Review from Steffanie C.
New York, NY
I love camping here. I just wish it wasn't so expensive. At $35 a night, I can get other places for $20-25. Only over a holiday weekend have I dealt with people blasting music all night, which is why i stay away on holidays. Its a great location on the water, and across the street from the tinker times tubing co (a must btw) you can go hiking, and go shopping in town which is very cute. Bathrooms do need improvement. And if your lucky you get a visit from the bears (they don't even bother you). Just stay away on 4th of july I'll go the week after

Black Bear Campground is centrally located in Phoenicia, NY right next to the bridge over the Esopus Creek. Most of the sites are pretty small and not necessarily conducive to groups. We had a group of 6 and it was pretty tight. Prices are reasonable at $15/night/person. If you want to do some car camping and are opposed to getting a cabin or rental home in the area, this is a really affordable option. Centrally located to tubing places, fishing holes, restaurants, and small grocery shops. I didn't really feel like I was roughing it until I went to the bathroom (which was overflowing and really, really dirty - ew). I'd spend some more time up here, but if I really wanted to go camping, I'd probably try somewhere else.
