BJ's has its good points and bad points...but I think I finally figured out when to eat here.

The only time I usually come to BJ's now is between 3-7pm on weekdays...HAPPY HOUR!  Most of the time if you get there before 5 you don't even have to wait for a place to sit.

    Happy hour specials include:

$1 off draft beer and cocktails
    $2 off appetizers
    Half off mini pizzas

Add all those up and you can have a whole meal for a whole lot less than usual.  They will let you order your mini pizza just about any way you want it...I order mine with white Alfredo sauce, pepperoni, black olives and extra cheese.  Totally amazing.

I also consider their fried artichoke hearts the best I have ever had...today during happy hour I had two orders.

Its a bit crowded in the bar area for obvious reasons and sometimes it can get a bit loud but really come on..its happy hour.   That's what it's all about, right?

Terrible service. Went there twice. First time waited 30 minutes, they seated the four of us at a booth and highchair seat wouldn't fit. Told us sorry no other tables available. 20 min later we got another table.

Second time there we called ahead and they told us 45-50min. We spend 45 min  walking around keeping our kids distracted then go in to get our table. The kid tells us "ok here's your pager, it will be another 45-50 minutes"! He said other people called in ahead of you. That makes ZERO sense! Never going there again for some giant cookie.

Showed up at 2:35 on Monday. Not terribly busy but I needed a high chair. The host took me to a booth, again, I said I needed a high chair, he asked if a booster would be OK. NO, I need a high chair. He said I would have to wait then..."but look" I said, "there are 10 empty tables by the bar"....oh, let me ask the manager if it is OK....Manager laughed, of course its ok dipshit, just give the people a table. It took 10 minutes to get a seat when only 1/2 of the restaurant was full.

10 minutes to get a server to acknowledge us (Desiree)
Took another 15 minutes just to get a beer and at least 20 minutes to get our side salads... the pizza was only 5 minutes later.
Normally, I would give 4 stars here but today was a bust.

We had a problem with our food it was reordered, manager and
Server couldn't have been more helpful.

If I can label this review it would be called "packed"... freakin' packed! My girlfriend, my friend and his girlfriend, and I went to BJs on a Friday night. It was packed... at the waiting section!! The restaurant was absolutely packed. We were told the waiting time would be 45 minutes. 45 minutes isn't bad if there is a bar section to sit down at while waiting. However, their bar area is filled with typical suburbanites who refuse to go to any of the other bars in Oxnard. We were fortunate to find a table by the bar within 20 minutes of being there. It took us 30 minutes to receive our first drink and then another 20 minutes to get our food. The blonde beer I ordered was delicious. The pizza on the other hand had burnt crust and cheese which made it taste like one of those dry pizzas you get from gas stations. I should've asked if they had super unleaded gas and air fresheners.

The best time to go BJs is during the week around 3-7 when the place is less than full and you can actually enjoy the food, beer and service. Since this is my first review of BJs I want to add that experience, if not, I would probably give my last experience two stars.

    It is what it is....

Beer food and guffaws and guffaws and beer food....maybe even a cackle or two....I never cease to look around for these public displays of beer cheer when I come to any BJ's. Blame it on the beer....

Ok, so the service here is great. Really. The wait can be long as it was this night. Look at it this way. Don't those buzzer thingies they hand out to alert you when a table is ready make you feel all important and special? Yes, the wait can be long. But the service helps you forget. And oh so do the drinks haha!

I will give them four stars because the service is so good and because of the company I had this night. Delena you are the best!

Buffalo wings & jerry burst great combo ! Pizza is pretty good and so are the salads..can't complain. Finishing the meal with a pazoooki !

I have eaten alot of the food here as the place I worked at insisted on ordering food here

    1. Pizza - tends to be undercooked cheese is not melted properly

    2. Pasta usually bland

    3. Calzone - decent quality

    4. Grilled Burger melt - best food I have eaten at BJ

If you eat here stick to the burgers and sandwiches

The menu is too big to expect the cooks to be good at cooking everthing

Ordered curbside to go but it is not available after 9pm due to safety issues, so I had to go in to the takeout counter.

