I just got a beautiful Christmas present from this place from my adorable boyfriend. It came gift wrapped adorably. I was impressed and asked him about his shopping experience this place. He informed me that as soon as he walked in he was given champagne and a very friendly sales woman helped him. The lingerie and earrings I received are beautiful and high quality. I am sure he paid a pretty penny but well worth it. Support local stores, shop here, and become a hero to your girlfriend.

they have gorgeous lingerie, but you will pay a pretty penny. they have brands you don't find most places (especially on the east side) like stella mccartney and princess tam tam, and have some great swim wear in the summer months.
i don't stop here for flowers, i wish they had a better selection. probably best for guys picking up a gift and want to add some flowers to it. my husband has bought a few things for me here, and they gift wrap with cute papers (bonus for him!).
the back of the store used to have sale items, not sure if they do anymore? unfortunately that area was sloppily put together.
happy they are in the neighborhood, and i will continue to visit and shop here. -

Lots of random stuff in here - lingerie, flowers, jewelry. Not much of a selection since it's a small boutique.

I always avoided this shop because I knew it would break my heart.
I was in love before even stepping into this dream, already sentimental towards it as it is located on the block of my childhood home and right across from the elementary school I attended.
I love Stella's, for they're naturally stellar. My favorite perfume, the Kowalski, the McCartney, the beer, the cafe. Stella's know my groove. And this store knows my soul. There was even a bouquet of purple roses waiting to welcome me home.
I walked in for the first time yesterday and felt immediately that I had found my secret treasure cave. Only there is no hoarding dragon guarding such jewels, the owner Nina has a beautiful, giving, calming presence.
So why the heartache? Because dreams and wishes aren't legal tender.
One day...one day I will march in here and walk away with a life's tank full of my heart's desire. -

Love Love Love this cute little boutique. Tucked right around the corner from my favorite pastry shop in all of LA, Lark, this is a must stop every time I'm in the area.
They have beautiful ling ere from lines like Stella McCartney and Mimi Holiday, all succulently arranged amongst fresh cut flowers. I never leave this shop without something. The salespeople are helpful and knowledgeable, very friendly and will gift wrap upon request. They also have some local designers whom are selling their lines of jewellery as well, displayed along with the flowers and fancy panties.
This is a must stop for lingerie, and don't forget to pick up some fresh cut Flowers while you're there!
How do they Rank?

*Side Note: Street parking only for this little beauty. So be prepared to hoof it in this part of town. There may be hills involved. -

I'm inspired. I spotted Bittersweet on my way to an appointment at Stark Waxing Studio, which, conveniently, is four doors down, and I said to myself in my best Barry White impersonation, "awwwwwwwwwww yeah."
After getting the wahina powdered and fluffed next door, you can't help but walk around this little shop feeling like a minx.
Beautiful panties decorated with ribbons, ruffles, bows, polka-dots, pleats, crimps, lace and embroidery, carved hairpins, Flamenco-style hair clips, and other feminine accessories. They also have amazing flowers, like French tulips, Stars of Bethlehem, fragrant garden roses, and uncommon varieties of hydrangea. The ladies working there were very sweet, and even offered me a job application when I started talking about their flowers! Heh!
My only reservation: $48 for a pair of knickers! I dunno about you, but for me, admiring myself in my underwear lasts for all of 30 precoital seconds before I want them taken OFF. Though I won't deny that if I could afford it, I wouldn't mind having a dozen sets of lingerie from Bittersweet.
The good news: lots of pretty, really cheap things in their sales basket! -

