned fries.
Burgers and chicken are made on a big flat open grill, visible from just about every angle inside. So expect a greasy burger, not one with a bbq flavor.
I tried some chicken strips and they were a pretty unremarkable frozen and fried chicken strip. They were made fresh and fine. The basket had more than I could eat, at least six or so strips, and a heaping amount of seasoned fries. The seasoned fries were rather salty, similar to a shoestring version of a curly fry.
Service was pretty good. Most items were being made to order so it took 4-5 minutes for everyone's orders. One weird thing was the drink machine was self serve, but the employee had to get you ice from behind the counter.
Overall, not a bad place and a change of pace from the more standard fast food chains. -

Burgers just okay...
But the seasoned fries and shakes (blackberry) great!
Burgers not better than in-n-out, but they are not bad tasting. Definitely better menu selection.
Prices not too high. -

Better than In-n-Out and Whataburger?! Well, it's still fast food to me.
The portion is great! But the staffs aren't exactly convinced that they are working in a fast food restaurant. Perhaps it was the late night effect, perhaps they just don't care since they are the only one still opened at night in a small town. -

If you're one of those people who drive by Blake's without blinking an eye, you're wrong. I don't know what you're wrong about but I'm guessing you think Blake's isn't worth your time. Okay well, yeah, you are wrong then.
Here's a secret - Blake's is our version of IN-N-OUT and in my opinion, they have better fries and more importantly they have onion rings, something that is sorely missing from IN-N-OUT. Don't get me wrong, I love that place too but I'm talking about Blake's now.
Here's another secret - They do a "grilled cheese" just like IN-N-OUT.
Here's another secret, Blake's isn't "fast-food". It's fresh and it's pretty slow actually and worth the wait.
Oh, and another secret - It's best right when they open and in Taos they open at 10am, so get there a few minutes later and enjoy the oven fresh bun (that's my big secret, the buns are freshest in the morning even though all the food is pretty fresh all day). I picked reviewing the Taos location because the ladies are real nice there. -

My husband and I visit Taos once a year and always have at least one meal at Lotaburger. The hamburgers and french fries are very fresh and made to order. Recently, we decided to try out their breakfast burritos. They were very tasty and huge. I had the bacon and egg one. It had two eggs, bacon, hash browns, cheese and red chilie sauce inside a flour tortilla. You can choose red or green sauce. It is not fast food. They make your food while you wait! It is very much worth the wait.

Way better than In-N-Out! I am so sad that LA doesn't have Blake's green chili cheese burgers. Plus the fries are so nice and crispy... yum