So unhappy with my experience at BJ's! I really REALLY hope a manager might actually be reading these comments.

    1. 35 minute wait.
Ok, I get that we didn't put our name on the list, and that it looks like all of Oxnard came to BJ's for grad dinner. The bar was packed, dining room packed, waiting area packed. Such a huge restaurant, how could it take that long to funnel people through??

    2. Not enough places to sit while waiting for a table.
It's bad enough to have a 35 minute wait. Then you don't give them enough room to sit?

    3. Our waitress was SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWW.
Now I understand why there was such a long wait. We were at that restaurant for 2 hours. Most of it was spent waiting on her to take our order, or bring us our check.

    4. Our server took twice as long to bring us our beers since she could barely lift the pitchers. She walked like she was going to fall over at any moment.

    5. Waitress hand-off.
Who wants to switch waitresses half-way through? The first one was slow, the second wasn't much better because she appeared to have other tables under her watch. Once again, we got ignored.

The saving grace was our food.
    The service SUCKED.

We had outstanding service last time we were here. Food was also great. Prices are what you'd expect, though it got a little pricier than we'd expected ($171 with tip for 7 adults and 1 child)

But I hate how long you have to wait...we even called 30 mins prior to going to make a reservation and we still had to wait 20 more minutes.

But since we got some free pizza while waiting and great service, I'm giving 4 stars instead of 3

Usually I like the food and service at other BJ's chains but trying to make a reservation here was a nightmare. I understand that on Friday evenings things can get pretty hectic and I'm trying to be forgiving of that but my experience with this chain was very disappointing.

I called about an hour in advance in order to make a reservation for 10 people and was told by the hostess that in order for any reservations to be made it must be done 30 minutes in advance.

So I called 30 minutes later and was told that they could not book reservations for that time since my party was 10 or more. I informed that when I called earlier I was told I had to call 30 minutes before arriving. After expressing my disappointment with being told two different things I was offered to be put on the waitlist for that time slot but that they couldn't guarantee that I would have seats but they would keep me on the list until that time.

So to add icing on the cake when I arrived I found out I wasn't even put on the list at all and had to wait just like everyone else to be seated.

If you're looking for reliable customer service this might not the best place for you even if the pizzookies are yummy I rather attempt making mine at home

BJ's...wow, sure hasn't changed one bit [at least the one in Oxnard]. This place was like thee place to have dinner/lunch with friends back when we were in H.S./early college years and I got tired of going.  Years later, I recently went back [Last night] for a get together with some old friends and service sucked!  Okay, so we had reservations at 10 P.M. and got seated fast, the waitress took our drink order and freaking took forever to give us our drinks, even just water.  Everyone at the table was getting impatient, because it was late and we were hungry and we haven't ordered our food.  When we did order our food, it took even longer for us to get our damn orders...someone in our table got their order 10 minutes after we all got ours.  The service last night was just so HORRIBLE, they weren't even busy like how the place usually would be - empty tables everywhere!

    *Food:
Last night my bf and I shared the Thai Salmon: Wow, I LOVE salmon, but damn, they did not cook it right, it was too dry = OVERCOOKED the Thai salmon consists of Spicy Thai sauce, white rice, snow peas, carrots, red bell peppers and onions topped with fresh mango salsa, everything about it just didn't taste as great as I thought it would have... = DISAPPOINTED

Pizza: I remember trying their pizza once and I hated it, it's too doughy for my kind of pizza.

Sandwiches: I've tried a few of their sandwiches and they weren't bad at all, maybe I'll stick to sandwiches that's if when I do go back...

Calamari: YUMMY! I love CALAMARI, and there's were good , the down fall was I paid $9.25 and the portion was mother freakingly SMALL! I'd rather go get calamari at Kabuki, at least their portion is decent for the price whether it's happy hour or not.