Kayuuute!!
I can't believe I considered myself an East side kinda gal growing up in LA and yet, in the 3 years of cruising around Sunset with this store in existence, I only JUST noticed this place yesterday. Can I get a big ole, "Duuuuuhh!" up in huuur?
Bittersweet Butterfly is the perfect one stop shopping experience. You need flowers? Done. You need panties? Done. You need flowers and lingerie after you royally screwed up and forgot her birthday or your anniversary?. Done. You need a nice glass of free chilled iced tea to sip on while you shop? Done. You will find it all here.
You will also find a fantastic sale rack in the back of the store with up to 50% off. Yesterday I scored an adorable robe for my friend, along with a cute little ring for myself. Yay, stuff!
As for the flowers, they were all standout stems. No boring stuff here. All were really pretty and super unique looking. Honestly, if you live on the East side and haven't hit this little boutique up, get on it. It's cute, it's local and even though they have Citysearch stuff all over their walls, I will let them slide, hehe :)Listed in: Los Angeles Shopping, Los Angeles Boutiques

I'm sure you've heard, but I've got a severe lingerie fetish. I'm talkin' garter belts, thigh-hi stockings, boots, heels, short skirts, corsets, bustiers, lacy, frilly, lovely bras - white, black, pink, silver, gold, red, green, purple - you name the lingerie...and I wants it.
I used to think Trashy Lingerie was the height of fashion. That it couldn't get any better after Leg Avenue.
I was wrong.
There was a whole new world of semi-affordable racy lacy goods at my disposal after an incredibly stark wax from Stark Wax.
I came here twice. First time the girl at the desk was not helpful at all. If anything, she was disdainful of everyone around her. The other girl there was actually much nicer and more of a help, deliberating at the end that I was a heavy B-cup, and that yes, this beautiful piece of art belonged on my body at all times.
The second time there was only one girl who not only helped me out - she fixed a broken strap on my cheaply made sundress. How's that for customer service?
What I love best of all are two things: the purple paper wrap they put around the delicate little lovelies I purchase and the sales rack. I got this beautiful frilly white number bra and bloomers set for 50 bucks. FIFTY BUCKS! My lord, that's great. For something not on the sales rack, I bought a bra that cost me 60+ alone.
Definitely coming back from time to time to build up the collection and see what else they have on the Sales Rack. -

Wow...
I found this place on Yelp and it's FANTASTIC! A friend of mine got engaged on Tuesday night and we wanted to send flowers the next day... I looked at Bittersweet Butterfly's website and then called and spoke to Dorothy on the phone. (I like a little extra customer service; especially when it comes to ordering floral arrangements since I'm kind of clueless).
Dorothy was sweet as can be and made a few suggestions after i told her what I was looking for. She also confirmed that same day delivery would not be a problem. We ended up choosing the 'California Sun Kissed' arrangement - ample size and Dorothy said she'd make it a little funkier / more unique per my request.
I'm waiting to see the photo from my friend but she said the flowers were absolutely beautiful! I felt great about my decision to use Bittersweet Butterfly throughout the process, and would not hesitate to use them again. I felt they were reasonable, quality, and provided outstanding customer service too! Hopefully, I will make it out to LA sometime soon so I can go visit the store in person - it looks adorable! (Fancy lingerie and fresh cut flowers... great combo!)Listed in: Everything's Coming Up Roses…

As a neighborhood res and city driver, one can't help but notice the vibrant pink sandwich board sign for Bittersweet Butterfly perched on the corner of Micheltorena and Sunset. And when Bittersweet got a blip mention in a New Yorker article on L.A. shopping, I knew I had to go there. But I procrastinate, so it's a year later, and I just made my first venture in post-waxing at neighbor Stark. While I'm not a lingerie shopper by nature, I was in the market for a little something.
My thoughts after all of this build-up? Disappointment. Incredibly tiny store where you really can't escape the lone employee's eye. Now this would be fine if said person was warm and friendly (know that good customer service and building relationships with customers is something I'm a stickler about). However, this person was totally silent, and the no-talk zone tension started to awkwardly build with just the two of us occupying this walk-in closet sized space.
The flower selection was almost exclusively single-stem and sparse. And pricey lingerie. There were some $16 Hanky Pankies, but those can be found most places. And the $44 pair of relatively plain panties I saw is a rich for my blood (i.e., wallet). I'd hoped it would be a good boutiquey source for girly gifts when I'm short on ideas, but it really is just flowers, lingerie and a very tiny jewelry case. I left with mostly Bitter - wishing for more Sweet! -

