How have I not eaten here yet?!?!  This place is literally right between my work and school!

Healthy food options AND at a good price - I got the half sandwich/ side salad deal for $7.  I ordered the very yummy (and toasted) prosciutto and mozzarella sandwich!  Although I would definitely order the prosciutto sandwich again, I am equally excited to continue to try different items off their fantastic menu!

What do you charge for rent on a place that is so small that there is barely any room to even turn around? No I'm not talking about your Manhattan apartment. I am talking about Bite. Who ever would have thought to take that sliver of land on the triangle where Mulberry Street and Lafayette Street meets Bleeker Street? Guessing that they probably have about 15 square feet of space would actually seem generous.

Regardless of how small it is, Bite still serves up a mean lunch menu. I'm here on a weekly basis. Around the office, this is our go to place for a coffee run. Their coffee is reasonably priced, fresh, and made just how I like it every time. I usually go for a Small coffee with sugar and soy milk. I'm guessing soy is a popular item among patrons of Bite. Every time I go there later in the day they always seem to be out. I think when you ask for sugar what they actually give you is simple syrup because I always see them squirt something out of a squirt bottle. There really isn't anything wrong with simple syrup either since it is essentially just water mixed with large amounts of sugar.

The soups and sandwiches at Bite are also very delicious. They have a wide array of sandwiches and pressed panini to choose from. There is a special combo price for half a panini and a warm cup of delicious soup. My favorites include the Genoa Salami with Mozzarella Panini and the Roast Beef with Sundried Tomatoes, Pesto, etc. The sandwiches a not huge but they are definitely big and satisfying enough to induce a welcomed food coma in the early afternoon at the office.

While there obviously isn't any indoor seating at Bite, they do provide you with a few stools and a small counter built into the side of the building. You can pull up a stool and sit to enjoy your meal or just sit and wait for your sandwich. It does take a bit to make the food and there is always a line of people waiting. Even when construction on the 6 Train had the MTA to tear up the sidewalk and caused the window on Lafayette Street to close, a line formed on Mulberry Street and service resumed as usual through a tiny window on the other side.

Now taking a quote from fellow Yelper and Bite reviewer Becca S., "What Bite lacks in square footage it makes up for in yumminess." That in my honest opinion describes everything about Bite in a nutshell. While there isn't anything about Bite that makes it so mind blowing that people from out of state should fly to New York just to experience, there is some novelty in the fact that someone actually thought to build Bite on such a plot of land. The food is great; I can definitely vouch for the panini and the coffee.

It blows my mind that someone ever thought it would be a good idea to erect a building on the sliver of a block that houses Bite, but I'm awfully glad they did.  Bite is roughly the size of my bathtub, and I imagine that part of its hiring process must have involved some sort of claustrophobia clearance test, because they've basically got room inside to turn around, and that's pretty much it.  Do you see what I'm getting at here?  The place is TINY, if you catch my drift.

Now here's where I say something cute like "Bite may be small, but it is big on flavor!" or "What Bite lacks in square footage it makes up for in yumminess" or "Bite: little store, giant sandwiches" etc, etc.  Contrast, you see!

Look, bottom line is I got a really delicious roast beef sandwich here today.  It was huge.  It contained a ton of juicy pink meat, sharp cheese and crisp mixed greens, and it cost $7.50, which I'm sadly beginning to find to be a very reasonable price for a sandwich these days.  I also got a massive fresh-baked chocolate chip cookie for $1, which is without question a more-than-reasonable price for a cookie these days.

This was by far the best lunch I've had so far where I didn't get half way and wanted to bail. It's hard to get a good lunch for under 10 bucks. I work in midtown, so eating somewhere new during lunch is a big deal. Dirty Potato chips, Hot Pressed Panini with Smoked Turkey and Pesto...was great!!! Don't forget the Homemade Lemonade. Grand total $9...

