4 reviews for Blackjack Pasta Bar
My friend and I ordered our meals via internet. They gave us free stuff like a free drink and free bread! Awesome. I got spaghetti and meatballs and it was yummy. He got Cajun fettuccine or something...but from the noises he was making, he seemed to like it.
Probably a little pricey for something that I can just make at home. But hey! Free delivery.
I hadn't ordered from Blackjack Pasta bar for a few months. So it was quite a disappointment when I saw the price increase but I decided to suck it up and continue with the order. I have had Blackjack before and it has always been good. As soon as the delivery guy handed me the bag, I knew there would be no leftovers.........a very light bag. Price increase plus portions reduced, equal a not very happy customer.
The chicken marsala with fusili, was filling and a generous portion for $10.95, it had chicken, mushrooms and ham in a delicious marsala sauce. Very tasty and reasonabley priced.
The other order seafood ravioli in the pink cream crab sauce for $15.95. That was a disappointment. TEN ravioli's(that's $1.595 a BITE!! and only 10 bites!) that were covered warm sauce with not much crab. Gotta eat it fast, cuz its already starting to chill. Not much to it so it will be gone fast, then I may have to share my yummy marsala......and I dont' want to!
The ceasar side salad for $6, was romaine, croutons and some grated cheese, with a packet of dressing thrown on top of the plastic container...disappointing. At least TRY to make it look like a ceasar salad by preparing it for me! The rolls were good anyway ...hot and fresh.
Will I order again? Not sure, there are lots of other fish in the sea, and I am not talking about fishy shaped raviolis!
So the bottom line is that I spent $40 on 2 take out meals and one of us was drooling while watching the other finish their meal. A disappointment. I called Blackjack to speak to the manager the next day and voice my opinion. He listened, that was about it.
Not a bad meal, but not worth the new high prices for the what you get.
It's slightly worse than okay in my opinion. I also didn't expect anything spectacular after seeing their reasonable prices, but this was worse than I thought it should have been. Everything is ridiculously greasy (in a bad way- i mean, since when is a grilled chicken sandwich greasy?!) and makes your stomach flip shortly after eating it. I would suggest to pass on this place- there's a lot of great, cheap places to eat in Boston, no need to waste your time here.
I feel bad giving such a poor rating to this place because I like the idea of a reasonably-priced restaurant that serves a variety of dishes with freshly made pasta. Unfortunately, they don't make much of an effort at this place. The fried chicken ravioli appetizer would have been great had the ground chicken inside not been so so dry. The wild mushroom porcini ravioli was way too salty.
The real clincher, however, was the "Blackjack" sandwich with prosciutto, mozzarella, tomato and pesto . The menu says that it's served on a baguette rather than a sub roll, but the "baguette" was completely white on the outside and totally soft. I think it was a parbaked roll that they hadn't finished in the oven. Anyway, the sandwich was awful. The proscuitto was very thickly sliced, and they put way too much vinegar on it, so I felt like I was eating raw meat doused in acid and served in raw dough. Nasty.
