4 star to the restaurant.
the outside patio sits nicely overlooking at the fountain (or waterfall), 10th and 18th green. It's relaxed landscape makes a perfect late breakfast or brunch site.
Also the food is pretty good for a golf course. My favorite place for late breakfast with family on weekends...

This is a review on the site as a wedding venue.  My good friends just got married here this past weekend and everything turned out great!  The wedding location was beautiful and the reception room was a good size for their wedding (~120 guests).  The coordinator there (Julie) was really sweet and did a good job of telling us what to do and where to go.

The only downfall is that it's kind of hard to find!  I think a lot of the guests got lost because the location is so new that navigation systems don't pick it up.  Other than that, it was a beautiful wedding at a great location!  :)

This is where I have been spending my weekend afternoons in the past month of April.

Tiffykat & I have been talking about for almost a year that we should take golf lessons and we finally have and did.

The lessons itself aren't that long - 1 hour but you are free to stay after and practice. Be sure to bring your own clubs -although, they do provide you with some if you don't.

First week - we learned how to put & how to hold the club.

Second week - we learned how to use some irons and to pitch. Our feet has to be close together with 60% of our body weight leaning on our left side of our body. Then the ball has to be slightly to the right of us. Learned about the pitching wedge, 9 iron, 8 iron. The bigger the loft - more air time the ball gets and less it rolls and vice versa. We learn to just move our upper body like a pendulum - no wrist action.

Third week - we learned how to chip & produce a bigger swing - this time - wrist action. This week, the stance is different - our feet are wider apart and the ball is in the center of our stance.  We learned the toe of the club has to be facing up - we learned about the 2 L's that our arms have to make.

Fourth week - Tiffykat and I unfortunately both missed it. This was the fun class too..where we learned how to drive the ball. Ahh well.

I'm sure if we wanted - we could have taken a makeup class on Tuesday night...but due to traffic and work - I would have never made it there on time.

I give this 4 stars more for the place itself than the classes being taught here.

I thought the fires hit this wonderful course. I was wrong. Now that it is still standing after the catastrophic fires, it is a sign from the golf gods that you must play this course. Some of my greatest moments as golfer occurred here.

-2nd hole, 98 yards from a thick like with my feet in the bunker. Boom goes the dynamite hole out eagle.

-Eagle on the spectacular 18th. On in two, five foot putt and in.

They don' t call Black Gold Black Gold for nothing.  This place is Gold.

This is one of my favorite golf courses to play in SoCal.  The course layout is great, every hole is quite different (lots of change in elevation).  I believe carts are mandatory b/c of the elevation change.   Also, although the times I've played the wind wasn't an issue, I think I hit it on good days (I think Yorba Linda is known for wind).

This course is not very forgiving (you push the ball left/right, you'll lose it no doubt).  And think twice about going in after your ball in the brush--this terrain is prime territory for rattlers.  If you aren't spot on with your irons, plan to bring extra balls here.   Definitely not a course for beginners.

The clubhouse is attractive and food here is excellent.  Kudos to the main chef--some of the best golf course food I've ever had is from Black Gold.   Booya!

Really, when it comes to golf in Yorba this place is a great option and makes for a great day of golf.

Its all about the Ahi Tuna sandwhich!! the spot appears to be a private country club but any regular off the street can walk in and feel ritzy. I think lunch is very reasonable and the service is top notch as long as they know you walked in the front door. If you walk into the cafe, make sure they know where you are sitting. I would suggest the 18th hole view on the outer deck for a pleasant lunch.

definitely a good spot to go for a business lunch. The waitresses are cute too.

the bathrooms are awesome as well, they have a dispenser for mouth wash and hand lotion.

If you are lucky, you can mooch off the leftover "warmup" balls at the driving range.

Played 2/11/09.  Got off early and had to try it out since hearing so much about it.  Course is in great condition, with the exception of 1/2 the greens on the back 9 and the shorter par-3 tee boxes.  Fairways are lush and beautiful.  Layout is great.  I would definately recommend coming out to check it out right now.  Cart girl must have come 6-7 times during the round.  Always can find a deal online.  All green fees include some range time and a cart.  Come on a nice sunny day and enjoy the course and the views.

Wow.
This place is pretty tough.
It's gorgeous and exciting and adventurous.
It kicked my butt and defiantly want to go back and conquer it.
And, they make a great club sandwich and fries. Ooh yeah, the fries.

A couple notes*
The bunkers: You can get out with out digging out all the sand. Skim it enough and you can be on the green.
The rough: Bring a lawn mower because the shit is thick. I'm a big guy, and I've knocked down bigger guys. But getting through this rough with with a 3 1/3 wide 5 oz. chunk of metal moving at a speed of 100+mph is not enough. Well actually, it is enough. You can get out, but you won't get far. After the front nine I had to club up extra and some times that wasn't enough.
The fairways are fast. Which can be a good thing or at time bad. Good that it can give you some serious distance on a down hill roll towards the pin. Bad, if a center fairway landing puts you in the cabbage from a right or left slanting run. Ugh.
Their greens were still recouping from the punching they received a couple weeks ago, so that was was.
Like I said, I wanna go back.
Must. Conquer.

One star is too much for the dining experience. The chef should be fired and should have been ashamed to show his face at the wedding we attended. He confidently walked amoung the guests asking if the dinner he prepared,  was good. How do you prepared frozen defrosted pre cooked meat? I ended up sick at 1 am! Thanks chef shit-slinger!

The golf course alone is nice but you wont find it on a map. The employees need to be better organized when setting up for a wedding.

All in all...nice location and beautiful grounds....If you are a golfer!

This is one of the best public golf courses in Orange County.  With that being said, it's also one of the most expensive for a non-resort course.

It's well maintained and the greens are fair.

The layout is challenging.  Wind is a factor later in the day.  Some great hillside views.

I can't complain too badly about this course.  I shot my first eagle here on my last time out.

Clubhouse is a nice facility.  Friendly staff.  They just recently resodded their driving range.  At least I think that's what they were trying to do.

Well, this is where we got married and had our reception.
Julie, Megan and the entire event staff at Black Gold are the most amazing people any Bride could ask for!
I never thought anyone could be more organized that me, but Julie proved me wrong! We were a match made in heaven!
Julie made sure that I had NOTHING to worry about, including keeping track of my drink the entire night - she did that for me!
If you want ease and a worry-free event, as well as a breathtaking backdrop to your special occasion, call Julie!
People are STILL talking about the food that chef Larry cooked up for my 175 guests. My aunt is a HIGH, HIGH UP exec for Xerox where she gets to travel to all parts of the world. She said that our appetizers were the best she had ever had! The Filet Mignon was cooked just right and the Chicken Oscar was baked to perfection! We did a sit-down dinner but they do buffet style as well.
There are several packages to choose from, including packages that include the cake and open-bar!
Panaramic views of all of Orange County out to Catalina on a clear day!
Again, Amazing!

On the pricier side but I love this course. Probably my favorite course of all time. It has a  good practice facility and its pretty new so all the facilites and carts are nice. I think this is one of the best places to play in socal. The only bad experience I have had here is that I once got stung by a bee on the neck which ended up hurting like a bitch but not really their fault. I had a good time though.