The prosciutto and mozzarella sandwich I had from here was large and satisfying, and at a good price. I got there at like 11am cause I didn't eat breakfast and they were just getting things fired up. Soup sounded good but wasn't ready yet, pastries on the counter looked great. Sandwich didn't look that big but it sure filled me up. Any bigger would've been gluttonous of me :)

Same great food as their 14th street restaurant, but a crappy location. This is not a restaurant; it is just a take-away counter. There are 4 stools that I was sort of afraid to sit on, fearing that I would topple over and everyone would laugh at me. I was able to sit on the duck-taped top but it didn't quite match the height of the bar. I figured to eat the sandwich out of my hand and, actually, it worked out perfectly!

Every time I go, I want to try the soups since they sound good, but I never manage to actually order it... maybe next time!

On cold days I come here to stand under the heat lamp and order the tomato soup--the most exciting I've had in NY, by far, with which the crusty piece of baguette goes handholdingly. It's spicy and has miniscule carrot bits. It's rich but not creamy.

Truthfully, the only sandwich of theirs I endorse is the roast beef, toasted, with sundried tomato and basil pesto mayo. It's a hearty sandwich and if I order both the soup and this I usually save half a sandwich for later. There's usually too much beef in there for my liking so I give the excess to panting Chonni on standby. Chonni is not a dog. Add a bag of Dirty chips for $1 if you order a sandwich.

I love Bite!  There's nothing but a narrow little stand in between two streets, but the sandwiches are amazing!  Whoever came up with the idea of slabbing hummus on a turkey sandwich is a genius...  SO GOOD.  And for $6.50, the sandwiches are huge (and loaded with meat).

Unlike their 14th St location, this Bite, located on a traffic island on Lafayette, has no interior --it's outdoor counter service, with a few stools. However, they're making the same great sandwiches. The sabih sandwich was excellent, as always, though I requested the spicy version and what I ate was decidedly un-spicy. While $6.50 is a little steep to pay for a vegetarian small-ish sandwich, it was delicious enough to bring me back.

I go over for a late lunch and grab the half panini and soup. It's an okay value for $7.

The panini is a bit small, but the fresh mozzarella and prosciutto are good. The sundried tomato was a bit stale.

The lentil soup is really good. Comes with big chunks of lots of vegetables.

A decent place for a quick lunch to go.

I was pretty unimpressed by this place.  First, it took them FOREVER to make my panini.  Second, the panini was way more expensive than what I want to pay on the street.  Third, it simply was not that good.  In some places there was way too much cheese, and it was all very greasy...

Oh, I also got lemon muffin.  It was good, and for $1.50 a pretty good bargain (I can't believe I'm getting used to these NY prices).

Tough times all over, I know. Economy's failing. I've been stuck doing this crazy play across the street from here under these crazy circumstances. Other stuff. But Bite, you've been there for me all the way through!

This is one of the best salami sandwiches, AND I KNOW SALAMI SANDWICHES!!!!!, in New York. But wait, which one? They're BOTH great! I probably ate a grand total of 20 Bite sandwiches in January and February.

Yum, and they have those honey mustard Dirty potato chips that are so delicious.

The good news: If you manage to get you your food, then it's amazing! I love the vegan sandwich and the hummus and pita is a wonderful snack. To me part of what makes this place work so well is that quality of the bread on their sandwiches is amazing and fresh. In fact even their ice tea is good!

The bad news: The catch is that the guy who takes the orders has a very limited bandwidth, so if there are more than two people in line ahead of you you'll waste what seems to be hours waiting. Making things worse sometimes they'll blast their music so they can't hear you order correctly. My advice is if you don't see anybody place your order, otherwise get ready for some frustration.

Wow, that's some Green Thai Curry!
$5.50 for some pint size lovin of velvety smooth green thai curry smothering thin slices of bamboo, soft eggplant and veggies over fluffy rice~

purely orgasmic...

of course I was running dangerously low on fuel in my belly....

So I went back to Bite again recently, as I had a strong hankering for some Bite sized goods, and again!  it was just what I needed!   Any place that makes me want to go back for more deserves 5 Stars!!!
even if their selection isn't very big, what they do have on their menu is excellent!

I am a fan...

Okay, so there's no real seating, only a few dinky metal stools with uneven legs set up against a dirty metal counter littered with bread crumbs and yes, if you sit there, you will be amidst sidewalk traffic stares but...