Alcoholic Beverages:  Their prices in drinks are not bad at all.  A shot of Patron was $8-9; it's usually $10-12 in other places.  My best friend and I also got the White Gummy Bear shot and it was only $6.50 and the bartender gave us more than a shot, it was like 2 shots put into a big shot glass = Awesome!

Why 2 Stars? well, prices in alcohol is one star, taste of calamari [some places aren't great] is another star, service is minus one star, but pazooki adds back up the 2nd star....

Overall Experience: If you love BEER, this is the place for you. If customer service is important to you, don't go here; you're going to end up walking out being P/O'ed.

For a sunday night, it was really busy. Oh, and there was a game on TV so that's probably why. We waited about 15 minutes for our table but when we were seated the waiter was extremely nice, and funny. I think his name may have been Devin? Either way our meal was great and the service was above par.

    We ordered (and really enjoyed):
    Avocado Eggrolls
    Turkey Club Sandwich
    Tomato Bisque soup

I love going out to bjs especially with big groups. Their food is good and reasonable prices to.

I usually order pasta. My favorite is the cajun shrimp pasta. Always a big portion and can never finish all of it! Shrimp scampi is also really good. I am really big on honey mustard and they have one of my favorites especially with their chicken wings or chicken tenders. The best!

Their drinks are also really good and decent prices. Their famous strawberry splash has to be one of my favorite drinks. I usually always order one when I'm in their.

This is a good fun place to eat at for either lunch or dinner. The have a big menu suitable just for everyone

So hard to give this place a really bad review.

OK, the bad things about BJ's, very corporate, horrible location (strip mall, c'mon), and the people who frequent this are the archetype of Suburbanites.

Good things about this restaurant, however bad some of their food is, they do have a big menu. So that's one star right here.

Another hard earn star is the simple fact that they brew their own beer, I have to give recognition to that. As sad as that sounds, it is the only brewery in Oxnard, WOW. Beer is also unique!

The third star goes for their service. Waiter we had today was awesome, not pretentious what so ever, very friendly, thanks Jeff, you made this restaurant fly tonight. Also one of the few places in Oxnard that is open past 10:30pm, Thanks BJ's for opening my eyes to what I have to do in the next couple of months!

I HATE THIS PLACE, the food is great but thats about it.

I haven't been to this place in two years do to HORRIBLE service. Yes the food is great but bad service leaves a bad impression so no matter how good the food is the service tarnishes everything else. I wont go here for drinks or anything not even for families b-day.

Also you have to worry about stupid dumb asses who cant go a night without turning an argument  into a fight. I hate the fact that I have to watch out what I do or say because some dumb ass wanabee homie cant seem to get over the fact that they are not in high school anymore and resorts to violence.

This place is sad and pathetic by no fault of its own but by the stupid customers (and  workers) who ruined this location. I have never had or seem the problems that plague this location at any of the other bj locations in LA.

I've been here many times. It's always packed but if you don't mind the wait you won't be disappointed. Food is excellent and service is great. My only gripe (besides the waiting time) is that food could be cheaper.

It does get a bit noisy but it doubles as a sports bar. I love sports so I don't really mind all the extra stuff going on.

Too bad BJs didn't think to make the place bigger.

This place is a staple of Oxnard, one of its' core restaurants as you can tell if you frequent this place anytime on a weekend evening.

I've visited this place a few times for food and drinks. Their food is ok. Its honestly nothing special. Their pizza is good but not great. I can easily point to Toppers or Dominck's as having much better pizza. Their pasta is mediocre. Their avocado rolls I do like.

One of the strong points of this place is its' large selection of beers (naturally since it is a brewhouse). The problem is that it is not the best place to have drinks with friends, even in the bar area. They have good selection but the setup of the locale doesn't invite for an atmosphere of relaxed socialization. It is mainly a restaurant after all.

In conclusion this place is ok, but I don't think the large number of people justify the quality of this place, probably just a thing of habit to come to this place.

