The bowling alley is fab!  It's always filled with peeps!  The kids' arcade is pretty empty though.  They have quite a few prizes here (ticket based games), but they weren't all that appealing.  The have a wide variety of games though & their arcade's fairly large.

Their bathrooms are well maintained as well.

Black Oak Casino has a bowling alley.  A very nice bowling alley.  The prices for games are fair - though the bar is a different story, charging $5 for a bottle of Corona, what up with that?  Anyhoo, the basement bowling alley allows for us non-gambling types to have a good time while others gamble away.

Makes no sense the same Chef oversees all meal & beverage services and the buffet food is so bad....
the food down @ the bowling alley is no better.
The bowling alley is well maintained and very modern.
The casino itself is extremely nice and kept clean.
All bathrooms are well maintained.
The parking garage is wonderful though if one does park outside there is a shuttle that runs frequently.
Smoke free area is very appealing.  Have never used the arcade.
Must say I rarely gamble but they almost got me when I won 4 weeks in a row.  (went back 3 x's because I was playing w/their money)

An update on Black oak, past due really, since they've added the parking garage, and the new non smoking area much better. In fact, the non smoking area is one of the nicest of all the Indian casinos up here. One does well to bear in mind that these casinos (tribal) in northern California are to the large Socal ones as Reno and Tahoe are to Vegas. nice local establishments.

This place is just absolutely wonderful!!! When I go there, it is nice to know that my kids can go to their arcade or bowling alley while I'm upstairs playing slot machines at the casino! I just love going to the Black Oak Cafe which serves up a really good southern pulled pork sandwich for less than 7 bucks! Their arcade is pretty big and the prizes and wonderful and the bowling alley is very clean and has really good service I will definitely come back when I get my PTO!!!!!!!!! (paid time off)!!

My friends and I were staying in Twain Harte for Memorial Day weekend. After our spelunking adventure, we cleaned up, napped and headed out to fill our hungry tummies.

We saw an add for a steak and lobster dinner, and our tummies were feening for it. But when we got to the casino, we realized it was in their fine dining restaurant upstairs, and we weren't about to pay an arm and a leg for a meal in a casino. We settled for the Black Oak Cafe where they had an all you can eat prime rib buffet( http://static.px.yelp.... ). The food was just meh. The prime rib was overcooked and everything else was just your average buffet food. If you're really hungry, this is the way to go, but don't expect Vegas quality buffet food.

The casino itself wasn't too big. I ended up losing really fast in slots, but I made it up at the Blackjack table. I ended up winning a whopping $40!!! Winner, winner, chicken dinner!!!

The cocktail waitress came around to take our drink orders, so of course, we ordered. I got my $1 chip out ready to tip her, and when she came back with my drink, she said $4.50. Excuse me? Did I hear correctly? I'm being charged for my drink??? I guess the rules are different in Indian casinos. No freebies like Vegas.

If you're in the area, its an ok place to go to kill some time. Just watch out for those drinks...they're not free!

I enjoy coming to the casino and blowing a few bucks on the slots then going over and playing some pool. The black oak lounge has always had good food when I went, and the prices are very good.

Been to the buffet a couple of times, don't bother.
Went for a "regular" meal, there were about 4 other diners, got seated and no one every showed up to take our order.  A lot of waitresses standing around talking.  When I finally raised my hand, they all looked, looked at each other and that was that!  I counted to 20, and we got up and walked out.  Obviously they either don't need the money or were too lazy to walk over.

I was in Oakdale for a wedding at the Woodward Reservoir.. and while on the way to Oakdale I kept seeing signs for Black Oak Casino - on 08.08.08, I could not pass on the opportunity to go gambling on the "luckiest" day of the year. So of course, my boyfriend and I made the drive to Toulumne/Sonora.

It's a really small casino, but very nice looking and clean inside. It's way far and I would never go out of my way visit this casino.. at least I got lucky on 08.08.08! ;)

I am not a gambling woman, but I will go to a casino with my Grandma.  That is just what I did.  We went on her senior trip up to Black Oak.  As soon as we got off the bus, they slapped some stickers on us, so they could identify the bus we belonged to.  The program is a-okay, we got $10 in cash, 10% off the cafe, and 10% for the gift shop.  Complimentary drinks like soda and coffee are free, nice!  I just don't enjoy the loosing money and the smoke smell.  What I enjoyed the most was sitting outside the beautiful building on the benches with my Grandma looking at the trees and the sky.  Very true Native Indian of us.

I've been to a bunch of Indian casinos and this is one of my favorites. :)  It's not as busy as some of the other casinos so I can usually easily find slots that I like.  Never tried any of the food here though.  I must say that I also love the arcade by the bowling alley, even though it's always pretty empty.

My Grandma freakin' LOVES this place, and I hold her opinion in high regard, so I'm gonna say Black Oak Casino rules!

I've been here a few times, and have enjoyed every experience...especially since my grammy usually gives me money to gamble with, heck yea!

Their fine dining also has a very delish champagne brunch.