Get past that, though, and you'll see the light.

Sandwiches are all top notch in terms of flavor and my all time favorite, the Roasted Red Pepper Tapenade Hummus Plate that comes with Pita Bread makes me die a little everytime I eat it.

You literally get an entire tub full and for a very decent price. You certainly won't finish the entire thing in one sitting unless you're a disgusting mammoth but that only means more for later!

Now please go order that and enjoy it for me.

I just scarfed down the Sabich sandwich: grilled eggplant, hummus, chopped hard boiled egg and saladish filling. YUM.

The guy who works there is super nice and I didn't have to wait that long (granted it was 8:30 pm)

$6.50 (7.50 with a drink) these days hard to come by.

the menu is kind of limited but a good sandwich is hard to find in this city.

I work right around the corner and have been half heartedly listening to my coworkers talk about this place forever.  Wasn't until I was bored with my normal lunch haunts and did a search on Yelp for someplace close and inexpensive that I finally decided to go and see what the fuss was about.  Of course Murphy's Law being what it usually is, when I finally walked over to Bite a couple of weeks ago the place was closed for renovations.   My coworkers took a wee bit of satisfaction when they heard about my failed attempt.  I suppose I deserved those smug looks given that I had put more credence in yelp reviews than coworker reviews.

ANYWAY, since the yelp raves about the Middle Eastern smoked turkey sandwich remained lodged in my brain, I decided to take a walk over there again today.  To my delight, Bite was open.  To my even greater delight, they managed to get my spicy Middle Eastern smoked turkey sandwich to me within a few minutes of ordering.  And as everyone has mentioned, with drink my total bill was $7.50.

Lessons I've learned...

I should listen to my coworkers when they start talking about a new inexpensive place to eat even if I'm a carnivore and most of them are vegetarian/vegan.

If, instead of heeding advice of my coworkers, I only venture out to a place after I've read yelp reviews I should probably keep that fact to myself unless I want to listen to a chorus of "I told you so, I told you so."

Get off the 6 at Bleecker and it's right in front of you.  Love the guys who work here -- they're friendly and helpful, no matter how busy.  I have yet to try anything but their sandwiches here (although I'm dying to try their spicy black bean soup + yogurt), and for $5.75, these sandwiches are big and very filling.  I can't pick a favorite sandwich... but I do keep coming back for the exotic tuna and middle eastern vegan sandwich (get that one spicy -- packs a nice little punch!).  They definitely don't skimp on the sandwich fillings, and the bread is also from Balthazar... all of which equals really really really good sandwiches.

The $3 banana/nutella ciabatta also seems to be a big favorite.  Then again, how can you go wrong with banana and nutella???

I have a classic love-hate relationship with this place. No doubt it's an easy, inexpensive option for yummy and sometimes inventive panini. On the other hand, the line is often out of control in the morning and lunch rushes, making a potentially quick order into an ordeal. Also, mornings are a gamble; they can open at 7:30 or 9.

You can convert most of the sandwiches to salads if you ask. I'm a big fan of the Middle Eastern Vegan, roasted eggplant, hummus and roasted peppers.

Delish. I just wish they'd address some of the smaller issues that would make the operation run a bit more smoothly.

The Outstanding: Owners funny and chatty attitude. This guy is a riot, from directions, to drink recommendations to party invitation he's a one stop shop for my comic and social relief.

The Great: The food and people watching. I used to complain that the lines are long, the stools are always full and that the rain drops on my head. But enjoying the people walking around has always been a great addition to incredibly tasty and amazingly cheap food.

The Bizarre: They now have a second location that although doesn't have me questioning how the hell do they make food at such a small wedge shaped location still maintains to produce great food.