The floral arrangements here are exquisite. Truly little works of art, very unique and expressive. They can quickly put together little baskets for you filled with trinkets, plants, succulents (if it is for a dude), cookies etc.
I have called on B.B. twice in the recent past - having them creatively build a basket ASAP for gifts. The baskets were really PRETTY. Like, the kind of pretty that you don't want to tear into them because it looks so NICE... BUT, there are cookies in there - so eventually you go digging...
Their services are not cheap, the baskets were not cheap - but you do get what you pay for, and not everything can be a bargain.
I think their delivery fees are a little steep. For instance, a $60 cookie/flower arrangement cost over $25 bucks to deliver to the miracle mile area.
The lingerie/underjunk they carry is lovely. But, most of it is like "ehh, when the hell am I going to wear a $900 kimono?!" Again, lovely - but a little blue blood for me.
All in all, a great place. And should I ... No No, WHEN I win the MegaMillions, I will be sending myself a basket daily. -

I am a lingerie lover and always wondered about this store but never went in until recently. It's small and dark and can be a little intimidating but you should really go in, it is so charming! The pairing of delicious fresh flowers and sexy and sophisticated lingerie makes this store ubber romantic. I was very impressed with their designer selection; Stella McCartney, Princess Tam Tam, Damaris, Mimi Holiday, etc. With a range of lingerie, sleepwear, swimwear, robes, jewelry and even a couple of men's styles. There are definitely pricey items, but you don't have to spend a lot. There's a good selection of $25-$65 if you don't want to hit the $200 range.
This is an ideal stop for a special occasion or gift. I however picked up something for myself... a pair of very cute silk tap shorts ($60), from a new local designer, Cameo along with a few cards by Redcap (my favorite). The sales woman was very warm and helpful. I'll be back again. -

I received a scrumptious lingerie set from Bittersweet Butterfly for my bridal shower last year. I loved it so much I decided to check out their other collections. They carry an impressive array of beautiful and unique lingerie! Nothing cookie cutter or obnoxiously trendy here. I also love the different type of flower arrangements and one of a kind jewelry. This is a one stop shop for a romantic and thoughtful husband or boyfriend.. *hint-hint* ;)
The staff is friendly and ready to answer your questions. Last time I was here, I picked up a cute cotton chemise and side tie panties by 'Undrest' and had them wrap it up with their signature butterfly on the ribbon. I promptly handed the gift to another Bride to be who took in a deep breath when she opened her package. Another one converted right in front of my eyes! -

BRAVO!!! This place really came thru. I needed a floral arrangement but I didn't want a boring/cookie-cutter one. I wanted something unique. After browsing on their website and seeing the arrangement called "Bali", I knew I found *the one*.
Orchids floating in a tall square glass jar. Honestly....it was gorgeous. When I saw it after it was delivered to my friend (who was in the hospital with her newborn) I saw it looked exactly like the pic. Delivery was reasonable and the arrangement was stunning.
I will definitely order on-line again the next time I need a gift. I have never been in the store, so this review is from the online and phone experience I had. Can't wait to go inside the store. I see they sell sexy lingerie. Can't have too much of that. -

One morning I woke up (as I often do come morning) and wondered to my self, "Self, I wish there were a shop where one could acquire both lovely smelling fresh flowers and undergarments for ladies who smell equally as lovely." Then I realized there was such a place in Silver Lake. Ok. That isn't a true story but it's the kind of vision that I'm sure this store's matriarch was blessed with one morning. And it's also a fantastic reason why Silverlake is fanastic: a neighborhood that encourages creativity on all fronts, even storefronts.
Bittersweet Butterfly is small, cute and colorful. It's not Victoria's Secret and it's not the Flower Department at your local Ralph's. But what it is, is a true gem on the East Hollywood commercial landscape.