I am totally going out on limb after reading all the other reviews but my experience was that good.

First, you won't catch me anywhere after 4pm that serves alcohol in Oxnard...its a rule and I'm happy with it!

With that said, my Saturday afternoon experience was perfect.  I can't give a chain 5 stars AND the phucing place was so cold and we said something twice and we got nothing. The answer is NOT, "funny, when I started working here I thought it was so cold then when I'm running around serving people I get hot."  GREAT, the employees are comfortable as I the paying customer can't feel his nose are ears.

Other than that, my man Bobby was ON IT.  He was a great server in terms of personality and service!

We were were there for college football happy hour.  The prices were great, multiple games on, beers never empty and great food.  I said it, "great food".  I know its a chain and worse, its BJs.  We had calamari twice after that at 2 different seafood restaurants and it wasn't even close.  The calamari was not fishy and NOT at all rubbery.  It was super fresh with a light breading that complimented the calamari perfectly.  The lemon aoli  was downright delicious as was the spicy marinara.  We also got a personal pizza that was excellent, really light and airy crust with a light butter bottom to the crust and a perfect balance of sauce cheese and toppings.

I came here with my family the Saturday of Father's Day weekend and waited approximately 20 min to get seated (which is reasonable for dad and grad weekend). I ordered the traditional calzone and it was delicious :) I also tried some of my family's chicken entrees and it was tender and juicy. I would come again for the fast service and well-cooked food.

Let's go to BJ's!  B/c it is a good place to meet up with friends to consume average tasting food.

I have to mention how BJ's reminds me of a place where you come here after a high school dance because it was the "cool" place to go to.

Now, it is a well-known place to hang out and do some social drinking.  They have a decent selection of beers and cocktails and also encourage you to chill out!

    Good place to watch sports.
    Friendly waiter service.
    Warm Atmosphere.
Type of food:   Burgers, pizza, grilled chicken
    Dessert:  GET THE PIZOOKIE TRIO!

This is a cookie-cutter franchise of a fairly large chain, so don't expect anything especially different here from any other BJ's.

That said, BJ's serves a tasty variety of beers - mostly their own proprietary brews, but the raspberry lambic is also notable.

The pizza is only average at best and most of the specials are doused in barbecue sauce or alfredo, but if you're very specific when you order, you can usually kluge together something decent.

The Pizookie is a dessert to be reckoned with. If you want to order one, you should plan to split it with someone. It is a huge, deep-dish cookie, served hot out of the oven with two scoops of ice cream on top. Try to have someone on hand who can roll you out to the car at the end of the evening.

About a month and a half or so ago I came  to Bj's with my sister (I just never got around to Yelping it again cause for some reason I've been distracted--or Lazy whichever way you wanna put it! Haha) and I ordered the Spicy pasta with Chicken.

I know I asked for Spicy but what I got was COMPLETELY inedible. Spicy to me means enough heat to at least give the feeling of a bit of a ember in the back of my throat but I guess the cook at Bj's thinks it means LETS LIGHT THIS SUCKER ON FIIIIRE!

I couldn't eat it. It really WOULD'VE been good if it wasn't covered in so much heat.

I like BJ's for other aspects and other things they've got on their menu Like the Spinach Artichoke Dip and a few of their deep dish pizzas and maybe a few of their cocktails and beers but I've had to knock a star off because well.. they don't really impress me much anymore.

Service still leaves something to be desired.

The funny thing is, I know I'll still be going to BJ's but I don't have much of a choice for restaurants out here. Its this or Fridays/Chili's.. PFFT yeeah right.

I could go to Olive Garden, Red Lobster or The outback but I'd rather not make my bank account cry.

Look, catch me a few years ago this place would have been a 4 or a 5.

    Let's talk about BJ's,

I used to love it, avacado eggrolls, are so rich and lovely..

Pizookie - Godiva chocolate and chocolate chip, YES!

