BJ the Clown is a true professional who brings "bucket-loads" of fun and laughter to the party!
We are recent arrivals to Portland and we were looking for something to make our son's 5th birthday party really special. After much searching we came up with a list of magicians, pirates, musicians, and entertainers of all stripe and variety. I then came across an article in the Oregonian about BJ the Clown entitled, "Portland's B.J. the Clown is serious about making kids laugh." I liked the fact that he was truly committed to children and had been in the clowning business for 18 years.
This isn't just some part-time thing for him, he is a true professional and I can attest to what the other Yelpers are saying here...he was on time, ready for action, and immediately mesmerized a group of unruly 4-6 year olds with interactive magic, games, jokes and custom-made balloons. BJ the clown was a HUGE hit with all of the children and the parents as well. -

If you are contemplating a clown for an upcoming event (especially if you have kids 8 or under), look no further. I've previously hired BJ for corporate events, but also recently hired him for a birthday gig at my home. He is truly the master at making people laugh (both kids and parents were giggling aloud)--and more importantly, at redirecting kids' energy if/when they get ancy--incorporating it right into the show for all to enjoy. His talents definitely explain why he's the most sought-after clown in the Portland-Metro area.

We had Bj the Clown yesterday for my son's 3rd Birthday party. He was amazing! I was a little worried at first since some of the kids were still two and had never seen clowns before, but they all loved him! My son can be a little shy at first when meeting some people but BJ had him laughing the entire time. He was the perfect addition to our party and made the day very special for my son. I would highly recommend him.

BJ is amazing. He's come to my son's 4th, 5th, and now 6th birthday party. He's funny and kind (some clowns seem a little weird but BJ just delightful). I like how he gets all of the kids to interact and adapts to the situation--all three years we had the party a different place and he just went with it and has also done more complicated things each year as the kids are older.
As the parent, it's a relief to because he's prompt and professional about the logistics. -

Absolutely hilarious! A master's touch with the kids. They'll be eating out of his hand and rolling with laughter. We've seen him on four separate occasions and have been impressed every time. A definite highlight for your kids party. Oh yeah, all the adults will like him, too. We are going to bring him back for our office party next Christmas.