Though they do not carry a great selection of lingerie, what they do have is excellent.
For example, they would have an excellent brand/designer such as Aubade but they won't carry many of their collections, only two or three designs. But the Aubades that they do have are exceptionally good.
Thyey also have gourmet chocolates but really, I come for the lingerie. -

Go in the evening or weekend so you will find parking. I spotted this mysterious black satin box of chocolate sitting on the counter..I'll go back and get it. I think once you get into pretty (and a little pricey) lingerie, it's difficult to get out. I mean, I don't even have the motivation to go into Victoria's Secret after I found out about this store. Every time I went in, I dropped more $ than I should have but I just can't help it. They carry some really sexy lingerie that I think every girl would want to have. Things are pricey but I think everyone has a different idea of "is that bra worth that much?"
Another interesting thing about this store is, I saw some weird flowers (Pineapples!?) in a vase. If I ever need unique arrangement of flowers I'll ask for their help. -

Aaahhh Bittersweet Butterfly thank you for greatly improving the quality and size of my lingerie collection. (My boyfriend would live to give you a big round of applause too.) The store is small, smells great, carries beautiful lingerie and jewelery, and is truly a gem.
The very best part of Bittersweet??? Their VERY VERY affordable sale section! High end bras, panties, sets etc. for great prices. Also, I usually find great jewelery, makeup, lotions, candles etc. on sale.
I just wish they opened the store before 12pm. -

I've been here a couple times to pick up flowers and/or gifts. Sometimes they have absolutely incredible stuff for good prices. Other times, they only have boring stuff for way to much money.
I just realized how generic that sounded. Let's put it this way -- last time I got H some great sleep pants, an incredible top, and flowers for under a hundred. This time, I couldn't find anything to get excited about. Really. Nothing at all. -

I've always seen this little shop and wanted to go in. I'm intrigued by the pink silk floral robe in the window...but that is for another day. I popped in tonight because I was in dire need of a small gift - the owner (?) was very nice, not pushy and she has a beautiful albeit small selection of delectable lingerie. I will return (hopefully for that robe)

Way to perpetuate the negative views of Silverlake...this store is overpriced--perhaps they are trying to convince people that their mundane meager offerings might be cool if you pay too much. Owner needs to teach Customer Service 101--or just spend the day at Nordstrom--see below.
These "sales people" act as though they are doing you a favor by giving you the time of day. Yes it's a tiny store and has tons of potential...no one likes hovering when shopping but hey if I'm going to plunk down big bucks for a cami I'd like some help, some interest. Seriously who do they think they are...do they not realize that I might have bought the cami and some other item i'd not thought to look at. People want to feel special when they are shopping, whether it's single flower or expensive lingerie.
I walked out and bought nothing when I could have easily spent a $100 or more...maybe there is a reason this stuff is so marked up...but they're not talking. What else do these people have to do, the store is tiny, inventory small...you'd think they'd want to create a special neighborhood environment where people want to come to shop.
Attitude and Indifference are dealbreakers.....not just for one sale, but future sales........Don't get sucked in....Go to Panty Raid if you want to support the neighborhood.........they are so nice and helpful......and whatever your budget.....go to Nordstrom, no matter what you spend they treat you like a princess, help you find just the right thing, wrap it nicely...more so if a gift......and walk the package around the counter and hand it to you.Comment from Nina W. of Bittersweet Butterfly 2/18/2010

Bittersweet Butterfly is for all of the girlie girls out there, and the men that love them. They have a really great selection of lingerie, the type you will not find in your average Fredrick's of Hollywood or Victoria's Secret catalog. They have an excellent selection of panties and bras sure to inspire some "sexytime" if say you're picking your boyfriend up from the airport in a few days and need the proper...ehem...attire (if you know what I'm sayin). A word to the wise (Attention men-folk!!!!) if you are in the doghouse with your old lady, need to brighten up her day (or yours), stop by Bittersweet Butterfly and pick up something pretty to look at: flowers, sexy lingerie, designer candles, interesting jewelry from local designers and friendly service is waiting for you at Bittersweet Butterfly.