The Con: At their new location they have Wi-Fi so I can't just stare at the people, I actually have to make-believe that I'm working.  :(

i've been to the one on 14th btwn 2nd and 3rd..and its great.  there are tables and chairs of course..but my favorite spot is the small barstool area which faces an open window towards the quiet street so you can do your work while people watching (or just pretend you're doing work..while you're actually just people watching..haha)  the owners are soo nice.  They have wi-fi but it wasn't working so they kept readjusting it for me until it did work.  I had a veggie pesto panini..which was really good - the whole experience was very homey and welcoming..from the service to the interior to the warm yum food...i'll definitely go here again...i love it, its close by, and it makes me happy. :)

(also - there are no lines at this one..and there's plenty of room to sit)

This is was about as close to "street-food" as I've ever gotten.  It was a gloomy Saturday afternoon, and if I wasn't in such good company, I would have certainly preferred being curled up in bed with a good book.  As it started to rain, we ducked under the overhanging roof at Bite, sat down on their retro barstools, and instead of brooding over our distinct lack of an umbrella, we began working on an alternative plan.

In the process, I realized I was quite hungry, and after quickly surveying the menu, I ordered their sandwich with portobello mushrooms sauteed in balsamic vinegar.  This being one of my favorite combinations, I went ahead and took a chance on this slightly sketchy looking place.

Though I would have wanted it on wheat bread, they didn't ask, so it was served on panini bread.  I have to admit, this is the second-best sandwich I've ever had -- and a very close second, at that.  (See my review of The Counter Cafe in Austin, Texas, if you're interested in the best sandwich I've ever had.)

Still, everything about this was very nearly perfect.  The bread was toasty, the mushrooms were warm and moist, and the greens were crisp.  Everything was perfectly packed in between the pieces of bread, which made it easy to eat, despite the fact it had the potential of being one of those sandwiches that end up more on your clothes than in your mouth.

It was so filling that I couldn't eat the second half, but I wrapped it back up and saved it for later.  And if you know me, you would know that this is a BIG deal, as I rarely ever take left-overs home with me.  It was that good.  Trust me.

The Bite located on 14th St (btwn 3rd & 4th) is my neighborhood stand-by.  I love their turkey-pesto panini and the lentil soup is so fresh and has a nice "bite" to it.  Apparently you can ask for them to put a little yogurt in it to soothe the spice.

Free wireless and stacks of US Weekly maganizes here.  What's not to love?

I was wandering the streets before work one morning and decided to finally try this place because I saw that they have a Nutella Banana Ciabatta sandwich for $3.

Sure, after waiting in a semi-long line of working folks getting their morning joe and announcing to the guy behind the counter that I wanted this pressed sandwich, he gave me some attitude--cuz I was ruining his flow or something.. But sometimes you just want something sweet in the morning, and this shit was absolutely perfect.

I asked him if they make the sandwich all day because it was listed under "munchies." He replied, "yes, but to be honest, the guys might not feel like making it." GEEZ.

I love bite!!!! Since it was right next to my office for awhile, I ended up going there about 3 times a week - and I never got sick of it. The paninis are awesome and you can get them on whole wheat - try the salami with fresh mozzarella, its ridiculous. My favorite by far is the Middle Eastern turkey - ask for it spicy, and toasted on wheat bread. It has hummus and other yummy things inside. They have good iced coffee too, and soy milk and splenda (perfection).

They always have good music playing outside too so you can dance a little while you're waiting in line. hahaha. This place is a perfect lunch on the go spot if you're in a hurry or just want a delicious sandwich.

After i got back from a weeks vacation in NYC a friend asked me what my favorite meal of the trip had been. Now granted, upon arriving in NY i had made a deal with myself to choose shopping over food, thus i didn't experience a whole lot of  New York's superb gastronomy. My answer to his question was a curried tuna sandwich i had had at a tiny little street cafe, thing, called Bite. Now, a month after my trip, and several (failed) attempts to recreate said sandwich i am full on jonesing for one. The tuna, curry, golden raisins, cabbage and carrots piled on top of a warm wheat ciabatta bread HAUNTS ME IN MY DREAMS! People of New York, do yourself a favor and go eat that sandwich JUST BECAUSE YOU CAN! just remember to plop a little of it on the sidewalk for me.

