Blackbird Inn
8 reviews for Blackbird Inn
This inn was beautiful, had a wonderful atmosphere, and the amenities were great for the size of the place. I really like B&Bs that don't look like a grandmother's attic bedroom, and this place is contemporary without losing its B&B appeal. Nice Mission/Craftsman style in the guestroom and common areas.
This is the second Four Sisters Inn we've stayed at, and it's wonderful that most of them offer special packages on weeknights and during the off-season. We got what I think was the largest King room for 2 nights for the price of 1. Our room had a working gas fireplace, *really* deep tub and private, secluded little outdoor patio. It ended up being $140/night, including tax. You probably can't even stay in a crappy motel in Napa for that price. Definitely check out the specials on their website.
The breakfast was nice, since it was raining and we didn't want to go outside so early. Plus, between the two of us, we saved $20 each morning on breakfast. Another perk is that the inn offers 2-for-1 deals on wine tastings in the area. Just check out the big table in the main fireplace room. We used a coupon from the Inn to get one free wine tasting at Artesa a few miles outside of downtown Napa.
We didn't experience much street noise, no more than usual for a small city. It's not secluded, but not unreasonable. The only noise complaint we had was specific to our room. The inn has a dumbwaiter that they use to bring plates up and down during breakfast. It makes a creaking noise, like an old elevator, and our room shared a wall with it. It wasn't terrible, but since my other half likes to sleep in, we might have chosen another room if we had known about the dumbwaiter.
Blackbird Inn in Napa is a great B&B run by the Four Sisters Inn group. You really can't go wrong when choosing to stay at a Four Sisters Inn, the service is great, they really make you feel right at home. The food was excellent, the breakfast each morning was plentiful, a great way to start a day of wine tasting in the Napa Valley.
While the street is noisy, like others have said, it wasn't so bad that I couldn't get a good night's rest. I wouldn't complain about the size of the TVs, I mean, who goes away to watch TV? I always find if funny when people complain about room sizes too - especially since it's a B&B; get out of your room and socialize with the staff and others that are staying there - that's half the fun of staying in a quaint little place like that! I get that some people might go there to get away and have a romantic retreat - but in that case all I'd care about is the company that I'm enjoying time with; not the size of the room and TV.
I did notice that in the afternoon, when wine and cheese are served, that the only other people that were there, came downstairs, poured their wine, and brought it back to their room - I enjoyed the wine with the company of my travel companion, outside on the lovely front porch, or in the living room, with the comforts of the roaring fireplace. We got to learn a lot about the area, speaking with the staff and just being social.
P.S. Janet was awesome, I had a great time talking with her and she really went above and beyond to ensure that we enjoyed our stay - she even personalized our turn-down service with the Napa forecast and our forecast at home (it was raining in Boston for most of our stay in Napa - what a great time to have gone away!!). By the time we came home to east coast, we each had personal emails from her, thanking us and inviting us to visit more of California's wine country!
Very nice and reasonably priced B&B with convenient central Napa location. The staff was very pleasant and eager to assist with any needs. The room was a bit smaller than I had anticipated but clean and very comfy. I had the room with the spa, but the spa was a standard shower/tub with the jets in the tub. I'm not complaining about it, but I had expected something a little bit more. The room was cozy and the breakfast was tasty and fresh. They have cheese and wine out for snacking during the day which is nice as well. The only minor cons I would point out would be the small TV in the room and the location is on the main strip so there was some minor street noise, but nothing that disturbed our rest. I'd recommend this place
A+ on rooms, rates, service. Great place to crash after a day of getting schwasted on the plonk.
Our stay there was fabulous. The inn keeper Emily was extremely help full. The location is on the loud side so its not the quietest location but its near downtown and that a plus.
Busiest street in Napa! noisy! cars all the time.
I would DEFINITELY stay here again! This is a cute little B&B tucked away in the wine country with excellent rooms/rates/service. Their breakfasts were delectable and the rooms were clean and comfortable. The tvs were a bit small, but if you're staying in Napa you'll probably be out all day wine tasting anyway.
We stayed here this past weekend. We were in room 1 which is their largest room. I would not recommend room 1 but I would recommend blackbird if you are looking for a reasonbly priced room w/ charm and comfort. The reason I would not recommend room 1 is because it is right next to the front desk. This is a converted house so it's not huge. You can hear the other guests checking in, etc. Also the dumb waiter runs along the wall of room 1 and it is very loud in the afternoon for the wine/cheese presentation and in the morning when breakfast is served. The room itself was very nice. Nice, king sized bed, fireplace and nice bathroom. There is a small deck off this room which we were planning on taking advantage of until we got there and realized it backed up to the parking lot and since blackbird is off of a main road you got a ton of street noise. We stayed at the four sisters Inn at Sonoma and prefer that one to the blackbird.