    Oh yum, their burger sliders,

tomato bread bowl soups, chili not half bad.

crispy chicken sandwich, early adolescent years.

Then I burnt out on it,

not to mention I was infatuated with chicken ceasar sandwich that they had, until they discontinued it.

It only took the one time I got food poisoning from it to make me very weary about going back there, and then...My co-worker got seriously ill after eating a ceasar salad there too a week afterward, what the Hell BJ's? Coincidence? I dont think so.

Or the condescending waiter I've had once, or the other one who was just too damn fake-polite it made me want to barf, or the bitchy mid-life crisis waitress who wreaks of cigarettes every time we go just started to get to me.

I'm going to safely say that, BJ's in Oxnard blows, but other BJ's I've been too have kept up to par with standards and food, don't get me wrong it's good stuff, just don't go the one here.

This was our first experience at B.J's and I would definitely go back.  Our friends had suggested going to dinner on a Saturday night (they have been before) and said we should probably go around 5:15 to beat the crowd!  When we arrived there was already a crowd waiting for tables.  So off we went to the bar with our little beeper for our (according to the hostess) approximate 20 minute wait.  My hubby and friend had their blonde beer (not sure of exact name) and myself not being a beer loverr had a sip and it was pretty good!  While we waited, we started thumbing through their huge menu with lots of selections.

We were seated at a great large round booth located by a window in about 15 minutes.  I highly recommend when you arrive for any meal, see if you can get a table serviced by Dillion.  What a great waiter!  He gave us a little run down of BJ's since it was our first time there and he seem to really like working for this company.  Somehow the subject of root beer came up and he said they make a fantastic one.  My husband asked for a sample and he ended up bringing two large glasses for each couple to share!  It was very yummy.

We ordered their hot wings and while they were a little spicy for me, the guys really liked them.  My hubby ordered a thin crust basil and cheese pizza as he knew he would be eating at least 1/2 of my delicious barbeque chopped chicken salad - which was huge!  The size of their salads put California Pizza Kitchen's to shame.  My friend ordered their Italian deli salad (think that is what it was called) and she took at least half of it home.  Her husband had the beef dip sandwich with huge delicious steak fries.

Dillion came over several times to check on us and my friend jokingly  mentioned ice cream would be great in the root beer.  Not five minutes had passed and here came Dillion again with another "sample" root beer with a huge scoop of vanilla ice cream!  She was in heaven.

Dillion brought our check and said there was no hurry, just wanted to give it to us when ever we were ready.  We felt no pressure to leave, even though there was a lot of people waiting for a table.

We will definitely go back to B.J's as I really want to try their deep dish pizza, which is a one of their specialties.  Sure hope Dillion will be working!

First of all...I was in Oxnard. Yes Oxnard. WTF is in Oxnard.

Anyhow I was conned by my parents to drive halfway up with my brother since he goes to school in San Luis Obispo so we made a stop at a pleasant little center, and to my dismay we stopped at BJ's.

To me all BJ's are pretty much the same. When I think BJ's I think fatty, greasy deep dish pizza, beer and pazookies. Do they really serve anything else?

Anyhow, apparently the place was packed because BJ's now offers a weekend brunch (which btw we missed by an hour) and *gasp* I  had actually found something I would eat...on the brunch menu.

    Fail.

Since we had already had breakfast that morning at home it was that weird time in between...so what do my parents do? Naturally turn to the dessert.

Since it is required to list the calories, I decided it would be fun to sort of see how much I would be putting in my mouth. As I flipped by each section I found that maybe looking at the nutritional value would ruin my already low expectationed dining experience. A pazookie runs 1,000 calories and the brownie? Yup that's about the same. Was I crying inside? Pretty much.

I stuck with sipping my coffee.

There was nothing impressive about this location. The service was okay, since we were seated outside there was a nice little collection of dry bird poo on my seat, and I left with the same dissatisfaction as I had come with.

