Once again, a trip up the coast and once again BJs. This time the food was good and the service was friendly and efficient.

I had this crazy open face burger called PIRANHA PALE ALE CHILI CHEESE ANGUS BURGER. D@mn was that good!

This place is starting to grow on me!

Next time? ANGUS POT ROAST SANDWICH-Tender Angus beef pot roast slices are served on a toasted garlic cheese French roll and
topped with white cheddar mashed potatoes and mushroom brown gravy. Served with oven roasted vegetables- that's what I'm talking about!

First of all...I was in Oxnard. Yes Oxnard. WTF is in Oxnard.

Anyhow I was conned by my parents to drive halfway up with my brother since he goes to school in San Luis Obispo so we made a stop at a pleasant little center, and to my dismay we stopped at BJ's.

To me all BJ's are pretty much the same. When I think BJ's I think fatty, greasy deep dish pizza, beer and pazookies. Do they really serve anything else?

Anyhow, apparently the place was packed because BJ's now offers a weekend brunch (which btw we missed by an hour) and *gasp* I  had actually found something I would eat...on the brunch menu.

Fail.

Since we had already had breakfast that morning at home it was that weird time in between...so what do my parents do? Naturally turn to the dessert.

Since it is required to list the calories, I decided it would be fun to sort of see how much I would be putting in my mouth. As I flipped by each section I found that maybe looking at the nutritional value would ruin my already low expectationed dining experience. A pazookie runs 1,000 calories and the brownie? Yup that's about the same. Was I crying inside? Pretty much.

I stuck with sipping my coffee.

There was nothing impressive about this location. The service was okay, since we were seated outside there was a nice little collection of dry bird poo on my seat, and I left with the same dissatisfaction as I had come with.

Many items on the menu are tasty and if you don't have your panties in a twist over counting calories than feel free to indulge in whatever looks good. However, when I come home from college I usually pay no mind to the meals, I'm strictly there to grab a beer and a side of fries with my parents. The ambiance is nice and the on-site brewed beers are quality. Stop by and enjoy.

I love this place! Great setting to watch any game.  Mixed sports fans, so no crazy heckling. Delicious beers and very friendly bartenders and wait staff!  Great happy hours too!

The service was really lacking. I would give it a zero. No one cleared our plates the entire meal. We got to dessert (awesome pizzokie - fresh baked cookie in a personal deep dish pizza pan) and still had the salads, appetizers, and entrees sitting on the table. Such a terrible showing for the wait/buss staff. Our waiter went on a break during our meal and we never actually saw his replacement, just a bunch of random people coming by and dropping off our dishes. Yes, the place in insanely busy, but the food was really good. I've heard its consistant as well. Lots of huge televisions to keep the sports-minded man in your life busy. Great beer and cocktails as well. I had a really nice time here and would go again. Hopefully the service wont be as bad.

Well BJ's is BJ's, the food is ok, but the service here is really lacking.  Not only here, I've experience the same poor service at other BJ's I've been to.  For some reason I keep coming back here, mainly because it's a main hangout for people, nothing much else out here in Oxnard.  Decent place for watching the game with a couple of friends though, if you don't expect much from the staff.  They do brew their own beer, but I'm not much of a beer guy anyway.  But I will say there are a handful of good items on the menu.  The ones that standout are the Meditteranian Pizza, the Chicken Parmesean, and the pizzokie (fresh baked cookie in a deep dish with ice cream on top).  The pizzokie may be the only reason I really come back actually, dang my sweet tooth.