Lingerie and flowers? Is there a better combination? My girlfriends and I found this sweet little boutique when we were shopping one day and decided to stop in to check out the fine lingerie: they carry top designers like, Stella McCartney, Princess Tam Tam, and Mimi Holiday, all which I love! This is such a super great place for guys to come shopping for their girls. It's literally a one-stop-shop that will impress your lady a million times over. I was also impressed with the selection of flowers and, to my delight, a friend of mine sent me a bouquet from Bittersweet Butterfly for my birthday. It was a stunning arrangement of dark pink, white, and purple tulips with a couple of greenish colored orchids--it was so girly and fresh, I loved it! What's even better is that the ladies who work in this store are really sweet and know a lot about the products they sell. This boutique has never disappointed.

I have upped my requirements for my next boyfriend--he needs to be worthy of the beautiful lingerie I've been collecting. It's true that I probably could do something more practical with all the money I love spending here, but honey...nurturing the sexy is worth the price. They owner/buyers have mastered the art of creating allure without stepping too far into trashy or frilly, and their basics are well-priced and fit perfectly (a well-fitting bra is a rare and priceless thing). I love giving my girlfriends a gift certificate and introducing them to the kind of intimates their beautiful selves deserve (nay, require). Agent Provacateur has NOTHING on this place, nothing at all.

Great mix. They have the best European labels like Stella McCarney and Duets (Duets make my favorite bras) as well as local labels. Nina, the owner, is so sweet and the floral arrangments are the icing on the cake. -

Guys, bookmark this for your Valentine gift shopping. This plant-filled shop has very beautiful one of a kind jewelry, gorgeous flower arrangements, and" to die for" lingerie. The stylish lines carried include Princess Tam Tam, Nina V, Mimi Holiday and Carol Malony, a select group of European and American designers--there's everything from playful knee-highs to sleek European hose, laid back camisoles, to vixen-y, vintage inspired getups. The items were all picked with distinctive taste. They also have scented candles and fine chocolate. The floral arrangement rivals those in Beverly Hills. For guys, if you need to buy a gift for your girlfriend or wife, this is a one-stop shop that will save you time and headache, but probably not the money. She will love any item in the shop and be thankful. The shop's ambience is done with good girly taste. Just walking into the store lifts up your spirit. the staff are also helpful and knowledgeable. I love this store.

Although tiny, Bittersweet Butterfly specializes in unique and rare flowers presented in unusual and beautifully creative bouquets. They have always been helpful and genuine and have gotten me out of a pinch several times. Their creations are simple and elegant--like the rest of the store. And although I have never purchased any of the lingerie myself, I have appreciated it; their selection ranges from comforable fun to casual sophisticated. This is a great neighborhood florist and boutique.

I adore the concept of this store...flowers, gifts & lingerie...Everything a girl could want or need! The storeowner Nina is a great lady and has an adorable store tucked away just off Sunset Blvd. She stocks all of the designer underwear labels and I could get into major trouble at this little shop of sweetness. The flower arrangements are uncommon, they use flower combos you wouldn't immediately think of pairing...Love it.

The thing is, lingerie is always expensive. But at Bittersweet Butterfly you can LOVE the lingerie you pay a lot of money for, rather than simply enduring it. Everything I have from there makes me either want to prance or slink. So much better than itchy scratchy trashy baggy Victoria's Secret.

Cute little lingerie AND floral shop in Silver Lake. What a concept, all they need is to add some chocolate selections. Beautiful bras, panties, nightgowns, robes, etc. A small store so not the biggest selection, but they carry some classy European lines. Don't forget to check out the sale section in the back. This shop is next to Lark, a very yummy bakery on Sunset. Try on clothes first, then get dessert.

This is a great place to get a sexy gift. Their flower selection varies from season to season as one might expect, and they often have a lot of hand made jewelry (mostly glossy/stone/hippy-ish type stuff). Most of their stock is lingerie, slips, etc. Stock always changing, and a lot of their stuff looks very one of a kind. Great hours too... pick something up after work on the way home...