Believe it or not, it's my 9 year old's favorite hang out! Yikes, I know! But it's not what you think. You see, there's not much entertainment for kids around here and the family center downstairs in the casino is really great!

For his 5th birthday, we had a party. Great rates, tons of excellent well-made pizza, lanes to ourselves for two hours and an arcade with tokens too.

We've come back several times since then and for his 9th birthday, guess what? We did it again!

I've heard great things about the Seven Sisters Restaurant, so I'll have to hold my breath (through casino smoke) to get up there for dinner one day and have something else to add here.

Well I guess it's about time I write a review on Black Oak Casino. Have been here a few times when I used to work in Sonora. Win some, lose some, break even, I'm happy. Very good food here, have always enjoyed it. The best time spent here was taking my car in to the dealer in Sonora and getting a loaner which I promptly drove to the casino. Having my car serviced must have been my lucky day cuz I came away a winner. It paid for my service and put an extra 150.00 in my pocket. Now that's what I call a good day.

LOATHE!  LOOOOAAAAATHE!!!  This place is completely awful.  I passed the construction of the temp building on the way to school every day my senior year of high school.  I haaaaated it!

And now, since they have the giant fancy permanent building, a huge parking lot, and all that, they had to rearrange Tuolumne Road just for the casino so that no one drives into Tuolumne anymore.  It makes my heart sad.

Did I mention it's a high school reunion for me?  Yeah, 15 years too soon.  I love you all, but I can't dig on the casino.  Plus, it's completely smoke-filled.  No thanks.

The only reason I will permit myself to enter this establishment is to see Fast Times (the 80s cover band) perform at the Willow Creek lounge, and even then I usually go with my parents!!

I've been here a few times while staying in Twain Harte and it's just another casino, but the jewel here is the downstairs bowling alley. They have quite a few lanes, new shoes and bowling balls and a nice bar setup. If you like to bowl or want to hang out in a sports bar environment, migrate downstairs to the bowling alley/bar.

I'm not a gambler, however my visits to Black Oak have been positive from reasonable food, friendly staff, great entertainment, bowling.

My con is that I do not enjoy walking through the casino filled with cigarette smoke.

The entertaiment venue is "Smoke Free"

Pretty decent selection of slot machines available here. Also, the arcade was pretty neat and I played a few games there and ended up winning a ton of tickets that I exchanged for stuffed animals and other arcade prize stuff. The Player's club line was able to manage a pretty long line efficiently.

This review is about The Mill restaurant downstairs in the casino, opposite the bowling alley.

First off, for the positives which collectively earned the single star. The service was basically fine: we got our food in a timely manner, but drinks weren't always promptly refilled. I liked the atmosphere: it's a sports bar, and there's a huge monster TV on the wall plus many smaller ones, and all the usual sports paraphernalia on the walls.

Unfortunately, I can honestly say that I have had few meals of such abysmally low quality as the dinner I had here. We started off with an appetizer of Red Tail Ale deep fried shrimp, and they looked very nice: of reasonable size, nicely browned, and served with a pinkish dip (supposedly Chipotle Mayonnaise). This wasn't bad, but it wasn't good: the shrimp were basically loose inside the batter and they'd always drop out after the first bite. The outside was less like a batter and more like a hardened shell: I strongly suspect that no battering was done on the premises, and that some frozen product was dumped straight into a deep fryer, making for a nice look but poor taste. The pink mayonnaise was just that: it was like dipping stale, chewy batter shells into mayonnaise. If that sounds like your kind of appetizer, this is your place!

A step down from the hard and chewy batter shells were the fish tacos. I didn't imagine that I would ever have occasion to wish that a place was using a heat lamp, but here I am: the fish tacos arrived cold to the touch, and I mean _cold_, not even room temperature. The fish itself was literally tough, as in hard to chew. Thinking back on my life, I can't think of a time when I ever had fish that was so hard to consume- each bite was a mini-workout for my jaws, as I was forced to grind up each miserable bite of fish after I forcibly tore it off from the rest of the taco. I think I forgot to mention that again the presentation was nice: the food looked good when it arrived, and on touching it I was shocked that it was so nasty.

Finally, I had dessert, and it was no better. I ordered a fruit cobbler with ice cream, and that turned out to be a plate of warm granola with a few nuggets of fruit underneath a rock hard demi-sphere of vanilla ice cream. After using my knife to chip off pieces of the ice cream into the granola, it finally thawed out enough to become edible, but the lack of fruit was most disappointing.

Afterwards we went up and had some fun losing a few bucks at the casino, but you could not pay me enough to eat another dinner at that restaurant downstairs. I strongly recommend that you avoid it.

A great mid sized casino with FREE live entertainment four nights a week.  Not just for the gambling/night life crowd though.  It has a huge bowling center, arcade, and four restaurants.  You can get everthing from burgers and pizza at the sports bar (lots of giant screen TV viewing) to cafe style food or buffets and even gourmet choices in their upscale restaurant, Seven Sisters.  Gift shop with a variety of items including Native American crafts, Casino logo merchandise, and general gift items.  If you live in the southern Mother Lode region or the Central Valley it's a short scenic drive to Tuolumne.