Surprisingly good sandwiches...I had the Middle Eastern with mushrooms.  I say surprisingly since it didn't look that great but the flavor was great.  High bread-to-filling ratio.  I'd say two-thirds bread.  Mushrooms, middle eastern salad (cucumbers, tomoatoes), hummus, goat cheese...all on a crusty french baguette.  I don't usually approve of bread used at sandwich places but this one was quite tasty.  I would eat the bread by itself...that's how much I approve!  $7.50 for the sandwich and a bottle of water.  Big enough to split into two meals.

Just a few stools though.  Take your grub to-go.  Guy behind the counter wasn't that friendly.  More "I don't want to be here" attitude.

I've tried their turkey middle eastern sandwich,  Maybe it's just me because I'm not much of one for sandwiches, but it was just alright.

What I really want to rave about is their green thai coconut curry chicken.  The first time I went, that was what I had my eye on, except on that day they were sold out, so I went back again another day.  They had it this time but no more rice was left.  However I love curry like no other so I got it anyway. It's soooo smooth and velvety and spicy yet sweet and coconutty.  I loved it! I tried to slowly dip my bread in it to savor it but it was quite obvious I needed rice.  I ended up with no more bread but tons of curry that I couldn't bear to throw out cause it was so good that I kinda started just sipping on the curry as if it was soup.  The only downside about it was the lack of chicken.  There wasn't too much but what there was was definitely tasty! It's not like the white meat chicken most places usually give you (not a fan of white meat)  It's the dark parts that seem like it's taken off a drumstick. YUM!

I can not get Bite off my mind. I am seriously obsessed with the Middle Eastern mushroom sandwich and goat cheese salad. Unfortunately, I don't live nor work anywhere near either Bite. Everyday I sit in my cubicle and think of taking the train out of the culinary hell that is the Financial District and going to Bite for lunch. Everyday I do not do this. But the idea of doing so helps me get through my day.

I used to frequent their Union Square location when I lived up there and the food was amazing. This location is just as good, but there is no seating, which is why I gave it a 4 instead of a 5. Also, the staff is much more limited than their Union Square location. There was one person in front of me and the guy did not take very long to take and get me my order. The hummus at this place is the best I've ever had. I don't know what they do, but it's soooooo good. You definitely need to try it out if you're in the area!!!

I had an absolutly amazing sandwich from Bite last night. I got off the 6 at Bleecker and was on my way to Tom & Jerry's, but wanted to grab something quick to eat, and, well Bite was in the right place at the right time. It was cold, but the guy behind the counter was cheerful, the guy in front of me in line was cheerful, and I found myself feeling cheerful too. However, good feelings aside, my sandwich was seriously delicious. I had the eggplant, mozzarella, and pesto panino (from the "New At Bite" menu). It was yummy. So so yummy.

Little Bite as I like to call it is my favorite sandwich spot in the NoHo hood. If you are lucky to hang with Ami the owner, have him make you a sandwich with nutella and bananas and a cup of coffee. I swear their coffee is better than Dean & Delucas and given to you with much less attitude.  Their little corner is the best spot in the city for people watching and celebrity glimpses. Be sure to chat up Yariv and have him teach you slang Hebrew(kooz ganuv)

fantastic! terrific!! what an amazing sandwich i have just had!
i had middle eastern mushrooms with spicy sauce, and it made me cry. it was sooo tasty, and in the end, it tasted a little salty because i was eating, and crying.
the vietnamiese style sandwiches (which use french bagget) remind me of k sandwiches in san diego..
sorry, no more missing them. i am sooo over yoou!!

by the way, could anyone who tried all their sandwiches tell me which one is the best?? i am sure there is no really miss though.

It's a wonder that good food can come out of a space this small.  Good for grabbing lunch for the office (if you are in the area) or for a walk-and-eat day on the town.  Come at off hours to avoid the crazy lines.

I worked nearby and never understood the appeal.  The food quality was average, but the menu was too limited, and the wait was always absolutely horrendous.  Okay so it's in this hipster-interesting flatiron like triangle building.  That doesn't mean I'm going to give up an hour of my life every time I want to eat there.

Imagine a shrunken Flat Iron building and that is the space that Bite inhabits. It must be  an impossible feat to prepare the food they have here for hungry souls looking for a quick, cheap meal on the run but they do an excellent job as the constant long line confirms.