I love coming here with my friends after a long day at school or work.  The best seats are the booths in the bar area. Walk in like you're a regular and pass the hostess station and find a booth and sit. A server usually greets you within a few minutes and next thing you know your beer and food show up. Great friendly service and I love the atmosphere.

    My favorite menu items are:
*Avocado eggrolls - omg these are DELISH!
    *Cheeseburger
*Personal pizza - love the deep dish and chunky tomatoes!

    Favorite drafts:
    *Tatonka (similar to Guiness)
    *Nutty Brunette (similar to Newcastle)
    *Woodchuck Cider
    *Strawberry Blonde (similar to Budweiser)

The first time I ate here I wasn't that impressed. The second time was a few days ago for a friend's birthday and I have changed my mind about this place.

No doubt about it it's crowded on a Friday night and you will have to wait awhile for a table. The food however and the service was fast for us. We only had two waitresses for our two huge tables but they served us fabulously.

I ordered the baked potato without bacon and when they brought it to my table it did have bacon on it and I originally thought it might be for someone else at our table so I told the waitress I didn't think it was mine. When it was figured out that the potato was mine I offered to take it anyway but the waitress insisted she give me the right potato and came a few minutes later with a baconless potato. Super awesome in my opinion. The pizookie is to die for. At first I was trying to eat all the ice cream before it melted but after failing I realized the melted ice cream was drenching the cookie underneath and it turned into this amazing warm chocolaty sludge that was out of this world. I almost ate the entire thing myself. I will return just for the pizookie alone!

    Oh the memories.

During my time in high school, BJs was the place to go after EVERYTHING. Competition, concert, dance, you name it, we were at BJs shortly after. So when I showed up for the first time in a few years this weekend, I was pleasantly surprised that they changed the layout inside, it definitely opened it up, plus there's a HUGE flat screen at the bar now.

We came in the middle of the LA vs PHX came, so there was a wait but we were whatever. Eventually we got our booth and got nestled in. Jon and I ordered beers, I got the Berry Burst which was amazing. It felt like a flower & berry garden in my mouth. Very refreshing. Our table shared the piranha nachos, and for my meal I got the turkey burger (classic, as recommended by the waiter), and for dessert we shared a pizookie, half wcm, half pb. Bomb.

I've always laugh when I come here because this BJ's is located next to an In&Out, a little sexual humor for you there hahah. Anyways I love BJ's no pun intended, the atmosphere here is great, the service is good, and the facilities are clean. My first time here I wanted pizza because pizza is my favorite food and to my surprise they're pizza here is really good, they're sandwiches and pastas are also good too. BJ's is also known for they're pizzokie's, a warm cookie with vanilla ice cream soooo bomb!! Overall a great place to eat with family and friends even for those who just want to sit at the bar, drink and watch the game with their buddies.

The service is usually good, today however it was terrible. We waited literally an hour for our lunch- my pizza was cold when I got it an my parents had ordered salads which as you know are just tossed.  Her name is Lisa so if you get her beware. The service is usually better than her though. I also really like the layout of this BJ's.  Field of greens salad is good, also the Margherita pizza is pretty good.

If you've ever been to DuClaw on the East coast, just wish you were there.  This chain of breweries reminds me of DuClaw but falls short.  The BJ's chain is poorly reflected by the one in Oxnard, CA, and I hope they're not all like this.

I've been here twice this week and both times the same problem: horribly slow service.  We seated ourselves in the bar area (maybe that's the problem... bar scum aren't treated as well as the dining area patrons!) and easily waited 10 minutes each time for a server.  By then we had clearly settled on what we wanted to drink (and eat), so we placed our orders and then easily waited about 10 more minutes to get just our drinks!  Compound this slow process by ordering food, ordering more drinks, and then trying to get our check and multiply it by two (for the two evenings there) and you get: two stars.

The only reason BJ's doesn't get one star is that their Espresso-Tini, salads, and desserts were good.

... oh Oxnard, couldn't you do better?
